  1. I enjoyed the narrative in this one.  Some random thoughts.

Definately setting things up for the return of Kurnothi.  Although it sounded like Belthanos is the avatar of Kurnoth so we are unlikely to see Kurnoth as a model.

Interesting that there is the plan to trap Kragnos again, and that Gobsprakk is keen to get rid of him.  The narrative feels like it is picking up.

I also like that Khul is depicted as actually thinking, whereas Vandus is blinded by rage as a result of his re-forgings.

I like the lead in and will be interesting to see who is covered in the next book as could see arguments for it being either Chaos or Undead (seems like Aquishy is Chaos and Gyran is Undead threatened).

Keen to see what Asteria and the sacrosact are doing with their search for the Summer King.  Wonder if they're the ones who end up letting him out.

  2. Interesting that the manticore character revealed for cities has weapons/relics named after some of the highlords that are mentioned in Harbingers, for example hammer of fate from Pontifex Fente (chief priest page 21), heavy mace from Venalis treasurer (page 9).  Might be the 2nd book needs to wait for Cities Box at least to avoid spoilers and the blurb for Hammerhal's lioness indicates that she ends up killing them.

Callis and Toll also look to be investigating corruption so would tie in with that.

  3. A fun preview, but sad for my beastmen.  Only one model, and given the track record for AOS so far, expecting nothing further.

Not really sure if GW has a plan for all of the finecast in AOS at this point as there hasn't really been any evidence that they intend to remove it or phase it out.

I expect gloomspite to get a nighthaunt sized release (so another kit or 2, one of which will be a character).

    Please share this goodness.

It's a reference that during the era of the beast, Bad Moon arises and Moonclan Grots and Spiderfang attack Syar, but are joined by raider clans of Gitmob from the plains of Hysh.  The rampage of the greenskins effectively forces them to unearth and use weapons and magic from the Ocari Dara.

  5. I have been happy about the development in the fluff around warcry Heart of Ghur with the crashed Seraphon ship and how it has been picked up in the Tzeentch BT (looks like Kairos played a part in attacking and bringing it down),  The latest WD on the Legionnaires also has fluff that Belakor is concerned there is something in there that can muck up burning skies/storms of chaos.  To me this is feeling similar to the Varonite that was in the previous edition of Warcry, which played a large role in kicking off the new narrative.

Also liked the mention of Gitmob in the Lumineth tome.

Yeah I think there’s some other stuff going on. For example, you’re working on a couple of projects as a sculptor but you go off ill for a while. Yes somebody could pick up the work but that has a impact on what they are doing and so on. I think they’ve had a bit of that stuff going on (and probably people changing roles etc). Also with how far GW probably works ahead and you miss your slot for producing a kit, that has a impact as well. We will never know unless somebody internally with the info talks about it. I’m sure the AOS team are just as frustrated with the game getting it’s releases like this

It's just a low priority for them.  The issues in the world aren't new anymore and seem to be impacting AOS releases far more than anything else GW does. Feels like necromunda and probably Blood Bowl have had more miniature releases in the last 12 months.

Outside of the launch armies (Stormcast and KB), in the 12 months following the release of 3rd there have only been 4 model kits and a terrain box (incl Krondspine) which aren't a single infantry hero or battle tome for AOS.  And those tomes are lucky if they have more than 1 piece of new art in them (no new covers anymore) and an extra page or 2 of fluff.  The focus on books rather than minis is making this feel more like a bad RPG.

That doesn't look like it will change until the Slaves of Darkness release at the end of the year/early next year.  And I suspect that's it as with a new 40K edition its unlikely to change much for AOS releases next year.

At this point it feels like GW is seeing how much money they can make with the least effort.

Hopefully this evening we get an announcement for an Online Preview next weekend, during which they announce the title of the next Underworlds Season.

Which Warbands do you think will be present? I think Kruelboyz are a safe bet. I'm hoping for some Kharadron and Skaven alongside Ogor Mawtribes or an updated Mancrusher model!!

It seems that Underworlds is a bit of predictor for where the focus shifts (Shyish to Ghur), I would suspect/hope next would be the realm of Shadow.

For warbands I would like to see Kruelboyz, Stormcast, Dispossesed, Spiderfang, Mancrusher/Maneater, Unmbraneth, Eshin, Tzeentch (Ogrid Thematurge)

I have received the newest issue of the white dwarf today and the last few pages are dedicated to a story that follows Grungni, it involves dialogues with many other gods. Without spoiling it, I have found the story to be excellent, I really can't wait to see what GW have planned for duardins in the future!

Agree, this story was wonderful.  Really got good insights into Grungi and some of the other gods.

  9. I am glad that we got an update and mentioned (for a while it looked like we were forgotten).  Still have no idea why they decided the Jabber warscroll was 1 of the 2 that needed to be updated though (would have thought the plastic DO's or Gors would have made more sense).

Like most of you these aren't going to instantly make Beasts more competitive, but they are free improvements (maybe some opportunity cost).

  10. As for books after dominion, after the SCE and KB I think it will be the books that got new scrolls in BR.  Simply because those will probably be gone from general sale in a year or so and GW will want to have those rules (other than battalions) available in a book.  So that would leave Idoneth, Nighthaunt, Nurgle, Fyreslayers, Khardron, Beasts, Gits, Sylvaneth and Skaven.  Probably Nurgle and Nighthaunt first.

That's the best story in a while!! I loved it, really hope it bodes well for BOC in 3.0 they deserve the spotlight.

Agree, this and the Malerion story have been my favourites so far.  Wonder if the release of life magic will trigger a reaction from the Shadowgave

  12. Really enjoyed that.  Although I play a lot of armies the beasts are one of my faves.

Hopefully the rise of life will signal a reaction from the Shadowgave, and perhaps there are some unintended consequences for the Sylvaneth with their ritual.

  13. I could see Fyreslayers and the city dwarves being combined, but including Kharadron is pretty odd.  The super religious guys with the anti-god tech guys feels wrong.

I could see a seperate Grungi faction that could take 1 in 4 of each of them though.
