What is Heldenstone would you ask? It is my Cities of Sigmar village, and appart from setting my army on it, I plan to build all the terrain neccesary to give shape to the village itself. That's where the helping bit comes into play. My idea for this thread was to post everything I own so whoever that wants to get involved can think and propose ideas on how to approach the terrain pieces to build Heldenstone. To start with I will show you a little description of Heldenstone. It is a mix of some rolls using the post created on 2017 and some personal preferences (who wants a citie where the citizens rolls is Silvaneth *2, Seraphon and Stormcasts?!). Name Heldenstone Realm Chamon Size Village Inhabitants Humans * 2 - Duardin - Stormcast Distinguishing Features Site of Great Battle - Mysterious Ruins - Legendary Monster Hunters Also, this is everything I own kits whise so we can have a rough idea on what are the options we have: 5 * Warcry Scenery – Azyrite Ruin 3 * Warcry Scenery – Azyrite Ruin 3 * Warcry Scenery – Azyrite Bell Tower 2 - 6 * Dominion of Sigmar Statue (I am selling 4 from the 6 I have as I changed my initial idea, but I could consider keeping some more) 1 * Warcry Scenery – Fallen Sigmar Statue 1 * Sigmarite Ruins 1 * Dominion of Sigmar: Timeworm Ruins 2 * Enduring Stormvault 1 * Enduring Stormvault (Gryph Hound Statue) 1 * Penumbral Engine 1 * Realmscape: Cleansing Aqualith 1 * Realmscape: Objective Set 1 * Azyrite Shattered Plaza (fountain frame only) 1 * Realmscape: Nexus Syphon 4 * Domicile Shell (from Realmscape: Thondian Strongpoint) 4 * Guardian Idol (from Realmscape: Thondian Strongpoint) In terms of STLs: Printable Basing Bits 1 Printable Basing Bits 2 Towers of Ellirmilborg Jagerholm (future purchase) And ofc I would use scratch building with stuff like foam. I will purchase also Realms of Ruin to use their map builder and take inspiration from their CoS buildings approach. And in terms of colours I've done this tests that I am quite happy with and I think would fit both the old ruins and the new Dawnbringer structures. I think the possiblities are endless and I am a slow builder/painter as I have a 9 months old twins, so drop me your ideas. I would consider them all! It doesn't have to be based on gameplay completely, as I am more kind of a collector/ painter profile. Thanks in advance

I'm starting this thread in an attempt to catalogue all the potential new cities being fought over in the more than 500 official Warhammer stores. If you feel uncomfortable sharing info about your location, you can still contribute by, say, checking out what's going on over in New Zealand. Or if you are from there, why not look at one of the (frankly maybe too many) UK stores? Most stores' info should be available on their Facebook pages. So, to start off, Warhammer World and all Austrian stores; Warhammer World - Wilderforte Wien Westbanhof - Astrid's Eyrie Wien Gasometer - Goblet Rock Graz - Marona's Post Linz - Unknown Innsbruck - Unknown Klagenfurt - Unknown Inspired by @EonChao

Hi, Long time lurker but first time poster in the forum, Wanted to show of my new cities of sigmar project im starting, Everything thing here is still very WIP but the aim is to have a cities army more akin to a old world or medieval army with lots of different heraldry throughout. My first unit of steelhelms I have gone with the idea of doing all entirely different heraldry although there will be some repeats in later forces representing lords sending multiple troops and not just one. I will try to flesh out some custom lore for each house as i go but everything as with the models them selves are unfinished. We have three examples of where am at with these guys bellow with a white and blue, red and blue and unusually brown scheme for these guys with all freehanded symbols. Still details that need fixing or finishing ( clearly the weapons ) for each but really happy with how they are looking You can see the rest of the unti as they stand bellow with all their symbols and cloths set out One that i do want to highlight is the banner which is not the symbol of any lord or noble but the symbol of their crusade force. The yellow royal eagle showing the crusade has royal consent to operate , the green and white swords representing it as a crusade rather then another thing given royal approval and the white showing the church. These should apear often on anyone/thing that is crusade specific like unit banners rather then something from the houses. Lastly I have been working on the weapons and think i have something to repeat for the rest of the squad Hope you like the posts as i want to keep this project going. I likely wont post again until this squad is done ( including basing which i am very up in the air on ) but will also be looking to enter a few cities into golden demon next year with an aim to beat my record this year which was one finalist pin by taking home two. Unsure what units /models i will aim for that idea though.

I'd like to open a new topic to discuss the inevitable changes and possible retcons of existing COS lore and the new 3.0 Dawnbringers lore, from the newly announced "human redesign." My thoughts aren't 100% collected so apologies if this is all over the place. I'll repost my blurb from the Rumour Thread that made me start this one: The follow up article for Dawnbringers https://www.warhammer-community.com/2022/05/05/revealed-the-massive-project-to-put-mortals-back-into-mortal-realms/ Again they say this is "new concepts and miniatures grounded in the lore… but also quite unlike anything you’ve seen before" ...and yet the description on the CAD renders is "These are some of the insignia, emblems, and symbols that will come with your models to demonstrate their rather macabre dedication to the God-King" which sounds EXACTLY like things we've seen before in both WHFB and 40k... So I don't think I'm alone in thinking that AOS does best when it relies on a nobledark setting, as opposed to the straight grimdarkness of 40k. The announcement that this is a human-centric redesign for Cities was worrying enough, but the small CAD renders we were given as a teaser left me with a bad taste enough taste to make the entire reveal extremely bittersweet. I'm worried that GW is going to make AOS into the fully-grimdark mess that 40k and WHFB are; where they try to make everyone Dark Grey/Black and leave zero room for actual heroics and hope. Are they doing this to try and court 40k fans? To grab more of the WHFB holdouts that haven't jumped to AOS? Will a human-centric redesign, and thus a human-centric Crusade, mean that yet another human-supremacist faction like the Imperium is inevitable for AOS? **editing this into main post: My main concern stems from the fact that GW established metropolitan cities where humans, elves, and dwarves (among even others!) coexist with each other. So why is this huge redesign NOT a combination of human, elf, and dwarven aesthetics to make a truly unique AOS mortals faction? Why does it look like fantasy-Imperium with the TINY amount of bitz they've shown us?? My purpose for this thread is to collect any questions, concerns, rumours, and existing lore to discuss what a complete human redesign means for AOS as a game and as a setting. Optimally, I'd also like to organize some sort of letter-writing to GW from those of us who like AOS as the nobledark alternative to GW's other settings.

Since most of us who ordered the Cities army box should have hopefully received it by now, I thought it would be interesting to know which City is (at least from TGA’s sample size) the most liked in terms of lore and hobby, disregarding current, past or future hopes for rules. What colour scheme catches your eye the most? Which City has the most modelling potential? What are your favourite snippets of lore from them (Greywater Rattletraps, Tempest’s Eye transportation, Living City in general)? Which factions would be fun allies to bring in variety to your collection while remaining cohesive in theming? (Also, this has absolutely nothing to do with me being indecisive in deciding what City I should go with.)

Also known as "Asbestress' mediocre Cities army project thread made solely to motivate her to actually finish something" LORE Greywater Fastness. The industrial heart of Sigmar's Empire. A smoke-wreathed city stretching from horizon to horizon. Amidst the Era of the Beast, it's expansion continues apace, while the tenuous peace made with the sylvaneth of Dreadwood strains ever closer to it's breaking point. On the One Road, a new Dawbringer Crusade sets out, eager to found a new canton which, eventually, will be subsumed by the city itself. I have some more stuff in terms of lore, but that will have to come with time. Parts of the army Not content on settling for one army to collect, this army will be made up of three different "sub-forces" 32nd Greywater Expeditionary Force Making up the bulk of the army (and the minis currently done), the Expeditionary Force consists of the Freeguild, Ironweld, Dispossessed and other forces of the Fastness. From Handgunners to Steam Tanks, almost all can be found here. (Mainly Greywater coloured minis) Canton Devoted Coming from the canton of Grimmshallow, the Canton Devoted are the religious arm of the Crusade. Ranging from Sigmarite Warrior Priests and their Flagellant throngs to the ill-trusted priests of Alarielle, the priests of many gods of Order can be found amongst them. (Darker purples and golds/Greywater colours) Azyrite Inspectorate Growing weary of the unstable situation in the Ghoul Mere, the 32nd Expeditionary Force is being accompanied by a cadre of Celestial Battlemages from Azyrheim, sent by the Lords of the Heavenfall themselves. Their duty is the ensure the peace is kept between the sylvaneth and the Crusade. Each Wing of the Expeditionary Force is accompanied by at least one Mage and their Celestial Hurricanum, who are themselves followed by contingents of Azyrheim Greatswords and, where deemed worthy, even Stormcast Eternals. Fearing the Great Plan has become imperiled by the same dire situation in the area, the Inspectorate has been joined by several skinks of an unknown Starhost. Their current leader, a Skink Priest known only by the title of "Restorer of Harmony", has been rumoured to have been behind the death of several industrial magnates and even members of the Council of the Forge. (Mainly "Azyrite colours", rich cyans and purples, with golden accents for Cities units, and "galaxy" style patterns on purple with cyan accents for Seraphon) STATE OF THE ARMY Right now I only have a few units and characters painted (see below), but I'm hoping to finish off my backlog (another Steam Tank, a Runelord, a Helstorm/Helblaster and a Xintil War-magi box), and complete my dream of a 3 Steam Tank squadron, and probably add some new Seraphon and a SC Greywater Fastness before the range refresh arrives (probably around mid-late Fall), so that I can actually begin getting some infantry and start building an actually sensible list. As always, C&C is appreciated! P.S.: Apologies for the bad photography, I aim to improve as this thread continues 😛 Currently complete minis

I fell away from WHFB just before End Times started, and now that AoS is starting to get really good I'm excited to get back into it. I always regretted not starting an Empire army back in the day, and I have an abundance of Dark Elf models with some random High Elf and Wood Elf stuff, so now seems like the perfect time to lean hard into Cities of Sigmar, staring with my aelves and adding on some empire or even dwarven stuff. Here's what I already own. What CoS units are the first things I should pick up to fill in any deficiencies or missing roles? I'd like to focus on Freeguild / Ironweld/ Collegiate Arcane / other old "Empire" stuff if I can. Dark Elves 1 Black Dragon with swappable characters (Dreadlord/Sorceress) 1 Black Ark Fleetmaster 3 Supreme/Sorceresses on foot 2 Assassins Many* Dreadspears Many* Darkshards 16 Corsairs\ 5 Dark Riders 10-12 Drakespawn Knights Many* Black Guard ~15 Executioners 5 Shades (Counts-as for Shadow Warriors?) 2 War Hydras High Elves: 2 High Elf Princes on Griffons (Counts-as for Freeguild General on Griffon?) 2 High Elf Mages (Battle Wizards?) Many* High Elf Archers (Counts-as for Sisters of the Watch?) 20 Lothern Sea Guard (Count-as for Sisters of the Watch? More corsairs?) 20 Sword Masters (Counts-as for Wildwood Rangers? Freeguild Greatswords?) ~20 Phoenix Guard 10 Ellyrian Reavers (Counts-as for Sisters of the Thorn? More Dark Riders?) 5-10 Dragon Princes (Count-as Wild Riders? More Drakespawn Knights?) Wood Elves: I think I may also have 5-10 Wild Riders lying around somewhere. *Many = At least enough for 1 large unit or 2 small units in WHFB, probably enough to field 2 or maybe even 3 units in AoS. Other DE models I have that probably have no use in CoS: 3 Masters/Dreadlords on foot, 1 Master/Dreadlord on Cold One, 1 BSB on foot, 1 BSB on Cold One, 1 Supreme/Sorceress on Cold One, 2 Repeater Bold Throwers, A bunch of Khainite stuff that's part of the Daughters of Khaine faction now.

I've had a blog here for a few years, but I want to consolidate it and try and keep this topic going to keep me motivated in 2022. 2021 sucked in so many ways, so I figure today is a good day for new beginnings. Rather than using the Blog posts for each project, I'll just consolidate it all here. I've loved Dark Elves forever, and have screwed around with a Cities of Sigmar all-Dark Elf army, and a Daughters of Khaine snek-force. That's the "Dark" half of the title. Last month I bought a second-hand undead army. That's the "Dead" half of the title. My goal is to finish at least one of the three armies in 2022. LOL. Even as I write that I know I'm full of s###, but let's see how far I get, eh? If you want to see my WIP dark elf stuff from the last three years, it's in the link below. When I update any of that stuff I'll just post in this topic. And here's my current project: Grave Guard based on the amazing new skeletons from the Cursed City set. Those models are what awakened my love of all things undead. I fought the desire to start a new massive project for almost a year, but then i saw someone in my city unloading a pile of CC characters, zombies and skeletons. I blame the pandemic, but I'd really run out of steam with my Daughters of Khaine and just wanted to start some new new and... well, "fresh" ain't the word, is it? I want the Garve Guard to be the cornerstone of my army; they need to be as big as the skeletons, as dynamic, but even more intimidating. So here's my first ten. I wanted some movement, but I wanted to retain the shambling quality to them. The arms are from Dark Elf executioners, because that's what I had in my bitz box. I think the chain mail and sleeves fit though. I removed the blades from the executioner swords and replaced them with blades from darkblades. The originals were a bit too ornate, I wanted more functional. I added shields to their backs to bulk up their silhouettes, and help me separate them from my regular skeletons. I need to build ten more, so that's next. I'm also working on building two dragons from a Stormdrake box. I've been waiting 35 years for Games Workshop to design a good dragon, and they FINALLY did it. All of their attempts had poor anatomy, dodgy proportions, goofy teeth or eyes... these finally look like living creatures. So, one's for my CoS army, and the other will be zombified. I desperately want to get them built; they are one of the nicest plastic kits I've ever seen. I have a specific idea for the zombie dragon's base though, and ordered it earlier this week. So, that's on hold for at least a week, and it's killing me waiting :). Anyways... here's to a productive 2022!

It reminds me a lot of Bretonnia in a way. If you love the lore as I do, you will know that as a commander of a Dawnbringer Crusade you are not just fighting to win the battle, you are also fighting to avoid losing because behind your army there is a caravan of poor people, oldmen, mothers and childs looking for a better future... those are your people. You MUST protect them! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGctASqrXis&ab_channel=Warhammer This worlds are cruel you may fail, but you will never concede! NOT if there is at least one man alive in the battlefield waiting for your orders, NOT if your last weapon is still sharp, even if the owner of the shop is telling you that he is going to close the DAMN store with you inside, you will stay there fighting alongside your troops! Because that people believe in you, you are their last hope, their champion. You are a Dawnbringer! And for Sigmar, that's what we will do! :3

Elsvera Von Heinria, Magistrix of magic. Her family once led large covens of battlemages and sorceresses into battle as well as supporting the city through their magical abilities. now, she leads only a small handful of students as they slowly rebuild the city. her magic alongside her dragon Indraugnir was vital as part of the assault on the Plaguekeep. blasting apart the walls with concentrated breaths of fire and dark magic. Since the city has started to being rebuilt, she has come under suspicion for the continued plague that corrupts the land by Lord Valus, who has taken up an anti magic sentiment after the destruction of the city and the continued problems plagueing the rebuilding efforts. but she has continued seeing the construction of a large observatory on help with her viewing the future. currently her magic is being blocked and she only sees darkness, but their is a glimmer a rising leering skull that is becoming ever clearer, what that means she does not know. but for the future sake of the city, she is determined to see it's survival.

Every other city has a discussion, so why not create one for the best one in age of sigmar? 😉 Seriously though, I personally think this city can really help connect the different keywords we have and allow us to use each one effectively with all the chances to get command points. Plus, these guys could have some good combos with relics and command abilities and some bigger units. I mentioned it in the overall discussion, but having a stormdrake from this city rush an objective could be terrifying with the command traits and relic choices given to us. As long as you have him in your opponents territory and have a spare command point, that extra attack activation could turn the tide of a game!

Anyone remember when the lore mentioned that no Aelves could be found in the Realms save for Azyr? There was also mention of enclaves of Elves who survived the Old World and remained hidden in the realms until they saw fit to reveal themselves. We know the Idobeth, Lumineth and Scathborn were created from the souls rescued from Slaanesh's belly. I believe the Darkling, Scourge, Serpentis and Wanderer cultures originate in Ulgu and Ghyran. I can also see the Dark Aelves and Wanderers "going home" to their respective gods as the game's narrative progresses and leaving an Aelven shaped hole in the Cities of Sigmar. The writers seem to flip flop on whether the old high elf proxies are still canon or not but it is a culture I'd like to see explored. Aelves who rejected the rule of their own gods (remembering how the scions of Aenarion screwed everything up, especially Teclis and Tyrion) and chose to remain in Azyr and form their own kingdoms and cultures (I imagine Sigmar was content to leave them to their own devices, maybe in return for Aelven magic tutoring for humans). I want to see a unique take on these Aelves of Azyr as part of the Cities of Sigmar faction, basically picking up the slack of the factions that went home, but you could still totally use in the appropriate cities of course. Of course this could mean new models, repurposing existing kits and/or borrowing from the future Old World High Elf kits. Come to think of it I hope going forward we get to see the Cities develop their own unique identities beyond being the home for old world refugees.

The Root Kings: A Living City Army Hello everyone, Here is the start of my Root Kings Cities of Sigmar Army. I discovered the above art from Sometimes Minis blog last month and became fascinated by the concept of druidic dwarfs. After plenty of planning I've decided to aim for the below 1k army list. Lords: Warden King - 110pts (plan is to convert this chap up so he could also be used as Gotrekas well) Rune Lord - 90pts Battleline: Hammers-140pts Ironbreakers-130pts Irondrakes- 150pts Other: 2x Gyrobombers-160pts Kurnoth Hunters- 200pts I plan on doing plenty of conversions, so keep an eye out for them!

Long time no post. This time I'm posting a classic conversion of mine, which was inspired by the old marienburg landship forgeworld used to produce. This great kit was unfortunately long out of production at the time when I started working on this army. Nonetheless I wanted to do a model which paid tribute to it, and a steam tank conversion seemed a ripe candidate (fun fact: the original fluff in WFB for the landship was that it was created as something of a crude imitation of the steam tank, which they were unable to replicate). I searched for a super-long time for a suitable base model, because I didn't want to have to build the right shape from scratch from framing (I was concerned about symmetry issues). Luckily, a visit to a prominent hobby shop lead me to finding this bandai model kit, which made for a great basic shape to form the structure of the new model. Oh, and I was working from a steam tank kit that I'd partially painted and had lying in sub-assemblies when I began working on it, hence why some of the part already have some paint on em. First things I did with it was cut back a lot of the bandai kit and then gave it a flush, flat back part with a large piece of flat plasticard. After that I added some banding and basic trim, and then I added a whole heap of plasticard to cover up the original surface of the bandai kit because the detail on it was totally out of scale for Age of Sigmar. I also played around with adding a decorative mast from some left over dreadfleet bits, but I ultimately decided against it (too much clutter imo, and there wasn't a nice mounting point anyway). All the wood texture was just done by inscribing it in with the point of a hobby knife - quite simple and effective. Here's an undershot - all the rivets were carefully sliced off the hull of a kharadron hull that I managed to get for cheap on a bits site. A dab of plastic glue and job's a good one. Here you can see it finally coming together. I made a steam tank commander from greatsword parts (I had other plans for some of the original commander parts). As you can see I've added quite a few details and decorations to break up the surface. AND complete! (At least in terms of construction, not painting of course). On this pic you can see I've added some rungs (how else does the commander get inside?) leading up to the lowered part of the upper skirting/trim. I've also added back some viewing ports from the original steam tank kit, but I had to invert them just like I inverted basically the whole shape of the tank. I also added some decorative greenstuff heraldry with a creepy deep sea creature on the trim/skirting. Hope you enjoyed this entry, I'll be adding more entries soon.

Hello! I'm collecting some Wanderer units and have questions in regards to what unit size works best for certain models and what is worthwhile. Eternal Guard: Are these worth to run in larger units? Are these best run in 10, 20, or 30? Wildwood Rangers: Are these worth using at all? I can make 10 of these instead of more Eternal Guard, but unsure if they're worth it at 10 or only more useful on larger unit sizes. Sisters of the Thorn: These seem best run in 5s, i don't see a reason to have them run in larger sizes. Wild Riders: Are these worth running now? I see some conflicting advice on whether they're good or not and they cost the same points and money. Sisters of the Watch: these are expensive both money and points wise so I'm not sure if they're worth it. Any advice on how good these are at all would be helpful.
