  1. Flamespire pheonix is allowed to do it.
  2. Harridans and Glaivewraiths are both units I quite like the look of and want to use... orz And so it shall be that I lightbox shall endeavour to make everyones least favourite units work in my lists and lead my army of spooky-boi underdogs! I mean they may be worse but glaivewraiths certainly don't look unplayable which is nice Haven't seen profile for harridans yet though. But my local club is mostly casual as opposed to competetive (not to say that some people don't build tough lists) so will be interesting to see how they do Though I do plan to pick up a unit of bladegheists too because I love the look of them!!
  3. I plan to use them to keep charging and retreating with their drum and otherwise supporting my other units. They're fairly cheap so not bad to fill gaps and I do quite like the models. Probably good to swat horde units down whereas bladegheists will likely be better vs elite stuff (haven't seen bladegheist profile alas) Other than that it's only 60 for a unit of 4 so super cheap if you need a unit to sit back on objectives or just appear and nab something.
  4. As someone who had his crew targeted by nasty gemenids yes the crew can still be targeted separately... here's hoping they combine them sometime like they did for the stormcast ballista! Also the gunmaster might be a better engineer as he's cheaper and has a 30" range gun which is nice for potshots. Organ guns and cannons are good choices though and if you'd prefer the cogsmith because he's dwarven then that will be fine. Although the crew can be targeted they can generally outrange most opponents and as long as you've got your dispossessed distracting your foe and getting themselves targeted your guns should have plenty of change to blow things up. Just remember to stick them on hills so you can't have opponents complain about line of sight!
  5. So I had my game versus the evil elves! I managed to grab myself a win in turns 4 and 5 by sneaking onto the objective! We both made some fairly big mistakes but that happens sometimes. The open war twist of splitting your army into 3 contingents and bringing one on each turn actually hurt me a bit but also made it a tad harder for him. My badly built list did do quite well and hopefully I should have a batrep up soon! My volley gun managed to jam 3 turns in a row on 2 dice each time... so it never got a chance to fire. I only took it because I forgot my lord ordinator model Steam tank was... interesting. Bit hit and miss but actually did a fair chunk of damage and more steam! is a wonderful ability, especially when he only took 2 wounds before the final turn so couldn't fail The rocket battery was a nice threat too but I definitely didn't have enough bodies on the board. Endless spells are also insane, risky and slightly terrifying (****** the geminids...) and actually put me in a position where I had to choose between risking wounds and debuffs from them or having my lines charged and my enemy being where I didn't want them. The freeguild griffon was once again worth his weight in gold, I really like him in my ironweld lists to give me that mobile cqb threat. I definitely reckon cannons with a gunmaster or rocket batteries (potentially with a lord ordinator for 3 attacks hitting on 3's) is the way to go for me, volley gun definitely doesn't work without an engineer and is probably only really worth bringing out vs hordes. Steamtank is interesting but will likely really need hit buffs from things like the lord ordinator as he's a bit unreliable. I'll have to check out more endless spells to to see what ones might work well.
  6. Rockets made from the rocker launcher from the 40k taurox and some shells from the ogryn set. Wheels are from anvil. Body is made up of plasticard that comes shaped like girders. Rods were metal ones coated in plastic (like extremely rigid wires, weirdly)
  7. Newest mad conversion is my helstorm rocket battery, it's only little but it's come out pretty nice!
  8. Hmmm you make a point... I might do that but I'm also curious to see how the ordinator will function with just the +1 to hit. Sure it's 140 points but the hit bonus on some units is really helpful! I'd suspect it to be extra terrifying on rocket batteries, make them scarily accurate since you won't be needing the engineer. My thoughts are if you're gonna be relying on your artillery you definitely wanna make them reliable! Though probably not the best use of points for a competetive game. In theory if just looking for the +1 a hurricanum may prove better since it's adding it to everyone at a longer range and gives you spells and shots, but also a very hefty price tag unless you're really gonna benefit from that +1 aura and extra magic stuffs. Though for just cannons a gunmaster giving you those rerolls is all you'll likely need to cause fear and damage in your enemy. I can still see him being of benefit to rocket batteries though. I'm gonna aim my list for guns to blast my foe apart, a wall to keep the enemy off them and some fast movers to grab objectives or flank. I'll have to decide whether I want lots of small guard units or to take handgunners and the like alongside my cannons to fill the board with shots but have trouble when I get in close and hope I'll have caused enough damage before that happens.
  9. I need to make a list for wednesday but it will be hard to fight through the tears of no double shooting cannons... Will probably still keep an ordinator for chasing my tank across the field for that +1 to hit. Thinking tank, 2 cannons and a volley gun! (Unless I can find a 3rd cannon but at 1500 points it's a lot!) And taking guard for walls or archers for movement and maybe grab some demigryphs and a griffon for some running around to grab objectives. Will need some thinking as I'll be fighting mixed elves, likely with a frostheart pheonix.
  10. Now that's the kind of ironweld wisdom I like to see!
  11. Rounds feel they would be easier to sit the pieces on terrain and hills etc for the line of sight but it does feel awkward for the models to be on them... or at least the cannons as they aren't very long. Though I suppose we're not gonna be trying to do the 40k thing of placing them on ledges in ruined buildings so it may not actually matter that much Also thanks for the comments on the steam tank guys Just gotta get it finished, start painting it and have it wreak havoc upon my foes in true ironweld fashion!! Gonna take a flick through the new books when I go out to get them in a mo and will see about putting together a quick list for wednesday. And then will need to look at getting new artillery pieces... Currently I have a cannon and volley gun (both of which I need to make crew for) More cannons? Or some hellstorms?
  12. I do like that head for my mad engineer types. Made a mad scientist for mordheim using that head too! Hopefully I'll be able to get some games with ironweld next wednesday and see how they do. Need to get some cannons at some point as well though. Because who doesn't love 160pt cannons? Also they benefit greatly from my lord ordinator. Keen to see how they and my freeguild do in AoS2. And will be having fun with malign sorcery! I do hope there's cool realm of metal stuff in there
  13. More updates! The steamtank is slowly taking shape and becoming the angel of death it's supposed to be.... The wings have worked well I think. Need to stick an engineer in it and cover up the admech symbols. And hope the paintwork makes it look more AoS. The statue on top helps I think. UPDATE: Engineer added
  14. Heheh glad you think so. Got the cannon now, happier with the look also tbh it aesthetically does fit my top heavy volley gun kitbash.
  15. Little unsure about it so far... Gonna have a cannon coming out the head hole. Feels a bit too streamlined I guess? Hard to say.
  16. So I've decided in my infinite insan... err wisdom that I'm going to make the armiger steam tank. I'm planning on taking the top half of the armiger and putting it onto a rickety wooden cart of some sort (possibly something like that marienburg landship perhaps?) I just have to work out how to make that chassis... Possibly lots of popsicle sticks? Or something else cheap and insane. About to pop into gw so will check what cheap(ish) products could work. Possibly something like the skaven catapault for the base of the chassis with lots of random extras added on. **UPDATE** Picked up some armigers and the galvanic servohauler kit. Time to make some mad realm of metal ironweld arsenal ******! Also just realised my regular aztec / conquistador theme for my freeguild totally works for realm of metal even with sandy bases. They're looking for a city of pure aethergold or something. Nothing says everything in the realm is metal so sandy bases still work. Can just start adding in tech gubbins means lots of cool conversion opportunities for ironweld and freeguild alike! Mixing tribal and tech
  17. We'll see what new toys soulblight gets in GhB, I mean for an elite vampire list you likely won't have many units that can benefit from gravesites so that could be that it's less of an issue. I think it's a lot weaker for sure as skeleton hordes and recursion are massive strength for death but new edition could make soulblight more effective, not necessarily at tournament competitive level but at least at pick up games against friends level. Though the fact all those blood knights get +1 attack In legion of blood is a massive boon so we'll have to see whether soulblight does get some nice new stuff. Would be worth playing around with at least and seeing if it can be made to work.
  18. Now I wanmer pick up some armigers and make some wheeled chassis for them...
  19. Just the level of crazy we need here in the ironweld! I'd love to see some cool conversions on those steamtanks.
  20. I think it might be that you have lots of silver and gold around it. A darker colour would get nicer contrast. I so love your paint scheme though, especially the tabard! And thanks, feel free to 'borrow' my Naeve ordinator idea As you can see I couldn't be bothered with the faff of doing bare arms but maybe I will if I ever need a second one or want another crack at it. Good call on the warqueen arms! And you might be right about archers and outriders, guess screens may be less important if it's all about the early turn barrage (also makes line of sight easier, but always gotta make sure you have those hills to sit your guns atop!) I do have a bunch of old bretonnian archers that I could do with an excuse for using Need to check if hold the line requires general like ordinator does. And yeah as you said we're gonna be super hero heavy! But at least those heroes provide a -lot- of good synergies for us unlike some armies heroes (I'm looking at you slaves to darkness and your lack of decent hero buffs outside of the sorc) I'm excited to see what the new realm artifacts might be like or even if generic order ones change (anything to make a lord ordinator more tanky or a friendly freeguild griffon more scary would be great) I'm gonna have to see how well monsters fit in to give us something to run forward and ravage objective zones / draw fire away from my cannons. But could be points heavy, will do some experimenting. (i mostly want an excuse to pick up the FW carmine dragon with the battlemage on it and use the model)
  21. And here is my lord-ordinator conversion! Managed to dig out some good hammerheads from my bits box. Also added a wick to the ammo box to make it a sort of grenade instead simple conversion but it's certainly come out nicely
  22. Woo ironweld! I'm gonna be kicking off my aos2 by converting Naeve into a lord(lady?) Ordinator. Just gotta decide on bare arms or not. Also should get around to painting mad Gunther my engineer with a gunlance. Good shout on soulsnare shackles, I'm personally excited to run the flying swords so i can yell 'unlimited blade works' every time i cast it. Real question is can we find ways to make steam tanks great again? I'll let you know next month when we start our tale of x warlords. I do wonder if the new stormcast chamber troops will make good bodies for us... I'll mostly stick to freeguild personally though for the underdog blokes with big guns theme. Also those cp shenanigans coupled with greywater fastness is gonna be terrifying!
  23. I think an important thing is how will ghb18 change our alleigance abilities? Because that will impact whether soulblight can be decent again. Though blood knights are now 240 points which is great! Still a shame we lost vhargheist battleline... Fell bat battleline would also be nice.
  24. Sooo spent practically my entire day today working on Morathi. Building her and then beginning to paint her! She's certainly shaping up nicely looking forward to seeing her when she's done. I'm a bit unsure on the pink scales but well they'll do! Unless I can find a better colour to add my second drybrush coat with. Drybrushing them wasn't too bad and makes it a faster process!
  25. Is it bad that warhammer legends is kind of making me want to put together a legacy dark elf army? I think it's mostly that sorceress on cold one model, it is a lovely sculpt. Tempted to pick one up and run a dark elf mordheim band sometime so I can use it... even if they are apparently a bit op in mordheim. I quite like the warhammer legends, they didn't have to do it and sure it's making money from people's nostalgia but I think these made to order things are nice. If you dislike them you needn't buy them and tbh we've known since the first GHB really that a lot of the old WHFB wasn't going to be supported in the future. It's a shame but it's something at least. For me at least it's tempting me to look at a small force and do some occasional just for fun old world style narrative games. Though as I only got into the fantasy side through AoS I'm going to have to look up lore sometime. Might be time to wait and see what happens for bretonnians as I already have some of them (and would love some Pegasus knights tbh, such lovely models, though not sure if they'd do made to order for any plastics).
