So how would you take the edge of FEC but still keep them as a strong army capable of winning tournaments?
Nothing, they will bring future lists more in line with them. The power disparaty will be a temporary thing as GW calibrate the game to level they want it at. They're still finding a comfort level as comparatively the game is very new.

Only masochists would go bare-foot on lava. Very Slaanesh!

Please note that Ben Savva took first placement with 30 SoS and 30 Witches. 10 Additional Witches and 2x5 Heartrenders for screening and Obj. Grabbing purposes.
I believe it was 30 Sisters with bucklers, 30 Witches with knives, 10 Sisters with knives. Which seems against a lot of the mathematical advice I see, however it's a load out that I think is very effectively in a battlefield situation.

I could drop the Spawn and have Cogs AND Shackles.
I was looking at Spawn earlier, for 50 points and with 5 wounds these offer the most Depravity Points per point in the entire list. With Chaos Chariots a close second. Are Chaos Spawn worth fielding in large numbers with this in mind?

I would say no, as named characters aren't eligible to select Command Traits.
That was what I felt, thanks for confirmation.

Sorry if this has been asked before, especially as I'm pretty sure of the answer, but I ought to check.
The battle trait for Pretenders reads:
"Pretenders: The general of a Pretenders host has two different command traits rather than only one. If you randomly generate the traits, roll again if the second result is the same as the first. In addition, you can re-roll hit rolls of 1 for melee and missile weapons used by friendly Pretenders units that have ten or more models when they are selected to shoot or fight"
With Archaon (or indeed any character General), would they be able to select a command trait on top of their pre-assigned one? I am assuming no, but thought I'd ask to clarify this.

I was chatting about this with a friend earlier and wondered if it had been discussed before: Archaon with 2 Lords on Juggernauts.
Two uses of Archaon's Command Ability would mean they could buff him so his sword could auto-kill on 2 2+s. They could also work well with Chaos Chosen and their mortal wounds as well as a Juggernaut Lord with the Gorecleaver artifact blade.

I was thinking, If they don't change Archaon's wording to force him to be the general, you could see Archaon being led by a Harbinger of decay or something just so that you get an extra command trait...
We have confirmation about this now in the FAQs released yesterday, and sadly, Archaon must be the general to use his Command Ability now

RAW if it hasn't charged (see P3 of errata for this adition), attacked, cast or unbound a spell, or if it is not within 3" of an enemy Hero then Arch-deceiver should still be in effect. Using the Battalion ability that doesn't do any of those listed actions shouldn't remove that (I believe).
However... if you switch him for a unit already in melee then he HAS to attack (see P230 of Main Rulebook, "you cannot pass if there is an eligible unit from your army that can fight) and therefore break Arch-deceiver.
You could suppose conga-line the unit so some of the members remain outside of 3" from your opponent and you could swap him for one of them, meaning he would not be eligible to attack.
This is my take, happy to hear if it's wrong.
