  1. Excellent ! Thank you for the rumors ! (I know I already asked on Dakka, but do you have infos on the rumored Wizcast coming with Nighthaunt in the box set ? )
  2. So, our friend @Thebiggesthat said on Dakka Dakka he believes 2018 will see army releases for Nighthaunt, Moonclan (Fungoid Cave-shaman) and (as rumored by other) Slaanesh. Nighthaunt and Slaanesh are IMO almost guaranteed at this point, but I really like the Moonclan bit - I also heard something like that (Moonclan in Fall 2018) somewhere else,, I'll try to look up where. "drbored" also said on Dakka Dakka that he heard : 1. six armies for AOS in 2018, 2. second Idoneth wave (lol) in 2019 (ala SCE Vanguard) with a big Whale, 3. Grotbag Scuttlers in 2019 too. I think the Grotbag Scuttlers (with their names and appearance in BT, White dward and novels) are a really good possibility in 2019 (also pic related).
  3. Frankly, this. It's just what I tried to say in the Warhammer Legends thread, but better formulated. @Sheriff : 1. Nobody "tricked" you into buying anything. 2. Even if it made me giggle, let's stop with the Stormcast paranoia : for DE, GW recommended (logically) Daughters of Khaine or Idoneth Deepkin, nothing else. 3. As @KevenM said, GW didn't "squatted" anything. They gave new rules for DE (yeah, without points for the compendium). But did they even touched Scourge Privateer and the like ? No. So, even if you are playing with the 3 years old Orcs & Goblin compendium (and nobody can prevent you to do that), you can still play Gitmob, Greenskinz and Moonclan. Especially the later, with the rumors and their unique aesthetic, the Grot Scuttlings ans the Fungoid Cave-Shaman, they aren't going anywhere but a very probable future release updated for AOS. Back to the thread topic, I'd be interested to know : WHO IS GOING TO WARHAMMER FEST ? WHO ALREADY HAS THE WEEK END'S PLANNING ? (Just to know when the Preview seminar is scheduled, I guess Saturday evening )
  4. I guess you are right. But GW just released for the third time a full rules update for an outdated army (Dark elves) for an unsupported game (WFB), for free, and people would call it low effort and low time ? That's not fair. GW could just have told us to use our old Dark Elves models as one of the many AOS factions using those models in the current timeline, aka Scourge Privateer and such, who have updated rules (including points) and a very good place in the fluff (notably in the novels and in the Free cities). Instead GW try to be nice to the old guard, and people get angry ? I find this situation a bit unfair... It seems like people don't want to adapt to the new setting. You don't even have to buy a new army (even if GW would like you to), or to really use the new fluff (like Scourge privateer), you just have to use the current rules for those Aelves factions from the current timeline but based on the old DE range. We are in the Age of Sigmar, not on the World-that-was : GW is IMO quite nice to support the WFB people who don't want to play with WFB rules and with AOS fluff (even without point ; the alternative would be to have nothing).
  5. I really like matched play and find it very useful for tournament / organized play, and quite a necessity for easy "pick up" games with strangers. But I also love to play narrative (without points) or "random" with the Open war cards. It's true that it's mainly with friends that I know well that this is possible. I still don't understand why GW didn't republish, at the launch of AOS, or better, at the GHB 2016 release, a reworked version of their old WD articles about "no points" games, from Jervis Johnson and Nigel Stillman for example. It would have shown the possibilies of non point games, and the philosophy of such games, just like they did with the 40k 8th Designer FAQ.
  6. Really, don't be afraid, as @AthlorianStoners said ! GW said it themselves (pic related) The Gutbusters are in the fluff, even the modern one. They'll stay, even if this is a kinda "small" faction. Some special characters from Ogres Kingdoms armybook may get discontinued and reappear in the form of a Made to Order offer, but that's it (for resin models only). The Beastclaw raiders were IMO designed for AOS (I mean the 8th ed part of the OK). They'll stay and maybe even prosper (plastic yeti and tigers !!!). @Verengard and @Kramer it seems there is pretty substantial changes, no "fun" rules, new keywords (no reference to AOS like "Aelf") and IIRC in general more attacks for characters and greater move for monster.
  7. So ! Warhammer Legends is up : https://www.warhammer-community.com/legends/ It's apparently a reworked and updated version of the Legacy compendium but without the "fun" rules. It also acknowledges directly that the AOS core rules may change in the future ! And that "Grand Alliance" factions may end up in Legends as more and more new pure AOS factions are released. I'm fine with that. It's a nice move for AOS-rules-but-with-WFB-fluff-only hobbysits
  8. Skaven are 100% Chaos, in the background, in rules, in AOS, in Mordheim and in WFB. The releases order (lol) for Chaos should be : Slaanesh, Darkoath, Skaven (either a Legions of Nagash style book, or Eshin / Skryre, or both). @Arkiham do you have more info on that book ? We just know it should be more end May / start June than June /July, and that it will probably have an "Etheric Vortexes" scenery line coming with it, alongside Stormcast Wizards and Nighthaunts.
  9. Yes, what @Chikout meant is that we now have a release window for it ! So end may, first half of June You made my day Now we really may see something at Warhammer fest studio preview (12th May) if it is that close ! The two hints about magic and "the portents unfold" at least confirm once more that the new Magic supplement and Malign Portents are linked.
  10. The two factions rumored to get new models and rules between now and June / July are Stormcast Eternals and Nighthaunts. Nighthaunts : They should get at least a new "infantry" unit (the Hangmen ghosts) and a new Black Coach. Probably a new Battletome too to go with that, and maybe more units (Heroes / Monsters) if it is a proper army release (see below). Source : https://www.warhammer-community.com/2018/03/22/breaking-news-major-revealsgw-homepage-post-1/ The Black Coach is in the video. It also was rumored here or on Dakka Dakka a few months ago. The Hangmen is on the Shadespire card. Shadespire models usually comes from Battleline or equivalent infantry units. Stormcast Eternals : The "Wizcasts" also comes from the Shadespire card, whose artwork seems to match this much better one (Soul Wars cover, out July IIRC : which happens to be unreleased Wizard-looking Stormcasts fighting against Nighthaunts) : They were rumored here before Adepticon from, notably, Moonstone and LLV. This short story : https://malignportents.com/story/the-price-of-apotheosis/ also gives a description of a magic-wielding Stormcast with a stave, guarding an anvil and using lightning (see the Shadespire card SCE logo - also the top of the staff and that rumor engine with a Stormcast pauldron with an anvil, and the novel description. The Nighthaunts logo also fits the Knight of Shrouds model base) : Indeed, but all Shadespire models are from baseline units from AOS, so we can reasonably assume that will still be the case here. And of course, I mixed the gheist-caller, who obviously is just necromancer with a magical objet, with the "Chest-ghost", who's able to capture Stormcast souls, from this story : https://malignportents.com/story/lightning-in-a-bottle/ I think it may be a new unit (monster or heroes) for Nighthaunt. My advice regarding your purchase, @Spiny Norman, is to wait June / July, or Warhammer fest in 2 weeks if we are lucky, to see where those new Death releases will lead us.
  11. Well @Rogue Explorator we should get some info at the preview seminar at Warhammer fest 12th may (I can't wait ) But remember, the rumors range from a Blightwar style boxset and a Magic supplement coming alongside a Nighthaunt battletome and then the FAQ in July, to a true new edition with a dedicated new Rulebook and Starter set. We have proofs and rumors of several new units (Wizcast, Black Coach, Hangmen ghost are more or less confirmed + flying stormcast, ghast-caller, etc.), so full releases (i.e. bigger than just one new unit in Blightwar or Forgebane) are still likely... What is at least 100% confirmed (not the release date) : - Magic stuff + etheric vortex models (purple sun). - New Stormcast and Nighthaunt models (at least 1 or more units per faction) / the novel Souls War by Josh Reynolds. - a FAQ in July.
  12. It's Nighthaunt and then Stormcast / Magic supplement / new Rulebook first....
  13. Oh great ! Where did you found it ? Amazon.de ?
  14. About The Tainted Heard, I found this (apparently online since 8th January lol) : I'm really looking forward to it anyway, I found the Devoted of the Sigmar and the Order of Azyr quite interesting ! The Tainted Heart, by CL Werner (August)Clint Werner’s, The Tainted Heart, is an impressively affecting story about indomitable love in the wake of adversity. It begins with a malign plague, and a pair of expert witch hunters intent on destroying it. Talorcan and Esselt are emboldened by faith and a most formidable romance, setting them apart from all other duos in the Black Library range. However, the evil they face, ancient and sentient, is not easily subdued, and when circumstances reach the unthinkable, there is nothing the witch hunters will not do to protect one another. In this unusual, thrilling blend of heroic fantasy and tragedy, the Age of Sigmar setting is made rich with a profound exploration of honour, courage, and fallibility. This is a refreshing and poignant re-examination of the archetypal hero, and Clint’s lyrical style and mastery of theme are deeply compelling – an unquestionable treat from one of our most gifted authors. —Hannah Hughes, commissioning editor https://www.barnesandnoble.com/blog/sci-fi-fantasy/95-books-sci-fi-fantasy-editors-cant-wait-read-2018/ (scroll down down)
  15. The continuing mentions of "Stormkeeps" in the fluff, the special Azyrite design seen in the artworks, since 2016 ans Season of War (about new order cities...) and the fact that one of the Warhammer TV guys said back when they realized the Sector Mechanicus range that we would at some points see something similar (modular scenery range) for AOS makes me really think it SHOULD come with a new edition. Also the cover of Souls War seem to depict a battle in an Order city.
  16. Of course. But not Idoneth Deepkin related. There will cleverly be more generic Etheric Vortex sceneries, most probably attached to the new Magic supplement.
  17. Oh excellent point ! I was wondering myself if we would get more Deepkin scenery but Etheric vortex is obisouvly a generic name, not an Idoneth one, and fits right in with the new Magic supplement !
  18. That may be a bit early to discuss, but between the many rumors we got recently about Slaanesh, here are some gathered rumors about his/her release (not counting the announced Emepror's Children & Fulgrim rumors) : - Date : October 2018 or December 2018-January 2019. - "Battletome : Seekers Of Slaanesh" (see Idoneth Battletome page 15, it will probably replace Hosts of Slaanesh from the Chaos Alliance book). - New plastic Keeper Of Secrets, maybe also N'kari dual kit. - Plastic Fiends Of Slaanesh. - Plastic Mortal chariot (also from that Malign Portents short story). - Probably new Heroes and some kind of Mortal Infantry. I feel like a anticipating Slaaneshi now
  19. 4 is Stormcast, but not yet released (see the Shadespire card and the true cover of Soul Wars. There won't be yet any new Idoneth releases (than those in the Battletome), according to GW. 12 is close to the Knight of Shourds but isn't (see the 360° view of the model), so probably the coming NIghthaunt release (there was another RE for the Shadespire Orruk's cape).
  20. The "mortis panel" is iirc a kill team scenery too And the 20 and 27 feb are Necromunda van saar
  21. Exactly. I would be pretty disappointed if Soul Wars is just a Blightwar style box (unless it's made with models from entirely NEW armies, aka Nighthaunt and Wizcasts). At least, we know the Nighthaunt release is the Black Coach, the new Shadespire ghosts, and surely some Heroes / Monsters (as seen in the MP short stories). If they end up at release in a Blightwar style boxset with a discount, then why not, but I would still prefer a snap fit / easy to build, proper new Starter set (coming like Dark Imperium with a new Main (fluff) book !) If the box is only the old models like Spirit hosts and Skeletons and, say, only a new black coach, I'd by quite upset.
  22. I agree, but it makes the AOS "phase " be like : 1 new magic supplement + 1 new FAQ in July + 2 new armies (maybe combined in a Bligthwar type box set), instead of : new magic supplement, new main book, new (proper) starter set, 2 new armies, 1 new FAQ, etc. EDIT @Turgol about your last comment, yes that's exactly what I think. And, too, I still think Moonstone, LLV and the French rumors have hinted at bigger rules changes than a magic supplement and a FAQ. Anyway we'll see....
  23. Yeah, what I meant is that this fluff bit apparently ties the next Malign Portents chapter (Nagash's great work succeeding) with the Magic Supplement, making it quite important (because it's quite a huge thing, Nagash going all-out ), and not "just" another supplement. And given its magic + death, it's obviously linked to the Nighthaunt + Wizcast rumors too. And that's a bit sad. Because - in my head at least - GW releasing a new edition (i.e. a new main book and a new starter set) should be a release huge enough to "stand appart" from the main release schedules (compare idk how the Wrath of Magnus or Black Crusade releases were handled - i.e. "just" a part of the main release schedule - with the launch of 40k 8th). TLDR : I'm afraid that now, a new AOS edition (big releases) is less likely than before, because, (in fact), the rumors we had about a new edition were about a new magic supplement and rules changes coming with a FAQ (normal releases - don't get me wrong, still huge and exciting, just less "big" than I expected !). Also what @RuneBrush and @Gaz Taylor said (EDIT : about the FAQ : as I understand it, given the fact that now AOS and 40k share the same FAQ + GHB/CA system, I guess GW will share for them the same approach on modifying / adapting the rules, as @Skabnoze suggested)
