  1. I thought I'd share a few photos of my Slaaneshi collection thus far. I can't claim to be a naturally talented painter, but over twenty years of doing it, plus a lot of passion, has resulted in this. They bring me pleasure... and that's what Slaanesh is all about! Here's some of my favourite models...
  2. Hi, Long time lurker but first time poster in the forum, Wanted to show of my new cities of sigmar project im starting, Everything thing here is still very WIP but the aim is to have a cities army more akin to a old world or medieval army with lots of different heraldry throughout. My first unit of steelhelms I have gone with the idea of doing all entirely different heraldry although there will be some repeats in later forces representing lords sending multiple troops and not just one. I will try to flesh out some custom lore for each house as i go but everything as with the models them selves are unfinished. We have three examples of where am at with these guys bellow with a white and blue, red and blue and unusually brown scheme for these guys with all freehanded symbols. Still details that need fixing or finishing ( clearly the weapons ) for each but really happy with how they are looking You can see the rest of the unti as they stand bellow with all their symbols and cloths set out One that i do want to highlight is the banner which is not the symbol of any lord or noble but the symbol of their crusade force. The yellow royal eagle showing the crusade has royal consent to operate , the green and white swords representing it as a crusade rather then another thing given royal approval and the white showing the church. These should apear often on anyone/thing that is crusade specific like unit banners rather then something from the houses. Lastly I have been working on the weapons and think i have something to repeat for the rest of the squad Hope you like the posts as i want to keep this project going. I likely wont post again until this squad is done ( including basing which i am very up in the air on ) but will also be looking to enter a few cities into golden demon next year with an aim to beat my record this year which was one finalist pin by taking home two. Unsure what units /models i will aim for that idea though.
  3. Hi guys, I open another project up. Since I have soul wars I have some nighthaunt models (actually nothing build yet because of other stuff, but will prepare this thread that I can use it for them as well) but I also started Flesh Eater Courts with the Carrion Empire Box set and bought some stuff there too. In fact, at least I started building the flesh Eater Courts models. My actual models (when build) should look like this. Abhorrant Ghoul King on Royal Zombie Dragon Abhorrant Archregent Crypt Haunter Courtier Crypt Ghast Courtier Varghulf Courtier 20 x Crypt Ghouls 20 x Crypt Ghouls 20 x Crypt Ghouls 6 x Crypt Horrors 6 x Crypt Horrors Chalice of Ushoran Corpsemare Stampede Cadaverous Barricade perhaps I will buy 1-2 more start collecting boxes as well for a Abhorrant Ghoul King on Royal Terrorgheist and some Crypt Flayers The only special model I can show is my Varghulf. Those of you, who know my Twitter Account, will already know him. I used mostly the parts of the plastic Daemon Prince.
  4. Hello folks and welcome to the Painting Contract for August 2021! If you don't know the rules they are: Each month you post an amount of models that you agree to try to paint/build/convert/sculpt. This can be terrain or models for Age Of Sigmar, Warcry, Blood Bowl, Blitz Bowl, Warhammer Underworlds, Warhammer Quest, Gorechosen, or HeroQuest On the 28th of the month the contract closes and you can then post your progress images so that they can be critiqued, shared and boasted about. It is a great way to get involved in the community and to get inspiration. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone share their progress! Enjoy! @Mohojoe & @TheOtherJosh & special thanks to @Kramer
  5. I haven't done much hobby for a while now but the new(ish) sculpts for the Soulblight Gravelords have stoked my bloodpaintlust and encouraged me to brush the cobwebs from my hobby cupboard and give them a go. I've decided to document my progress with my new army project, so here's the first entry of what I hope will be a regularly updated painting and gaming log. As with any of my army projects, I've started with the model that's provided the muse for the whole undertaking; in this case Radukar the Beast. I love the pose and composition of this model so much; he looks so feral and menacing. It was an absolute joy to put together and paint. I wanted to keep the colours quite dark and desuturated for this army, with mainly browns, greys and slate blues contrasted with pale skin and blood effects. For the skin I followed something very close to the suggested recipe in the army book - Rakarth Flesh, a wash of Guilliman Flesh contrast paint and Lahmian Medium, and then layered up with several thinned glazes of Rakarth Flesh and Pallid Wych Flesh. I shaded the feet down with glazes of Snakebite Leather, Mechanicum Grey and Wildwood contrast paints. I've found contrast paints thinned with Lahmian medium (rather than contrast medium) to make excellent glazes for tinting flesh tones and creating decent blends quite quickly. The metal is Leadbelcher for the steel, and Liberator Gold for the gold parts with more contrast paints glazes (mainly Mechanicum Grey, Black Templar and Snakebite Leather). The wolf pelt was Grey Seer, with Apothecary White, and Mechanicum Grey glazes, Nuln oil on the darker parts, and then highlighted up with Dawnstone and Celestra Grey. The blue cloth was Dark Reaper, Nuln Oil, and highlights with Dark Reaper mixed with Thunderhawk Blue, and finally an all-over glaze of Terradon Turquoise for a bit more saturation. I followed a similar recipe for the blue gauntlets, but mixed a bit of Waaagh Flesh into the Dark Reaper and left off the final glaze to give a green-grey tone. The facial markings and scars are Screamer Pink washed with Barak Nar Burgundy and lots of Lahmian Medium, and the streak markings on the forehead where highlighted with Mephiston Red. Any comments and critiques are welcome - I'm always open to suggestions to improve my painting, so please let me know what you think.
  6. I noticed we had a place to discuss Seraphon, but really no place to share with each other our current or finished projects. Id like this thread to be a place for us all to share that, whether it be models that we are or have painted or even homebrew we are writing. Please be kind it takes a lot to share, especially if it's something someone has written, this is a helpful thread where we as a Seraphon community can encourage one another. So please, without worry of judgement, share wuat you're working on, have finished or even are planning all things Seraphon!
  7. Hi Guys! I decided that instead of spamming the forum with new Threads for each video I make, it's better to have them all in one big thread. Hope you like them! 1. How to Paint - Intense Green 2. How to Paint - Saturated Red 3. Intense Blue
  8. Hullo folks. I am hopefully on the path to rounding up my slipshod Nurgle Army before I move onto the new Sky Dwarves, so I fancied collecting the various photos I'd taken into one place (everyone else has a plog!) as well as ask for some advice on where to go next. I only got back into the hobby at the start of 2017, after a 10 year leave of absence (although I didn't particularly paint much before) and so painting is pretty new to me. There are a lot of places to go for great advice, including GWs own videos. But I want my dwarves to look top notch, and I think that means levelling up my technique a little. So I want to know what the best advice you have is. I find that I have the most trouble with gradual blends or colour fades the most. I have recently invested in some Lahmian Medium, and also 2 Windsor and Newton 7 Series brushes for details (they really are excellent), and for my Dwarves I have kind of planned my palette and basing style in my head. So yeah, Criticism and Feedback on stuff would be very appreciated, as well as links to videos or blogs on technique and style. I think due to work and uni I have been a little impatient in some instances so I know that has led to some errors, but specific advice would be welcome (unless it links to that Next Level Painting guy. as good as his stuff can be his voice and demeanour just ruins me. On to the photos! This is the whole bunch, so far, shelved. I don't have close ups of the drones yet: My initial 3 heroes. Order of Completion was Lord of Plagues, Herald of Nurgle, Lord of Chaos My Blightkings, which I am proudest of, by far., but I am not too happy with some of the bruising. Chaos Sorcerer which was done recently as a reward for shifting a metric tonne of essays out of my way (this one appears to have been hit by some bad compression?) As per the other thread, this is my WIP Epidemus. I didn't actually buy this myself, it was a gift from some friends so It has taken a lot of psyching up to paint because the detail is intimidating and granular, which I find quite different from the regular GW plastic cast heavy contrast detail. (Apologies for messy thumbnail) I'll try and sort a lightbox or at least a proper white background for the things I haven't got proper pictures of: Warriors, Plaguebearers and Plague Drones. I think I have at least, with Nurgle, managed to attack a variety of different textures and techniques, some better than others, but would still be curious for advice! Thanks!
  9. I’ve recently started a Hedonites of Slaanesh army, and now that I’ve painted the first few models I’ve decided to start an army blog. I’ll update this post regularly with more model pics as I go, and eventually I hope to add some army lists and battle reports once I start using them on the table. Some of you may have seen some of these already on a thread I started looking for colour scheme advice, and thanks to anyone who gave feedback on that thread. I think I’m going to stick with this scheme now. I have a long commute and to pass the time this morning I decided to come up with a full back-story for my force (or more accurately, expand on the pre-existing fluff for N’Kari from the old WHFB source materials). The full version is below, but the tldr version is this: They are a Pretenders force hailing from the Realm of Shadow, and follow N’Kari - an ancient keeper of secrets with beef against the Aelven gods Malerion, Tyrion and Teclis which goes back to the forgotten days of the World that Was. Now that Slaanesh is missing she has hatched a dastardly plan to enact her revenge on the Aelven gods and ascend to full chaos godhood. (Full story below for those with time to kill). Here are the model pics of the army so far: Full Back-story: In the World that Was, N’Kari was amongst the greatest of Slaanesh’s greater daemons. During the first Great Chaos Incursion, when the polar warp gates of the Old Ones collapsed in a catastrophe which threatened to engulf the whole world in madness, it was N’Kari who led the Slaaneshi daemons in the invasion of the Elven realm of Ulthuan. Ulthuan was on the verge of complete collapse, but in the final battle for the Blighted Isle at the centre of Ulthuan’s central sea, N’Kari was defeated by Aenarion the Defender, the first and greatest Phoenix King of the Elves. Her essence was banished back to the realm of Chaos, where it would slowly coalesce once more. So great was the power of Aenarion’s blade, the legendary Sword of Khaine, that it took many thousands of years for N’Kari to slowly regain consciousness and begin to gather her power once more. Over that time N’Kari suffered in humiliation and impotence, and her thirst for revenge against the Elves, and especially the descendants of Aenarion, grew into an all-consuming obsession. N’Kari finally got her chance when Malekith, son of Aenarion, the immortal Witch King of Naggaroth and ruler of the Dark Elves, performed a great ritual to summon a greater daemon of Slaanesh, in a bid to use its power to enact his own revenge upon the High Elves of Ulthuan, who had refused to acknowledge Malekith as the rightful heir to the realm after Aenarion’s death thousands of years before. After the first Great Chaos Incursion, the Elves had created a magical vortex at the centre of Ulthuan to draw the chaotic winds of magic which flooded from the collapsed polar warp gates towards the Blighted Isle, and drain it from the world. Malekith intended to bind a greater daemon to his will and use its innate connection with the winds of Chaotic magic to allow his armies to move undetected and instantaneously between the great Menhirs scattered throughout the land which channeled the magic towards the vortex. His plan was successful at first, and the Dark Elves came the closest they ever had to victory over their hated High Elf cousins. However, Malekith has underestimated N’Kari’s strength, and she was eventually able to overcome his spells of binding and operate independently. Malekith’s forces were stranded in a foreign land where they were hunted down and defeated piecemeal. N’Kari took this opportunity to finally enact her revenge on the Elves. N’Kari’s single-minded obsession empowered Slaanesh greatly, and he rewarded her with some small degree of the favour she had enjoyed in the early days of the World that Was. Slaanesh granted N’Kari the ability to sense and seek out the souls of descendants of the line of Aenarion, so that she could slake her lust for revenge and empower him further through her feelings of elation and bloodlust. N’Kari stealthily moved throughout Ulthuan, hunting these unfortunate elves one by one and murdering them in the most humiliating and painful ways imaginable. N’Kari almost succeeded in her revenge, but Slaanesh, ever capricious, secretly granted just enough of his own power to the last two surviving scions of Aenarion on Ulthuan, the young twins Tyrion and Teclis, for them to defeat her and banish her back to the realm of Chaos. Slaanesh revelled in N’Kari’s feelings of frustration and rejoiced. Years later, during the climactic events of the End Times which resulted in the destruction of the World that Was, N’Kari was granted another chance to complete her quest. She led the daemonic invasion of Ulthuan once more, only to be defeated yet again by Teclis’s sorcery. Despite N’Kari’s failure, the forces of Chaos were ultimately triumphant; the World that Was was utterly destroyed, and in its wake the Mortal Realms were created. N’Kari again spent long aeons regathering her strength in the Realm of Chaos. During the Age of Chaos, when she was finally strong enough to make her presence felt in the Mortal Realms, she led Slaanesh’s daemonic forces in an orgy of blood and conquest throughout the realms. Still the sworn nemesis of all Aelvenkind, N’Kari was dismayed to discover that the Aelves of the Mortal Realms were painfully rare during this era, as Slaanesh had consumed almost all the Aelven souls in existence during the destruction of the World that Was. Despite this, the last three descendants of Aenarion: the Witch King Malekith, and the twins Tyrion and Teclis, had not only survived the End Times, but had been reborn as deities and manifestations of Shadow and Light. Malekith was reborn as Malerion, the god of the Realm of Ulgu, and Tyrion and Teclis had become the twin deities of the Realm of Hysh. N’Kari burned with a desire to exact revenge against the one who had imprisoned her, and those who had defeated her twice before, but she lacked the strength and power to assault such godly beings directly, and Slaanesh delighted in frustrating N’Kari further by sending her on missions of conquest in the realms furthest from these gods’ spheres of influence. Whenever Slaanesh’s attention was turned elsewhere, however, N’Kari took every opportunity to observe Malerion, Tyrion, and Teclis, and attempt to find a weakness in their godly protection which could perhaps be exploited. It was during this period of close clandestine surveillance that N’Kari discovered the gods’ plan to trap Slaanesh in a sorcerous prison, and to draw the Aelven souls he had consumed during the destruction of the World that Was out of him, to recreate their lost race. N’Kari could have gained great favour had she decided to warn Slaanesh of the gods’ plan, but aeons of mistreatment and torment by her master had led to a deep resentment, and N’Kari hatched a more elegant plan which would finally allow her to exact her revenge, and increase her power and influence to godly levels. N’Kari kept the Aelven gods’ secret, Slaanesh was imprisoned in a hidden realm and the Aelven race was slowly reintroduced in force to the Mortal Realms. In Slaanesh’s absence, N’Kari was free to pursue her own agenda, and she gathered towards her a host of devoted followers. Those who followed her proclaimed her ‘Ur-Slaanesh’, the reincarnation of their lost god. N’Kari brought her followers to the Realm of Ulgu, where Malerion and the demi-goddess Morathi had begun to repopulate the realm with Aelvenkind. Whilst Tyrion and Teclis were making similar efforts in the Realm of Hysh, N’Kari still feared the twin gods more than any other beings, except perhaps Slaanesh himself. She decided to begin her plot in the Shadowlands of Ulgu, where the nature of the realm would allow her to operate with some degree of secrecy while she gathered strength. Since Slaanesh’s disappearance, N’Kari has conducted a guerrilla-war against the Aelves of Ulgu, right under the noses of Malerion and Morathi. With each Aelven soul she consumes, she becomes more and more powerful, and closer to her ambition of challenging and defeating hated Malerion. She believes that if she can defeat him and absorb his god-essence, she can gain the full power of the Realm of Shadow, and use this to challenge the twin gods of the Realm of Light. If she can realise her ambition, not only will her revenge against the line of Aenarion finally be slaked, but she will also ascend to full godhood and replace Slaanesh as the Chaos god of excess and depravity.
  10. Hey all, I've been warming up to the Lumineth since their release last year and this upcoming second wave might end up pushing me over the edge into maybe getting into them fully. So my idea for the colour scheme was to do a black marble effect with maybe a semi-gloss for the armour panels with a light/liberator gold edges and details and purple and/or red for the robe and cloth bits. the part i'm stuck on is how i would actually go about doing the black marble armour, i have a few ideas but i thought i would put it you guys to maybe get some ideas. Thoughts?
  11. Hello, 2021 brings with it a new year - and sadly one in this covid hellworld we are living in - so let's get a bit of positivity going. A new year means resolutions - and that means not only can we all swear (and fail) to get back exercising to work off our christmas dinner - but also hobby resolutions. To those willing to take up the offer, I present an offer - hobby resolutions for new armies. What army are you looking forward to forging in the next year? What projects have you put off for too long that will give you joy that you want to start? Now is the chance. Comment your goal - your ideas, stories, models, factions - and let us all revel in delight. I myself am taking a trip to the dark side and taking on a pledge that - by this time next year - I will have at least 1000 points of painted models for each of the factions within the Grand Alliance Chaos. Good luck - and happy hobbying.
  12. I am about to start painting my beastclaw and was thinking of trying to "brand" the boulder head mark on my stonehorns and thundertusks and was wondering if anyone had any pointers.
  13. Hi, this will be a big one (actually like most of my projects). Here I have a project that combines most of the aelf factions. Some of this stuff was actually in blogs before. Here are the actual armylists, structures as the Aelfengroups and subgroups Frostaelfs Fyreaelfs Shadowaelfs Not definied aelfen groups Next will be the stuff I already posted in blogs. Fanmade Battletomes latest release: Brotherhood of Korhil current Version
  14. I've been working on my Stormcast host on and off now for nearly a year, with the majority of what I'd call "bulk" units completed or in the final stages of painting (5 more vanguard hunters are finished but not pictured, I have 15 protectors and 5 decimators along with two Concussor conversions to paint) which frees me up to do the most enjoyable part of the army. Characterful Conversions! I've just about finished the modelling on my Lord Commander for the host (Unique model, first of the host, general) who is in dire need of a name so suggestions are more than welcome. But most of all I'd love suggestions of characters, artillery pieces or monsters that people would like to see converted up that fit the theme of stormcast so that I can add them to the host! C&C Welcome as always!
  15. Painted this model a while ago but I was never happy with it. I’m repaint her and think that a different skin tone might do the ticket. What do you all think? Should I do a full makeover? What skin tone should I use?
  16. Hey all, the preview over weekend has motivated me somewhat to try and revisit my Daughters of Khaine that i got when they initially were released. Similar to when i originally got them i'm having some trouble deciding on a paint scheme, mostly for skin for the overall army and the scales for the melusai. My options so far are doing a standard pale skin tone with contrast since i never seem have to any luck painting pale skin the non-contrast way. A light blue skin tone, possibly done with space wolves grey contrast. Last option was maybe a light purple of some kind. At the moment i think i'm leaning towards the blue skin, might give the army a nice icey theme. any thoughts or ideas? An example of what the blue skin could look like.
  17. Hey everyone, So a while ago I set up a blog on here to log my progress with my Beastclaw Raiders. With that army largely finished I've been on and off with some warcry and some 40k but with the sweet new Sons of Behemat model previews I've decided to jump back on the destruction train for starters, here are some pictures of my Aleguzzler gargant with a giants causeway themed base. I need to do a few highlights on the banners and shields, maybe I'll try some freehand. I've also got some more Mawtribes, Warclans, Rippa's Snarlfangs and even some Fimir on the way. Let me know what you think!
  18. Hello everybody, I started a new project last month and I thought this could be a good reason for starting a new topic. 😊 So here are the first steps of my slowly growing skaven horde. I Hope you like them: First my Clawlord and then my version of the screaming bell.
  19. Hi there everyone! I've been wargaming since I was a kid in the early 90's. Mostly Warhammer (currently AoS), 40k & Necromunda. Returned to the hobby after a long hiatus a few years ago, and started a blog last year. I really like to see what other people are up with their hobby projects, and would also like to share some of my stuff here. So sharing of inspiration is a big thing for me. Here's a few pics from the most recent projects from this year.

  21. Hello everybody, due to recent events and terrible death of George Floyd, I decided to dedicate a model to the Black Lives Matter campaign. I chose a banner bearer from my skeletons to dedicate, because that's the only army I have, and I painted his banner with the Black Lives Matter symbol on it. Now the problem is that I am terrible at freehanding, but there are people out there who are absolute masters at it, and should probably copyright the while concept since they basically own it. So I invite all of you to participate in this fun challenge, and pick a banner bearer from your army, and dedicate it to Black Lives Matter. You won't win anything, it's just for fun. So here is the rest of my model. There I did BLM on his shield, that stands for Black Lives Matter as I am sure you all know. Here is the whole model, which isn't done, but the freehanding is. I also tried to make their bone colour more like a black person's skin tone, compared to my other skellies, I know it's not technically correct, but it's just for fun really. Go on, have a go, we all have a banner bearer somewhere, support the people, and paint a beautiful mini. I can't wait to see yours! I would like to say that I would like there to be only a little political discussion if any, as I know that the hobby is for many people an escape from real life. Anyway, just try painting the banner, you can't do much worse than me, and you might as well have a go.
  22. Hello folks and welcome to the Painting Contract for May 2020! If you don't know the rules they are: Each month you post an amount of models that you agree to try to paint/build/convert/sculpt. This can be terrain or models for Age Of Sigmar, Warcry, Blood Bowl, Blitz Bowl, Warhammer Underworlds, Warhammer Quest Silver Tower / Shadows Over Hammerhal, or Gorechosen. On the 28th of the month the contract closes and you can then post your progress images so that they can be critiqued, shared and boasted about. It is a great way to get involved in the community and to get inspiration. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone share their progress! Enjoy! 23. After the warm reception I got for my Deepkin Army I posted a few days ago, I figured I'd make a project log where I can post all the stuff I paint along with the tutorials and stuff that I make for fun. Currently I'm working on 2 big projects. The first is Kairos Fateweaver. He's a real beast and so far I've finished up his staff and started work on his tabard. You can find the tutorial for his staff here (it's a number of images with the exact paints I used as well as a description of the techniques) and I'll be posting more of these as I go! The second project is an enormous diorama I've wanted to do for years and finally have the chance to crank out. I won't spoil anything but... So for this particular project I needed to paint a lot of zombies and I'd like to paint them super quickly so I used the Grimdark style popularized by Zatcaskagoon to churn out 40 shambly bois in about 6 hours (2 for the zombos and 4 for the bases). The tutorial for those models can be found here! And I truly don't mean to shill my other social media accounts for painting so I'm just gonna mention them here once (unless that's against the rules) and only link to them for the tutorials since that's where I initially post the photo albums. My facebook account where you can see a TON more pictures, tutorials, WIP shots, etc, etc is "Miniatures by Carl", and my IG is @carlpaintswarhammer. I'll be updating this log pretty frequently in the next few days and welcome advice, comments, and thoughts about what to do next! j0Pc7nU - Imgur_Trim.mp4
