  1. Hello Everyone, I'm starting a blog to document my workings on a Beastclaw Raiders Army. So far I have the start collecting box assembled as well as an Icebrow Hunter that I've kitbashed from spare parts. I'm currently waiting for paints to arrive so here are some WIP shots of the models. I felt that the models didn't quite line up with the lore so I sculpted fur cloaks/shawls on all of the riders, as well as a big leather bag for the Hunter to carry his gear in. Also, I'll add a few pictures of the Fimirach that I painted up for fun but that I'll end up using as Allies for the Raiders. And Finally, some Spiderfang Grots from an older army that I built repurposed as Swamp goblins for my Fimir. C+C's are always greatly appreciated! Bores

Ok so maybe I'm cherry picking a few opinions but lately I've seen a few posts around the forums where some people think Ogors/Gutbusters/Beastclaw Raiders should be in a combined book....with the orruks and grots (non ogor grots like gitmob). For example Now ok I get it, for some excuse ogors now follow gorkamorka (although the quoted idea bring back the Great Maw) and are under the destruction banner and how WFB is dead and faction compositions have radically changed. But I just don't know if it really makes sense to have a Battletome where Ogors and Orruks pal around. Ok yes on one hand making a big combined battletome will allow everyone to get updated at the same time which would be great (So it would be in essence a better made GA: Destruction 2.0.), but I fear this would dilute the differences between Ogors and Orruks especially since they already designed Beastclaw Raiders and the Everwinter. I mean it would almost be like Ogors are just bigger Orruks...and we already have that with Ironjawz! Plus the synergies between ogors and orruks are (currently) non existent. An Orruk Warboss waaagh only affects orruks, not even green grots. Ogors would be an even bigger stretch (imo, I mean I know the fluff has changed where ogors and orruks do work together more). Now I understand not every model should help every other model. A Bullgor's command ability doesn't do anything to Thunderscorne. But the 2 "big soup" books we have make sense with nostalgia and theme glasses. Legions of Nagash is Vampire Counts 2.0 (minus ghouls). Beasts of Chaos is literally the original book back in WFB (minus trolls and ogres). It's not like Beasts of Chaos absorbed Skaven or even combined with Slaves to Darkness. That said I do see the arguments for Order Free Cities since we already have the concepts and even loose rules for Free Cities. Yet the Firestorm Destruction allegiance is just orruks and grots, not Ogors. As I said maybe I'm seeing a vocal minority, do you see other people suggesting ogors and orruks be combined? Do you think it may be the better compromise to take the "neglected" aspects of destruction and update them in one big book so no one is left behind?

    Allegiance: Gutbusters

    Coming in HOT after a small points reduction to some key units it's Destruction's finest multi-wound, semi elite force. This faction is packed with solid, durable units and very few of them deal less than 2 damage with each swing of their weapon and some brutal syngergies. Where to start? Well obviously we need to get a hero and at least two battleline choices. Starting with the Hero choice, the Gutbusters have two of these. The Tyrant is a melee bruiser who can smack most other heroes into line, with a randomly generated bonus trait not unlike a command trait and a toasty command ability that lets him inflict D3 mortal wounds on a friendly Gutbuster unit to make it totally immune to battleshock. The Butcher is the wizard choice, usually taken with the optional Great Cauldron option that gives him a random ability that can heal or harm. Obviously with only two hero choices, we'll probably end up having some of each of these two. As battleline goes, you've got Ogors (generic battleline), and Leadbelchers and Ironguts (Gutbusters battleline). The Ogors are your rank and file, packing 4 wounds and decent damage. The Leadbelchers are more of the same but packing decent firearms as well. The Ironguts are your elite infantry, horrifyingly brutal in close combat and capable of taking down basically anything. Where to next? Now we have the foundation, we need to tack on some utility. Often overlooked in this allegiance are the Grots, these cheap little gobbos can net objectives and form decent screens to prevent your valuable troops being closed on by enemy assets. Furthermore, the Tyrant can make them permanently immune to battleshock, which is exceptionally useful. For shooting, Leadbelchers are already passable but to mix some artillery in we have the Grot Scraplauncher (good at dicing hordes) and the Ironblaster (high rend that does ok against numbers but is better served shooting at high wound single models. Also weirdly good at close combat). There's also Gorgers, a flanking option that's also relatively cheap. They are made from finecast however, so consider converting some out of Flesh Eater Crypt Haunters. Adding in Allies Keeping with the Ogor theme, both the Stonehorn and Thundertusk Beastriders can be allied in at 2k points, and the Frostlord on either mount can tag along at 2.5k. For less extravegant options consider the Maneaters, an elite Ogor unit which is both flexible and fun to convert up, and various trolls from the Troggoths units for some seriously durable units. The Finished Product Allegiance: Gutbusters Leaders Tyrant (160) - Massive Ogor Club Butcher (140) Butcher (140) Battleline 6 x Ogors (240) - Ogor Clubs or Blades with Iron Fists 6 x Ogors (240) - Ogor Clubs or Blades with Iron Fists 3 x Leadbelchers (140) 3 x Leadbelchers (140) 6 x Ironguts (360) Units 60 x Grots (270) 1 x Ironblaster (120) Total: 1950 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 1 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 187 In this list I opted out of any allies and doubled down hard on the powerful options already available to the faction. I left 50 points out to get an extra command point for a turn one Tyrant hits the grots and makes them immune to battleshock, then burn another command point if I dont roll a 6 on the grot run to get them right out in front of the army spread out. The slow moving Ogors can move up behind this grot phalanx (which will inevtiably die once sneezed on) until the enemy is within firing range. Their durability will allow the Ogors to hold the objecctives easily against the enemy. Any Gutbusters players reading, definitely comment if I've missed anything. You guys are the real heroes.

So in the last few months, I've fallen into the usual trap of getting distracted - by new shiny releases, old rediscovered projects, etc. As a result I've fallen behind in what I'm meant to be focusing on - a new Destruction army for this year's 6 Nations in Scotland, and finishing off my Golden Demon entries in Warhammer Fest in May. Oh - and regularly updating this blog. I think I can probably file that under "never gonna happen" So - to business! With Golden demon just under a month away I've been furiously painting, trying to get entries ready for the big day. I've a few WIP images but i'll share those at a later date, once the competition is over - as only some are AOS related they may not interest the vast majority of readers here However, on the new army side of things I can show off some images. For this year's Six Nations in scotland, I've decided to shelve my flesh eaters, and build up a destruction army. In case you're not aware, one of the rules is that each team needs to bring a minimum of 1 grand allegiance each. In our local scene there arent many destruction playser, so I decided that I'd take the initiative and build up an Ogor army, using my old 8th ed army as a basis. I always liked the ogors as an army. The relatively low model count allows me to go all out with conversions, freehand details, etc. I also liked the idea of building an army that wasn't seen everywhere. I've never counted myself as being overly "competitive" so building a cool themed army was more important to me. The rough concept I'm working with is a roaming tribe of ogors on the plains of Ghur. I'm gonna lean into the tribal motif, so tribal tattoos, shamanic masks, etc. The list is built around the gutbuster wartribe batallion As it stands, the list is as follows: Butcher (140) - Artefact : Collar of Domination Tyrant (160) - General - Command Trait : Might is Right - Great Gutgouger - Artefact : Battered Talisman Units 9 x Ironguts (600) 3 x Ogors (120) -Ogor Clubs or Blades with Iron Fists 6 x Leadbelchers (280) 12 x Ogors (400) -Ogor Clubs or Blades with Iron Fists 6 x Ogors (240) -Ogor Clubs or Blades with Iron Fists Gutbuster Wartribe (60) Total: 2000/ 2000 I'm playing around with using the old Bragg the Gutsman model as a tyrant, converted to have a Baron Samedi feel - complete with battered top hat! I'll try and keep some updates of how the army looks as i finish off units. For now, the aim is to get everything built and on the right bases.     Gutbuster Allegiance Abilities/Artifacts

    Hi all! My brother and I are working on allegiance abilities/artifacts/command traits/a battalion or two for the much abused Gutbusters. I was wondering, before I started posting on it, if anyone else was working on a similar project? I'm going to post what we have tomorrow afternoon (ET) in anyone is interested.
