I'm not sure I wholly agree that it would take away from who we are, warhammer dwarfs are incredibly intelligent and inventive and actually don't mind mobility if you look at things like the Gyrocopter. I think it would be good to have some sort land based invention that would bring speed, maybe some sort of drill machine?

Oh I fully agree, even mentioned the mining machine. There was much talk of a big tunneling machine, supposedly the model had already been made, before the world ended. What I don't want is stuff like polar bear cavalry, hog riders etc, to give us 'mobile' troops.

  2. Additions such as cavalry take us away from who we are. Yes, we need some mobility for all the objective based scenarios. The two things which are in keeping with our  lore are tunnelers/miners/tunneling machines and the golems so prominent in the Warhammer literature. Do those up properly and we can compete while remaining true to the aethos.

I had a thought about the duardin.  Does anyone remember the Squats of epic and their massive land trains?

Maybe, just maybe, the duardin should get more fantastical steam punk versions of these?  Could it be supported by the fluff?

See, they could be a mixture of established karaks and ‘caravans’ looking to retake old/build new ones.  Caravans made up of big steam trains.

The Chaos Dwarfs (whatever in hell they're called now- Legion of Azgorh ) have a train.  A big train.

Agreed. I was a tad disappointed with the Trollboss' size, thought he looked bigger in the book. I was hoping for something more nearly Ghorgon size.

'Troggbosses are huge brutes, and often the eldest of their monstrous subspecies'......Well, not THAT huge.

  5. While we could get something like the old Rune on the BSB that let everyone get a march move before the game, I just do not see it. AoS is about marketing the $65-120 big flashy models and kits, and Dwarfs would not be Dwarfs. Sure, a Zeppelin would be great, but sadly they already made another army for that.

  6. Honestly, given the 'objective scenario' emphasis of AoS I just don't see it.  Dwarfs were ALWAYS bad at scenarios, and any buffs that would give us even some reasonable mobility (ie the old Anvil, or Bear Riders, or Golems) would have to be so over the top as to make us no longer who we are.

    What about this ?

    Allegiance: Destruction
    Gordrakk the Fist of Gork
    (580)

You lost the Gloomspite allegiance but you got the Gordrakk command ability and the Wild Fury + Ghyrstrike combo.

While it is a brilliant idea and well done, since Gordrakk can't die  sacrificing 760 pts is a helluva lot. You basically have an army of 9 admittedly very  offensively overpowered Troggoths. But they will get avoided and shot.

I don't care about fluff explaining why you can have a midget Troggboss.  I want a giant massive troll that inspires (as much as dim-witted trolls can be inspired) his brethren through his gargantuan hugeness.
