Don't forget the SoTW " loose until the last" gives you another shot per turn potentially and bigger units of sisters will decimate chargers or deter chaff altogether. Opponents may start setting up multiple charges to absorb damage with chaff and finished with something meatier. Plus sisters are better in combat - not by much but still better. Looks like sisters are way better than one shot GG now. GG look more specialised to me and too pricey for cheap BL. I don't use the pathfinder battalion really so movement is less of an issue. It would be good to see how they clarify the movement aspect of wanderer teleports. It's a shame they made it only one unit but at least it's any unit so it's still nice ability.

I have 20 painted SoTW and I use them a lot despite their high points and they are always better than GG. My opponents hate them - Skaven really hate them

You are assuming the person who wants to play by matched play rules to the letter has the high ground. You are wrong. "All rules are optional". Don't believe me? GW wrote that not me. Read what GW they say over and over in their books. AoS is not just for Tournament players it for everyone so allow them to play the way they want to. If you don't want to allow changes then don't play them, no one if forcing you. If you wont allow someone else to have an opinion without attacking it then maybe you will trust GW when they say the same thing as what I am saying. Read the Generals handbook (both of them) sections "The Many Faces of War" (Its right at the start) and maybe then you will see people are entitled to play the game the way they want to. Especially the last two sentences. "There is no Right or Wrong way to play Age of Sigmar so long as everyone adheres to the most important rule. We are all here to have fun!". You just have to find like minded players who will agree to the same parameters and we both agree on that. I like to promote fun play over rules tyranny and if you can't relax and have fun you can come across as a rules bully which isn't fun to play against. GW have streamed narrative games (They normally use matched play rules within the story) and they change or break rules quite often because its not a competition game it's purely because its more FUN to do so - like a What if "x" Happened? Fun >Story >Rules. It's the reverse in competitions but all are important and I find it's good rule to play games by. Of course you don't have to agree or follow it, its optional. As for allowing models from other systems in the game, yeah why not? sounds cool many people use models from other systems - only GW ban them from their hosted events because - well it's obvious. Would I allow someone to make up New rules/warscrolls? sure sometimes if they discussed them with me first and they sounded ok or fun. Many people do it already and there is even a Warscroll designer to make them look authentic. See https://runebrush.pa-sy.com//warscroll/

It is a fact. When you enter a comp you sign up to rules being enforced. Anything outside a competition is a choice rules wise. If someone won't let you play the models you want to use then they probably care more about winning than enjoying a good game and maybe best avoided.

The facts are also - Match play rules are only "enforced" in tournaments. The vast majority of players play at home with their friends and family or at local clubs. The rules are whatever WE want them to be. If you want to stop people playing the models they spent all that time painting and collecting then go ahead I was actually commenting for Hosemans sake and using your statement as a quote for one side of the discussion which, I might add, I agreed with. I was simply stating if you're not playing in a tournament with enforced Match play rules you can agree whatever you want. for example It's a good compromise to agree one game with compendium units and another without that way both players get what they want. ANother Fact - Matched play points are never balanced across all armies anyway so clinging on to the belief using Matched play = a fair game is a fantasy It's only a guide and GW state this themselves. Matched play is there to help players build similar strength armies using a shared framework of rules and points. In competitions and tournaments rules are essential and must be strictly applied but at home with yer mates do what is fun. The games I've enjoyed most are when my opponent has fun too and that often means it's when I lose. .

I never said assume everyone will play your list I said communicate with your opponent and agree and keep things light. I think you are arguing for the sake of it now. By just saying compendium units are or will be "illegal" your pushing people into a corner. I was simply highlighting other ways to play. It's more important for both sides to enjoy the game and to be inclusive not exclusive. Forcing someone to not use their favorite models isn't exactly friendly. That's all I was trying to say, it wasn't an attack on your opinion I was just balancing it.

The bearer of bad @Tidings Oh well another nerf in the wanderer coffin. I doubt the points drops will make up for it.

I didn't miss your point I understood it very well I just don't want you to push one side of the debate without balance. Its game not a competition and there are many ways to play. In the games I play with my Friends we rarely use all matched play rules to the letter instead we mix and match rules to how we want to play - sometimes no battleline, sometimes only battle line and one hero for example. Sometimes we play narrative with points or use other limits and freedoms to choose. The point is you should not make everyone who comes into this game think the only way to play is Match play otherwise you are missing the point. Its game and its meant to be fun. we all have collections we want to use and sometimes we will use substitutes for warscrolls. It doesn't really matter as long as players agree on the parameters of the game. Match play is a great way to play but it can make things a little too competitive and let's face it the armies will never be balanced in matched play anyway so what's the harm in using compendium units. I'm not saying you are wrong im saying we are both right buts thats just my opinion people will play how the want to play and if you can't agree or compromise then play someone else.

Only if its a tournament. Let's not put too many limits on our fun. Player to player you can play what you want. Just be upfront and agree if compendium units can be used first. If they insist on no compendium units being used then try agreeing on playing one game with them and one game without them? Its outrageous anyone should force you to not use those great dragons but some people may get too serious about this game. good luck have fun!

Oh yes it's obvious yet I didn't consider that melt away means we almost never get shut down by chaff that way. How could i miss that lol. but it wont stop opponents bringing lots of small chaff units to whittle down our archer groups.

I think it would be better if we keep archer units at 20 or even 10. Large blocks of archers doesn't look quite in theme for ambushing armies (in my humble view) you want small hard hitting fast units. Also Aezeal has a good point above on why they implemented Horde price drops in first place - it was to improve combat blocks (and steer AoS away from 40k style skirmish game). A points drop is needed for GG and they should be 3+ to hit all the time not just at 20 as its very easy to remove the 3+ by killing just one model. At least they should copy the Dryads who only lose there bonus when below 12 models yet they come in 10s. The new AoS will see a lot more small fast units trying to tie up and deflect archers away from their key targets. I think wanderers will need to develop an MSU archer style force. One that has supporting archer units deployed in layers so they can shoot the weak chaff units tying up our stronger shooters and allow them to continue focusing on juicier targets. For example If you have 9 hunters with bows tied up by a few weak flyers or a chariot or something and you really need to take out a key hero you just lost a critical turn of shooting by the ony unit with the range to hit the enemy hero. If you have supporting Glade Guard further back or nearby you can overlap fire and clear them off you main shooting unit (hunters) so they can continue to be effective. Imagine 30 Sisters of the watch - "loose until the last" makes the tactic of sending weak fast units to pin them down much less likely to succeed because they will be annihilated when they charge Sure we can use small units of eternal guard to block the chaff but there are so many ways around the battlefield now, teleporting, tunneling, flanking, flying, ethereal etc. Relying on blocking troops may not be the best answer and grouping our shooters into one or two big blocks just makes it even easier for your opponent to nullify your shooting. I think MSU (Multiple Small Units) may be the way to go now - even if it means losing the sweet +3 to hit on 20 GG. Also Wild riders may now be useful as anti chaff with their fast speed to intercept chaff and can also tie up enemy shooters. What do you guys think? any ideas for how to deal with the new changes?

It's a nice story element but its a bad call by GW in my opinion as I want to play wood elves not wanderers. I want an elven army with a strong affinity toward nature and especially woodlands. GW just stopped me doing that despite painting over 200 models in a woodland themes from 8th ed days...I hope they reverse it soon. Sylvaneth are weaker outside their own alleigance armies so allying them in to theme my army more like the old days isn't very efficient but at least it's possible. I'm glad the points are coming down and I agree Rangers should come down more than executioners as Azeal already mentions. Wild riders also need to come down in price when compared to Gore Gruntas they are shockingly unimpressive. Cheaper Glade guard would make battle line a lot easier to fill and leave more for more those elite units we struggle to squeeze in and I really hope Sisters of the watch come down more and we can use them as battle line because "Loose until the last" and "Melt away" make them strong compared to other shooters in the game and really strengthen the wood elf/wanderer style of combat. Looking forward to the changes.

WOW mate are you a TROLL? Cool it. You Grossly exaggerate many "facts" there pal. WFB was never 1000's of pages and AoS is not just 4 - did you forget AoS has many many books out on how to play now? including army books, you're comparing 8 editions to 1. You're too much of a fan boy to hear any criticism seriously or objectively. I've played 2nd to 4th ed, then came back at 8th Ed and I play AoS and I like it. I merely passed on the opinions of those who tried to come back to the game and didnt like it. I know the game mate and I don't as you suggest smash new players with ridiculous cheese tactics, you are making assumptions about the kind of player I am? And WFB never had any "Codex" your thinking 40k , Not everything is space marines. I wanted to state an opinion not invite an argument so calm down. Just because you don't agree it doesn't make it dumb you just haven't worked it out yet...

Like I said war scrolls are rules anyone who says it’s just 4 pages is burying their head in the sand. AoS when combined is hundreds of pages of rules and they are not collected together into one place and they do change much more drequently with every release.. AoS is a very simple game at its core but with so many warscrolls it becomes very complicated to manage in the wider stream of tournaments due to the number of armies your facing. New players don’t face that assuming they don’t dive into tournaments. Calling people dumb for sharing an opinion is abuse so please be polite and less eager in your responses. Everyone’s point of view is valid and only they can tell you how they feel. New players need structure to the game and open play doesn’t have any so they often dive into matched play as a result. Plus matched play tones down a lot of the excesses of the game, excesses which again can put new players off when they try open play. I speak from experience and the new players I’m talking about aren’t kids with no experience of games, don’t forget there are a lot of old wfb players out there returning to the game and to them AoS is new and many of my friends shared their opinions with me when they tried it out, many didn’t like it for various reasons and chose to play games like play bolt action or other games with fewer factions and excesses instead. I’m not condemning AoS, I like it. I don’t think v2.0 is a big changes and from what I read I like most of the changes. I still have an opinion to share though so don’t shut people down when they air it after all I’ve earned it after 30 yrs of spending my money and time on GW products. I’m a fan that’s all.

The war scroll are rules. There are too many. You want to know the scrolls your facing so you can plan for it but it's not always easy to find them. Especially if its behind a paywall on the AoS app. Your opponent can see yours but you cannot see their new stuff? The rules on GW site are a pain to find one by one and many old ones are out of date. But I do agree I doubt they will make two sets - 1 simple and 1 Tourney player set. I want cheaper units so i can have bigger armies and use this big collection I have built up over the last 30 yrs
