as for original poster, yes he whined about the fact his army has not been updated in a while, how is that different from the multitudes that whined for vc updates during 6th-  8th edition, and because they whined, they got them. Squeaky wheel gets the grease after all.

I never said it was different from, anything, I only stated that I dislike the negativity of this and apparently quite some people agreed. I don't know why you are comparing my words with stuff I havent even mentioned.

Concerning the high fantasy point I wont further go into, since High fantasy is basically something you apparantly don't understand compared to low fantasy which was more WHFB related as well as your entire charlemagne story, which also doesn't matter. If you don't want to accept that according to my opinion the army doesn't fit to AOS then there is no point in discussing this.

I do think it's comical to say that Bretonnia isn't high fantasy when a long-running complaint among some WHFB fans back in the day was that they were too high fantasy for the Warhammer world, even after the grimification they received in 6th edition.

    Literally no one said that.

You really think that Bretonnians dont fit high fantasy? They are a fusion of Arthurian legend and the saga of Charlemagne, two of the primary inspiration points of western civilization based high fantasy novels. Even lord of the rings takes quite a bit of inspiration from both of them. Just because it doesn’t match your personal aesthetic, it doesn’t render them less fitting in high fantasy.

Exactly, both your examples are based on history in western civilization medieval direction, which is not like the high fantasy universe that AOS is. Hence the little amount of humans. And u assumend they dont match my personal aesthetic which is wrong, I own Bretonnia models as well, few knights, men at arms, trebuchet, etc.. However, if u wanna be upset about my opinion and make assumptions, go ahead.

they are just the army that needs the most rebalancing to make worth anything for AoS competition.

Not really...they are purposefully left out of AOS cuz GW didn't feel like they'd work or didn't make enough profit, or both.. It's the same for Kislev (yes I had them too), and Chaos Dwarfs, etc etc...

Either way the point of the thread was that someone feels neglected because his army doesn't get an update which I think is lame, especially when it comes to the army that has one of the biggest ranges already.

Buddy, if you spent several thousand dollars on your armies, only to have them rendered OOP, with shite legends crossover rules, and then had to deal with ridiculous ebay inflation prices to continue building said OOP armies, only to be replaced with the sigmarines(which are uninspired, and bland compared to other creations they have come up with)you would be just as bitter and enraged as we were.

I don’t whine about the situation here much, I try to figure out ways of adjusting ****** warscrolls to be more balanced in gameplay, that would allow players of the old editions to convert to aos and reduce their pugilistic attitude. You complaining about their discontent just shows that you lack a sense of empathy for people who lost a lot. If it ever happens to you, I wonder how you will react.

It's frustrating for sure, but it's part of the business either way whether we like it or not and no point in discussing how I would react lol. However, imho, bretonnia for example just does not fit in the high fantasy setting of AOS. Having said that, I was mostly responding to the overal negativity of the forums and not just bretonnia, which was just an example. TS is even in other topics posting useless ****** BUT WHEN IS Stormcast getting update :(: :( :(: (:(:8  which was more my kind of point just because His army doesnt get an update yet

  4. Ehm...broken realms morathi, giants, lumineth, shadow and pain, hedonites slaanesh stuff, more coming for sure...so no i dont think so personally...but they have released and previewed quite a lot even tho its not the stormcast u want.

And gw may have been hit hard in terms of their plans, on the other hand im pretty sure they financially had a great time with all covid hobbyists

This feels a bit like a troll post.

Furthermore as an edit, i am a player and hobbyist who came back after years of break. Theres a few nice aos communities and people, but this supposedly big aos forum has so much negativity..every day the same complainers about GW selling and release strategy, the I want bretonnia back whiners and why does my army not get more my life is so difficult because of this and i want more horses for my army so now i feel neglected mimimimi, and constant other things that come back every thread i wonder if people shouldnt just get a different hobby where u can play 1 model and have no releases and just be happy.

  5. Started the hobby again in November again after 12-15 years break with  DoK start collecting box.

Finished Shadow and Pain dok part, the Sc box, 10* sisters of slaughter and almost finished my shadow stalkers. Today Morathi arrived and converted 10 doomfire warlocks. Been quite productive these two months ans hope I will start playing the game once the corona stuff allows it a bit more.

everything else is either painted or on its way as well. Nothing build as grey plastic 💪

although I should take out the things I’m never going to paint or are just there for bits I guess. Further reduce the stack.

That could be certainly a way: not only add variety via role specialization (so that you can't use trolls for everything, or demis, or whatever), but also via the interaction with the objectives of the game.  I'd prefer a bit of both, to be honest. In any case, I think a lot of us just want good excuses to field diverse armies other than "I am shooting myself on the foot for the visuals".

Honestly you made a point in the opening post that you just want to stand with. Right now you are speaking about totally different stuff...a troll cant do everything..what the hell..every unit or model has a warscroll and thats how the game works, what u are suggesting is more like changing the way the game been build rather than working on the balancin issue causing variety shortage, which is only for competitive play anyway...

If you gonna give spezialization roles you will have the same problem anyway...unit x is the best inthis role so evetyone competitive will unit x

Imo, GW need to be clear what they wants to accomplish. Let me explain:

In any other wargames/skirmish games, we see extra-oficial roles like beaters, schemers, anvils, hammers, redirectors, flank-holders, etc... I think that AoS could go deeper in that too. If we play an objective game, just go all in!

As an example: Behemoth role/Monster keyword could disrupt how many models could capture an objective (they can't focus on the objective because they have a Gargantuan abomination near them). We could even have more interactions: Behemoths that were wounded by Artillery lose that "bonus".

Same with cavalry, troops that "steal" objectives even if they are less models (Mega-gargants and BCR style), troops that protect the objective (apart from that 4++), etc...

Btw, I'm not talking about a "paper-scissor" game because we could still kill the miniatures and move on with our 2+/2+/-3/D3 buffed unit that we slingshot across the table, but it could open another layer of strategic decisions in our lists.

P.D: Btw, My example is just that. I didn't think about how good or bad it is.

Tbh on the white dwarf 458 they have an article that writes what they want to achieve: fun. Its in the explanation thing of 40k rules somewhere at the start. I  think in general they want fun, meaning imho that the competitive side is not the main point but something for those who want to be the best at something.

I do agree that (semi)competitive lists may look similar in terms of little variety, altho i think we should acknowledge the fact that the competitive part is just a small part of the hobby as well. I know Witch Aelves used to be spammed in a DoK list, but I for example am more of a collector and try to have a bit of everything (melisai, khinerai, aelves, morathi, shrine). And if i want to play a game it may not be competitive but atleast i have fun using all of these.

I think that competitive lists are there for a reason and for a totally different mindset and for a game developer near impossible to have variety in each army and be competitive. Its the same online gaming where theres a set meta which will simply be used untill a new patch comes out. The difference is that GW cant give a patch for each army with models and battle tomes every two weeks.

I find this really interesting. It doesn't seem to fit rest of the vampirate rumour engines. Other hand seemed skinny or pale, whereas this seems like a rather healthy, human hand. Don't think it's aelven either, weapon isn't fancy enough. I don't know what to make out of those lines, could be bite marks as someone mentioned, or maybe warpaint or just general scars, albeit weirdly placed. So I'd say either the speculated vampirates have living servants, or it's a CoS model (which I find more possible, though for Underworlds or a future warhammer quest game)

The hag queen of DoK has a similar handle is all i can think of tbh
