  1. I am getting ready to start playing aos - looking for feedback on my aelves of hammerhal lists:

I am at the stage where I can put this on the table. Any feedback or advice is most welcome. I feel like it is not 'focussed' enough but I am a little limited in models. I am concerned that I have no magic, but don't yet have a proxy for the hurricanum that would suit the all alves nature of the list.

    City: Hammerhal.

    Allegiance: Cities of Sigmar
    LEADERS
Anointed of Asuryan on Frostheart Phoenix (320)
    Anointed (100)
    - General      Command ability: "Blood of the twelve" re-roll wounds to hammerhal units within 12"
    Dreadlord on Black Dragon (300)

    - Lance of Spite & Tyrant Shield

    - Armour of Mallus (to give 2+ save)

    Black Ark Fleetmaster (60) (Adjutant)

    UNITS
    20 x Sisters of the Watch (320)
    10 x Phoenix Guard (160)
    20 x Phoenix Guard (320)
    10 x Phoenix Guard (160)
    5 x Drakespawn Knights (130)
    5 x Drakespawn Knights (130)
    TOTAL: 2000/2000 WOUNDS: 116
    LEADERS: 4/6 BATTLELINES: 3 (3+) BEHEMOTHS: 2/4 ARTILLERY: 0/4

My thinking is that the Pheonix Guard supported by the archers and the command abilities through the game (hoping to generate some CP, with 5 units with banners and an adjutant/ general combo) will hold and / or push a line.

The dragon and dragon princes (drakespawn knights) are to claim objectives or screen / support the line. I included them for the mobility.

My other option is to consider something like:

    Allegiance: Cities of Sigmar
    LEADERS
Anointed of Asuryan on Frostheart Phoenix (320)
    Battlemage (110)
    - City Role: General's Adjutant
    Freeguild General (100)
    - General
    UNITS
    20 x Sisters of the Watch (320)
    10 x Phoenix Guard (160)
    30 x Phoenix Guard (420)
    10 x Freeguild Greatswords (140)
    10 x Freeguild Greatswords (140)
    10 x Freeguild Greatswords (140)
    10 x Shadow Warriors (110)
    TOTAL: 1960/2000 WOUNDS: 122
    LEADERS: 3/6 BATTLELINES: 3 (3+) BEHEMOTHS: 1/4 ARTILLERY: 0/4
    ARTEFACTS: 0/1 ENDLESS SPELLS: 0/3 ALLIES: 0/400

Which seems a lot more static, but more compentent in close combat. (I have 30 high swordmasters who would be the greatswords).

  3. I am starting a cities of sigmar list with my old high & wood elves.

I was thinking of including the hurricanum but am really after a high elf / ulthuan theme to it. The horses dragging a clunky set of steam-punk-esqe devices doesn't seem elfish.

I have some spare parts - a couple of lothern sky-cutters, a griffon or two and no shortage of elf mage models (I think I have about 4 on foot).

I have an old webway portal from when they were new to dark eldar in 40k, and one of the 3" range templates that looks kinda chaos warp (from 40k). I am also open to buying models.

    Any ideas?

  4.  Thanks for the advice!

I am not so sure how accepting the community is of conversions and proxies, but I guess I'll find out (I have a lot of gamezone dark elves that I didn;t mention for this reason).

Any reason you would not include the griffon rider as the freeguild general on griffon, and then the swordmasters as freeguild greatswords (or executioners for that matter?)

To me the mortal wounds on 2A models seem to indicate a reasonable damage output, especially in an army that doesn't seem to have much in the way of rend.

Also wondering if reavers / dark riders are useful as screens or scorers?

  5. Thanks for the feedback!

    My collection:

3 x the island of blood box: 30 spire guard, 20 swordmasters, 3x5 reavers (Could I take the reavers as allies?) 1 built griffon, 1 still on sprue

    8 silver helms (converted)

    12 dragon princes

40 pheonix guard, 20 sisters of the watch

10 wood elves with glaives (wildwood rangers) 30 more on sprue, could be eternal guard instead

    3 reaper bolt throwers

    frostheart pheonix

    elf mage on dragon

    tyrion and teclis from 1994

    various characters on foot

    dark elves

    a lot of spearmen (40-50)

    10 cold one knights

    1 cold one chariot

altar of blood, medusa etc (no avatar - used it in a conversion)

    10 harpies

    5 dark riders, 5 warlocks

    more bolt throwers

    dread prince on dark pegasus

  6. The city is the Living City.

Idea of the assassin was that he and the foot anointed would be in among the bloib of Pheonix guard, while using the adjutant ability to generate CPs. Was my thoughts.

The black dragon and K-beast were included as damage dealers, and because I have the models (well, I have a high elf dragon I was going to use as the black dragon).

    Do you have any suggestions?

  7. Hi all, my new year project is to resurrect my whfb army for aos.

Having looked through the cities book, this is my first attempt at a list at 2000 pts.

General: annointed (on foot) - 100.

    Assassin (80) adjutant

Annointed on frost heart pheonix - 320

    Nomad prince - 120

Dread lord on black dragon (300)

    20 pheonix guard (retinue) - 320

    10 pheonix guard (160)

    10 pheonix guard (160)

20 sisters of the watch (320)

    Karibdyss(170)

    Emerald lifeswarm (50)

The two small units are to fill out battleline (I only have 40 pheonix guard)

Idea is that the sisters and nomad prince are in hidden deployment - I assume I can still use the nomad prince's ability on the turn they appear in order to boost the sisters shooting?

The k-beast would also start off the table and attempt to charge with the 3d6 ability it has?

Any suggestions on how to fill out my battle line differently would be welcome - I'd prefer the max unit of pheonix guard.

  8. My collection is something like:

20 pheonix guard (plus 20 more in need of tlc)

    20 sisters of the watch

    8 silver helms

    12 dragon princes

    Various characters on foot.

30 ish witches (but not gw models)

10 cold one knights and several characters on cold ones

    Hydra

    Karibdys

  10. I was wondering whether I can use my old whfb armies to make a viable aos army.

Specifically, an army built around pheonix guard, executioners, sisters of the watch etc (I have high and dark elves in the old language).

I was gifted a GW gift voucher for $100 over Xmas.

If I had to make a single purchase to turn old armies into a viable aos army, what would I buy?

  11. I know GW don't intend to do points for their legends tomes.

I want to play with points, even if they are a bit rough (can't be worse than GW version of balance right?).

Has anyone else done this - made points values for the legends tomes? If not the best guide, I guess, is the original general's handbook. Did anyone encounter any big issues when using this?

*Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere
