  1. Wip have to finish for Sunday!
  2. I think it's a White Lion, behold the similarities:
  3. Marking the calendar and rallying the troops!
  4. Yeah I play Ironjawz too, so to me it's not that big a deal
  5. That's exactly it Tom, his rules don't mesh much like the Kharadron Overlords Admiral.
  6. An extra 6" movement and there is moaning? Sayl takes it a bit to far at 18" perhaps, but I think 6" for one unit is really not bad at all.
  7. The ships will be mostly black with lots of blue/green glow to match the tentacles. I'm hoping the tentacles Do make it look busy/dynamic!
  8. ARISE!!!! I love this thread so I'm bringing it back! 30 Arkanauts in progress. I have a Frigate, Khemist and 9 Endrinriggers to finish in less than 2 weeks.
  9. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/05/10/rumour-engine-may-10th-2017/ Looks elfy with a touch of Stormcast
  10. That's what I'm expecting too, small release. I'd love to be wrong here though, more terrain would be cool! Then again I never seem to get around to terrain, I've still got an Imperial Sector from like 2007 I haven't even built yet. I'm starting to think about all the terrain I have unbuilt/unpainted and it's a bit disconcerting.
  11. YEAH I'M DA MAN I CALLED IT!!! Just kidding I do think it's a bit funny that there was some controversy over something that came out to be true.
  12. Quick post today to show my paint scheme. I've almost got it as I imagined...though I've still got my work cut out for me as far as creating the clouds goes. I envision swirling clouds, with some parts of it dark blue/green and black with veins of yellow (aethergold) coming through. I'm still working on that, I spent some time last night dyeing cotton and just couldn't get it to come out right. The other thing I was going to do was swirling reds and oranges in the 'chamber' of the guns, but it was just too busy with color. That's too bad, as I'm going to be doing some different OSL around the model. I still have some highlights to do, and I want to create some more tonal variation in the beard.

  15. Yar mateys! So I think I mentioned earlier the influence for my army: So I had some things to think about. How am I going to do cloud basing? How do I make the ships look lived in? How am I going to come up with those tentacles? I've come up with some solutions (I hope!). So far, I've got the tentacles sorted at least for the smaller bases. The ships are going to require bigger and better tentacles and other cool bits and bobs. I'll cross that bridge when I get there, but I've got ideas for that too! So I made tentacles out of greenstuff...there really isn't a lot of info out there. This required some creativity and custom made tools. So what I did was cut a plastruct plastic tube down the middle (like a canoe). I then rolled up rough tube/tentacle shapes, and then put them into the tub. I pressed them in, to create the flat side while retaining the rounded side as well. For my second tool, I cut the bristles off an old paintbrush and removed as much of it from the ferrule as I could. I used this to impress the 'suckers' on the tentacles. With some cork and vallejo Dark Earth, my bases were sorted. They are now primed and ready for some paint!
  16. Seriously, it looks good. Try not to be a perfectionist (I know I have that problem, I hate something as soon as I finish painting it haha).
  17. Here are a couple thoughts from a guy who has 16k of painted Bad Moonz and an Ironjawz army: Try building up from a brown basecoat. XV88 is a great start. Like the illustrious and all knowing Dunc always says, thin your paints a bit more. If I look really closely, I think I see what is bothering you and that is a bit of streakiness and chalkiness. Thinning your paint and/or adding a medium will help. The most important part is to keep at it, and learn by trying something new
