  1. I'd be fine if we didn't get a new army IF they change friggin' Realms already. I'm super sick of Ghur. I'd vote for Ulgu or Chamon, as those seem really interesting. Maybe Andtor, being all magical and ******, will hold a realm-gate that stuff will travel through or something, yadda yadda. Chamon is the Realm of Metal, so they could do some armor and weapon GHB rules/artefacts/spells. Maybe turn guys into metal. Of course if they go to Ulgu, that's the best reason to actually have a new army in the form of Umbraneth, or just a big ol' grand Dark Aelf warclans style book with Morathi and Malerion in there....aren't those shadowy Warcry d'aelves in the DoK book?
  2. I am on the fence about getting any Duardins, but the Hammerers sure do look spicy on paper. And with the Advance in Formation Order they could move at a reasonable pace, and would be a good Counter-Charge unit. That Regiment of Renown box seems like a good Duardin starter. Maybe in the spring-time..... Yeah, but the Corps will still be a good unit to have though won't it? Though the points for them are very reasonable. I was thinking about Luminarks.....they can unleash a wild Krondspine. If you take a cheapo hero like the Black Ark Fleetmaster, bind it to Krondspine, then run them up, turn 2 (maybe even turn 1 sometimes) you can zap any enemy(ies) in 2-3 beam-lines with him underneath, and he's probably gonna die, the Krondspine will be wild and very near the enemy to do his work. I'll give it a shot with my 3K play test proxy game this weekend. I'm trying 4 Luminarks, 5 Steam Tanks, and smatterings of support units vs my actually existing Beastclaw Raiders army. If the Armored Company of the Living City can handle them, it can handle a lot of things I think.
  3. Good morning, City-folk. I have just learned there will be a 3000 point 1-day tournament next March at Adepticon (a very large gaming convention near Chicago in the USA). It will be on 6x4 foot tables, so reasonably larger than our current AoS size tables. 1-day of 3k will be easier on my mental load and voice than 2-days of the 2k Championships so I'm leaning towards this. With the bigger table I think that my Khorne army will be actually too slow to get places and far-flung enemies. At 3K my pure Clan Eshin might be too flimsy, even with their ninja skill and Krondspine and 3 Deceivers. My Breaker Tribe could be decent, but they're perhaps also limited because of their speed-bracketing and limited spread ability. My Ogors have speedy monsters, screen ability and deepstriking Gorgers/Hunters, etc so they're in the running for sure. BUT here's what I came up with for my Cities (thinking Living City for more positional options). My thinking is the Luminarks can still get decent range coming in from the edges if needed, especially from their back edge, just depends on how their units are lined up, and the horses are pretty fast anyways. I could trade the Black Ark Aelves for some Tree Revenants but not quite sure about that yet. Anyways I'm in the midst of gathering forces slowly and assembling things, curious what anyone thinks of this.
  4. Yeah the newer Ogors in Cities and Cursed City...and seems like another one maybe in Death? are perhaps taller and more dynamically posed. The Gorgers are definitely bigger than the dad-bods. Here's a weird list I'm dying to try out someday soon. Screens and tramples. Requires great mastery! Or something. Allegiance: Ogor Mawtribes - Mawtribe: Meatfist - Grand Strategy: - Triumphs: Icebrow Hunter (120) - General Tyrant (150) Tyrant (150) Tyrant (150) Tyrant (150) Firebelly (120) 2 x Mournfang Pack (170) - Culling Clubs and Hackers with Ironfists 2 x Mournfang Pack (170) - Culling Clubs and Hackers with Ironfists 2 x Mournfang Pack (170) - Culling Clubs and Hackers with Ironfists 20 x Gnoblars (120) 20 x Gnoblars (120) 1 x Gorgers (80) 1 x Gorgers (80) 1 x Gorgers (80) 1 x Gorgers (80) 1 x Gorgers (80) Total: 1990 / 2000 Reinforced Units: 0 / 4 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 152 Drops: 16
  5. Should I change my list up for the next upcoming event, last of 2023? I was using: Allegiance: Skaven - Grand Strategy: Masters of Execution - Triumphs: Verminlord Deceiver (400)** - General - Command Trait: Shadowmaster - Artefact: Shadow Magnet Trinket - Universal Spell Lore: Flaming Weapon Verminlord Deceiver (400)* - Artefact: Farskitter Cloak - Universal Spell Lore: Flaming Weapon Slynk Skittershank (220)** Deathmaster (110)* Deathmaster (110)* Deathmaster (110)** 10 x Gutter Runners (200)** - Reinforced x 1 10 x Gutter Runners (200)** - Reinforced x 1 10 x Gutter Runners (200)** - Reinforced x 1 Vermintide (30) *Command Entourage - Magnificent **Battle Regiment Artefact Total: 1980 / 2000 Reinforced Units: 3 / 4 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 76 Drops: 4 Or should I switch it to something like this with a few more wounds and the Warp Grinder and Gnawbomb to ease some terrain deepstriking burdens? I will say though, the Farskitter Cloak really saved that one Deceiver's hide a couple times last tournament! Allegiance: Skaven - Grand Strategy: Masters of Execution - Triumphs: Verminlord Deceiver (400)** - General - Command Trait: Shadowmaster - Artefact: Shadow Magnet Trinket - Universal Spell Lore: Flaming Weapon Verminlord Deceiver (400)* - Universal Spell Lore: Flaming Weapon Slynk Skittershank (220)** Deathmaster (110)* - Artefact: Gnawbomb Deathmaster (110)* 15 x Gutter Runners (300)** - Reinforced x 2 10 x Gutter Runners (200)** - Reinforced x 1 5 x Gutter Runners (100)** 10 x Night Runners (90) 1 x Warp-Grinder (60) *Command Entourage - Magnificent **Battle Regiment Artefact Total: 1990 / 2000 Reinforced Units: 3 / 4 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 84 Drops: 6
  6. Thank you! Those are great suggestions. Wheenver I get them I can probably magnetize the wizards to be able to go on or off the Luminark as needed, but forgot about extra Orders. Orders are excellent special sauce.
  7. I'm slowly getting back into the Cities as I am able; just seems like fun faction. I still had the book and the old Mechanical Steed plus bits for some custom Cavaliers, and I've managed to order 2 Luminarks before GW ran out (got the email back-in-stock yesterday at 4:30, tried to order at 6pm, and could only get the 2). I'm thinking something like this for my Living City. Outflanking clock-work laser-wagons for prime positioning with fast hard hitting mechanical cavalry, because the Living City won't send innocent horsies into dangerous battles, and with responsible mining we don't have to cut down the forests Any thoughts? Wasn't sure about grand strat/spells etc yet. Had the 30 pts and figured the gravetide is good for anti-chaff and blocking. Maybe 1 less Luminark for some allied Tree Revenants or Dark Elf Privateer screen? This will be my non-monster army. Allegiance: Cities of Sigmar - City: Living City - Grand Strategy: - Triumphs: Leaders Freeguild Cavalier-Marshal (120) - General Freeguild Cavalier-Marshal (120) Alchemite Warforger (110) - Universal Spell Lore: Levitate Battlemage on Luminark of Hysh (250) - Lore of the Collegiate Arcane: Pha's Protection Battleline Units 5 x Freeguild Cavaliers (180) 5 x Freeguild Cavaliers (180) 5 x Freeguild Cavaliers (180) 6 x Freeguild Command Corps (170) Behemoths Luminark of Hysh (220) Luminark of Hysh (220) Luminark of Hysh (220) Endless Spells & Invocations Suffocating Gravetide (30) Total: 2000 / 2000 Reinforced Units: 0 / 4 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 115 Drops: 11
  8. I'm unfamiliar with the Fantasy timelines, but this says it's before the Collegiate Arcane was formed. Is that before or after Mordheim took place? I have bunches of Gutter Runners and Veskit from that series.
  9. Just read about the Magic...more and more (besides the movement trays/square bases) Old World is looking kinda like Horus Heresy, which I like! Guess depending on the base sizes of stuff not in a tray, if I could use my AoS stuff I'd give it a try for sure. Skaven and Ogors were around back then right?
  10. Wasn't there mention of undersea Beasts of Chaos somewhere in the lore? Guess new warbands for Underworlds and Warcry that get interesting AoS rules is a nice way to scratch the itch...and these Armies and Regiments of Renown can change how one's existing armies play, so that's something short of a totally new faction that could keep things juicy.
  11. Does the Black Dragon count? No rend -2 at all 😛 Drakespawn stuff is pretty good though.
  12. After consideration and various opinions, I must agree with this sentiment. Thus, I have decided to just make a deathmask of his face and put it over an alien head.
  13. My Baleful Lords fought Brian Parisi 's Reapers of Vengeance tonight in the Icefields. 7 Bloodthirsters died in this game and at the end 2-3 Wrathmongers and nearly 20 Blood Warriors, and then my 5 Flesh Hounds (which I summoned) were left alive. Only my sneaky use of MurderLust (Skaven brain kicked in) to lock his Wrathmongers into combat with my Bloodmaster, so they couldn't go Reprisal on my Flesh Hounds that killed his general, gave the Baleful Lords the victory, as it denied him 2 points on the BT. Otherwise I think we were dead tied, including of course from Slaughter of Sorcery. His Rage-Thirsters went BOOM a whole bunch, and the Reapers + Titanic Duel and AOA neutralized my Unfettered Fury aura very nicely. Great game and so close. Wrathmongers are way better than they used to be. Need some! They'll go great with my Skullreapers; gonna use them instead of Skarbrand next time.
  14. Here's what I've got going so far, which isn't too far along yet. Cthulhu has the prodigious claws and once I do the scales should have the rubbery man-dragon-octopus look; his weapon is magnetized so could be a Kraken-Eater too. Found a bunch of Plague Monk books and scrolls for the smashed library base. Nyarlathotep/nameless horror I've used as Krondspine too; I might make a flail to either hook or magnetize on there to be another Gatebreaker. Yog-Sothoth I haven't much begun quite yet. Being The Gate, probably should also be a Gatebreaker, maybe with a big chained monolith amidst the bottom tentacles which would also add support structure. Gathering as many spherical bits for the 'congeries of globes' as I can, and will supplement with greenstuff when ready. For some Mancrushers I'll do a Shoggoth (easy way to use random bits!), a Mi-Go, and then just a more mutated Chaos Gargant. I think perhaps my solution would be to make a mask of HPL's face, and have some thing wear the mask. Hmmm, I like the sound of that. More pictures as I go!
  15. I'm in the works of making my Lovecraftian themed megagargants. Got a Cthulhu going (tentacle face and wings and claws, soon scaley skin)...a Nyarlathotep (big tentacles coming out of an old Balewind Vortex)....Yog-Sothoth (Tyranid Tyrannocyte which will have big eyeballs and globes all over besides the tentacles and mouth at the top). Then I wanted to do HPLovecraft as King Brodd (or Gatebreaker as the mood strikes me). But my wife said that might be a bad idea because of being a noted racist. I hadn't thought of that, and dang it, really wanted that to finish off the HPL theme. I glued all kinds of books and scrolls on his base as sort of a shattered library. What do people think of this? Would that upset anyone? I don't want to give anyone bad gameplay cuz they're wondering if I'm championing bad things, whereas I'm actually trying to pay homage to fictional giant otherworldly things beyond good and evil. Trying to think what else I could do...maybe the pharaoh Nephren-Ka (for which I'll need an old Necrosphinx kit for the bits).
  16. I definitely get a 300 (the movie) anicent Persian vibe off of many of the newer Slaanesh models. And some of the Tzeentch mortals lately are more east-Asian inspired (the Jade Obelisk warband comes to mind). Seraphon are certainly meso-American inspired!
  17. As cool as it would be, I don't think we'll so Drogrukhs to run with Kragnos. But we might see some sort of rule that works against Drogrukhs on some kinda named ancient foe of theirs, or perhaps in the next Stormcast book, like maybe Krondys/Karazai add 1 to wound rolls vs Kragnos (thought I remembered some rivalry between Dracothion and Kragnos from something). I definitely expect Umbraneth within the next 18 months. Can't see how they can keep going without them lore-wise. Morathi and all her doings; Slaanesh should be found already or the new spawn thing can arise to become a new alluring whatevergod; Malerion&Co can show up to tamp down all that AND the Skaven's mischief in Ulgu. Chorfs would be amazing but I just don't think they'll do it. MAYBE they could feel it out with a Regiment of Renown with the Horns, Iron Golems, and a Chaos Cannon of some sort? The Hellcannon remade in plastic would be awesome and I think sell very very well. But Don't see it happening in real life.
  18. Just saw this article on Yahoo. They're among us! ‘Giant coconut-cracking rat’ photographed for first time in Solomon Islands. See it (yahoo.com)
  19. I love that last idea; in most cases it would still allow a bunch of sneakyness. I often find my 2 farflung gnawholes shut down with enemy presence early on.
  20. I think that was wise. I think current Skaven are a vast improvement over their last book, but they still need some work, besides new models of course. Hopefully in the summer 2024 they'll get appropriate horde rules and hordes of new rats to build! I think maybe Tuesday or Wednesday Eshin will fight the Beastclaw Raiders or Breaker Tribe and see what happens. They're like, the opposite armies.
  21. I wonder if those Crypt Flayers will stay more or less the same? They've screamed at me so much and had so many models returned to their units when I've played against them, that now I kinda want them. But looks like there's a very similar unit in Soulblight (different heads I guess?)...that would almost give me two armies to try with them.
  22. I still don't have a Death army....wondering if FEC might fill that bucket now.
  23. Yes-yes! They have actually done fairly well for me this past year in casual and tournament play; many folks don't realize all their tricks. I need to play more practice games with them vs all my other choices too....I did a massive army churn this year so they're all new for me except Eshin.
  24. Now that's a PLAN-SCHEME! I never thought of the Gnawbomb after Skitterleaping. That could leave many options for finding a weak spot in enemy deployment. It would also be hilarious to use it on enemy faction terrain like a Herdstone or that giant OBR one.
