In what way hard to place, 1" away from terrain and within 1" of each other doesn't seem too complicated to my self but I suppose they are not "place them anywhere".

They do block movement but that can be used as a advantage to us, bottlenecking opponents units or using to block a area off from a big monster. I can't argue they slow the down game as I suppose they do.

They are costly and are a tax on the army money wise, no argument!

Exactly in that way hard. If you play on a table with just a decent amount of terrain you wont be able to place that many woods. I would have liked GW to just make one big Tree of Life. But that is just me.

Out of interest in what way do you think they're too complicated?

I think they are way to hard to place, and if you play them like the rules are written, they can really block movement and slow down game-play and they are expensive in real money. I think GW have done much better with terrain specific buffs and rules in later battletomes.

    Thanks for asking. :)

Another question:   did someone have a painting guide?  i wanna do some snow / winter sheme on my sylvaneth.  grey/blue/ icey sheme.

    Just use a Xerox :)

I sincerely hope that Wyldwoods will change soon. They are far too complicated.

  5. @Henlkhyn

Im currently trying to figure out myself what to get. The  named Heroes are the ones giving me the most headache.

They seem a bit underwhelming, what Im trying to figure out is, if we can run an effective army by just using our smaller heroes.

Using a Harrow as our genral and transporting small units of Grimghast could work.

Battalions are probably not worth the tax.

Grimghasts with support heroes are pretty effective, so go get as many as you can afford. :)

  6. Just played my first game with Nighthaunt. Vanguard size, Knife to the heart against the Devoted of Sigmar.

I actually managed a turn one charge using up a lot of command point to rush forward. Only problem my heroes got left a little behind. That was my first learning point, Nighthaunt heroes need to stay close.

The game turned into a long grind, and in the end I could not remove enough Flagellants to actually reach the objective. That was my second learning point, use flight to move deep into the enemy zone fast.

I very much enjoyed playing Nighthaunt, and I'm looking forward to my next game and expanding the army.

Hey guys, as I'm a simple fella and I kept forgetting things I decided to make my own cheat sheet for Sylvaneth. It should contain all the relevant rules from the battle tome, you can keep / delete units you don't need for your current list. hopefully it helps you forgot less stuff (thought I doubt people are as stupid as me!)

    Sylvaneth cheat sheet.docx

Thanks for the cheat sheet! From someone who is still struggling to remember alle the special rules.

Don't forget that as per the GH, Monsters cannot ever claim +1 save for being in cover anyway.

Sorry to ask this, since Im not part of the event, Im just curious. Where in the GH can I find this?

Nice event Chris, hope to do something similar here in Denmark sometime.

  9. I rage quit about 10 years ago. I have tried to come back a few times, but didnt really like how GW was running things. Havent touched a Fantasy miniature since 6.ed.

When AOS was released, I was tempted, but found the game to simple. A lot has changed since and I find myself reading, painting and if all goes as planned, gaming in the Mortal Realms.
