  1. Thanks for the ideas guys!

I used your suggestions to form a sort of baseline narrative to my army. So, my faction of Khailebron Aelves is actually really loyal to Morathi. They fulfill the role of secret police and eradicators, dealing with enemies and allies who cross the High Oracle in any way. (Handy way to justify Order vs. Order battles). They operate from a seemingly ruined temple in some marshlands (not sure of the Realm yet). Their appointed mission is to learn of a way to access the Realm of Azyr in a way that does not alert the Stormcast Eternals or Sigmar himself. For this end, the leader of my warband, who is my Medusa (to be named), searches the realms for any arcane knowledge and hidden Realmgates that would allow them passage to Azyr without being noticed. The members of the warband believe that a shard of Khaine might be hidden in Azyr, although the scáthborn don't necessarily care, they simply wish to see their mothers power reach the Realm of Heavens. So, they are willing to fight in the cities of the Free People, maybe even in the Realm of Chaos, just to find if there is a hidden access. This would naturally make them add odds with Stormcast, possibly Wanderers, Daemons, and Skaven as well, as they try to figure out magic that connects the Realms.

  2. Kinda hopping to a different, but somewhat related question: I find it really hard to come up with a nice narrative for my army/characters. The biggest issue to me is this: The whole army culminates in Morathi. She is the head to the entire faction. She has great rules and it's easy to build narratives around her, but the rest of the leaders seem like the supporting cast to me, which is mirrored in their rules. Aside from the Bloodwrack Medusa, the heroes seem like they're more like supporting heroes, instead of being mighty leaders who can take down enemy champions and all that. The Slaughter Queen lacks a punch on her own, Haq Queens are like hemophile bar maids and the Avatar is a statue. The Cauldrons are multiple models in one basically, so they don't feel like "heroes". Additionally, I play Khailebron, but none of the units in the book feel all that "assassiny", if you know what I mean. So that throws an extra curve ball in my plans.

Any tips on building narrative for generic heroes in DoK army? Thus far I've just tried to see if something interesting happens in-game, but thus far it's just been either me dying or killing whatever is stupid to walk close to my fully buffed Bloody Taco Stand of DOOM.

    Hi

Thinking of picking up AOS again after a while off.  Main army Stormcast but with the Christmas boxes really tempted by the Idoneth and DOK boxes.

Really tempted by DOK beucase1) Snake ladies are rlelay cool. 2) I like the Glass cannon melee army with a really nice support hero's (that isn't Khrone) and 3) the models look amazing, and could have some nice conversion options. An example I've used some of the Medusia for my Durkhari.

My main worry though is that the models could be super fragile. The Kinerai look amazing but super fragile. Morthiai is an amazing model but I'm worried about the wings on other her small and big forms.

Also as someone who struggles with painting, I've heard bad thinks about painting DOK, I understand a lot of exposed skin and tiny details. Though the snakes could be very nice to paint. You could go more colourful with the tails and do for real-life snake colours.

So I wanted to ask, is there any advice or tips you can give. to help me justify DOK over Idoneth. I know that DOK is rumoured to be due a nerf in January (correct me if wrong), but I don't care, I'm not great at strategy and my lucks never that good. I play an army because it's fun and looks good.

    My quick two cents:

They are slow to paint, yes, but you can make a few shortcuts by spraying the girls white so you can just dilute some Reikland Fleshshade with Lahmian medium, paint that on skin, then Flayed One Flesh and Pallid Wych Flesh highlights. The harder parts are the bikinis and jewellery, but washes hide some of the imperfections. Stabby snakes are perhaps the easiest to paint.

You definitely need a carry case for these models. Morathi's left small wing is brittle, right one is under hair + makes up her back. The big snake's wings are solid, as the parts are connected to the ribs, back (and each other), as well as to the hips, so there are many glue points. The biggest worry for carrying your Daughters around is actually that Cauldron with the Avatar standing on top. Magnetize the leader+Avatar, maybe even the shrine keepers. I don't own any Khinerai yet, so not sure about their brittleness.

Why do people find the Lifetakers underwhelming?

They don't really excel at anything that the Heartrenders or Witches wouldn't do better. They have poorly amount of attacks, no reliable Rend, it's hard to support them with heroes (and boy do they need help), and more importantly, literally everything fights at least as well as they do. 5 Lifetakers vs. 10 more Witches or 5 Heartrenders is an easy decision, one which the Lifetakers never win. If you play Khailebron, Witches are better in every regard.

  5. Hi guys!

I've had a break with my Daughters army, mainly because I originally designed it to have only three different kinds of units: Witches, Blood Sisters and Blood Stalkers (Temple Nest list).

However, building and painting the same two boxes seemed boring as hell. So I came up with this list for semi-competitive occasions (I don't do tournaments, but my friends also like to run competent lists):

Allegiance: Daughters Of Khaine - Mortal Realm: Ghur
    - Temple: Khailebron

    LEADERS

    Bloodwrack Medusa (140)
    - General
    - Command Trait : Mistress of Illusion
    - Lore of Shadows : Mindrazor

Morathi High Oracle of Khaine (480)
    - Lore of Shadows : Pit of Shades

    Hag Queen (60)
    - Artefact : Iron Circlet
    - Prayer : Sacrament of Blood

    UNITS
    20 x Blood Sisters (480)

    30 x Witch Aelves (270)
    -Pairs of Sacrificial Knives

    10 x Sisters Of Slaughter (120)
    -Barbed Whips and Blade Bucklers

    5 x Khinerai Heartrenders (80)

    10 x Doomfire Warlocks (320)
    - Lore of Shadows : The Withering

    TOTAL: 1950/2000

    EXTRA COMMAND POINTS: 1

    WOUNDS: 122

    LEADERS: 3/6

    BATTLELINES: 3

    ARTEFACTS: 1/1

Alteration to this list would be to swap Morathi for a Cauldron and 10 more Sisters of Slaughter. Maybe drop 5 warlocks for more Heartrenders and the Slaughter Troupe Battalion for that extra CP and artefact, but that's not gonna be my main goal, as it feels a bit too competitive.  My main question is: would this list be totally curb stomped by most lists of other factions?  Especially Stormcast and Nighthaunt are my main concern (and most common enemies).

    On an unrelated note:

What would you guys say is Khaine's alignment? Neutral? Chaotic Neutral? Lawful Evil?

Trying to work it out for when I start building them when I get the inevitable "What's the difference between him and Khorne?"

Khaine would be Lawful Evil (at least he was when he was still alive). Khorne would be Chaotic Evil. The difference between them is that Khaine is highly organized and he has some tenets that his followers must follow (like no killing helpless people, at least to some extent). Khorne doesn't care who dies, as long as the blood flows. Also, Khaine is less interested in the exact way someone dies, whereas Khorne only cares about the brutal hand- to-hand combat.

  7. I've been thinking of a 2k Khailebron army with as strong snake girl basis. What do you think of this?
