  1. I was a BoC player, but they have been shelved now, awaiting new oracular visions of greatness from Morghur, or whomever can unleash the full potential of Bullgors. Now I'm an Ogor and SoB player, and had SoB come out a couple months earlier I wouldn't even have the Ogors, but they are always fun, even Gutbusters. But SoBs, while not an autowin, is more powerful in 3.0. Yes we got the points increases but the addition of the battleline role to the megagargants was very key in making that army tick. Once 'next season' in some other Realm starts they won't be quite as potent because they won't score those extra monster-points for tactics. What might be fair is have the megas have to choose which battlefield role to fill. Not all counting as heroes would limit their CA overdrive. I think the points are pretty fair though. The Kraken Eater and Warstomper really don't do much damage. They just have a bunch of wounds.
  2. Sharks! I lost my last 2.0 game vs IDK too. That's a tough matchup because of their speed/flight, but also they have those eels that ignore rend, plus the turn 3 strike first thing. Gonna have to think about how to cope with all that for my September 3K event. Positioning for favorable turn 3 combats could help but not easy to out position most Aelves. Seems like the best tactic is to bumrush everything forward on them for turn 2 combat. I haven't played vs any other Aelves ever. Not DoK or Lumineth, or even the Cities versions. Or the Duardin for that matter.
  3. Oh there will be Ironguts I see your points and I'm sure they'll be proven correct and then I'll end up using it for conversion parts (and the Ironblaster kit is amazing for that!). Still, I'd run 2 Ironblasters over 6 Gluttons any day, even in 2.0 they performed pretty poorly when I used them. But Gors never ever do anything, that's for sure.
  4. Don't forget Ironblasters can do 6 shots up close, and they hit on 3+. With that, Blubbergrub Stench, and just combat I think one could clear out a low count chaff unit like Gors in one go.
  5. Alas I only have Stonehorn Beastriders and no Mournfangs, but I can still fit 2 FLoSHs in with 3 SHBRs. And I think at least 1 Slaughtermaster too. I haven't fought with my Ogors in 3.0 yet, but they will practice vs my Sons of Behemat soon. And then I might pit my Gutbusters vs the BCRs as well, and vs the SoBs for a mini Destruction tournament. Ironguts plus Bloodgullet sure looks good on paper.
  6. Beasts of Chaos don't really even worship the Chaos gods from what I understand about them, and they wreak havoc on civilizations everywhere without purpose. Revamping them to be Destruction makes so much sense especially with the looks of Kragnos. Aside from the mutational wonders of Morghur that is. A massive dragon ogor type for a storm demi-god but with wings would be fantastic! Tsunamis are caused by earthquakes, but I suppose a flood oriented demi-god would be very much appropriate for that theme, and ****** with IDK water effects. Then for fire, volcano thing!
  7. That's a great observation; so Archaon probably can't take Flaming Weapons then. Nor should he cast anything whilst romping with the Blood God! I have all the bits to make a custom Insensate Rage Thirster; and I have a custom Skarbrand already. If I had to pick, what should be my 3rd Bloodthirster? I have some arms and heads and one more regular axe, plus the whip and flail bits. The Wrath version seems pretty strong on its own but the Unfettered Fury version has that 6" pile-in/eligibility CA which seems pretty popular. How does that negate Unleash Hell though? Because daemons within range don't need to charge at all if they're within 6" of the enemy?
  8. I think since he's a wizard he can take a spell from the Universal Lore. Flaming Weapons on him would be great. Played my above list tonight vs Coalesced Thunderlizards w 3 Carnosaurs, 2 foot Skink Priests and 1 floating chair version, plus 6x5 Saurus Knights. Wow, those knights put out a bunch of attacks! And sometimes he was able to give them MW on 6s to wound. They whittled me down. Alpha Beast Pack didn't help the Sphiranxes much, rolling 2/3 for their moves, same for Chimera. It was Veins of Ghur, he let me go first so I just moved up and scored my Ferocious Advance. He did the same and walled off his General carnosaur (my Vendetta target). Skarbrand rolled up turn 2 and cleaned up 5 saurus knights after my Daemon Prince engaged another wall of 5, Flesh Hounds got to some more. He then declined to charge his general into Skarbrand bottom of turn 2 which was definitely a mistake on his part, but I forgot to halve his charge rolls from a Bastiladon and other carnosaur on my left flank as I had my Daemon Prince in range and spent the CP. That cost me the game right there. Long day, couldn't remember everything. DP held in there until bottom of 3 when the Bastiladon got through his armor and Amulet saves with his 3 tail whomps. Bullgors whiffed as usual and died to that carnosaur that shouldn't have made the charge. Top of 3 Skarbrand charged the General carnosaur and got a Carnage off for 8 MW, and the guy rolled five 6s and a 5, failing only 2 ward saves...YAHTZEE! And Slaughter only caused 2 damage. That sucked. The Chimera died. Bottom of 3 I used my Blood Tithes for Apoplectic Fury, and Skarbrand struck again and did 24 MW to begin and then finally got my Vendetta! But we motioned through what would happen and he won 21-14. DP is good with Finest Hour and the Amulet. Very tanky and potentially a hero assassin. Bullgors just whiff. All my Beasts of Chaos are going in the closet for a while. I'm gonna trade out the Bullgors for Rage Thirster, and the Chimera for 2 Slaughter Priests or Khorgoraths or maybe I'll make a Soul Grinder. The cats actually come in handy, just not til turn 3 usually. Skar Bloodwrath got his deepstrike off. I could have used him and a retreating DP to get a Battle Tactic. With less hordes though not sure Skar is worth it unless there are Wrathmongers to command.
  9. I better brush up on my FAQs; just gave them a cursory glance. And make a reminder sheet for each phase. That was helpful with my Legion of Azgorh at tournaments. Speaking of tournaments, I got off the waitlist for the big 3000 point one! I'm very excited, should be ridiculously full of absurd army builds. I'm pretty settled on Taker Tribe, Kraken Eater with -1 to hit, Gatebreaker w Amulet of Destiny, 2 more Gatebreakers, 1 Mancrusher, and Kragnos. I was considering taking a Warstomper instead of the 3rd Gatebreaker but not really sure if that's wise. The Warstomper just seems meh to me, though his jump up and down is decent, the hurled body possibly useful. I plan to magnetize the club so it could be a giant flail. Or should I just go Gatebreaker with that many? Or go Taker with the 1 Warstomper? Or ****** Kragnos and take 5 megas and a 2nd mancrusher? Definitely gonna be the hardest meanest event possible 💪
  10. I just meant taught how to play without holding his hand. He was nervous when I said I was bringing SoBs and that it's only like his 6th game. Figured Khorne was a pretty safe bet, was on the fence about bringing my Ironguts/Leadbelchers/Slaughtermasters army but they are too OP for a rookie too.. Skarbrand is maybe rough but I've haven't used him since 2018; answer to his Carnosaurs. Chimera is just cool and I've never seen one in action.
  11. Excellent, I also have a SoB army! But Tuesday night I'm fighting Seraphon Saurus knights with my Khorne Beasty army. More of a casual intro game, I think the guy is sort of a new player. Still, he needs to be schooled. Idea is the 2 cats move up early, along with the Chimera potentially to get into position. The cats are low priority for most, but at 10 wounds in cover they can hang in there to steal minds when the time is right. So theoretically the DP and Skarbrand can strike first at a heavy target (like the Oldblood Carnosaur), and 2 other of his units will be striking last hopefully so ALL the other units engaged of mine can strike before them, thus winning the activation wars and the game. I don't think he's got Kroak or the Slaann star wizards, but some skink wizards. Hopefully between the Bloodsecrators and Flesh Hounds I can shut down some of that. Very excited to get some Chaos action, been all Destruction lately. SKULLS FOR THE THRONE! (instead of dinner like my Ogors would say).
  12. If you're going Taker Tribe, I'd still run the Gatebreaker over 2 Kraken Eaters. Their damage dealing is unparalleled and they can still get +1 to hit with All Out Attack or Titanic Duel, and coupled with the Heroic Finest Hour almost everything they touch will die. The Kraken Eater could kick another objective, but hard to say how often that actually helps, especially with a bad 2D6 roll. It's taken me at least 2 kicks to shift them out of my own zone in games where opponents can score higher on those. And when the combat comes they just don't cut the mustard for me, just the cheese. If going Breaker Tribe, Gatebreaker of course can get the Fierce Loathing. But as mentioned, seems like Taker Tribe is stronger now with the extra ways to get +1s to hit. Also Gatebreakers can end up smashing 2 pieces of terrain per turn if they want to. Perfect for weeding those Living Wyldwoods or whatever they're called.
  13. @vinnyt How do you think escalating a game to 3k points would affect your Taker Tribe tactics, and what would you add? Another Gatebreaker and Warstomper? Kragnos and a mancrusher or 2? Or Kragnos, a Warstomper, and take out a Mancrusher? I'm almost off the waitlist for the 3K in Milwaukee, WI, USA and want to get ready.
  14. Orruks tome is on its way, with rules to save Kragnos' day!
  15. Oh, and I have an old plastic Glutton/Bull converted into a Slaughtermaster, but this guy just has a nice big belly, no gut-plate hole. Anyone know what those bodies were from? I can't find any other plastic Ogres like that. I'll snap a picture later tonight. Here he his...see that big belly? No gutplate hole. I'd love another 2 of those bodies.
  16. I'd probably group 2 of the cat units into 1 bigger unit to outflank with the Hunter, but that's a neat weird army. The CP route is intriguing and I think could pay off pretty well going for Battle Tactics. I used the Hunter once like that in 2.0 and it was pretty fun injecting the CA nitrous into the Ogor fueltank. Yet another way to play the Mawtribes for the low low price of 125 points! And Stonehorn Beastriders would still be battle-line with a Hunter General.
  17. Doesn’t it depend on whose turn it is?
  18. Kragnos/ HoSH/ 3 SHBR. Boulder head, metalcruncher, brand of the svard, 2 drops w battle regiment. 5 convenient models. Oh that’s a quick game one way or another.
  19. Ah the Drake, yes you’re right. They’ll probably have that keyword.
  20. Those new Order Draconith dragons are HUGE. I'm hoping they come with keywords that let Kragnos reroll hits and wounds against them, since they're his original enemies. But they'll probably do the same vs him, or all Destruction units or something. They'll have a big advantage of flight though, and somehow Kraggy killed almost all of them in his youth? Makes little sense to me. At least Kragnos looks cooler.
  21. Who thinks those new dragons will be a problem for we who stomp? I'm hoping they don't bring along a bunch of little ones with them.
  22. Ah ha, Murderlust! I just plain missed the part about a normal move too (and Skarbrand's native reroll charges!). Screens are so annoying. I should probably have some.
  23. Is there a good way to ensure Skarbrand makes it into combat at the right time? All I can see is a reroll charge ability from a bannered Bloodsecrator or whichever other Thirster does it, and then an Unfettered Thirster for 6" pilein. Bloodstoker doesn't intimidate Skarbrand enough anymore. Maybe the Slaughterpriest with Bloodbind? I've never tried that one.
  24. I almost painted a Clan Skryre army a few months back, but too many bills and too little time to play MORE armies, so I sold 'em and stuck with the meaty boyz. Glad I did. I have Iron Warriors if I wanna play 30k/40k :0 With Skaven in general it does seem they kinda fall apart if we can get rid of the heroes (especially because of the crappy bravery). Though they're not super great without Underguts, I do think a unit of Leadbelchers comes in real handy for hero sniping, and some vultures if going the heavy BCR route. Haven't ever tried an Ironblaster, but those are pretty cheap actually. Maybe Maneaters can make good assassins too....if only they could hide in units of Gnoblars and surprise people!
  25. I agree, it's good to try out the smorgasboard to see who can do what successfully. You have a good variety pack of units. I'm curious to see how Wrathmongers and Skullreapers fare; the Wrathmongers are looking good at units of 10 I think these days with their 2" reach but those models always get all tangled up on me with the chains. Never tried swinging around a sledgehammer head welded to a chain before. That might be cool to try!
