  1. I have had the same thought about my Tzeentch daemons. Just keep in mind to focus on one god and that the 40K army would be almost twice as many models unless you use more than one greater daemons. Soul Grinders are a good port through as they can be used in Slaves to Darkness and Chaos Daemons. They have explicitly stated on the community site that they arnt going to be putting Chaos Daemons as they are in 40K in the HH or the Old World yet. If you like the durability of Plaguebearers then there are a lot of characters to buff them and the daemonic beasts they have are good chaff. I think Plague Drones in particular are a good stall unit that could give the other units time to move up field.
  2. I’m not sure I expressed it but by the time of the crusade the dark Aelves of Arranoc have all but been eradicated and the power of the sorceresses toppled. It’s a fitting end to such a necessary evil faction. These new wild riders will slowly become one with their faith in Allarielle and Kurnous and become Fey like beings so they will probably end up blue. I always loved the dark rider kit and they are the only unit left to Citys other than the hunters that fit the theme of Arranoc’s Crusade of newly born sylvaneth who flourished after the Rite of Life. These Sylvaneth take many forms with a great number of revenants and dryads who swarm in great hordes from hidden pathways and attacking from all angles at once like true masters of guerrilla warfare. The slow infux of human and Duardin reinforcements has brought more steel and gunpowder to the crusade causing tension after battle. I will definitely look into getting sets of both riders and hunters and see how i can make them treepeople-ish. I would also like to thank everyone who comes to take a look or leaves the odd like or comment it really means a lot and makes me want to continue in my hobby journey. Right now I have been stonewalled by a Goff Mekboy Orks army that is primed white. Maybe someone has some advice but I’m worried priming them again would ruin some of my older models that have been painted a few times.
  3. @JackStreicherthats really inspiring thank you it’s cool to see them out of the box.
  4. I got my own city but I gotta go either city that was grown over night
  5. I think the fusiliers are on 32mm based on this picture. It looks like they have the same size base as the warforger. Sorry the pic is blurry i don’t have the battle time
  6. I really like this. They used big portable shields with their firearms to protect fro arrows so I could see this being an awesome looking unit if you manage to get them to base up right. Have they changed the rules about basing and I didn’t know?
  7. Welcome to the Wargrove sylvaneth have a lot of ways to skirmish on their own. I would pick the CoS units you want then take the sylvaneth units that would compliment that playstyle. I want to use the spiterider lancers and cavaliers together to see how fast they would get stuck in.
  8. I’m glad designers today are finally stepping away from the Werner knocked style dwarf females they have on reaper. The women in this setting are often supposed to be life long warriors or survivoralists so being muscular only comes with that territory.
  9. I really like the new two hand weapons guys, they look suitably menacing. I’m glad they finally brought female Duardin out as well with the baby salamander
  10. Chaos spawn kits have a ton of extra tentacles and odd stuff like eyes and mouths you could try to use on the knights.
  11. I would model them to be able to proxy as the new units. Like how folks used to make armies with the various kits and covert proxies for a whole lot of the good units. Warhammer Community has featured quite a few. The army you are describing sounds like a Theocratic Misthavn and having read the short story about the scourge privateer going and getting revenge against her father I am all in. Don’t let speculation stop your creativity and if it comes to it the Ulgu Aelves might be these units ported right over. I at one time plotted a whole swifthawk agents army but they went and got rid of all their kits and broke that dream but then I jumped into the chaos stuff wholeheartedly.
  12. I’m sure they will have a way to have CoS duardin and Aelves as the multiracial factor has been a big part of what makes Cities of Sigmar who they are. I’m sure it will be either mixed race units or small units from Warcry but who know maybe that’s where they will base their new waves on down the road like how lumineth do with the temples
  13. That’s the same as it was in WFB atleast it’s not like other factions who only have 5-6 options altogether.
  14. Now I’m committed to converting it from the hand to his head
  15. You are completely right Doko, it could just be the language barrier that is causing the confusion. The Hearthguard rule explicitly states the ward can still be used after the wound is shunted off the character. where the Blackguard only get a better ward and hand one to the sorcereress nowhere that I can find does it say the black guard in particular can have the sorceress’ wounds shunted to them. So it seems the Fyreslayers have the better rule with the retinue mechanic but I’m sure the blackguard are what we can expect them to look like in the future to just do away with rules-bloat.
  16. I’m really hoping they have the helmet the head option as the cover art for the book looks too cool
  17. What’s sad is without all those mortal wounds Skaven would underperform. It sounds like you had a really bad streak of luck. A double turn and flubbing a bunch of roles sounds like how my games have gone. don’t give up because they MW you off the table look at it as a chance for vengeance. Back in WFB I played Skaven and I lost 90% of the time because of horde units of lothern seaguard and my abysmal luck so don’t think Skaven are always winning hahah. I know everyone says the artillery sucks but that or a suicide griffin Druid might be able to take out the furnace
  18. It would definitely help with their movement issues. The same could be done with gyros or melee units like the DE or Hammerers
  19. Anyone thought of using two Castelite battalions with living city to prop up two gun lines on a different side of the table to create pressure from two directions?
  20. I think they should get a fire golem and probably an Avatar a la the Eidolon of Mathlann where it functions similarly to the Eldar avatar but is a giant dwarf made of magma and fire. I think they should lead into the underground advance mechanic if they are going to compete with just blobs of slow infantry and so few skirmisher options. Perhaps they could add females duardin in a light infantry unit that moves up to stall and redirect so the Hearthguard and droths can get charges in afterwards. The runesmiter is a good source for deployment shenanigans but there should really be an army rule that allows them to do it with more units. It would really help them weather the first few turns of MW and alpha charges to counter charge once momentum based units get stuck in to blobs of berserkers. im not sure about flying tho unless they did it good.
  21. I think this is a great release especially when you compare it to other factions. They did say it was going to be a large one. I don’t understand why folks want to see more. They are encouraging proxing so if we want to use warrior priests or what have you there at places in the warscroll for every model. It sucks stuff is going away but like people have said we have known this was gonna happen ever since the launch of AoS and all the kits that have retired over the years. I miss the swifthawk agents and the boar Boyz that made me quit orruks and convert them to 40k. im totally ready for this release and I hope it gets me motivated to work on my projects.
  22. I began back in 2003 with some of the hugely disproportionate clanrats and a warlord that was my first horribly painted model which I broke the tail of on my first attempt to assemble it lol. The terrible lighting of my dad’s hotel room is likely to blame and not my shaky untested hands lol. Years later my childhood friend surprised me with the warlord and some of my original skaven army that inspired me to collect 9k points back in 7th-8th ed. Another friend and I ‘isle of blood’ed it so hard we played a 13 hour 9k high elf/lizard men vs skaven madness that left us both delirious. By the end of it 3 turns had gone by and we still had hundreds of models on the table though my rat men were outnumbered 2-1 lol
  23. Dark Riders of KurnotH Those in the darkling covens who spent their lives enthralled to powerful sorceresses were thrust into a whole new paradigm when their petty kingdoms were broken by the assault of the vengeful Duardin and slaughtered upen the treacherous altars of Khainite cults. A great number of wounded or lost thralls gathered together in one of the largest chambers they could defend. Soon their numbers swelled into the thousands and Khainite shadowstalkers found them. A number of them banded together and started an ordered flight from the ruined isle’s, all responding to their instinctual discipline instilled in them by their previous masters. As they fled into the forests the thralls preserved relentlessly for days until the majority could go no longer. As they gathered to account their supplies and survivors, they were approached by a Branchwych. She promised the aelves succor but it would come with a price. As they deliberated it became clear that a unanimous decision was made. Their spokeswoman gave the darklings’ counteroffer that they would be slaves for no one ever again but they would be willing to support the Sylvaneth in any way they would need. A symbiotic relationship that the darklings knew the Sylvaneth would approve of. Despite their efforts though the Branchwych countered with a single stipulation that they must devote themselves to Allarielle utterly or they would be eradicated there on that spot. She went on to explain that all of the Everqueen’ s children are wary of the words of Aelves as they are all duplicitous. With no other option the darklings conceded and were given succor in the tundra of the Glades of Midsummer. Within its massive stretches of blooming tundra life, massive herds of Swifthoof horses flourished under the Darklings’ protection. They soon mastered equine warfare becoming daring combatants who can single handedly take out packs of Great Fangs or Yhetees who like to prey on the Swifthooves. In the years since the fall of Aranoc and their near destruction at the hands of their enemies, the darklings were reborn under the Sylvaneth’s tutelage becoming devoted to Allarielle and adopting the veneration of Kurnoth in their role as the force that maintains the balance of nature either the Glades of Midsummer. As they move with the swiftness of the hawk the Riders have adopted the Raptor as their totem, likening themselves to the swift strikes the birds favor in the harsh tundra where energy must be conserved. As a force of many thousands the nomadic Riders camp close to the wild herds but never close enough to disturb their neighbors. With alert watches at all times of day the Rider tribes have now found a purer purpose devoted to the realm of Ghyran and the Everqueen. With a fanatic’s devotion they have pledged themselves to the Crusade of Arranoc in its mission to follow the Oaken King.
