    Coming from Cities of Sigmar I'm pretty confident its basically "I have 13 units so I can take UP TO 3 BoC and UP TO 6 StD" taking any slaves or BoC doesnt effect the number of Boc or Slaves units you can take.

    In living cities 1 in 4 can be sylvaneth and 1 in 4 can be stormcast but you just count your total units for the army to determine how many of the other two you can take, you dont have to literally count out a certain number of blades/std/boc units to take. If that makes any sense.

    I'll do a visual representation

    K= Khorne unit

    S= slaves

    B= Beasts

    [KKSB] [KKKB] [KKKB] Kl

    I'm very confident that "2 in every 4 CAN be from slaves to darkness" doesnt mean you have to bring 2. I'm assuming its "up to 2" because of the use of the word can without any further stipulation.

    Thank you, it makes sense now, also thanks Kogan for your explanation as well

    - 5 wrathmongers

    Just starting back into AOS for the new edition and I am a little confused how you got a single StoD coalition unit or is he not MOK?

    I read the  FAQ as  2 in every 4 units in the army can be a coalition unit from the Slaves to Darkness faction that has the MOK keyword. (I may be overthinking it to be honest)

    I am having real trouble find a fourth coalition StoD unit so I can fit 2 units of Chaos Knights and a Daemon Prince in.

    Thanks brother for the battle report! Just some questions: Do you feel the Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage is worth without being buffer? What do you feel is the minimum amount of buffs for him to work?

    And how are the skullfiend tribe and the Khorgoraths at their current points? Was the re-roll to hits of 1 coming up often? And was the command ability efficient?

    Also, when the Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage activates Outrageous Carnage, and vaporizes 2 unfortunate enemy heroes (let’s imagine them to be lords of Slaanesh, to vent our fury), is that counted as being slain by an attack for purposes of the Skullfiend command trait? That would make the Insensate Rage thirstier really cool

    Thank you also, as to your queries;

     Do you feel the Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage is worth without being buffer?

    At full wounds  my Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage with + 2 attacks from the Skullfiend artifact would get the killing frenzy and hopefully stay in range of my Bloodscrator for a full 8 hits which tended to result in at least 5 x D6 wounds with a good chance for carnage to trigger.  I don't tend to invest anything else apart from the odd heal to knock him up a wound band if there is nothing else needing healed after he starts to lose wounds. Even on a single wound with the above setup he gets 6 attacks at -2 rend for D6 damage without any loss in accuracy or  regular wounding ability.

    And how are the skullfiend tribe and the Khorgoraths at their current points?

    My normal opponents have a healthy respect for the Khorgraths when a hero is within range. I tend to give them bronzed flesh . The fact it is so command point intensive (each combat phase) is the only reason I dropped them from 2 squads of 3.  In range of the Bloodscrator I can count on them to do 18 wounds at 2 damage before saves for a relatively small footprint in a four "man" unit. I like them a lot in a Skullfiend Tribe even without the little extras they bring like shooting, a better than average move and the chance to heal a wound so I think 100pts is a fair price for them.

    Was the re-roll to hits of 1 coming up often?

    The re-rolling ones when within range of an enemy hero I forget almost every match apart from the last where a necromancer was bubble-wrapped by the skeletons and were fighting my Knights.

    Enemy heroes counted as being slain by an attack for purposes of the Skullfiend command trait?

    It happened once during the day and my opponent was quite happy to give me two blood-tithe.

  5. So I went to the second of a series of 8 tournaments across the year at my local gaming store.  I viewed it as a good benchmark as the first was just before the new Tome and this one the first with the new Tome. Old Tome list was Gore Pilgrims, 10 fleshounds, 3 khorgraths, Wrath of Khorne and a BTIR with Ghyrstrike. New list I will post later as post is getting too long

    Both tournies had the same format with predefined realms and features , missions and secondary objectives of slay the general, line-breaker and a player chosen hidden agenda that had to be different each game. Its always well planned and has freebies given out during the course of the day for such things as rolling all ones for hits or first to slay the opponents general.

    First match I was drawn against Daughters of Khaine  in realm of fire with feature being steam clouds and mission focal points. Morathi , Hag, Altar, big block of witch elves and 4 squads of snakes most of which were in a battalion that rebounded hits of 1's as mortal wounds.  He set up 2 bow snakesunits on my left, 2 spear snake units on my right with everything else in the center. I set up fleshounds way out on my right but in range of my right hand objective, bloodreavers on my home objective and knights as far forward on the left but out of LOS. warriors screened the centre where all my heroes were.

    I went first to get into a better position in the centre and then in his turn  he edged round terrain  to get his units line of sight and some reavers and bloodwarriors died to shooting and spells. My second turn  the dice gods smiled and I reached his Snakes with the BTIR and the Khorgraths and the Knights on the other flank, Knights tarpitted but lost 3 to mortal wounds from my own rolls. Khorgraths were close enough to drop the skullfiend command ability on them and both squads of snakes disappeared. He won priority Morathi had to pop as the banner of wrath had taken  3 wounds off her last turn. Bloodthirster died to Morathi and last of the warriors died to Witchelves but they in turn died to Khorgraths and the Knights killed the last remaining snakes  to leave me in range of all his objectives bar one.  I had enough Bloodtithe to bring a BTIR on and chased the Cauldron, Morathi  and Hag  until I cornered them with the Knights , allowing me to kill them all in the last turn and win on objectives. A great fun game against a good opponent.

    This left me at the top of the list , 2nd and 3rd were FEC and the other BOK player 4th playing four Bloodthirsters

    Second game was a perfect storm of mission, realmscape feature, and opponents army. It was artifact only heroes and wizards  scoring with 6 on a run or 10 on a charge causing mortal wounds to you, against 4 Zombie dragons with three wizards. It was pointless trying for the win so went for secondaries and kill points. End of turn one I  realised due to other reasons I really didn't want to play for another 2 hours so conceded for no score but was able to relax and watch the other games. Second BOK player also conceded turn two.

     There was a bonus to that last match as it meant I finally got a game against  someone I had met many times at tournaments but never been drawn against ( to the point its become a standing joke that we never would) with his Nagash list block of 40  block skeletons, knights, necromancer, 2 morghasts and a few more skeletons along with the portal endless spell. Mission was battle for the pass which helped me a lot due to the short table edges. Long story short due to where the objectives were he had to bring Nagash into range of the Alter, Fleshounds, Bloodscrator and Slaughterpreists second turn.

    Each turn my bloodtithe just went on auto unbind but I did manage to dodge the hand of dust through the portal on Nagashs first turn. BTIR killed the Morghasts and carnage put some wounds on Nagash . Knights with brazen flesh charged his home objective held by the necromancer and the 40 skeletons and stayed there for four turns. His Knights charged the Khorgraths on the other flank holding an objective but after causing 15 wounds I got to fight back with the three survivors with command ability active which killed them all. Nagash finaly died to a six wound bloodboil when he rolled  4 ones and 2 twos for his invun.

    The resanguition Priest was invaluable healing the reflected mortal wounds throughout the match.  What was funny several times the reroll successful spells attribute from the bloodscrator   helped Nagash get his 9+ cast bonus to the point I nearly ran him out of range. Again a great fun game against a good opponent which  gave me a second win.

    So despite only winning two I came 5th overall compared to 3rd with the old tome. Most of the players had been to both tournaments but this one had more entries so I came away with a good feeling about the new Tome.

    I was reading our prayers last night and realized Resanguination only works on KHORNE HEROES so it can’t be used on things like Mighty Skullcrushers, Blood Crushers or Khorgoraths.

    And guess whose list went in last night for  a tournament tomorrow 🙁. Running 3  Priests with fury/flesh and resanguination. At least it will keep a hero in the game for another round possibly

    Yes but also Bloodstoker can only whip KHORNE MORTALS which means no Khorgorath and no Daemons :( People only!

    I run 2 units of 3 Khorgraths but run them as Skullfiend Tribe so get re-roll to hits and wounds for a command point 😀

        Bloodscrator cant whip Deamons so can't give the BTIR +3" move and re-roll 1's to wound

    Should have read as Bloodstoker

    Just as a reminder, Khorne won Cancon 2019 not that long ago. I don't think the book has changed that much that all of a sudden they are bottom tier.

    While I share your sentiments about Khorne not being bottom tier the list you quoted  is probably a bad example and has been nerfed heavily .

    I don't know how he used it  but its set up for a first turn charge of the BTIR maximising the mortal wounds output to all units within 8" I assume.

         Wrath of Khorne cant give run and charge with 1" extra any more to the BTIR

        Bloodscrator cant whip Deamons so can't give the BTIR +3" move and re-roll 1's to wound

        The AOE attack of the BTIR is now a natural 6 instead of originally a 5 or 6 with Ghyrstrike, re-rolling ones

    Some things got better though

        Blood warrior gorefists

        Free warhost

       Cheaper Battalion with fewer requirements.

      Mobile Bloodscretor

     Free shrine

    Just gotta say I love that crazy amount of Korgoraths! :o

    No idea what you'd drop as I've never run anything like that, and I don't own Scyla.

    How did the bleeding icon do?

    Whenever I went second it would "phase-out" on the battle round end and there was never a time I could safely put a Priest within 8". But it chips away at units with mortal wounds much like I am hoping with the banner , I tried all 3 in my initial match but the skulls  tended to go before the opponents turn so achieved nothing and the Axe was difficult to summon consistently even with re-rolls.

  11. So new to the forum but not new to Khorne. With a new tome I thought it was also time to join in the discussions as well. New tome I am happy with but little disappointed that my Blood Reavers didn't get a slight discount so I could play horde.

    Just played four games over the weekend against competitive Stormcast and Sylvaneth Players both of who place high in local Tournaments.

    3 wins and a loss (the first)

    As an owner of 10 Khorgoraths I went with the Skullfiend Tribe and squeezed 6 into the list with 2 squads of 3. In each of the games they performed amazing when buffed with the re-roll all hits and wounds from the Host  Command Ability,  outperforming my BTIR.

    I took the minimum GorePilgrim units to get the Battalion apart from an extra priest. My list was as follows.

    Gore Pilgrims

    5 Blood warriors

    10 Blood Reavers

    3 Slaughter Priests

    1 Bloodscrator (with +4"/fly artifact)

    10 Fleshounds

    3 Khorgoraths

    3 Khorgoraths

    BTIR (General, with 2A artifact from Host)

    Scyla Anfingram (now no longer a hero /leader and piles in 8")

    Bleeding icon

    The only trouble I had was getting the 3 Khorgoraths all within 10" of a hero at the start of the combat phase. The Bloodthirster has tended to shoot off elsewhere to deal with a threat so I was left with the Bloodscrator  with the 4" extra move. However I read the discussion about Valkia and have a spare 20pts. So if I drop a 100pt model, either Priest or Scyla,

    I could fit her in and that also frees up an artifact. I like Scyla for the 8" pile in and who doesnt like another Blood Boil and Unbind so I am unsure which to drop. Or even drop the BTIR for a 3rd squad of 3 Khorgoraths but I would run out of command points quickly. The freed up artifact i would probably take is the banner of wrath.

    So what does the collective wisdom reckon? Any glaring mistakes or legality in the list?
