  1. Is there any space for an Archaon + Varanguard army in this edition? I'm thinking this could also fit the bill? That said, the Varanguard's offensive power seems a bit lackluster for their cost...
  2. May I ask why everybody puts a Plague Priest in their list, lately? Is it because of Disease-disease!?
  3. I do own a warpseer... Back in 2nd ed, I thought that clanrats sucked A LOT. But then again, I was mostly playing against nighthaunts and FEC, and my opponents could throw buckets of dice to murder my cuties in a single round of combat. Maybe they got better in 3rd? (Also, I never found the motivation to actually paint that many minis ^^)
  4. Hi everyone! I was playing Skaventide and BoK at the beginning of the 2nd edition, and although I was happy with my rats (yes-yes Skryre!), too many things needed to go right in a game for these armies to work: - Skaven are heavily reliant on spells (which can be unbound or fail... and fail they do) + some auras... And then Skaven tech tends to be... unreliable. - BoK is even worse: you need to stack as many buffs as possible from bloodsecrators, slaughterpriests, etc. or your models do jackshit. I know that many consider synergies and model placement as part of being good at the game, but I've realized it's not for me. So here I am, wondering if there's anything in AoS that plays like Custodes in 40k, where you have small autonomous units that may benefit from buffs, but can also work very well on their own. Cheers!
  5. Fyi, there is only one arquebuse per box of skitarii, hence the price on bits shops. ^^
  6. How about Varanguard? Has anyone tried to use them in Khorne army?
  7. You're right. I tend to take Verminlord + Bell for the rule of cool (and the Warpseer is a pretty good tank), but they both lack a punch. I have 20 half-painted plague monks, so maybe it's time to invest more in them and take them out on a ride. I have to say that Thanquol is also very appealing to me. I like low-model counts.
  8. He summoned, got double turn and then buffed everything... It's really frustrating. 😢 The only way I can avoid getting flanked that way is either to roll better (lel) or to park my units in the center of the board, so that the summoned units can't reach me. Problem: I won't be able to contest objectives that are close to an edge of the board, and I make myself more vulnerable to charge from the front. I'll try that. Hopefully Windlaunchers will be enough to deal with multiple archregents. I never manage to be in range of Ratling guns without putting myself at serious risk.
  9. With the spell for extra attacks, a command point to fight twice, a varghulf courtier, rerolling hits of 1 and a double turn, I suffered 101 attacks that cleared my clanrats, then the guy proceeded to wreck the juicy targets behind the screen. I did try to charge his ghouls with my stormfiends after gunning down some heroes/monsters, but the clubbing blows are not reliable enough to clear the unit entirely (and then on the next turn he brings back the dead models). Fun fact: I tried to fight him with another army (Legion of Chaos Ascendant), but whatever I do, the double turn gives him the victory.
  10. Hi guys! How do you handle Flesh-eater courts? I'm struggling a lot against my friend's list, because he can reliable flank me by summoning 20 ghouls + 1 varghulf with his abhorrent archregents, and if he gets a double turn, my clanrats usually get destroyed, then the rest of my army gets massacred right after... I feel like the only way to survive is to turtle somewhere, hope to avoid a double turn, and shoot things that are coming at me, but then I can't play the objectives (which are capped by terrorgheists or crypt horrors). Here's the kind of lists I bring in 1750 points: Allegiance: Skaventide LEADERS Warlock Engineer (100) - Lore of Warpvolt Galvanism : More-more-more Warp Power! Verminlord Warpseer (320) - General - Command Trait : Master of Magic - Artefact : Suspicious Stone Grey Seer on Screaming Bell (240) - Lore of Ruin : Plague UNITS 20 x Clanrats (120) - Rusty Spear 20 x Clanrats (120) - Rusty Spear 20 x Clanrats (120) - Rusty Spear 6 x Stormfiends (520) 1 x Warp Lightning Cannon (180)
  11. Hi everyone! What would you say is our best answer to Nagash in a bonereaper army? I thought about allying Be'lakor to prevent Nagash from doing anything for 1 turn (or 2), but I'm not sure it would be worth the points.
  12. Wait, how do you get 50 free pink horrors?
  13. Thanks a lot for your answer! I dropped an e-mail to the rules team, as you suggested. In the meantime, I am tempted to play the rule as written and follow the interpretation you disagree with! (sorry! 😁) The Stormfiends warscroll does say "that attack scores d6 hits", and the allegiance ability "Add 1 to the damage inflicted by 1 successful attack"...
  14. Sorry for (maybe) asking the question again, but there have been too many changes to our allegiance ability that increases the damage of an attack, and I have to say that I'm lost! So: - If I attack with a Stormfiend equipped with Shock Gauntlets - I get 4 hits on my target - I roll for wounds and all go through - I use the allegiance ability - I inflict 2 + 2 + 2 + 3 damage, and NOT 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 Please let me know if my understanding is correct.
  15. I see lots of people prefering Khinerai Heartrenders (the ranged version). See 5 posts above mine for example. I wonder if there is a consensus in the community on what's better, or if the 2 versions serve different purposes (in which case I would see the point of having 5 Lifetakers and 5 Heartrenders).
  16. When can we expect the announcement of the Battleforce box? My girlfriend offered me a Blood Coven for my birthday, so I'm starting a little force of DoK, but I'd rather avoid buying 200 pounds worth of miniatures if I can have a good deal a month later.
  17. How do you utilize the flee + charge movement?
  18. Any input on the following 1k points list? Allegiance: Khorne Leaders Wrath Of Khorne Bloodthirster (320) - General - Trait: Immense Power - Artefact: Behemoth's Bane Bloodsecrator (140) Slaughterpriest (100) - Blood Blessing: Bronzed Flesh Slaughterpriest (100) - Blood Blessing: Bronzed Flesh Battleline 10 x Bloodreavers (70) - Reaver Blades 10 x Bloodreavers (70) - Reaver Blades 5 x Blood Warriors (100) - Goreaxes Units 1 x Khorgoraths (90) Total: 990 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 20 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 69 I'm usually playing with the same 3 people, 2 of them bring some nasty behemoths like Drycha Hamadreth + Treelord Ancient, hence the Behemoth's Bane on my WoK BT. I don't know if I should remove a Slaughterpriest to add a Bloodstoker, considering that I can't have Gore Pilgrims at that point level... But I just love Slaughterpriests. ? I guess the alternative is to remove the Khorgy, or ignore the Bloodstoker altogether and add 5 more Blood Warriors.
  19. A realm artifact. Every 6+ on a to-hit roll against a monster or hero becomes d6 mortal wounds.
  20. Quick question, since I started playing AoS not so long ago, I'm still a noob... How do you score objectives with such a low number of models? Also, where is your damage coming from? Mostly the GUO?
  21. Hi Mike, thanks a lot for the information! Do you think Khorne is still playable in a 1k points format? I feel like our army relies too much on synergies and Gore Pilgrims to be effective at that point level...
  22. Agreed. The Ratling Cannons are very cool now! One question: you have no mobility... so how are you going to grab objectives?
  23. Nooooooooooooooooooooo. This displeases me, yes-yes.
