  3. Hey, all. I'm currently stuck between three army choices, Ironjawz, Sylvaneth and Stormcast for a 1000 point list. I'm at a stage of seeing the pros and cons in each list and I'm going insane through too much choice! haha I'm playing on a 4x4 board using objectives from the General's Handbook. I'm personally leaning towards Ironjawz because of the speed but I love my Sylvaneth and Stormcast are a curiosity. The new book really sold me on them! Ironjawz 1 x Warboss, 1 x Black Orc Big Boss, 2 x Warchanters. 2 x 5 Brutes and 10 Ardboys with Ironfist Sylvaneth 1 x Treelord Ancient (briersheath, oaken armour), 1 x Branchwych, 2 x 10 dryads, 2 x 3 kurnoth hunters with bows Stormcast 1 x Knight Azyros (staunch defender, lantern of the tempest, mirrorshield , 2 x 5 Liberators, 4 x Tempestors, 2 x Fulminators (I think I've got the last two right) - The question is - what would you pick out of the three, or even improve?
  4. I have finished the wooden shields of Alarielle. Pretty pleased with how they have turned out, the green shoulders and blue blades tie them in pretty well with the rest of my army. Up next are my Dracoths, having an internal debate over these, wondering if I should chop off those hammer heads and replace them with Scythes, as well as how to approach painting them. I am thinking of doing them in a similar manner to my Magmadroth, just without the metallic scales, but that may be a bit too much. Well only one way to find out, unless any of you have some good suggestions for Dracoth paint schemes that fit in with the rest of the army. Once I am done painting these guys I have no choice but to start basing,... so it may take a while. As always c&c are appreciated.
  5. Hey guys and gals! Thought Id put up a blog here too to get some feedback on my minis and mayhaps some inspiration to get stuff done. I have a load of armies going on, some actually decent sized and some Im just pretty much beginning, even if I have a load of unbuilt minis for some armies waiting. These wont be in any chronological or w.e order and I tend to paint a mini from here and there, I seem to lose my interest in painting the same colours and minis from beginning to actually having something to call an army. So, I might upload a pic of a new dryad and next an Orruks Brute and so on But my back is killing me atm so Ill keep this short, pic time! First up are my speedpainted Nurglies, these are mostly done by washing and drybrushing with the occasional highlight. I painted these with a rather limited pallette, just to keep it simple and quick. The big guy himself The Lord of Plagues and my tiny Sorcerer I do have some close ups too if someone wants Blightkings Warriors Dragon Ogres, theres a third one too but its more or less the same. Ten of these doggies, all the same Then something with a bit more effort put into them, my few ready Stormcasts So there, some of my works Atm there are some Sylvaneth coming, whenever I have the time actually paint and my back has gotten better and whenever I get around to taking pics of the few Ive actually painted already and I have a pile of Orruks too, mainly Ironjawz coming sometime in the future. I have 5 or so 40k projects too but dont think ill be spamming them here, you can see some in my Instagram profile though, routaminiatures. Feel free to hit the follow if interested. I will try and keep this updated when I get stuff done, might take a while sometimes, especially if Im painting 40k. But enough jabbering, feedback is happily received, be it good or bad. -Routa
  6. 7. Hi all I'm seeking a little clarity of multiple wizards casting the same spells in the hero phase...at my club last week it was mentioned that I could only cast 'regrowth' with my sylvaneth wizards once per turn. In theory I could have numerous wizards casting this same spell, or any other for that matter I.e mystic shield. In the faqs 1.0 it says that mystic shield CAN be cast multiple times on same unit, increasing buffs accordingly. My question is then, does this apply to all spells? Can I cast the same spells with different wizards in any given hero phase?
  8. Allarielle's soul amphorae says she can do this in the hero phase, does this mean in both friendly and enemy hero phase or just the friendly hero phase, thanks!!!
  9. Afternoon TGA fans. Looking to shift an unfinished project. started sylvaneth but after a few games really don't like the play style. As you can see I have everything to build most competitive and fluff lists. Looking to shift in one go. Will be offering it at a bargain price and heavily reduced. May consider an army swap for the right offer but cash is my priority at the moment. Alarielle painted but base not finished. 4 treelords -ancient painted and based -Durthu painted -2x still on sprue. Branchwych-undercoated Drycha still on sprue Dryads on sprue from start collecting box. Dryads BNIB 5 tree revenants painted 5 tree revenants basecoated 4 boxes of tree revenants BNIB 6x kurnoth hunters with scythes built not painted. 3x kurnoth hunters with bows painted and based. 3x kurnoth hunters with bows basecoated. 4x sylvaneth wyldwoods on sprue. Sylvaneth battletome. 3x packs of sylvaneth dice. Pics on request.

Question 1. Sylvaneth players can, with a few good rolls, block off my entire deployment zone with woods and stop any big models without fly from moving past them invalidating over half my army. Is this good for the game? It feels very much like a gotcha and a null game seeing as destruction tend to run several big beasts. Were the forests meant to be played as unpassable? I can understand a unit taking damage through this terrain but to stop models from being able to be moved seems silly. Question 2. Woods don't cost any points to slyvaneth players. But summoning and reinforcements do. I don't see the difference between summoning a unit and summoning a wood? I am mainly talking about competitive play here and I am interested to hear both sides of the argument.
  11. I have finished the Scythes of Alleriel, very pleased with how they turned out, they're clearly part of the overall army while adding some golden armour to the sea of wooden bodies. They were easy to convert and easy to paint up, the only downside to them is how expensive it would be to add another 5 now that i dont just have the parts lying around. Up next you can see I have blocked in the colours for my Liberators, still have to highlight everything, but you can see the general direction that I am going for and I am pretty pleased with how its turning out. After these 10 I have 2 dracoth riders left to paint, along with the Prime and Knight-Venerator to build and convert, debating what i should do for those, as I want to give them some Sylvaneth elements on top of the paint job. Gonna try and see if the Kurnoth bow fits the Venerator well enough, mayb through in some sprites. On another note I still haven't started basing... my self justification at this point is that I will finish the army and then base it so that its all consistent, at least thats what I keep telling myself. Of course once I am done with the stormcast contingent I may very well be looking to add some flying dwarf backup. or even some Cthulu elves if they are cool enough. Comments and criticisms as always are appreciated.
  12. It has been a while, but that is the school life for you. Managed to finally finish off the last of my Sylvaneth, unfortunately this means i have no more excuses and need to begin basing them. As you can see I had a little AoS painting break, but honestly the Visarch could totally fit in a fantasy elf army. For what is next for me? well on the the Stormcast allies for my tree people. I will either be converting all of them or painting them to look like they have received gifts from Allerial to give a running theme throughout the force. What do you guys think of the wooden shields? I am currently debating whether I should make all of their weapons the glowing blue I have done for the Sylvaneth, but that may be a bit much, thats gonna take some experimenting to figure out. I always enjoy rambling to myself here, so time to get started on the Scythes of Allerial, and basing... I guess. Comments and criticisms as always are welcome.
  13. So a 1k point tournament is going to happen soon for some cinder event or whatever and I was thinking of what tournament competent lists i could make with 1k points. I am facing off against a guy that likes to spam double blade plague monks, a guy who loves bloodwarriors and the lord of khorn with his deletion axe, storm cast eternals dude, ironjawz but with the shaman on a vortex and foot of gork etc etc scary lists What i was thinking was Treelord Ancient: gnarled warrior, oaken armor, regrowth-300 20-dryads-240 5 tree revenants-100 Kurnoth hunters-3-scythes-180 Kurnoth hunters-3-bows-180 what do you guys think? what have you fielded?
  14. I have four of them and for right now, I stack the bases into the bottom of a plastic tub, then I stack the trees on top of them, and each other, until said tub is full of a giant, tangled mess. Then when I go to play again, I invariably break something pulling it out of the tub as I play "Barrel O' Monkeys" with forest parts. Do you have any ideas for transporting your trees? What do you do?

  19. Knowing how the Gnarlroot Glade loves all things magic and prizes artifacts of sorcerous power above all, I was thinking of thinking of incorporating some relics from the end days into their arsenal. The most popular seems to be the Celestial Hurricanum, but I would imagine finding some Wizards from the Collegiate Arcane not exactly willing to follow around a Sylvaneth army. My idea is the Sylvaneth come across a long forgotten, and most likely damaged, Celestial Hurricanum that they wish to press into service. Rounding up four strong Stags shouldn't be too much of a problem for them, and a Kurnoth Hunter might even give the wagon a push. Riding atop the Hurricanum would be a Branchwych and a couple Dryads in attendance. I don't think I'm the only one with this idea as I could swear I had seen a picture floating around the internet like it. I want to give it an ancient feel with rusted and moss covered parts. The many candles providing illumination of the pristine wagon would have long melted away, and would be shunned by the Sylvaneth anyhow. In their place would be lanterns of Faerie fire or Fireflies. For the planetary objects of the original would be instead replaced by Spites of varying shades. Gamewise, all of the abilities of the original Celestial Hurricanum would still apply. Stags attack like war horses, Dryads attack like Acolytes, etc. Do you have any thoughts, opinions, or ideas on kitbashing one? I'll need, of course, a Celestial Hurricanum, Sisters of the Thorn kit, Branchwych, couple Dryads, maybe a Kurnoth Hunter if I can get him into a pushing pose, and several Spites from the Treelord kits. For a base, the largest oval from GW is the 170mm x 105mm. I don't have the Hurricanum yet, so would it fit on that base with all the other models? All advice and inspiration is appreciated!

  23. So a minor painting update, I have been swamped at school and am on my reading week, so I have only managed to get some base colours on my Treelord Ancient. I am thinking of making his claws ghostly to match the other Sylvaneths' weapons as i want his staff to be a vibrant flower. I am currently on my march break, and while you'd think that would give me more free time to paint, alas I am visiting family and all my paints are back at my apartment. On the upside though, I have finished building my Paladins, really pleased with how this conversion turned out, surprisingly easy, if incredibly expensive if I didn't already have the bits lying around. especially pleased with the Prime, go the idea for a wooden arm from the campaign book where the lady of the vines replaces a Stormcasts hand. This means not only does the conversion look cool, it also has fluff precedent. I am hoping I will be able to finish painting my Treelord Ancient and my 3 remaining Hunters before my exams start, but its going to be one hell of a rush to the end of the school year. (Spirit of Durthu for reference for what the Ancient will kind of look like once I am done)
