In the 62nd year of Qu’aph the Cunning, the blessed goddess of love and grace learned what it meant to hate. The shadow swept across the sands more quietly than the wind. No dune disturbed, no water broke. Only the gardens stirred as birds of every feather took wing to sing in the sudden dusk. A shroud enveloped Bubasthis, through which even Ptra could not see, and where it fell, Basth’s children screamed, and their chosen servants dropped stone-dead. Greetings, Nehekharans. I’m creating this log to track my hobby progress for my Basth-themed Tomb Kings army. It will be a small force from a temple dedicated to Nehekhara’s cat goddess, worshipped for her grace, love and protection, all things that would be lost with the coming of the Usurper, Nagash. They are based for WHFB/The Old World, and will use base converters for games of AoS. Here’s my first regiment of skellies converted from Deathrattle and TK skeletons. Thanks for following and I hope you like.

My name's Tristan and after many years away from the hobby I've picked table top wargaming back up in a big way. My local scene is small and new. Our local gaming store dropped GW about a decade ago and only in the past 5 months started stocking and a dedicated group started building up the community again. After getting back into 40k, some of my newfound pals talked me into giving Sigmar a try. Billing it as a quick game to get into, I gave it a shot and was hooked. Realizing that I could finally play with the Tomb Kings that I've always wanted was a big draw too. Then the other shoe dropped. "Oh they cancelled the entire line" "...****** it, who needs a savings account anyway?" I'm going to use this space as a way to document my progress, make some fun backstory in the Endless Deserts for Tomb King Ahomtep and his city, and hopefully have some fun back and forth with y'all about it. ------ The Spear of Kahtep The Necropolis of King Ahomtep is one of wonder and no fixed point. Placed upon the floating desert spire known and the Spear Kahtep, its largess and glimmering towers are known to slacken the jaw of even the most hardened Duardin. It's Pyramids, obelisks and streets woven into the great rock's surface, busy with activity. It is known to mostly drift between the edges of the Sour Sea and the Carrion Isles, but it has been spotted near the bastion of Bétone. The great spire blotting out the sun as it passes. Only the liche priests of The Spear truly understand how it traverses the deserts wind. When the unyielding suns of the Endless Deserts are darkened by the shadow of The Spear, all know it is their demise made shade.

Introduction When I began writing the Noobronomicon: A Beginner's Guide to Death, I was overwhelmed by the amount of support the project received. However, since the release of AoS 3, it has become increasingly difficult to bring the information in the original guide up to date. I simply couldn't let this project die, so I thought the best way would be to scrap it all and start a fresh. So here we are, with the Noobronomicon Volume 2. I intend to write this updated guide with the same level of love and care as I did the previous. If you are not familiar with this previous guide, I will quickly go over what it’s for and why I write these. This guide will cover beginner to intermediate play. We won’t be covering tournament play or min/maxing out lists. We will cover the basics of the Death Grand Alliance, the alliances within, and the sub-factions within that. Hopefully, within this guide, you will find everything you need to know in order to start your journey into playing a Death alliance in AoS. Hopefully, this will help newer players, as well as existing players looking to try out a Death army, find an army that fits you best. Glossary and abbreviations: Soulbight Gravelords - SG or SbGl - A variety of different undead creatures. Flesh Eater Courts - FEC - Cannibals and ghouls Ossiarch Bonereapers - OBR or OB - Bone constructs Nighthaunt - NH - Ghosts Soulblight - Vampires Deathrattle- Skeletons Deadwalkers - Zombies Grand Alliance - GA Note: This guide will be updated as I finish each section. And a complete guide will be added in as a google doc soon for those you find this to be an inadequate format to read in. Feedback is always appreciated.

Khorngors Khorngors are those of the gor-kin who worship Khorne in all his ruthless glory, basking in the blood fueled power that this bestows upon those. Even though regular Beasts of Chaos look down upon those of their number that dedicate themselves to one Chaos God, Khorngors care not for their kin's opinions for they know they have the strength and ruthlessness to butcher any of their weaker kin. Khorngors pride themselves in the barbaric discipline they hold themselves up to, regularly cleaning and sharpening their weapons and armor to a suitably gruesome appearance, that way their weapons have the best possible chance of felling their foes in one swift strike. Move Save Bravery Wounds 6” 4+ 6 2 Melee Weapons Weapon Range Attacks To Hit To Wound Rend Damage Bloodaxe(s) 1” 4 4+ 4+ -1 1 Skullcleaver 2” 2 3+ 3+ -2 1 Missile Weapons Weapon Range Attacks To Hit To Wound Rend Damage Gorecleavers 8” 3 4+ 4+ -1 1 Description A unit of Khorngors has any number of models. The unit is armed with one of the following weapon options: a pair of Bloodaxes and Gorecleavers; or Bloodaxe, Butcher-shield, and Gorecleavers. 1 in every 10 models can replace the unit’s weapon option with a Skullcleaver. Bloodseeker 1 model in this unit can be a Bloodseeker. Add 1 to the Attacks characteristic of that model’s Bloodaxe(s). Icon Bearer 1 in every 10 models can be an Icon Bearer. Add 1 to the Bravery characteristic of this unit while it includes any Icon Bearers. Abilities Bloodaxes: There is little reprieve a foe can expect when up against a foe armed with twin bloodaxes. You can re-roll hit rolls of 1 for attacks made with a pair of Bloodaxes. Butcher-shields: The rune covered shields that the Khorngors arm themselves with are devastating weapons in their own right. If an unmodified save roll for an attack made with a melee weapon that targets a unit any models armed with a Bloodaxe and Butcher-shield is 6; the attacking unit suffers 1 mortal wound after all its attacks have been resolved. Skullcleavers: Any Khorngor armed with the great weapon known as a Skullcleaver can expect to gather many skulls for their bloody god. If any unit that includes any models with a Skullcleaver makes an attack with a hit roll of 6; then they automatically cause 1 mortal wound upon the defending unit instead of rolling to wound. Skull-Crazed: Khorngors are especially driven to reap the skulls of their foes to offer up to their patron. On a successful charge that this unit makes, then add 1 to wound and hit rolls. Keywords: Chaos, Mortal, Khorne, Bloodbound, Khorngor

So I was trolling around YouTube when I stumbled across a video detailing the construction of a rotting leviathan from total war warhammer 2. I don't have that dlc but I was struck by inspiration! Unfortunately I'm in the middle of working on my stormcast eternals army and I don't like to leave things half finished. 3/4 finished maybe, but not half. So while I continue painting and basing the stormcast I'll keep this as a little project log. I wanted to have a sort of road map so I asked the soulblight forum for some list ideas. The current list will need 2 rotting leviathans, 1 with count (not)Noctilus on it, 40 deck crew zombies, 20 grave guard (I still am not sure of an analogue I want to use for them), 6 deck droppers, a wight king, a necromancer, and 5 mounted depth guard. The problem with the grave guard is that the total war equivalent are the depth guard, but they're vampires, not skeletons. The only lesser vampires are blood knights and depth guard are not mounted (why would you be on a ship?) The idoneth fortunately came to my rescue with an answer. The dread fleet uses the aethersea. So they ride large armored sharks/crabs or something into cites/villages. Perhaps even in boarding actions against other ships. For this reason, as well as the dangers of having someone who could actually threaten their cities, this dread fleet's arch enemy are the idoneth. Many an undersea bloodbath do I see occurring between the two. I'll get more into it when I get around to the lore posts. I'll be using the actual blood knight models instead of ishealan guard for the conversion as I don't fancy sculpting that much armor onto the fish/elves. So I'll have to wait for them to come back into stock. 😛 The rotting leviathans will follow the video that started it all as araknarok spiders with parts from the gloomtide shipwreck (plus some other odds and ends). Count (not)Noctilus I'm thinking will start life as the free stormcast that GW stores are handing out right now. Failing that (our store is currently without a manager), I'll probably troll around bits bins for a suitably tall and armored individual. Not sure if I'll put a lesser vampire onto the second leviathan. Well see what strikes my fancy. The new fell bats, while pretty, only offer 2 that could reasonably be carrying deck hands. I'm trying to keep as much of the stuff GW as I can for the sake of vanity (I like the idea of one day being featured on warhammer community. Silly, I know). I don't want to get 3 boxes of them, so I might have to look elsewhere or get creative. The deck hands will be pretty easy unless I want to get fancy, which of course, I do. Most of the fights are going to be against the idoneth and black arc corsairs (along with standard humans). That means a fair number of the crew are going to be from these individuals. That means, a box of zombies + corsairs + nemarti (maybe some frostgrave crew, though those can be a touch hard to find). I could also use those lovely cloaks for the grave guard. Maybe armed with nemarti great weapons? We'll see. I plan to make my way down from the top. Start with the heroes who will be influencing their minion's design. Not sure on the wight king. I'm currently thinking a vampire that lost their unlife that the count didn't wish to be parted from. Or an old first mate who refused to take the curse with his captain and served as a mortal until his passing. The old gunnery wight from the game can't have a 3+ save with just his shirt, so I'll work with something else. I'm playing around with the aristocracy side of things in my head currently. (also looking at medieval ship combat) I'm drawing a blank on who/what the necromancer should be on the ship. A doctor? The one who introduced the count to the curse? That creepy guy no one likes? A deep diving suit because necromancers are still alive and must breath? Who knows? Not me. I'm worrying about it after (not) Noctilus is built with his angry hermit crabs. Thank you for checking out this mad idea of mine and actually reading through this mess of ideas. As for the video that started it all:

What self-respecting force of bloodsucking wolfkin is complete without a wizened old dame riding a spurned ex-lover to lead them? I generally hate painting fur (Nagash knows why I chose a wolfy faction for my army), so last knight I sat down with the intention of forcing myself to get the wolves on this model started. 7-8 hours later I found that I'd basically finished the model. It's such a good sculpt full of nice hidden details and I literally couldn't put my brush down. Like Radikar, I love the composition of this model so much and it was an absolute joy to paint - the crispness of the detail on the sculpt really helps.

So the horde is gathering nicely, and I thought I'd post a mini-army shot of the models I've finished so far. I'm now over halfway towards having a completed 1000 pt Vyrkos dynasty force to start playing some games with. This is the list I'm working towards as my first milestone: - Radukar the Beast - Belladamma Volga - 2 units of 10 dire wolves (+1 extra unit summoned by Radukar's command ability) - 5 Blood Knights This comes to 980 pts total. Of this, I now have 2 Blood Knights and 15 wolves still to complete.

I've finished the first tester model for my blood knights scheme. I went for a similar overall scheme to the studio army but with purple barding. I'm still not 100% sold on it so I'd be really grateful to hear some feedback before I commit and paint the other 4. I may go for a very dark red/brown colour for the barding instead.

The first battleline unit for my new force is now complete; a unit of 10 dire wolves. These little critters were a really quick paint, which is a relief as I have to do 30 of 'em for my 1000 pt starter force. To keep things simple, I followed the suggested recipe from the battletome painting section, with a couple of tweaks: Fur: Chaos Black undercoat, drybrushed with Skavenblight dinge and Stormvermin fur. A final very light drybrush n the manes and tails with Celestra Grey. Wounds: Wazdakka red, highlighted with Tuskgor Fur. The skin around the wounds was Knight Questor Flesh highlighted with Cadian Fleshtone, and the whole thing was finished off with plenty of Blood for the Blood God technical paint. Bone: Morghast bone, Skeleton Horde, Ushabti Bone, Screaming Skull.

The mist! They came from the mist! That sickening green mist emerged from the shore, and they came for us. We who bear the black spot, we are doomed. Hello! First post here, I'd like to introduce myself with a project i've been thinking around since the experimental list of the Vampire Coast, and now with the rules from the Wraithfleet (or the surprisingly similar Legion of Night) and the release of the idoneth shipwreck I knew that the moment has come. Orval Vesh is the supreme admiral of the Fleet of Bones and self-proclaimed Mortarch of the Deeps, a deathlord wannabe whose greed is only overcome by his ego. He even "assembled" his own dread abyssal, Dagonys, out of the corpses of some of the greatest creatures from the seas of the realms, like the deepmare of Cerinthgaile, athelian queen of Fuethán, or the two headed lurkinarth that hunted the deeps near the Coast of Tusks. The fleet keeps growing with the corpse cart (corpse boat?), a drowned banshee and a necromancer: a soulscryer who thought he could negotiate with the undead pirates in exchange for new souls for his idoneth soldiers. Now his own soul is trapped in the dead man chest and he is a slave of the pirates, helping the fleet in pursuing the souls of the very idoneth he swore to protect.

I love this hobby, it has a special place in my heart. Getting back into Warhammer has really helped me work through some issues in a fun and productive way. However, I have found that on a lot of forums there is a lot of assumed knowledge required to take part in discussions. So I thought I might be a good idea to make a buffer document to help newer players by breaking things down a bit for the Death Alliance. This will be by no means a complete in depth look at the inner working for our beloved Grand Alliance, but will hopefully help some people to get to know the realm of death a bit better. This first post is going to be some house keeping and general info. Howdy! Long time lurker, first time poster! With the impending release of AoS 3.0 I have finally decided to take the plunge and work on my first fantasy army, as I'm sure many will do. My buddy (who is taking up Lumineth as his first AoS army) and I have challenged each other to completely paint 1000pts of our respective armies by September 1st 2021. This log will be where I put my thoughts, post pictures, and ask for advice. as well as eventually expand past our initial 1000pt mark. Currently I have: 1 box of Mortek Guard 2 boxes of Kavalos Deathriders 1 Liege Kavalos 1 Mortisan Boneshaper That should equal roughly 1000pts or just shy, I'll probably model up a Death themed Emerald Lifeswarm at some point. Anyway, pictures: Finished this guy yesterday, this is my test model and the scheme for the army. I'm thinking they will be based in the Realm of Beasts or something like that, hence the muddy/grubby base. I built these guys up to this point this evening, sword arms will be stuck on before paint, shields will be painted separate. As an aside, when did GW go to the bases they are currently using? I'm used to them being flat throughout, now they have that weird depression from the molding process in the center. Weird. Thanks all for reading!

Hi! I'm back! Today without much lore other than the lore contained within the warscrolls themselves. But today, I come to you to present the Hardtack Boarders and Rotting Cranians. Hardtack Boarders are zombie mates that use giant undead parrots smuggled from Ghyran to board other vessels and try to sink them as fast as they can. They are hard to hit and are able to pack a punch with the right leader choice (foreshadowing???). I will not lie, they were inspired by the boarding troops used by Vampire Coast in Total War, but I decided that giant bats are a little to cliche for my taste. The 2nd units, the Rotting Cranians are basically Rotting Prometheans brought over from The World that Was with a new name. I just like big crabs, what can I say, I hope we're getting more of them after the Underworlds release. As this is the first post I'd like to explain some of the lore of this faction. I'd like to mention that I tried to distance the Gravetide Corsairs from the Vampire Coast itself, as I want it to be a standalone faction with it's own backstory while retaining the vibe of a pirate-centric faction, although there are some rather obvious and outright stated references to Harkon and his crew. For the purposes of this faction I created an entirely new deep-dwelling race of shapeshifters original to the Mortal Realms called the Abyssals. The Abyssals were almost in their entirety wiped out by the Idoneth during their escape from Teclis as they were the first ones to have their souls consumed by the Deep Aelves, for they had some unique magical properties only encountered in their raced and appropriately dubbed Abyssal magic, a forgotten kind of Shyish magic now only wielded by the mostly feral and decrepit Abyssals, which after hundreds of years of hiding in the depths have devolved into an almost bestial state only able to use their powers in an instinctive manner. Only a few of them remained of sound mind and were considered the ruling caste of the underground Abyssal society. During Nagash's conquests of the realm of Shyish, he encountered one such Abyssal, the most powerful of the ruling sorcerers, Shra'ghot. The Abyssal would do anything to return his race to it's former glory, so they offered him a pact of loyalty with the intention of stabbing the Supreme Lord in the back when they have grown in power sufficiently to sperate their new empire from Nagash's grasp. As the Supreme Lord isn't that foolish to not see through the Abyssal's plans, yet was curious of the creature's abilities, he agreed to this pact on one condition, Shra'ghot would be supervised at all times by an envoy chosen by Nagash himself. After finding the fitting soul to assign to the creature, he conjured it back to life, giving form to Coraletta the Mad One, a vampiric corsair captain that served under the command of Luthor Harkon himself. With a new dark alliance formed, Shra'ghot has been crowned the Grand Admiral of the Undead Fleets and now seeks revenge against the ones who robbed them of their long lost legacy in the name of the Supreme Lord. So what do you think? I've already created a lot of warscrolls for this new army, here are the two "heroes" of this new story to give you a hint to what's to come in this project. I'd like to receive some constructive criticism from anyone who'd like to share their thoughts on what they've seen so far. Also, I've kind of hit a creative block when it comes to writing rules for the faction itself so if you have any suggestions I'd gladly read them. Hello there, this is my small painting log to keep myself motivated and, maybe, I might inspire some of you to get your Backlog cleared as well. Enough said, let the images flow! next up: And a side Project (WIP):
