  1. I can attest this stuff is awesome very well written @Double Misfire
  2. I love the flavor. One thing I would encourage is getting Longbeards in there as well as something that can add some speed.....Gyrocopters come to mind. That way you can contest/take objectives that your other guys will not get too. I like the 30 man blocks for discounts but saving some points by going down will allow you to take the Longbeards which give you more buffs to layer. Also drillmaster is less good unless your are going to the runelord with the Iron Drakes (which should be the first unit you cut to 20 since you don't get a horde discount there) as the Cogsmith gives the Helstorm Rocket Battery rerolls already just for being around. them. I think if you cut all 3 units to 20 that will give you the Longbeards and the Gyrocopters in a 3 man unit exactly. I will tell you from experience I love the Irondrakes but they are sad without a bridge BUT they deter people from coming on a flank with just normal guys so there is a bit of strategy with them. My list is very similar except I broke duardin rank and have a unit of Shadow Warriors as well to go deep into opposing territory. I just use Old Quarrellers with cloaks instead of the dirty elf models.
  3. Also could be a consideration for the Balewind with an incantor and maybe the staff of power as his signature spell with the staff of power is kinda cool to hit all enemies in 24 (more if you use the spell portal) for 2 mortals.
  4. I'm a huge fan of the GC archtype. I like the mix in of SD as well to just be a huge brick. The Concussors are really cool (I don't have any of those type) one advantage of SD though is putting the model with a larger base to cover more ground. I wonder if the LAoT would be something to try out. Hmmm this gets me thinking. Obviously some points would need to be moved around. But could be cool to have a large flying goat....
  5. My limited SCE experience says no as I think if your at the Ordinator stage you should just get at least 3 ballistas. Someone has the math here in these 240 pages that says "No Ordinator until the 3rd Ballista". Then you have a 200pt tax just for the hope of an additional +1 for one Ballista. If you care about math then no. If you love your castigators and want to make a single Ballista feel special then yes.
  6. Alrighty! So got two games in tonight with 2 very different lists. Here we go! Thundercats Ho! LAoD Ordinator Incantor 3x5 Sequitors 6x Evocators on Dracolines 3x Ballistas Geminds Everblaze Staunch Goat LAoT Incantor Ordinator Lord-castellent 20x Sqeuitors 2x5 Sequitors 3x Ballistas Comet Geminids Cogs (No idea why I chose this nothing ever charged it needed the spell). My opponent played the same list twice. We first played relocation orb in Aqushy and then we played Knife in the Dark in chamon. I wanted to try two vastly different lists and boy we're they the polar opposite of each other. Another note is that Ive seen people playing the Stardrake a lot in the Staunch Defender lists but I don't own it plus it was an excuse to run a cool model that had a built in save vs mortal wounds (I know I know the scales are better but I wanted gryph feather as well because I'm greedy and want all the defensive tech). I'm going to summarize quickly here. My opponent was playing Gutbusters and while learning the game he beat me up pretty bad. But these two games tonight we're insane for me. Both lists dropped bows on him in different ways and it was a fight. But I really want to just talk about some things I've learned. - In a world of light mortal wounds Staunch Defender and the Castellent ask an insanely hard question of your opponent. - the Dracolines are a ton of fun and can just crush things. - Celestial Vindicators seemed like the Dracoline stormhost but I think I would want to investigate some other ones or go neutral. - Everblaze comet is insanely strong and does so much for 100pts. If you go second and drop it then it feels like a mini Kroaknado since you get to trigger it again the next battle round. -On that note, the Geminids may still be too cheap. They have such utility and in an army like Staunch Defender SCE it really gets oppressive. - Dracolines having the wizard tag provides so many good little sysnergies with the game itself. Over all was very pleased and can't wait to field them again.
  7. Alrighty! Got a game tonight vs Nurgle GUOs and plaguebearers. So as I've stated before I have mostly Sacrosanct Chamber plus a Celestant Prime and Now a castellant for that sweet sweet Staunch Defender list as needed. I'm sideling the Endless Spells list for now as I want to try more items. But I'm curious as to the group think on some lists to build. So fellow Stormbros what say you on some list ideas to fight said evils of the demon realm
  8. Hmmm Ill have to wait on the heraldor I don't actually have one and will have to special order it. Love the idea of Ballistas! I'm assuming the math is still no Ordinator until 3 Ballistas?. Since I'm stuck in Sacrosanct chamber then 3x 5 Sequitors will have to be the norm. I did have a chance to read a post from you @PJetski a while back about a Cat list so seems pretty sound still.
  9. Alrighty so next game I'm gonna try out the Thundercats. What have people been running I need some suggestions. So far its LAoD and 6x Dracolines. Whats next? What experiences have people had so far. I know we just had the points changes but I think it affected this list less than others aside from the Sequitor change.
  10. I had to bring him in turn 2 to try and clear one of the points and maybe grab it. Alas this failed. I talked through it with the people present and I think I would still have brought him in turn 2 every time in this particular instance.
  11. Ok so got another game in last night with MagicCast. While super fun it is the most swingy thing Ive played in a while. Not sure I want to stick 700 pts all in a basket that could just you know....do nothing. But! Played with Mr. Prime and I agree he is really expensive but man what a fun model! Cool center piece and just hits so hard. Finally got a chance to actually try out Staunch Defender (no latern to super charge) and 20 Sequitors and that was a rock wall. For reference a list: LA 2x Incantor Exorsist Celestant Prime 20x Sequitors 5x Sequitors 5x Sequitors Purple Sun Comet Balewind Dias I was against a Gutbusters list with the man-eater Merc group. Played the new places of arcane power. Didnt realize you needed to stay within 3 inches so that was brain ******. Basically it came down to the fact I didn't get anything but the vortex off for 2 turns then on turn 3 it was to late. I had the prime come in and try and clear off the man-eaters and firebelly and whiffed on 2 of 3 attacks on the firebelly and he scored 2 pts. Then it wasn't until my turn 4 I finally got his butcher off with a random purple sun 6. Final Thoughts from my 3rd game of SCE: - I like endless spells but you sacrifice to much to bring the full boat. - Staunch Defender is a really strong tactic against a lot of stuff though getting eaten by FEC and other high mortal wounds is rough. - I missed my ballistas a lot. Being able to drop in and unleash hell is really strong so gonna try that again. - You NEED some spell casters or something to just randomly dispell. Incantor seems the best at this but if running Sqeuitors having LA and Incantor would be baller - I want more Thundercats in my life......
  12. This looks pretty awesome! Personally I only have Sacrosanct models plus a Celestant Prime so something similar would need to be moved around. The Concussors look really sweet. I may just throw some Evocators in there. I'm playing a game tonight and just love the idea of the Endless Spell Stormcast. Maybe I will throw some Dracolines in there or something. Love the conversation so far on this style of list. I'll throw some battle reports up for you guys as I get more games under my belt.
  13. Sadly I haven't read the new book just yet for the Battleplans as our shipment was delayed...did not know that about battleline. I wonder if going generic Stormhost for Staunch Defender is worth it then to buff those Sequitors? It would be kind of funny to just go some big Sequitor blobs to get objectives and then nuke things? I love the idea of magic SCE since everyone poo poos our magic ability. Would be cool to make them kind of scary and competitive
  14. Maybe I'm not sure? I'm in the make it fun and maybe competitive bracket. It would look cool on the table to have all these swirling endless spells everywhere. I can't speak from experience of playing with or against either of those factions. A friend of mine is going heavy in LoN so I'll have more data to report soon but from a fun factor this feels cool. One thing I would like is trying with the Prime and another scary unit. I don't know what that is yet maybe going down to mins on the battle line and adding in evocators or something else. For me I'm limited to Sacrosanct and the prime (though randomly I have the vanguard guys to do soulstrike brotherhood). So I'm interested to hear your results. The pallisade should be fun since it can help protect your army some.
  15. I like this a bunch. I almost wish cogs where in here as well just to get a ton of spells off. But I like that you put the prime in to drop later on an objective and then maybe charge or just go ham on someone. That 2 MWS seems hilarious.
