About Me

  1. I played a battle tonight using my Narrative Battleplan "Stuff of Legends". We rolled up about the most boring thing we could have, so I'll have to do a little work to make sure that things aren't boring, but even so it was a pretty fun battle. On the Victory Conditions table, we rolled up "Monument" for the Objective, which is what made it a bit dull. I had Flesh-eater Courts and got "Command" for my motivation while my brother brought Beastmen and appropriately got "Ruin". We brough artefacts and since I picked the Cursed Book, I decided that my heroes had read the book and were trying to use the Dark Magic TM of Dreadstone Blight to reanimate Uncle Ivan's deceased wife, the Ghoul Queen. We also picked the Ashlands Time of War from Godbeasts. Fortunately, my local game store has a nice selection of battlemats, so we were fighting over LAVA! I was glad we chose a large central objective because it helped break up the big battle in the middle that would have otherwise ensued. We ended up having a Bullgor fight on one side of the Dreadstone Blight, and a Bestigor fight on the other side. Uncle Ivan is on the Terrorgeist, commanding the Dreadstone Blight. Rurkar Festigor (Beastlord) is on the other side smashing the building to pieces. The Bestigors were determined to bring the tower down. Sadly, in the end, the Brayherds were completely tabled. We ended with 5 Victory Dice for the Flesh-eater Courts and 4 for the Brayherds. After rolling, Uncle Ivan managed to resurrect his dead wife, for whom I will now have to find a suitable model. The Bestigors after they met Crypt Horrors (also got Death Shrieked by a Terrorgeist). I look forward to trying out the battleplan again. The most cinematic moment the battleplan created was on the first turn when I offered my brother a Victory Dice to sacrifice Skreet the Warlock Engineer to the Pyroclasm (it's an Ashstorm thing). The reason Skreet is not pictured is because it killed him poor little rat. However, I think that the low number of available Victory Dice applied downward pressure on our level of interest in awarding them to eachother.
  2. Hello, I am getting ready to re-base my Beastmen and was wondering what I should use in terms of base sizes. From what I was able to figure out it seems like Ungors best on 25mm round while everything else that was previously on a 25mm square is now best on 32mm round. So characters, Gors, & Bestigors. So mostly wondering now what the Doombull and Bullgors should be based on? 40mm or 50mm round? Also would it be a Oval 120mm x 92mm for the Ghorgon and Jabbersythe? As I assume this is the most common base to re-base anything that was previously on the square chariot base? Any guidance would be great; thanks! -Wes
  3. Hello All, Im an oldtime wargamer who has been playing wargames with WHFB starting 6th edition (not really that old to some people i guessed). Stopped playing around mid of 8th edition because of work and playing other game system. I have a huge collection of Tomb Kings (that i found out recently AXED!), medium collection of Dwarfs, and quite small collection of Beastmen. Lets ignore the other two as this is Chaos forum. So i have been reintroduced to fantasy or Age of Sigmar from a friend and gladly took the plunge again. I love beastmen models so this is why I decided to start AoS with Beastmen. I did my homework with the rules, youtube bat reps, and rebased all of my beastmen. Eager to play some fantasy battle again. So my first game was against the said friend with horde of skaven (1000 pts). His list is all about rats (100 of them actually) and BSBs so he had inspiring presence to all of the units. I never planned to win the game, in fact fully expecting a lost as it was my first game of AoS. Learned some stuff like never forget command abilities and grinded through about 60 clanrats, I found AoS is in fact quite balanced. Although I received minor defeat, it was still a fun game which i didnt care losing. The opposite was what i found with my second game. Against 1000 pts tomb king list below : Tomb King Liche Priest 10 Skellies X 2 unit 5 Tomb Guard 3 Sepulcher Necrosphinx Mine was : Doombull Malagor, dark omen 30 Gors 20 Bestigors 20 Ungor Raiders Tuskgor Chariot So he won the roll and gave me first turn. I ran everyone forward. His turn, all he did is move skellies slowly and full speed ahead with sphinx. Charged with sphinx to Bestigors (easy with the two highest dice from three rolled) and DECIMATED the unit (total 11 wounds). Retaliated with 7 bestigors and only did 1 wound (halving wounds rules from sphinx). The unit vanished because battleshock test (i rolled 6). Ok, this devastated me even more rather than the bestigor unit... Ok, as wargamer expert, I tried to get a hold of myself and continue with what i had. I planned to shoot all arrows at sphinx with ungor raiders and roll two more direct damage spells from malagor. Should do a few more wounds that would weaken the sphinx. Rolled the initiative round and he won so double turn for him. Sphinx flew to malagor, charged, and decapitated him..... Third turn, Sphinx helped skellies in combat with gors. Thats it... Im devastated and found the game was not fun... Okay i learned that AoS is so much monsterhammer and herohammer the hard way. In WHFB, you get ranks and combat resolution. AoS only battleshock from wounds. You either bring your own monster/artilleries or be in the receiving end of a monster. Okay im better after telling my devastating defeat and would like some suggestion for good monsters of chaos / anti monsters unit. Ghorgons may be the best but would like to have other opinions too. What do you think is best to grow my beastmen army? P.S. Last experience really encouraged me to play tomb kings again with two necrosphinxes because not a lot who really have two sphinx as they are no longer available from GW. At least my last opponent dont have two. <evil grin>

    Brayherd 1000P

Hi, i´m attending a small tournament soon and i need some input for an army list. It´s a fun tournament (without lists like discussed lately in this section) and i don´t expect to win, but i want to be a decent opponent My list: Leaders: - Gorthor - Bray Shaman - Wargor Standard Bearer Units: - 30 Gors (Gor Blades) - 20 Bestigors - 20 Ungors (Spears) Exactly 1000 P I like the body count and with the buffs from Gorthor, BSB and anarchy from the Gors i have lots of attacks, which should deal some damage. The army is really fast with the 3" from the Bray Shaman and the run and charge from the 3 Units. I think, i will struggle with high armour armies, because i have no mortal wounds (Gorthor has some) und no -2 Rend. As stated above, i don´t expect to win (don´t know if it´s possible with Brayherds and my bad dice luck), but 1-2 minor victories/draws would be fine. I actually don´t know, if the compendium is allowed, so perhaps i can´t use Gorthor and Wargor Bearer. if this is the case, i really don´t know any good concept. Normally i play with some Behemonth and monsters like Dragon Oger Shaggoth, Ghorghon and/or Chaos Trolls, but i´m not shure, they are worth their points. I like the models, but they have bad armour saves and die relativly fast because they are always in the focus. I have, besides the units above, the following: - Shaman - 2 Beastlords - 10 Ungor Raiders - Giant - Ghorghon - 1 more Chariot - 5 Centigors - Dragon Oger Shaggoth - 3 Chaos trolls - 10 Chaos hounds - 3 Chaos Ogers - Some more Gors (hardly 10) So, if somebody has some better ideas (without buying more models) and/or an idea for an army without Gorthor&Standard Bearer, i´m listening
  5. The Brayherd was unleashed again today in my quest to cast the stores of my city into the Realm of Chaos. Game 1 saw us take down a force of Ironjawz, Game 2 saw us smashed as we tried to Breakthrough and Ogor blockade! While I was at the shop I snuck off to their Malifaux table and took some glamour shots of those gentlest of Beastmen! The Ungor, led by the Pigman of the Southern Sootlands The Pigman is still said to be a myth, but those whom live in the Sootlands would challenge that claim fiercely. No sow is safe in those parts. The Blessed, led by Vorok Spawndestined Those Gor whom are high (or low) in favour! The Tuskgor Chariot Knightshatterer In one of his first outings he flank charged a unit of Chaos Knights. I boldly declared they were all going to die - and they did. The Tuskgor Chariot Rotcart For when the machinations of the Grandfather must be pushed forward! The Great Bray Shaman Slugtongue His form may be dust along with the Old World, but his carrion soul lives on. Playing a part in every famine from here to Ulgu. Much like his picture, he comes and goes with the locust he bears. Beastlord Kaamagruul himself on foot. Alternatively, I pretend Gorthor the Beastlord is him ^.^ It is said that occasionally the soul of a great Beastmen hero possesses those worthy. Beastlord Kaamagruul has been seeing barreling into battle astride a great skull mounted chariot, sending blasts of dark energy ahead of him.
  6. I wasn't planning on adding any more Gor to this army - but when I saw these 40 on sale at a super-bargain price, I couldn't resist. I normally buy second-hand models to strip/respray them, but these were surprisingly well done. Mostly base coats and a bit of wash, but all neat and well-applied. It just needed some more washing, new round bases and the details added. The last thing was the banner - freehand isn't my strength, and I think my 'gor horns' look more like a love heart. So that's 40 Gor ready to go - let's see those Anarchy & Mayhem rolls!
  7. The Shadowgrave, Master of Skulls, The Corrupter, Semi-Finalist in Strictly Come Dancing ... he has many titles. I've now finished painting my Morghur conversion (and now I'm really tempted to rumoured Alarielle, since the Wood Elf Queen was his arch-nemesis in the Old World). Unlike the usual blood-spattered snow, I used some Typhus Corrosion to represent the corruption seeping out of him. Another unit coming up soon! (if anyone's wondering how I'm managing to bang them out so fast, I've have a number of projects at 80-90% completion for a while, and I'm now having to rush them to readiness for a weekend of gaming)
  8. WIP report this time - I wanted to add Morghur, Master of Skulls to the brayherd, but I wasn't keen on the metal model. This is what I managed with a few spare bits and some greenstuff: And since the reason to take Morghur is so he can mutate your own troops into Chaos Spawn, I had a go at slapping some of them together too.
  9. Time to bulk out the Chaos monsters with some expendable infantry. I do like these Gor sculpts - it's nice to have them displayed on rounds, rather than lost in a horde formation. They look formidable, but I reckon I'll need more of them, with a few brayherd characters, if I want to unlock their potential.
  10. About a year ago i bought a small job lot of Beastmen on eBay. Nothing major and nothing new, just some old models really. I specifically wanted it for the 8 metal PestiGor. These models are pretty old now but are from a time when Beastmen were originally given Marks of Chaos. The models are twisted by Nurgle and all pestilence, cloaked, hooded and wielding double handed axes. I'm really excited to paint these though and doing these as a small warband, not even a full unit in AoS, means I can spend some time working with them and expand as I can find more on eBay.
  11. So I'm playing my first game this Saturday and obviously that means writing a list. My end goal is to have a unit I can just add to my AoS games I'm looking for about 10 models total. As uploaded in other posts I'm using the PestiGor models which came out in 2003. these are mostly mono-pose with only a couple of sculpts. I own 5 PestiGor & the command models. In Mordheim I will be using the Champion model as my Beastman Chief, Musician as my Sorcerer and will paint the standard to match for the unit in AoS. I'm then using the Pestigor as a unit of Gor initially & an old Minotaur and Centigor for some fun in the game. In theory these will also just be part of the unit for AoS as it will give the unit some more variety if a slightly too large footprint. So, because Mordheim is more story driven than its older friend Warhammer Fantasy, here is my Warband so far... Beastman Brayherd Chief & Unit Champion BorGor Han-An Beastman Brayherd Sorcerer and Unit Musician Hatat Nan Beastman Brayherd Centigor & Unit Filler Urootman Kas More to come soon, please post comments, questions or just general internet advice(abuse) - tomlandy
  12. A Mordheim warband is pretty simple to put together and because I have this small number of models that I'm not modifying it really makes my choice easy... Chief, Sorcerer(using the musician from the unit) 5 PestiGor and a Centigor. Not much to paint and nothing to modify. The biggest issue I've had was to stick them to round bases, which was pretty easy! Priming with Rust-Oleum Surface Primer Matt Grey I'm specifically going to base these the same as my Skaven I brought to SCGT 2016 Basing with Cork & Vallejo Black Lava
