  1. Hello, advice on the below? This is the core of what I want to bring. Trying to figure out how to spend my last 250 odd points. Was thinking Grey Seer and 20 more clan rats. I could also see units of night runners to take up some board space along with some giant rats, or more special weapons. I have enough time to basically paint up another unit of anythin, and I own pretty much 1 of everything to paint. Basic idea is to double death frenzy the rat ogres in, get them killed and try it again while the warbringer and his crew move up. Unit of clan rats dropping in front with the warpfire thrower trying to clear out some single wound models.

  2. Looking to do an entmoot style list. Haven't played in the new book alot, was very familiar with the old book, but didn't lean into big trees. Looking to take one of the below to a single day tournament but I won't have the opportunity to playtest both lists. Idea behind the first is Durthu as my strike and fade while the Ancient who has gnarlwarrior which isn't showing tags some units and tries to pin them. Second list would be Everqueen smashing in and the same gimmick with the Ancient. Thinking about dropping the warsong in the first for Drycha possible or the newer named hero branchwych.

Well ideally competitively against a range of opponents.

I'm not sure about having no screens but rat ogers seems quite good for their points cost and coming back on a 3+ seems really good.

I ran a sort of similar list with warbringer over warpseer and a 30 of storm vermin. You get one unit of rat ogres up field with dread death frenzy and death frenzy, rinse and repeat while the warbringer and stormvermin March up and slap. The stormvermin suck up damage for the master molders and the warbringer.

Take in mind that it's a core mechanic that all armies, units, points, abilities and the whole balance of the game are build around it.  Look at it as a feature.
For anyone that don't know, Conquest games start with no units on the table, and each turn, your active unit need to rolls a dice and see if it can enter the battlefield. Not all units can enter at the same time, some units are "light" and can enter in early turns (1-3), others are "meddium" and can only enter in the mid turns (2-4) and last ones are "heavy" and can only

For whatever reason I find this mechanic immersion breaking. I don't know why this is the line I draw but army showing up to the battle in spurts and waves with a bunch of stragglers coming on late seems weird.

The reality is if anyone played it in my area (looking at you south metro MN USA) I would give it a try.

Back to the point. My main AOS opponent and I are hopeful to try AA in AOS sometime but we play maybe once a month and that makes it difficult to arrange.

AA I've only seen work well in a wargame (as opposed to skirmish) with Conquest. And I think a lot of it is down to what is not seen; many exploitative tactics taking advantage of AA simply don't work and so don't appear in gameplay. Writing AA for AoS would mean dealing with such eventually, another layer on top of basic functionality. Otherwise it would just trade one set of exploits for another, and at that point people overwhelmingly prefer to stick with what they know.

I only play skirmish games with AA. Only larger game I play is AOS. What are the exploits you see with AA in a larger scale war game? I cannot think of any off the top of my head. Conquest looks fun and I like the card activation system alot but the units coming on in waves puts me off.

  6. Had a great weekend going 4-1 at a 38 player event and finishing 6th overall. Two other Sylvaneth players and I end up drawing against both of them. Too much tree on tree violence. My Everqueen was turned into a tree by an opponents Everqueen. Played a bee bomb list with six scythes, warsong, Everqueen and lots of poor cannon fodder.

Ok, cool. Let's chat about the 2022 news:

    1) you face Nurgle (20+10 plaguebearers or 4x5 blightkings, choose one). What's your strategy?

    2) you face Bastian + 4 Stormdrakes + 6 Raptors in one drop. What's your strategy?

    1) Lift them off the table with murder bacon and fat lizards

    2) Die screaming 🤷

  8. Is this list legal at 1000 points? I don't know if I can take two universal artifacts or it I have to take one from the books.

Would three littles and a kraken eater be better at 1000 points doubles? My partners list is going to be very light also with Troggs.

  9. In a teams game with one player at 1000 points would one mega and three littles be better or two bigs. I feel that the bigs just have so much better staying power, but three littles would be better for board control. Partner would most likely be rocking slaves to darkness

  10. Hello, would a chaos nurgle marked unit in a slave to darkness army count as the bold worded version Nurgle and thus proxy all the mirror match nurgle stuff where you can heal them? Would the gnarlmaw benefit them? Wondering how that would work for a teams game, if my partners STD units would benefit from my stuff

  11. Hello, going to my first tournament and I am looking for some advice between the two lists below or really any pointers to competitive play as I really just play my same buddy.  I am really only partial to the Alarielle in the list as I just finished a conversion. I don't have extra dryads so it doesn't make sense to me to bring a Branchwych to summon them. I have a Durthu, Drycha, two branch ladies, bow hunters and sword hunters that I will most likely summon on a set of that I could sub into the below. I get in the new scoring the spite-revenants might just be giving away free points. My really only goal is to win one game and turn one person's hero into trees.

  12. I think I can convert up some gutter runners or some night runners. Not a competitive player, which one do people find more useful with 20 models available? I know that is kinda a loaded question without a list but I'm looking to do a little of everything

  13. I am thinking about attending a tournament in November. What could I make with the below units that would be viable? I play casually so I usually proxy stuff but below is what I actually have built and painted. I might be able to get another box of something painted and built by then but I have my doubts. If I had to get one more box of something what should it be?

    3 wyldwoods

    2 branchwraiths

    20 dryads

    15 spites

    10 tree revs

    6 k hunters with scythes

    3 k hunters bows

    3 k hunters swords

    Endless spells

    Drycha

    Treelord ancient

    Spirit of durthu

    Arch Rev

    Any advice would be appreciated.

All those little factions in that book count as an allegiance of  their own. So we can only choose from the list they provide us.

The whole army gets the Knights of the empty Throne allegiance and the books states you can have only 1 allegiance. Same thing why you can't play Ravagers and Cabalists.  IMO opinion the new books is as useless as it comes.

    Thank you

  15. Hello, can knights of the empty throne take a circle? I have heard conflicting comments on it and haven't seen anything official? Don't have the books but my understanding is no, while all the lists I see as examples of running it include the sixth circle. I am hopeful I am wrong and they can take a circle.

I would note that you can get Thundrik's profiteers (without cards) for 20. It's a fun little unit, and at the very least a Khemist (if you field Thundrik alone s just the vanilla Khemist) for less than the price of a regular Khemist.

I am debating getting another one, to have a few more alternate models in my dudes.

Thanks I am glad to hear that. I was looking at getting them for few fun models to paint whichever way I ended up going.... and as evil tech dwarfs in DND...

Yeah its pretty expensive unless you build into the Escort wing to start. And even then relatively expensive.

    But that way you can get 2/3 Start collectings. that's 15 thunderers, 6 Endrinrigger and 3 Skywardens/Endrinriggers*, 3 Gunhaulers. That's 1250 points.

Looking at your preferred playstyle add an Ironclad. That's 1760 points. And a solid core to a competitive army (as far as I can tell).
You then need to figure out Battleline and your Hero('s). Go Urbaz and your set on battleline, and imo the best skyport. Unless you take an endless spell and Khemist then go Ziflin. with that many ships the Navigator is a good option as well.

The most allround leader is the Endrinmaster with dirigible suit. It gives Endrinriggers battleline, it's decent in a fight, heals and has shots. You can either convert one of the endrinmasters in the start collecting or if you can find the actual Tzeentch vs KO box. And if so you can probably skip a start collecting as well. Although that would mean getting another Thunderers box. So it becomes a bit more expensive. But it's the better option imo.

On the arkanauts, yeah I think their very worth it. But I have a frigate not a Ironclad and have points for them as a result. (also answers your quetion about difficulty fitting everything in due to points ;) )

So my advice would be to start of cheap and build from there would be:

    Ironclad - €90
    2x Start collecting - €160
    half Aether war - €70 +-
    Navigator/khemist - €22,50
    Thunderers - 32,50
    Total - €342,50
Or a Start collecting instead of a Aether war and drop the box of thunderers.

That would be an, as far i can tell, a competitive list with options to build from/into. If you don't play Urbaz you need to split some Endrinriggers up though.
    List:

      Reveal hidden contents

    220 Endrinmaster with dirigible suit.
    100 Navigator/Khemist

    510 Ironclad
    360 Thunderers 15x
    300 Gunhauler 2x
    100 Skywardens 3

    140 Grundstock Escort Wing

    200 Endrinriggers 6x

Leaving you 70 points for an endless spell for the khemist/trade second hero for  3 skywardens more and a command point/ trade the hero/skywardens for 10 arkanauts. etc.

you're also not far of a Iron Sky Command Battalion.

As a final note. Thunderers are way more versatile with rifles and the damage difference even if you get everything in range is too small for me. So I chose rifles. (also helped that they were already modeled like that ;) )

Hope this helps. What is your first army? I also play mawtribes and like how the one is tricksy and the other smash face :)

*I'd suggest Skywardens in this set up as it's super useful to have that small 3 ballon squad to grab late game objectives and it reduces your drops by fitting in the

Thank you for the detailed write up and buy list. When looking at the battalions I noticed the one that does two+ frigates and two+ ark company, but I don't think I can get the Ironclad set up the way I want. Really glad to hear your thoughts on Thunderers also. Makes me feel more comfortable dropping cash into them.

Off topic of KO: I have just over 2000 points of Sylvaneth painted and a few models to still crack out. While I really like the army's look and theme I'd like another hobby project as it comes to a close. I think I can get away with very few purchases to get a good BRC themed army going, I like their lore, and I think if I had a buddy over that wanted to give the game a shot they are straightforward enough to pick up and play... unlike my Sylvaneth. But I think KO would feel more rewarding to play in the long run.

  17. Looking to start a second army and I find this one appealing, alongside Mawtribes and maybe Giants. Hoping to confirm some suspicions though: this is an expensive army to collect, going to want some Ark company units for objectives, Thunderers work best with mixed arms, difficult to fit everything in because of points (big ships, balloon boys, little ships, Thunderers for days)?  I can also usually tell what hero choices I want but ever list I toy with I have a hard time figuring out who to rate besides an endrigger boat healer.

Lots of Thunderers without their special guns rate? I like the look alot better.

I want to have big ships flying around dropping dudes down while blasting away with big guns everywhere, looking to feel like a elite expert battle force blitzing in and fading out.
