I get the feeling vorgaroth will become a nice paperweight sooner rather than later the way that the mothership and fw are going. :(

Due to the fact that he is quite new and has especially been released for AoS I think he will be around for the next few years. Everything on top of that (like a bigger part in the lore of the faction) of course is just wishful thinking.

Absolutely, or perhaps a rethink of the Khorne lorde on juggernaut but on an exalted juggernaut so its biggerer and betterer, or even a khorne lord on massive double sized flesh hound like the old Arbaal the undefeated  - a khorne rival to the chaos lord on krackerjack.

or... actually... just give me vorgaroth the scarredon on foot.  A Khorne lord that won't get mashed into a pulp by an elf with a silly hat and a meat tenderiser on a stick.

Let me just add Chaos lord on Dragon because who doesn't want to ride a dragon if you're a lord at the top  of your game  (and the right side of 100 as opposed to 394 bones) and hellcannon to that list.

All great ideas, I think in general Khorne needs a real "faction leader" like Glottkin for Nurgle or Sigvald/Glutos for Slaanesh. My personal opinion is Khorgos Khul in his current form is kind of lame so a return from Arbaal would be welcome, or a push for Valkia or put Vorgaroth into the fluff.

I would be very surprised, because that would mean that they successfully kept three planned factions/expansions completely under wraps for months: Hedonites, Lumineth and now OBR. There were nearly no rumour engines for any of these factions. Plus, presumably Gravelords in the near future. Would make 2021 a very crowded year.

I think OBR getting an extra kit is possible, though. Even if FEC needs more models a lot more urgently.

I agree it is rather unlikely, especially with Gravelords around the corner. I think there are a few OBR related rumour engines but they could of course be Underworld related.

On the other hand I have the feeling GW want to present OBR as one of their new "flagships" so I would not been surprised if they receive a second wave within the next 6 months. Especially when I see what happens with Lumineth and Slaanesh.

That other faction are much more in need of an update!!!!!!!!!

I know, but with that they would have 3 "new" armies with a very good and new model range (Slaanesh, Lumineth, OBR). Could make sense from a marketing/sales point of view?

  5. Great Thread!

Personally I am really looking forward to this little guy to arrive.  It`ll bring my Blades of Khorne to about 10k points and will kind of "finish" my first AoS army.  It will be great to be "done" with this big project but it will also be great to find a new army after that.

So Forgeworld went back to classify units into Grand alliances. i am going to go on a limb and say that everything in the AoS range (even Gloomspite units and greater daemons) is going to be purge really really soon.

probably the best time to get any model is now

Don`t think that they will discontinue the daemons since they are also usable in 40k (and just received new printed rules there). On top we got 5 kits which are relative new and were an explicit AoS release (2x Stormcast heads, Khorne Dragon, Skaarac, Mazarall).  Can`t imagine they`ll discontinue them soon.

Maybe FW will just stay with the current shrunken AoS line since all of the remaining kits are selling good?

For new units: Inspired by Valkia I could imagine Khorne to take up some Valkyries. Winged Daemons with Spears, specialised on High-Rend or maybe in hunting flying models. The same could be a multikit with a bow, allowing some ranged units. As mentioned above, I could imagine them to get some more daemonic machines similar to the Skullcannon

    Great ideas!

I could also imagine new plastic versions for Valkia, Scyla or on of the Juggerlords. Maybe Khorngors (heavy armour bullgors?) or any kind of mortal centerpiece model?

I'd also be bold and say that I think that GW plastic kits are so good now that the demand for FW to produce alternative versions of models  for AoS & 40k has largely vanished.

Regarding AoS I think this is the direction  in which it is developing, yes. If we look at the current FW AoS range compared  to the big GW platic kits (Mega Gargant) we have :

    "oversize/overprice" compared to plastic range:

    - Vorgaroth & Skalok

    - Dread Saurian

    - Exalted Bloodthirster

    - Exalted LoC

    - Maybe Skaarac

"could be used as alternate models for existing GW units":

    - Exalted KoS => regular KoS

    - Exalted GUO => regular GUO

    - Warpgnaw Verminlord => other kind of Verminlord

    - Bonegrinder Gargant => Mega Gargant

    - Khorne Prince + Herald

    - Nurgle Prince + Herald

    - Night Goblin Command

    - Stormcast Heads

"no comparable plastic model, but would fit regarding size and price":

    - Rogue  Idol

    -Mourngul

    - Squig Gobba

    - Colossal Squig

    - Troggoth Hag

    - Plague Toads/Poxriders

    - Mazarall The Butcher

    - Legion of Azgorh

When I see this, there are only 4-5 kits left which are really bigger/more expensive than the big plastic kits we already have with only two kits (Vorgaroth/Skalok and Dread Saurian) being really "supersize". So yes, it looks like the time for FW as being the company with the "big kits" could be over.  I think with 40k the things look a litte different with all the titan stuff etc..

  9. Hi everybody,

sorry for bringing up such an old thread, but I was asking myself about the future of AoS  @ Forgeworld  and I`d like to know what you think regarding this.

I think there are four possibilities  how the situation could develop in the long term:

    1) GW will bring out a book smilar to the compendium in 40k => Unlikely in my opinion, would be a very thin book

    2) GW will put the remaining "big" models in future battletomes => Also unlikely, but would be my favorite solution.

    3) Support will slowly expire and all rules will be moved to legends => Due to the lack of support in the last years I fear this could be how it will happen in the end

    4) Support goes on with 1 or 2 releases every few years

Sorry for being a bit negative on this, but have there been any statement or news in the last months that I missed?  As far as I know the last releases were the Stormcast heads and 1 or 2 years later a lot of models have been discontinued. Do you guys have any information and/or ideas what will happen with AoS Forgeworld?

  10. Hi everybody,

this is my first post here and I´m relatively new to AoS. What I´d like to ask is do you think the new book and especially the new artefacts and locus of fury will change anything regarding the usefulness of any of the FW models like Mazarall or the exalted BT?
