  1. Pretty sure it'll be 100% square bases. Moving to rounds increases the footprint of pretty much all miniatures which would just be amplified with movement trays, which makes a lot of difference for things like flanking and similar. However funnier things have happened at sea! Now my knowledge is certainly 2 years out of date, however Tony was/is the head of Forge World and Andy was the head of Specialist Games. Over the last year or so we've been seeing "Specialist Design Studios" being used in lieu of Specialist Games & Forge World and HH has been brought under SDS along with Old World, Titanicus, Aeronautica, Hobbit & Bloodbowl. My general impression is that it's a move to basically bring the old FW part of the business back into the main GW fold, although still running as it's own department. In fact SDS even has it's own 'Eavy Metal team. HH/AoD is still part of Specialist Design Studio and still comes under the watchful eye of Andy Hoare. The Old World was being done as the fantasy version of Age of Darkness and had it's own dedicated team responsible for it. 100% The grapevine is still saying that Age of Darkness is considered GW's third "main" game. If popular I could entirely see The Old World become a forth main game, however that's going to be some time away.

  3. Well the first batch of tickets went up yesterday and sold out within seconds... Another batch going up on the 8th from the seem of things. Real mixture of views on the limited nature of it, though not that surprising in truth.
  4. A few that I use. Build yourself up to 2k point games. You wouldn't look to run the London Marathon without doing some half marathons first afterall! Reduce the number of "bolt on" rules that have minimal impact on a game - scenery rules are a good example of something that's often forgotten after turn 1. You can always add rules back in when the game becomes more natural. Pre-count your dice in sets of ten - ideally if you have enough dice, have sets of ten of a specific colour. This pays dividends if you need to roll vast quantities of dice - 44 dice is simply four sets of different colours plus four extra ones. Have your spells, allegiance abilities etc on warscroll sized cards for quick reference. Equally use tokens to remind you that units have specific buffs. Stay hydrated and top up your glucose levels. Gaming is surprisingly taxing on the old brain so it's really important to replace the fluids and glucose that you're using up! I can easily get through a pint or two of water during a 2k AoS game. Jelly Babies are great for a quick shot of sugar
  5. A response on Twitter and a bit of further clicking the weekend ticket price is £15. That gives you both the option to enter miniatures into the competition and provides access to WHW over the Saturday and Sunday. The Hobby Pass tickets are £30 per day for the weekend - from the looks of it that gives you access to WHW on the respective day, plus access to the paints, stations, bits piles & a miniature.
  6. My reaction (which I'm giving even if you don't want it 😉) Ticket only and limited tickets doesn't surprise me at all. WHW isn't the biggest of venues and with Covid still an issue (Nottingham has been a bit of a hotspot), limiting the number of people on site is equally good and bad. A four day event genuinely has surprised me, I'm intrigued what extra content we're likely to get on those days. My biggest gripe is that for anyone who needs time off work or hotels (or flights), this isn't as much notice as we could have had. I'm curious as to what tickets are a) going to cost and b) what will be available and c) how many. We already know there will be at least a Golden Demon and Hobby Pass tickets on sale - will there be a "Entry Only" ticket because quite a lot of painters will just want to drop their model off and vanish until the presentation (though I personally think that unlikely). I'm looking forward to them fleshing out what we're likely to expect over the 4 days! Now I need to try and actually get a ticket...
  7. Happy to say for those of you that have been waiting, that tickets for Golden Demon 2022 up at WHW will go on sale on 1st August at 7pm UK time. In summary Event is running over 4 days - Thursday 29th September ~ Sunday 2nd October Saturday and Sunday WHW will be ticket only and limited on numbers Thursday and Friday will be normal days You can enter a GD miniature up until 3pm on the Saturday - you WILL need a ticket There is a special "Hobby Pass" event that includes a model and access to paints, pile of bits etc for you to paint a model There will be a number of other mini hobby events running over the 4 days Link to Eventbrite
  8. Gentle reminder to stick to AoS please folks 😉
  9. Pretty sure this was always the intention, although seeing how many models we've got in plastic for age of darkness leaves me more positive we'll get more plastic rather than less!
  10. Hi Sam, It did go a bit quiet over the pandemic as nobody could meet up, but it seems to have come back to life once more. Most (as in all) of the club members use Facebook for arranging get togethers etc (https://en-gb.facebook.com/groups/752718634828089/) rather than TGA. I must be honest and say that myself and a couple of people on here tend to not use the club a huge amount as Sunday afternoons tends to be a bit difficult for us to free up. I've also heard good things about FactoruM over in Warminster too, though that's less of a club and more a venue if that makes sense. Cheers, Pete
  11. You've missed off "procrastinating and wasting time on social media" 😂 In all seriousness the vast majority of my hobby is on the non-gaming side of things. I've generally one main "painting" and one main "assembly" project on at a time so that I can move between the two. Most of my assembly gets done downstairs in front of the telly whereas the painting is up on my hobby desk, so it gives a decent amount of variety should I need it. I generally aim to get in at least an hours worth of hobby most evenings, it varies with Wednesday often having none and Thursdays most of the evening is spent hobbying. My biggest sin is that I generally paint things a lot more detailed than I actually need to, so all my projects take significantly longer to do than the number of new projects coming in... One day I hope to retire and redress that balance 😁
  12. It is! 2 week preorder too... The Chaos Knights do look good, certainly have one on my list of things I fancy painting at some point (it's a long list)
  13. I'd say Archaeon or Nagash, though both are technically end times models. From a purely AoS age the vampire warband for Underworlds.
  14. If I had £25 burning a hole I reckon I'd be thinking about starting off a path to glory force. Perhaps pick up a character to convert up for your general (a ghosty Gaz?) or a unit you think it iconic or you fancy painting up
  15. Over the past years we've had a wealth of new designs depicting a massive variety of mortals from the realms. There was no situation where this artwork wasn't going to make it's way into AoS in an army of some kind. Equally the existing Cities of Sigmar range is very heavily WHFB with it's pseudo historical aesthetic and although we may see some elements of this being kept, we were never going to have "new empire" in the way you seem to be thinking. I will also add that we've not been given any information on the actual army itself either, it's entirely possible that we'll have a unit wielding double handed swords that you can use your existing greatsword miniatures for.
  16. There's certainly things changing on that side of the business. My own feeling (and it's one I've said for the past 3 or so years), is that Forge World is basically going to become synonymous with "resin miniatures" - you'll have the FW store up in WHW, but broadly it'll be the label you get on boxes and blisters when they contain a resin model. It's a very well known brand and trademarked so GW aren't simply going to throw it away. All of the rules, boxed games etc are coming under the heading of Specialist Design Studio and that's been happening for at least the past year. Age of Darkness (aka the 28mm Horus Heresy ruleset) will be it's own entity - my own feeling based on the individuals involved is that it'll come under the umbrella of SDS as will The Old World.
  17. +++ MOD HAT +++ Gentle remind folks. Firstly we do have a no potato picture policy on TGA, we have been fairly chilled on it recently for a few bits. Secondly, please try to avoid putting up fakes - get's people's hopes up and we spend far too long debating something that isn't real!
  18. Although things may well have changed over the past 3 years, the original intention was that The Old World was being designed as a historical style game. You'd get a small number of "black books" covering a specific period, with rules for the protagonists in the skirmishes and battles in that timeframe. Although one of the selling points is that "oh look you can use your old armies", that wasn't the core focus of The Old World and I always felt it was added by WarCom rather than the designers. I could see some kind of Legends style book be released a bit like we had the original Grand Alliance books, but I can't see us getting Codex/Warhammer Army/Battletome books - at least not until well after the game has released.
  19. Apparently it's still in the review stage and not quite yet been greenlit. Have seen a few people saying they've received the "trial period over" email.
  20. I'm not actually that surprised to see this on the Underworlds warbands. It's a shame as the models are great (although range rotation items do get brought back), but I can't remember the last time I saw somebody buy a set of Underworlds models specifically to include in their AoS army as the named warband. I've a feeling that many of these boxes may have been simply been sat on shelves collecting dust, so it makes sense to rotate them out for a bit and use the space for something that people are buying.
  21. I don't necessarily agree. I think The Old World will appeal to a different player so cross-compatibility with AoS isn't going to make or break the game. Lots of people will pick up The Old World rules with the intention of using an old WHFB army with them, likely many of them aren't interested in AoS. You're also looking at this from the perspective of directly porting a unit from one game system over to another verbatim. Most people I've spoken to aren't that interested in dual-system'ing and more interested in taking a fresh Old World model and using as a special character in their AoS army. From the perspective of 30k/40k the units most commonly used in multiple systems are daemons and knights rather than marines.
  22. +++ MOD HAT +++ I've just tidied a few posts up - apologies if your post is one that's been removed. One item I will comment on with regards to moderation is please do not assume that because somebody hasn't been publicly berated, that they've not been spoken to regarding comments. We also have the "report" button on every post, please use that if you feel a post has gone off track or crossed the line rather than commenting on it yourself. I would also like to take the opportunity to point everybody - new members and old - to what is expected from you as a member of TGA.
