I kitbashed some Nurgle Chaos Warriors awhile back and just got around to painting them. First real attempt at kitbashing an entire unit and it seemed to go pretty well. I have some nurgle chaos knights coming down the line and a few lords in various states of building or painting. The goal is to eventually have nurgle marked warriors, knights, chariots, and lords to compliment my Rotbringer army. Let me know what you think! Im not the best painter, and I am horrible at edge highlighting but I tried my best anyways!!

Sunday Spotlight: The Ancient One
The Brotherhood of Necros posted a blog entry in The Brotherhood of Necros
"From my rotting body, flowers shall grow, and I am in them, and that is eternity." Edvard Munch Apologies for the lack of updates recently. It's been a while, but then it's taken me a while to tackle this month's challenge. At the beginning of February, to align with Tales of Instahammer's Monster Month, I set myself the task of complete The Ancient One atop his zombie dragon. I'd be lying if I said it hasn't been a slog, but we've made it. Who is The Ancient One? (The lore) For decades, this vampire's spirit has walked the Realm of Death's many underworlds. Unfettered from his cadaver during bouts of deep sleep, he has travelled far in his hunger for knowledge and secrets. Most souls are all too eager to share their stories. Others are doomed to repeat their final moments or strongest memories; The Ancient One need only watch. Even the dead want to be heard. Now his tower stirs again. Fell bats flock to the upmost turrets, crawling like lizards to rest in the rafters. Those humans and the other base creatures held in the laboratories huddle deeper in the shadows. Deep beneath even the duardins' old tunnels, rows of iron maidens rattle once more with madness and the crunch of mandibles. Acolytes long sequestered in their private quarters feel the winds shift and look up with red eyes and trembling hands, helpless against their father's will. Back in possession of his remains, he pushes aside the lid of his sarcophagus and emerges into total darkness to record that knowledge, the secrets of the dead painted on reams of human skin that he might reread them, refer back to them, draw pleasure from them all over again in his quest to understand them. For only in understanding them does he make them his own. And they will be his. "I come back to myself slowly, and the visions of the dead come with me. They dance in the corners of my eyes as I reach out to drag the vast stone cover from before me, retracing steps they once learned in life or else writhing from base memories of a different kind. A select few of them I recognise, their features etched into my being, bound to me or my holdings until such a time as I deem otherwise. Others I might recall once I have woken properly. Most of them are as faceless to me as the dead in my dreams and just as immaterial." Dark Awakening, Ch. 1 Bringing The Ancient One to un-life You might recognise several of the parts used to convert The Ancient One and his mount. Much like his experiments, this vampire's model is made from a variety of different sculpts. At its base is the Tomb Kings Hierophant from the classic Casket of Souls set. There's a Spirit Host arm, an arm from the Warcry Beasts kit, several skulls from the Mortis Engine set, and a Terrorgheist with a Troglodon's head, which to my mind is super serpentine and draconic. The rest is Greenstuff. (Curious? Check out some WIP shots.) I think my favourite part is his gnarly expression, which I feel really captures the essence of the Necrarchs and the classic Vampire Counts artwork that has so inspired me. I hope you like him as much as I do. If so, I'd love to hear about it. Related read: Sunday Spotlight: The Acolytes Five Instagram: @brotherhoodofnecros-

Edited to add: The Skryre Acolyte throwing arms are from Flesh Eater Courts Ghouls. All waiting on dryer weather for priming. Looking forward to painting these! They will be fun-fun!

Hey there! I am starting a new army and since this will be a conversion heavy project I thought I could make a blog to share it. Hope you find it interesting! We could call this army "scourge privateers re-imagined", or Realm Ravagers as I am calling them. An elf-pirate army based on corsairs and 40k dark-elf aesthetics… heroes, infantry, sea monsters, sailboats all still to come! Let me start sharing the first heroes I am working on.

One great thing about gw kits is the little character full animal sidekicks/ scenery bits that come in them. They're great for making servitors or daemon familiars out of and they all look pretty great so i was hoping tga could come together and compile a list of all the little dudes and which kits they can be found in.

conversion Engineer and Volley Gun kitbash: Gunther the mad and Die Grosse Kanone
Lightbox posted a blog entry in Project Lightbox
So I've had a -lot- of fun today, building up myself an engineer and a volley gun for my freeguild!! Any fans of the monster hunter franchise will notice that gunther's long rifle is actually a gunlance! Complete with stabby bayonet and a scope for the range finding optics. I'm quite happy with this guy, he looks truly mad and ecstatic with his big guns! And next we have the volley gun! Known as Die Grosse Kanone (the big cannon in german) this is gunther's personal volley gun he built himself and as such is ramshackle and full of love (and gunpowder) The big gun will also get an eccentric crew built for it soon too so look forward to that! I might add some more components onto the gun too. Like a big crank on the back! -
While the veteran first company of the Rereksfjiord proudly bears thier ancient arkanaut armour, the second has embraced the newer uniforms and equipment commonly seen by the greater sky-ports arkanaut companies. While working for the same employer, the arkanauts of the Rereksfjiord company competes fiercly to outdo each other on missions. This is by the orders of thier captains, Toddrich of the first company and his younger brother Borvick of the second, whom are both sons to thier companys owner Geilda Rereksfjiord. The brothers both whishes to impress thier mother so one of them can become the companys next owner. After the kitbashed first arkanaut company the next was mainly built from GWs official kit. The only bit from another kit is the head of captain Borvick which is a spare from the gyrobomber.

Colossal Cave Squig (WIP)
Bishmeister posted a blog entry in Bishmeister's Forest Moonclan Grot Army Blog
I've always loved the Forge World Colossal Squig model and it seems to me to be an absolute must for the Moonclan Grot Squig army. After building the model I felt it seemed a little bland and it didn't seem to fit with the hectic rabble that I envisioned Moonclan Grots to be. I like the idea of the crazy grots eating too many mushrooms and trying to out do each other in dangerous shows of bravado. I also find it difficult not to kitbash/convert models to individualise them to my army, so I set about adding on some bits and pieces. The old metal Fanatic models are perfect for adding a bit of humour and momentum to any squig. I also added some grots from many different decades as a bit of a homage to the Moonclan Grot/ Night Goblin range. With the addition of lots of chains & balls and chains I was slowly building a narrative that hinted at the method of controlling and directing the movement of the Colossal Squig. Total weight of the model so far is 368g, a true heavyweight Squig. and with base coat, washes and some highlights on the Squig itself. This is a real challenge to paint albeit very enjoyable. A very old fanatic model becomes the proverbial carrot on a stick. Some work on the base. The idea is that the Squig has just landed on a massive mushroom and has broken it, I had planned to have a grot fishing sitting on the mushroom being catapulted in the air but not sure now. I also wanted the base to be very robust to support the weight of the Squig. The Squig, mushroom and base are all pinned with coat hanger wire. This is currently where the model is at, plenty of work left to do. I will upate this post as progress happens. Thanks for looking.- 7 comments
