I don't think anyone expected tzeentch to dominate, and everyone I know predicted a strong khorne showing. Khorne remains just flatly good as it always was, and one of the armies that just summons the best. Some khorne players bemoaned the end of all things, but the secret is that endless spells have barely made an impact. Only a couple are useful, and the armies that use them only need them for a single turn and are cast with enough bonuses to make dispelling the turn they are cast virtually impossible.

Khorne has done nothing but gain in this edition, and some people bemoaned that they didn't gain quite enough.

As to what your friends told you before NOVA I can't speak too. All I can cite is what people have been talking about on the internet and it seemed to me like Tzeentch, LON, and SCE was what you heard the most about. Tzeetch and LON did extremely well SCE not so much but the vast majority of the top 10 I didn't see anyone talking about.

I dunno, the top battle winners were a lot of Legions of Nagash. NOVA simply included (up front and clearly) hobbying in the overall winning score.

Nobody saw Khorne, Deepkin (especially the list that was used), and Skaven coming. Skaven I believe was literally considered thrash tier. Everyone expected Tzeentch and LON to dominate. LON did do very well but only 1 Tzeentch made top 10 and 3 LON and the rest came virtually out of no where.

  3. We're in a bad spot but that is not to say all hope is lost. The meta is very much in flux (look at NOVA's top 10 and what people predicted to be top 10 very very different lists). Also a guy did manage to get 20th in Generalship at NOVA. We have our brightspots like Endrinriggers, Alchemists, and light skyhooks. So life will be harder with KO then you'd likely experience with SCE but it can be done and ****** do we have more style.

  4. What do you guys think the odds of us getting an updated Battletome in the next 18 months? I know ours came out a year ago and some change but with all the different updates we've seen out battletome is absurdly inaccurate. If it is past 18 months where would we have best chances to see buffs? Generals handbook?

No. From the khemist: A weapon cannot be augmented more than once per hero phase. Also, additional unit means a different unit. So you could for example buff skyhooks in unit 1, and then skyhooks in unit 2 with the first khemist, and then pistols in unit 1 and pistols in unit 2 with the second. Or hooks 1 and pistols 2, pistols 1 and hooks 2, etc. But never the same exact weapon in a unit more than once.

Aw that is disappointing maybe Barak-Nar is way to go haha.

  6. Hey guys can Barak-Urbanz Khemist buff stack on the same unit? So Urbanz lets you use Aetheric Augmentation "an additional time on an additional unit" so say I have 2 Khemist and 3 units of arknaunts labeled unit 1 unit 2 and unit 3. Unit 1 has 3 sky hooks. Aetheric Augmentation on Unit 1 additional Aetheric Augmentation on Unit 1 Khemist 2 Aetheric Augmentation on Unit 1 and Addtional AEtheric Augmentation on Unit 1?

If so 1 unit would get 15 light sky hook shots!

  7. Hey guys so I think I'm going to try to go Barak-Urbanz with an Ironclad. With how I'm building my list it would be really easy for me to do an Iron Sky Command. The question I have is that the bonuses from an Iron Sky seem pretty weak and I know it costs 100 points to do it. Does it make sense to pay the 100 points to guarantee I can do my entire army in a single drop or would be better to forgo the Iron Sky Command and apply those 100 points elsewhere?

    Hey,

Been lurking about a bit, reading many thoughts through this thread and have to agree. KO are in a bad spot.

When I look at the buffs and rerolls and extra wounds and all of the happy horse ****** GW gave armies like Fish boys, and we are worried about what a Khemist does that might unbalance our army, KO need a serious overhaul, a new battletome, some new units and the existing units need to be seriously tweaked to at least be on par with many of the new armies in AoS.

There, that is my first post and while it was a bit of a rant, I can now move on to more constructive conversations.

    Cheers!

    here here

  9. Sorry to keep barraging you with questions on how your list works but I'm starting my first AOS army  and am going KO and am going to mirror your list with a few minor changes to keep that fluff flavor.

But if I understand the general theory right you are basically just dropping 1 Frigate and that your only set up drop until you Last Word the 2nd frigate basically guaranteeing you turn 1? The only question I have is how do you fit 30 arkanaunts into 2 frigates? Can you split the squad 5 into one and 5 into the other?

Thank you again for the help

  10. I've got about 600 points of KO and am expanding out to 2k (might be more like 440 if I don't run my Gunhauler as I'm reading they're not good) but do I have to take 3 units of Arkanaunts? I saw the Iron Sky Squadron says 2 Frigates and 2 Arkanaunts so can I run 2 units of arkanaunts in a 2k army instead of 3?
