Can anyone make out the Abhorrent Archregent rules from that flash of the card.  He is obviously 6 wounds, 4+ save, 6 move and 10 Bravery but I can not make out the special text, command ability or the spell.

    Spell is ________ Hunger

The command ability seems to say Summon Imperial Guard. Interesting!!!!!!

Has something like summon either 1 COURTIER, something something REVENANTS or a unit of 20 SERFS.

Maybe some renaming, or some changing units.

If I had to guess I’d say the new keywords are the FEC equivalent of SUMMONABLE. Just for FEC it will be multi tier.

Appreciate the feedback, @Honk! I realized close to end of the game the best I could do was spam Ghouls and just let him kill some. Would have stopped DP generation for sure.

Basically yeah. FEC lack for rend outside of Vhargulfs and Behemoths, so with a general like that you're best off just trying to tarpit them.

Also the speed shown in the twitch stream right now of even the basic infantry is insane! So good! Battleshock will be a issue though. But that’s how it supposed to be in my mind.

Yeah, battleshock when outside of the Herdstone range is clearly an intentional weakness of the army.

  4. 4 Ghoul Kings is still probably only worthwhile if you're running Malign Sorcery, since otherwise there's just not enough spells to make use of the variety. But having 5 wizards on the table is pretty nice if you've got Endless Spells and a Realm Lore to pick from.

Regardless of anything else, surely doubling up on the Horror/Flayer summon is light years above burning the trait for a fourth GK?

Burning the trait? Majestic Horror isn't limited to once per battle. If your general has multiple Command Abilities that summon, they can use Majestic Horror to pump all of them. It's the Command Abilities themselves that are limited use, not the boost.

  6. I'm wondering whether it would actually be viable to run Royal Family (boosted with majestic Horror) and Ghoul Patrol in the same army for a huge surge of first turn summoning and magical dominance through sheer number of wizards.

Probably not, but it'd be worth seeing if you could use the horrors/flayers and 10-ghoul units you can chain summon as distractions long enough to build your Ghoul Patrol units to an appreciable size.

  7. On the plus side, collecting FEC got me to embrace kitbashing models out of spare bits, because damn if I'm using a regular ghoul torso for my courtier and fielding my units under strength.

Maybe if I delude myself hard enough, I'll see a 2E Flesh Eater Courts battletome complete with a new model release for actual courtiers.

Anyone noticed yet that Soulblight is not listed in GHB18. No allegiance abilities, no relics, no Soulblight battle profile. But still Blood Knights are listed as "Battleline in Soulblight Army", and Soulblight is listed as a faction in the list of allies. Surely GW must have made some sort of mistake. ?

The Soulblight Faction write up is in Legions of Nagash. The fact it isn't in the new GHB just means it's not been changed.

Soooo....The new majestic horror allows the general to use the same command ability twice at the cost of one cp, however the errata states that we can only use i.e. the ghoul King on terrorgheist command ability, if it has not used it  earlier in the battle. If I understand it correctly, the errata basically rendered MH useless??

What's the exact wording on the new MH?

  10. The main weakness of chain summoning as a strategy (aside from the fact we don't know precisely what's been changed about the relevant Command Abilities and Traits yet) is that summoned units are at minimum size and there's no way to boost their numbers beyond that, which means they're always going to be in danger of getting wiped before you can heal them. Gonna be relying a whole lot on suicide charges.

I would hope so, because this move really hurts those armies that do not have battle tomes.

As a grot player I have no real access to extra command points unless they add in some battalions or some other method to get more.  Also, the change to inspiring presence means that you basically get half of the effect that you currently do (it only works for a single battleshock phase and not the whole round), but you do gain the ability to trigger it exactly when you will need it rather than having to guess ahead of time.  A more granular strategy for Inspiring Presence is nice, but we will have to see if that balances out getting less of it.

Seems like they want Command abilities to be more reactive and more Hero-dependent. Presumably means there's some incentive not to spend your Command Point during the Hero Phase if it can also be used for panic-button abilities later in the turn, especially as if you end up not using them the points carry over to the next turn.

  12. I don’t think Seraphon are likely to get squatted any time soon. Even if nothing new gets produced, they get regular mentions in fluff as a thing that exists in the setting. In contrast TKs *never* get mentioned.

You don’t give exposure to something you want to disappear.

  13. It'd surprise me if the Mortis Panel isn't for AoS, just because the hourglass motif has figured so prominently in the Warscryer Citadel, the Knight of Shrouds and it's appeared in the "magic" preview video on some of the art.

I mean it's certainly not impossible for it to be 40k related cause GW can certainly use similar motifs in multiple games, but the usage of hourglasses just seems so deliberate in the Malign Portents stuff.

I may have missed some discussion earlier in this thread, but what are people's thoughts on us seeing the rumoured "light" and "shadow" Aelves any time soon? Signs seem to be pointing at GW being done with Aelves for now, but I'm really hankering to see my favourite brothers back in the game.

If I were a betting man I’d say any further elf stuff is likely to come after a Slaanesh release for an elves vs Slaanesh campaign. I’d say that’s more likely next year’s thing.

So Teclis screwed up and now he’s been demoted to Tyrion’s talking steed?

Now I'm just imagining a Journey to the West style thing where Teclis has been transfigured into Tyrion's magical talking horse as punishment for his misdeeds.

  16. I think it’s more likely Slaanesh will be the focus of the next campaign once Portents is wrapped up, and that this is foreshadowing. A campaign late this year or early next would tie in with about the sort of time you’d expect a new Chaos release based on existing patterns.
