  1. Whilst narrative works well for it id definitely like them to keep an easy points conversion to make using them in path to glory and points based games easier, kind of like how they are currently.
  2. I'd like to see a mount option with a built in ranged attack instead of say the maw attack so that we can make things like steamtanks or ironblaster riding ogors or sharks with freaking laser beams. I know we can just take a bow on the hero but it feels so awkward with having a mount weapon being treated as their weapon and not a mount weapon for interaction purposes. Also it means we can't have an angry freeguild general leaning out of his Rhino mounted howitzer shooting a dinky pistol. I'd also like to see more 'fun rules' options for hero's, instead of just getting super basic stuff like better stats or mortals on x roll it would be nice to see more stuff like the legion of blood did with 'transform into a dire wolf or angry bat and feel like a pissed off D&D druid' or something like how kharadron endrinriggers (and most skaven) get the 'chance of a power boost but on a 1 you go owchie'. Stuff like that feels more fun than just 'make number better'. Also more support hero options. What's the point of giving yourself the totem keyword when most books straight up don't care about it, more totem shenanigans other than just 'better banner' would be cool. Maybe if you take the totem upgrade you can take an upgrade to let units fully within 12 inches heal 1 wound in the hero phase or something?
  3. I haven't so much started a newww army though I guess my slaanesh could count as I only had like 2 of the models built for it prior to this year 😅 Otherwise I've been making a renewed effort to work on my Idolator slaves to darkness and hopefully will ready them for some games soon. I am debating a new project for once I'm done with my chaos, I have my eyes on potentially either a shark based idoneth project or maybe ogors... for that I'm considering either sea monster & pirate themed or cathay esque terracotta ogor soldiers with troops riding on the backs of them. But I'm sure whatever I land on will be something ridiculous
  4. I am still upset that only the humans get cool lady legendary lords (even slaanesh's is just straight up male coded in design) but one of those turns into a dragon so I'm very happy about that. Looking forward to the different armies to fight though Got bored of elves in 2 and im also stoked to see how the demon prince can be customised!! Also looking forward to eventual dlc lords... Valkia when?
  5. I often start army projects these days with just doing fun conversion projects along a theme (like my recent ice and fire gunpowder Aelves) and then attempting to just slap them in a list together and hope for the best. It definitely makes for armies that I enjoy and get more enthusiastic for. I think your rule of cool idea with your skaven will be great fun
  6. I feel its also missing an iconic chaos dwarf silly hat.
  7. So I discovered today that myrmidesh arms work really well on hellstriders. Gives them a nice knightly feel imo.
  8. Yeah having looked over the lord of pains warscroll again he does seem like a decent hero for 1k, being somewhat survivable and having a nice little command ability buff. And with him unlocking the battleline twinsouls I can see why you went with it. How swingy did you find sigvald and the slickblades? My main concern, especially with the slickblades, is whiffing in combat a lot and then getting curbstomped by whoever I charged. I presume the reasoning behind sending Siggy and the slicks into combat together was to help mitigate that?
  9. So I'm toying with a 1k point list to dip my feet into finally trying out Slaanesh, and I'm thinking that the following might be good to give me a bit of speed to get objectives and at least some punch. Though It is low on models and there's nothing to really be all that tough. Any suggestions on how this might fare? Allegiance: Slaanesh- Grand Strategy: Sever the Head- Triumphs:Shardspeaker of Slaanesh (150)- GeneralSigvald, Prince of Slaanesh (265)11 x Blissbarb Archers (170)5 x Hellstriders with Claw-spears (135)5 x Slickblade Seekers (230)Total: 950 / 1000Reinforced Units: 0 / 2Allies: 0 / 200Wounds: 52Drops: 5
  10. I saw some interesting conversions on google images of twinsouls made from the warcry khainite shadowstalkers with twinsoul heads. Seemed to work quite well. I've also been doing some painbringer conversions using howling banshee bodies because I wanted to try doing a sort of chaos valkyrie unit (each one has a single tyranid gargoyle wing coming off their backs too for that motif)
  11. Considering Ossiarch just got a white dwarf bandaid I would more likely expect to see FeC if there's a death one. Gloomspite would be a great update for destruction, they've been in a rough place for quite some time so would be nice to see them get a bit more modern at least. I'm suspecting summers tomes will likely be Khorne (they've been needing an update for a while) and maybe Sylvaneth for order? For the new Alarielle and Pipe player rules, though I can't remember if they already got a tome with those in.
  12. I'm so happy for you @HollowHills and so proud of you for being able to accept and understand who you are ❤️ I came out as a trans woman myself in 2021 so I understand how scary and difficult the process of being an egg can be. Im also really proud of you for recognising and apologising for your internalised transphobia and toxicity, that can be an incredibly difficult thing to do but is such an important step in growing. I wish you all the best in your transitioning journey and hope that your idoneth will slay all their foes in the future!
  13. A ranged unit?? In death??? With likely more than 9" range???? Preposterous...
  14. So the new DoK lady looks pretty cool. But I don't feel like yet another regular aelf foot hero was what they needed... (all khinerae army when?) New nighthaunt Librarian is also kinda rad. Hopefully battletomes will be announced at some point.
  15. I'm expecting warcry teasers, hopefully announce the spiderverse and conans darkoath warbands to get their own boxes outside of the starter. Suspect we will get another chaos cultist warcry band as thar seems to be the theme, or some new monsters to go with them. Hoping tome wise we get dates on deepkin/idoneth and some telling on the next tomes (nighthaunt hopefully then after that I feel khorne could use a new tome) And for my pure hope filled answer a slaves to darkness book or supplement that makes idolators amazing and gives us new super chariots or variant chariots or just make the idolator Lord their own character and let all StD take them... give me the chaos chariot meta damnit! Also I want more lady models released because I need them for conversion purposes and to just generally make my armies more mixed. (Lady freeguild when?)
  16. I don't generally enjoy painting, or at least I don't enjoy painting armies as I really lack the attention span for it, especially at the moment where my focus is worse than it used to be. However I do enjoy painting whilst I do it for the most part, it's a complex one for many reasons. I really enjoy having a painted army, It's a rarity for me but when I have one I enjoy playing with them so much more and feel proud of them. I like being able to flex my creativity and just go wild with what I want to do letting me create unique and personal projects that I am proud of. It's also the same reason I really enjoy conversion projects in armies. It's a really accessible way for me to interact with my artistic side and have things I can show off at the end too.
  17. So I thought it would be nice to have a little thread for people to share the cool lore or models for the heroes who lead their armies in their games of AoS. Whether you have entire books of lore or even just a name and favourite moustache wax brand for the heroes feel free to write about them here and let others appreciate and be inspired by the work put into them!
  18. I think that's because we've not really had much new release since the edition dropped. We've had maggotkin but it feels a touch like that passed by without much fanfair (probably because no new models) and we've had no other real releases shown besides the boxset of two armies which had heroes that visually looked similar to ones those ranges already had. With no real news at the moment for AoS we've had very little to be hyped about whilst 40k news has been dominating over warhammer community with various codexes and new models being teased / shown.
  19. So I decided to do a small story to start fleshing out some ideas for my Ashen City characters, I feel that since chaos is always represented as hate filled people who abandoned their humanity that it would be quite fun to try and explore those that couldn't quite fully abandon everything that made them then, to explore how they deal with repressing that tug of it. I figured it would make for better protagonists to not be completely devoid of humanity and emotions. This is very much a first draft and subject to change. At the end of the day chaos is still a collection of people, and especially an empire couldn't just run itself on greed hatred and strife alone. Maeve stared at the mirror, she could see her reflection staring back at her bearing the same fair skin, short black bob of hair and athletic frame. The reflection even wore her clothes and mirrored her movements as one might expect but it was the red eyes instead of her usual amber that drew her gaze coupled with the wicked smirk the reflection bore even as Maeve herself frowned. She should have been used to seeing this but it always made her heart sank when she was force to remember that her mind and body were not fully her own and hadn't been for longer than she could remember. The daemon inside laughed silently at her from the mirror, taunting her as it often enjoyed doing. Maeve's vision turned red, with a yell she unsheathed one of the many daggers hidden in her dress and hurled it at the mirror, the crackling red crystal blade shattering the glass on impact. "Is everything alright in there your highness?" came the deep voice of one of her door guards. "Send a raven to the fighting pits, tell them to ready their best fighter. I need to kill something." Maeve yelled back. She took a deep breath, composing herself before beginning to head to her personal armoury, rage and bloodshed should sate the daemon for now and at the very least a good fight always helped her feel alive. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Maeve ran a bloody hand through her hair, smoothing it back as she leant against the wall. She couldn't keep the grin from her face, her heart was still racing from the match but as alive as it made her feel she couldn't quite quell the sadness in the back of her head, the lamentations for the loss of her humanity. She wondered why she still felt this way, she was so sure that most of the warriors within her empire had long since abandoned their hearts without regret but for her she could never quite let go of those feelings no matter how blessed she felt by the gods and no matter how many empires she burned to the ground. The door creaked open and Maeve looked over to see a large armoured woman enter, spiked of red crystal jutted out from her armour accompanied by a large horn of the same substance implanted into her. The woman gave a nod to Maeve and moved to sit next to her. "I saw the fight." the woman said, her voice rough and deep far unlike the softer more pleasing tones that Maeve would speak in though this woman was a fighter rather than Orator. "You scared the ****** out of some of the new bloods when you disembowelled the guy, they're gonna need to toughen up if they ever want to see real combat." Maeve gave a grin to the woman, nudging her with her shoulder "That it? No 'well done Maeve you're the quickest blade I've ever seen', just 'recruits these days are soft'" she joked, mocking the other womans gruffer tones. The horned woman just frowned at her, if anyone else spoke to her like that she'd have ripped their arms off and beat them to death with them but she had history with Maeve, the closest thing she had to a friend. She knew full well how much of a weakness it was to care for another, especially one who could resurface the humanity she buried long ago but she also couldn't do without the woman, she found the reigniting of emotions to be almost addictive. "Adira..." Maeve began, voice faltering slightly as she looked toward the other woman "I saw her again... the Daemon." she said, voice a mixture of worry and anger "It's getting more frequent, the ****** really wants control." Adira simply looked at Maeve and shrugged "You'll just have to keep fighting it." she paused, sighing a little "If it takes control I'll kick its teeth in till you're you again... you know that." her voice quieting a little, as if part of her was ashamed with wanting to help someone "Just... don't let anyone else know you're like this." she said, almost scolding in her tone "You'll look weak and then there'll be a coup. And I guess.... I'd rather not see you killed by some muscle headed upstart who doesn't know how to run an empire." Maeve gave a soft smile to the woman "Thanks..." she said quietly as Adira simply gave a grunt in response and began to move off. She sat in contemplation for a few more moments, she had to keep up the persona of the Emberqueen, the fierce and unshakeable leader both charismatic and brutal enough to rule. If anyone besides Adira knew about her doubts, about her weaknesses she'd likely have a knife in the back and watch all she had built turn to ashes. She'd come too far and sacrificed too much to lose it all now and she wasn't going to let anything stand in her way.
  20. No conversion needed really, he looks great. Definitely feels like a painful wait for anything else AoS related, especially when we don't really know if there's going to be any additions to those armies besides just a tome. Hopefully we'll all get something to feel excited about soon.
  21. The hobby as a whole is pretty fun for me, models prices are high sure but once I have an army built or a unit built etc it's not like I suddenly have to buy it all over again (if we want to talk about expensive hobbies let me redirect you to the various trading card games I play... at least GW models feel a bit better for value) When I buy warhammer kits I'm buying something that is going to last pretty much for as long as I play, I don't have to buy new armies or new models all the time (I mean I do but that's my own poor choices 😅) if I was a tournament player though who constantly went out and bought whatever spammable new hotness was a thing then yeah, my wallet would feel it a lot more. But generally everything seems to be going up in price thanks to the wonders of inflation... and whilst I'm on the topic of costs when I look at how much things like my makeup often adds up to I honestly feel like GW kits are maybe not as bad as I used to think... but that's because for me a model kit has a lot of personal value. Plus there are a lot of great 3rd party sites to get kits cheaper if I feel strapped for cash. And also 3rd party models, because I play in a casual club environment where people don't mind so much. Power level increase feels like such an odd topic because we've got years of experience that actually no, each new release is not better than the last. Is a modern book better than an old one that was bad even when it came out? Sure but that's kind of to be expected, I remember when the meta used to be that a single book would rule for like a solid YEAR or two, that hasn't quite been the case in a long while and many books still come out that feel more balanced along the ideal middle ranges (Soulblight for example) As for rules in lots of books... it's a pain but for the most part I've only really noticed it with extra allegiances or single warscrolls (which you can always find online) besides Lumineth but they (so far) have been an outlier in terms of book longevity and caused quite a ruckus so hopefully will be the last where that happens. FAQ's are FAQ's, by this point we know they generally won't rock the boat and exist to tidy up rules interactions and such. Some people still seem to expect them to be a whole new book though which is weird... I'm also heavily against only being able to use small parts of a battletome because so much has been FAQ'd, it stops it being accessible to new players. FOMO is also an odd one, and for me not something I've felt to be honest. Sure I may lose out on the occasional foot hero who is... okay but doesn't rock the boat. But I can always kitbash or get it secondhand, usually I don't need a battlebox because if I play that army I ususally have those units. I also don't mind warhammer day models because they're just alternate sculpts of existing units so no fomo there. Cursed city is a completely different issue which was fairly unprecedented and Is now finally being rectified. I wanted cursed city but didn't get it because I couldn't afford it at the time, I just accepted that and moved on with my life. I will also agree with earlier sentiments that this post seems worded in a very provocative way and does feel clickbaity. I personally don't feel that it's the best way to foster a discussion? I feel neutrality would be better so people's opinions are their own and not influenced by deliberately influential/provocative terms and descriptions. It's like the difference between asking someone "Do you think freddos cost too much?" and "How could you accept the terrible price increase on Freddos?" one is just asking an opinion, the other is making someone look and feel like a bad person for being okay with it.
  22. Probably a fairly cheap way to build a fyreslayer army too, especially if you know anyone wanting thrall heavy idoneth.
