Ok understood, that timeline is heartening then atleast 🙂 Looking forward to that!

What do we lack exactly in Sylvaneth do you think? Does there appear to be a pretty sensible way to progress the army, when it comes to unit additions or general rules/tactical options?

Does someone else, except me , thinking than maybe "forest vs mushroom" could be wood elves vs grot ? they used Carrion Empire for update two old armies?

I wish that the new piece of terrain could be something related to the "souls pods"

So it seems to me like the Chaos warbands are all going to be from a different realm - the article says the Iron Golem are from Chamon and the other guys from the reveal trailer have a real Ghur vibe. I really like that.

If that proves true, what other realms do you think we’re going to see? Guessing nothing for Realm of Chaos or Azyr.

I am looking forward to see how a Chaos war band from the Realm of Light looks like.

Note: My apologies, I thought this was posted days ago. Just now found it saved in the editor.

The Carrrion Empire boxsets sold out in preorder and there has been no indications the GW will be producing any more of them.  This has happened before on the AOS side of things.  Box price on the Flayers/Horrors is not kind.  So currently the only cheap GW option is the Start Collecting FEC, thankfully it has solid value.  Anyone newly stepping into FEC should just get four of these, build all the muscle as only Flayers or Horrors, eBay the single missing Crypt model, buy ghoul unit boxes as desired.

My muscle totals are:  1x Crypt Haunter Coutier, 2x Cruypt Infernal Courtiers, 12x Crypt Horrors, 18x Crypt Flayers.  If I ever need to run the warscroll battalions the units have the option for six models,

In the upcoming AOS League I’ll be running either Generic FEC with Feast Day or Blisterskin at various battles.  When playing Blisterskin there will always be a unit of Flayers, the repositioning command ability is so tactically flexible (combine it with Cogs and they have a decent chance of getting the charge).  The trick will be buying just enough for their job (3 or 6) while minimizing the points drawn away from the ghoul masses.  At lower 1k battles my Generic FEC list wouldn’t have any muscle units.  Ghouls, Arcregent, Crypt Ghast Courtier, and GKoTG will be the options.

    Note : no worries 😃

Thank you for your analysis, has helping my out a lot to plan the future buying/modeling/painting process.

Could I ask you why you do not have any Varghulf? For just fewer point more seems an auto-include to me ^^

About the battalions, are really important or not? For example between "deadwatch" and "attendant at court" I am struggling a bit to decide which I should pick. Is there anywhere than I could learn tactics and tricks for deployment and similar? Maybe could sound a bit wired, but I wish find a balance between fun game/fluff-themed army/and competitiveness.

Whatever you build keep a few things in mind.  When assembling a Courier you get two spare miniatures, that means you need three sets and build three Courtiers to avoid extras.  It takes units of six for good odds of survival against moderate enemy retaliation.  Units of nine will bump into each other and cause contact problems, only go for it if unit survival is that important.

For the record I picked up three of the carrion empire box sets, already had two but purchased four more Start Collecting FEC.  With all of that I have just enough models for proper muscle warscroll batallions.   Whatever route you go be aware of your army’s needs and how much it is going to costs.

Could you ex plain in a deeper way your point of view, may shearing a couple of practical examples?

I think that every one new to the hobby could find that beneficial.... monetary talking if some one want own 12/15/18 models of either Horrors or Flayers should they just buying SCB or splitting the investment between SCB and box of Crypt ?

  5. 7 minutes ago, Kaz said:

Actually I thought most players preferred either Blisterskin Deathwatch (Most youtubers I saw seem to love it), or Gristlegore Monster Spam, with almost no horror spam or ghoul spam

If you do buy 18 of each, GW would approve! More money, means more sculpts, and higher chance of more cool models for FEC MWAHAHAHA

I was thinking. I literally have the Balrog (I used to play lord of the rings strategy battle game). He’s on a 60mm. I was considering making him either my Blades of Khorne daemon Prince or a Varghulf Courtier... what do you guys think?

a noble champion of the king to lead us gloriously into battle , or an infernal demonic foe for us heroic knights to ride out and slay ?

I am just afraid that in few months they will nerf to the oblivion this combo...

Anyway...I suggest tu use the Balrog as Varghuf 😃

I just got my Dweller in the Dark model and will be using it for my Vargheist. Looks like it'll work great- it has fur already on the back and will be easy to add more with green stuff. The two front arms are actually almost identical in diameter to cryft flayer arms- they will fit pretty nicely with some green stuff. Not sure if I'm going to just use flayer arms or clip the flayer wings off and stick to the arms yet.

Could you post some pictures for comparison when u will have the chance?  I am quite curios

I saw this conversion, now it'll unfortunately require GS sculpting but it may be able to hide the back problem. Use Vargheist/Flayer Wings, on the BACK and then use the horror arms.

I think maybe if you built a Vargheist but painted it more stonelike, then it would look decent? The fur may be a problem but not as problematic as the crypt horror exposed flesh.

Yep exactly what I was thinking about: the exposed flesh/ piercing bones could be a real problem ...

The "dweller in the dark" from LOTR it's a very good example of what I meant.. As I do not think than using Prosecutors and changing the head/wings and weapon could ever working out...

Thank you such cool ideas 😃

I was wondering how a FEC "gargoyle"(maybe using a different stone color like obsidian) army could look and how could be possible achieve the  result....(maybe using a different stone color like obsidian). My main concern is to give an "statue" aspect to the Crypt Flayers... Damn Dark Souls 1 XD

  9. Nice to hearing that I wasn't the only one XD

Btw I was thinking to use maybe just few weapons/the gut armor and similar bits...but I was not so sure about the difference in size ^^''

Anyway the general ideas is to use this kind of scrappy bits left/right for give the general aspect of something "took at random" and "used someway/somehow"I hope that what I am trying to say will have some sense...

What about different heads? Like  the wolf from the Fenrisian wolf or maybe the  Gryph hound? O r are them too small?

  10. Hi everyone !

I do not know if this is the right topic, but I will give a try 😃

I wish understand how much could be difficult&expensive converting some of the FEC units like both of the Horrors/Flayers and the others heroes. I will trying to explain a bit better : my idea is to  themed the army around Chamon, the realm of Metal( or maybe Ghur but I am not too sure) ,and I do not like the thing to own many similar models....

    Here there are few questions:

    1) how big are the heads of the Crypt Horrors/Flayer and which I could use as alternative?

    2) Which kits/sprues can "get along" with that ones of FEC ? Especially when comes to armors pieces? ( Even 40k )

    3) Any suggestions about a "non canonical " scheme of colour than could match Chamon ?

    4) Just the bases could be enough for " unify " the army ?

p.s. thank you in advance for yours answers

p.s.s. sorry but the English is not my first language

p.s.s.s .I do apologise in case the is not the appropriate topic.

So double battalions is tricky. If I was headed down that route I would prob combine up the horrors and take royal family as the 2nd.

That way you get an additional extra attack spell, and the 2 GKs on foot can dump 2x10 ghouls on to the field to be chaff or grab objectives.

    -1AA -200

    - battalion -110

    - 1 unit of horrors -160

    + 2 AGK +280

    + 1 Royal family +120

Net is 70 points to play with, just some thoughts

    Leaders
    Abhorrant Archregent (200)
    - General
    - Trait: Grave Robber
    - Lore of Madness: Spectral Host
    Abhorrant Ghoul King  (140)

    - Lore of Madness Blood Feast

    - Artefact Corpsefane Gauntlet
    - Lore of Madness: Bonestorm

    Crypt Haunter Courtier (120)
    - Artefact The Flayed Pennant

    Battlelines

    Crypt Horrors x6 (320)

    Crypt Horrors x6 (320)

    Crypt Ghouls x10 (100)

    Behemoths

    Terrorgaist (300)

    Battalions

    Attendants of at Court (110)

    Royal Family (120)

    Endless Spells

    Balewind Vortex (40)

    Calice (40)

1950/2000 (free points are going in extra CPS ) WOUNDS 98  TOTAL CPS (without first turn) 3  TOTAL DROPS 4

As you  @Gdead909  suggested the 2 GKs on foot can dump 2x10 ghouls on to the field to be chaff or grab objectives. Meanwhile AA will summon a Vareghulf. Then the Gk with the leadership   debuff and blood feast will hug close the Terrorgheist and healing him while the other GK will try to work in tandem  with the Vareghulf.

    How does it looks now?

  12. Hello everyone 😃

Here is my pick for FeC list and I would have some suggestions.

    ALLEGIANCE FeC  GRAN COURT HOLLOWMURNE

    Leaders
    Abhorrant Archregent (200)
    - General
    - Trait: Grave Robber
    - Lore of Madness: Spectral Host
    Abhorrant Archregent (200)
    - Artefact: Corpsefane Gauntlet
    - Lore of Madness: Blood Feast

    Crypt Haunter Courtier (120)
    - Artefact The flayed Pennant

    Crypt Haunter Courtier (120)
    - Artefact Medal of madness

    Battlelines

    Crypt Horrors x6 (320)

    Crypt Horrors x6 (320)

    Crypt Horrors x3 (160)

    Crypt Horrors x3 (160)

    Battalions

    Attendants of at Court (110)

    Attendants of at Court (110)

    Endless Spells

    Balewind Vortex (40)

    Calice (40)

1900/2000 (free points are going in extra CPS ) WOUNDS 98  TOTAL CPS (without first turn) 4  TOTAL DROPS 4

In theory I wish summons ghouls and Vaerghulf, until the general is alive the units in the battalions are rerolling hit, everyone is rerolling ones during the first charge, the 2 Crypt Haunters will help with the artefacts to pull off the important charges .(saveing important cp for feeding frenzy and ravenous crusaders).

Hey tree folks - looking for opinions.

I’m just starting AoS and have been advised to basically put together a list, work towards buying and modelling it, and then play it as it is for awhile to get to grips with everything (so minimising changes etc and just playing the same list for a bit while I familiarise myself with the game).

That being said, I’m putting together a 2K Harvestboon list, with the intention of being solidly competitive while also giving me access to a bit of everything and a few models I like, so I can expose myself to a lot of the Sylvaneth warscrolls and playstyle. I’m obviously very new to this, so any thoughts or general help people can provide would be great!

    LEADERS

    - Branchwraith x 2

    - Treelord Ancient

    - Tree Revs x 5

    - Spite Revs  x 5

    BATTALIONS

    - Harvestboon

    - Forest Folk

Bang on 2000. Does this look like it might help me achieve my goal of entering the hobby with a reasonably capable list and lots of exposure to different unit types and phases of the game etc??

Hi ^^ the list look nice to me, just not my style (too many dryads) , which spell/ artefacts did u give at your heros? Why the bows on the Hunters?

Uhm... I do not play stormcast...Anyway I think that your list seems quite umbalanced. Maybe you should drop Aventis and take the Incantor plus another mage if u want use the comet( cast and then dispell the next turn and etcetc ) , as I think than you will have problems to contest the objectives or have enough raw damage out put to clear a blob of chaff.

I think than stormacast works better with more "small heores" than with just a couple of strong one 😃 for example for the same cost of the big guy on dragon you can have Castellant + Celestant + 15 Sequitors (30 W at 2 + AS rerollable with Staunch Defender and lantern) and this is just an example 😃

    Hi,

The sprues are visible on the GW website, and I think I can only see 10 combinations of bits which would suggest that you do need to build the grot-chomping one, but without the instruction booklet or hands on experience, its difficult to be certain.

I did  bit of a search on google/youtube, and take my words with a pinch o salt, but I seem that the squigs itself does note have a lot of options😅

Have you thought to use the Hopper instead?

    Hi Git-Collectors :)

Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere, it was a bit tricky to search for.

In the Squig herd box set, one squig is pictured with a grot trapped in its mouth. Does the sprue contain enough pieces that you could construct the full 10 squigs without this variation? I want to use them in a non-grot based conversion.

    Thank you!

    Hi.

Have you tried to search the actual pictures of the sprues online?

So, looking through the images again, I think there is a good case to be made for the fact that we will have multiple Grand Alliances, maybe even at launch, or soon after.

So, take a look at this image:

    E751403E-A970-4537-9AFE-C294CEFDD72D.png.e9a13c8b048eaa47d6d3c30566af0d73.png.e6aa4e2697922aa09246d4117f8220dd.png

As has been observed elsewhere, note that the center symbol is not a faction symbol. Observe:

    w21.png.38d3fbf3e86b7232f95af1716b564ab4.png

The last piece of this is the starter box.  Check out the lower left hand corner.GAMAReveals-Mar11-Warcry9gce.jpg.fb9511cc711afc773248b601e890e7d3.jpg

My proposal is that the symbol  (which looks roughly like the 8 pointed chaos star) represents the Chaos grand alliance warbands in Warcry, and this is what is being previewed. Based on branding, let me go one step further and suggest that the garish red banner on the box also marks or is associated with the Grand Alliance Chaos branding.  Check out the first image again and notice that the red is used as the backdrop for the symbol here. My called shot is that we will likely get other starter sets for other grand alliances that will have different associated symbols and colors.  If I were to take a guess, I would say that we'll see blue (Order), black or purple (Death), and green or yellow (Destruction). I recognize this is grasping for straws, but it seems to make sense of the data we have.

Yep, I do agree with you. I my hopes was than the showed somenthing more about AoS like : Slaanesh, light&dark aelves....this kind of stuffs.

I don't think you have enough battlelines, do you? Only 2x Squigs herds. Also, I think 3 mangler squigs is a bit overkill, I'd add more boingrots and another squig herd instead of one of the manglers!Maybe some grots?

Yep I do have enough battleline ,four in total (x2 hoppers, x2 herds) because the loonboss make the hoppers battleline, and been grots as general makes the herd battle line.

yep maybe 3 Manglers looks quite a bit overkilly.....I just hold too many boingrots because I am afraid of point increase/ the nerfbat of doom-_- in few months.

The Manglers it will be the only unit to do not running away...and are a "glass/squig cannon" I think; just I wish give to my adversary more distractions than what I could be able to manage.

  20. Hello everyone, here there is my pick for Gloomspite squig list 🍄

Due the fact that I am new to AoS and ever played before, I wish know your opinions about it^_^

Should be between fun and "half competitive"

    Enjoy 😃

    • Squig Herd x6 (70)
    • Squig Herd x6 (70)
    • Boingrot Bounderz x10 (200)

    • Squigalanche (90)

    Command point x2

    Wounds 134

    Artefacts 2/3

    Points 2000/2000

     Few questions:

    1. Are better big units or small units for Hoppers/Boingrots ?
    2. Which kits does suits/match  better for conversion/themed army from Uglu?
    3. Which others artifacts are worth taking?

  21. Thank you for your opinion, in general I do like the cavalry/shooting armies, and I am not really keen on painting lots of models

I wish just find a bit of a balance between fun&half competitive list.

From a simple kitbashing/conversion PoW which kit suits better with the Idoneth? I wish theme the army from Chamon 😃
