The artefact on the fishes? I guess there’s nothing to say you can’t do that, but still feels wrong to me.

You should at least add a little crab waving a big sword to the base!

Yep i think there's nothing  preventing  this , probably when they'll remake the ID tome stormshoal will be considered a mount so you won't be able to give them an item.

  2. Played both Sea and Storm extensively and i agree that Sea is a bit better.

Currently i'm using hin in a Ionarch list with , sword of judgement , gemini, aethervoid and abissal darkenss he hangs back dishing out good damage trough spells and ranged attacks while denying a huge chunk of board to monsters and heroes. I've never been disappointed by him. I think ionarch si close to must if you want to use him at 100%

On the other hand the storm, i really like him too but i think he is less consistent because to do work he must put himself in danger.

    My Setup for them are:

Storm: General( Unstoppable Fury) and etheral amulet (fhuetan)

Sea: Sword of judgement (on the stormshoal), Abyssal darkness, Gemini and Aethervoid (ionarch)

  3. I don't think that reavers are that bad the most annoying thing about them is that they are not Battleline without an isharann general.

Batallion are indeed bad, and DoK's too, but then they released nighthaunt that basically have all batallion playable, with a relative low cost (batallion const is pretty high but the units costs inside them is like 50% of ours).

I'm playing a lot against nighthaunt, and they can be really dangerous, they have tons o way to manipulate and use our very low bravery plus they play with a ton of command points and at least 3 artefact per list.

All of the battalions are no gos from what I can tell. The more data I find, the more certain that we are KO, and will be an after thought as soon as the next book comes out. Which is ironic considering the IDK were probably the last nail in the coffin for semi-serious KO.

Competitively some regions will be lucky to have a "IDK guy" but I doubt the faction has much staying power. I should have been more concerned when the whole army only had one command ability but I was over optimistic. There just isn't enough in those pages to make IDK a strong faction, and the points costs are extremely conservative. I could forgive the Apolex, if the Levidon, and Eidolons were actually decent units competitively. But, as soon as I drop all pretence of taking either my lists and results got significantly better.

I agree in most of the statement, our batallions are really really bad royal court is incredibly anti-sinergic with the soulscrier, namarti corps are just too many points threw in thralls and akelian corps has leviadon and allopex that cost a bit too much.

I don't understand why there isn't a batallion with eidolons that are the most visually attractive models of the faction.

On the eidolons underperforming, i play AoStorm frequently and i find him really strong, with the right set-up, in a lot of things.
AoSea on the other side is really underwhelming 440 points are not justified by his spell list or combat capabilities

  5. I think thralls are decent but hard to play, they are objective holders that can do good damage the only problem they got is that they can engage mostly under high tide, because they die too easily so they absolutly have to strike first.

Last game i played 3x10 Thrall ,one unit used as objective holder, other 2 flanking with soulscrier.
    They were really usefull.

Eels are probably better in most situation, but for objective capture the only thing that counts are bodies so 10 "cheap" models, that in the right situation can do some decent damage, are welcome.

As someone looking at Deepkin still as possibly my next army I am toying with a few lists. I wanted to see what people thought of generals though. From what I can see there only seem to be two worth while options.

    1) Volturnos, he essentially says to your opponent beat me before turn 3 otherwise I pump 3 to 4 CP multiple times into 3 units and stack crazy attacks all striking first and win.

    2) Tidecaster for reversing tides dream scenario you get bottom of turn 1 then top of 2 high tide and win due to mass early pressure. Particularly with Fuethan for Flood tide into High tide into Flood tide.

Normal king just seems to be outclassed by Volturnos by many degrees that the 40 point saving just doesn't seem worth it. Then other heroes have zero command abilities where as the two listed above both completely change the way you play and how your opponent has to tackle you. I had thought of maybe an Eidolon with the +2 wounds trait plus 6+ shrug item to make them super tanky but I don't perceive the same value.

Still be good to hear from people who do use other generals before I lock into a list to buy as want to consider all options.

Volturnos is really really good, i won't stack the command ablity multiple times because probably it's something that will be Faqed.

    King is perfectly viable , and it's not outclassed by volturnos beacuse he can have artifact and traits and some are awesome;
    1) +1+1 hit and wound (something that make me wanna try the greatsword)+unstoppable fury for a ton of damage
    2) Amulet that make you ethereal so you can always use the falchion and have an unmodified save 3+, this could be really annoying combined with born from agony trait and being within 6" of a shipwreck
    3) The lens

I'd gladly make my eidolon a general but then i must take at least 3 units of thrall and i don't think they are particularly good.

Tidecaster is a bit better in that sense because i think that reavers are much better than thralls and reversing tides is Really strong in fuethan.
