  1. Wow- aelves riding desert  Taun-tauns... this is what I love about AoS, WHFB was brilliant but these wouldn't fit- love the otherness of these [a lancers option would be cool too]. Looks like the whole wind temple is getting a release which is more than I expected for Lumineth, a good sign for other factions that expansions are on the way. Could see Syvaneth getting an expansion with Kurnothi in the future [BR3?].

The Vampire .. really like her- the heavy armour, bats in her hair.. I have an old VC army with actually very few vamps as I didn't like GW's design -the big baldies didn't float my boat [I used a few reaper ladies and gamezone mournful knights instead] . These could be right up my street with lady blood knights.. really looking forward to the reveal- still think there is a dead vs hunters boxed game as well as the Soulblight faction. I wonder if we see thralls on foot as well as mounted knights.. with the Underworlds war band there will be a few varieties..

Honestly that preview looks (strangely) big...

AOS : Broken Realms : Teclis, with Lumineth Wind Temple preview

    WHU : Vampire Warband

??? logo : new Critters & Keys Warhammer Quest board game (Vampire, zombies, etc. vs Witch Hunters)

KT : Ecclesiarchy or SM vs Necron

    40k : Ecclesiarchy or ???

Adeptus Titanicus  : ??? (I alas don't follow that game)

Yeah thats what I'm thinking - although I'd love it if Killteam was vs new xenos rather than Necrons as they've just got a pile of new stuff..

I'm probably in the minority here but if the witch hunter, skeleton, draugr sneak peaks are all for Warhammer Quest, I would actually love that.

    Me too!!

@HorticulusTGA Oh god, you're probably right on the money. There are so many people hyped for a zombie faction now I feel like this is the perfect way to disappoint the most people.

Yeah but a vampire themed quest could be the precursor of a full faction later [with the added bonus of extra unique models for that faction like Tzeentch got through Silver Tower]

  3. Yeah I'm kind of hoping for a quest game as well as/instead of a full vamp faction - the vampire hunter fitting in with that. The Divine is probably the Ecclesiarchy [hopefully for Killteam vs Squats.. ok maybe over hoping there...😇].

Really intrigued with where the BR storyline will go next..

What we now know as the Mortal Realms would be 'bubble dimensions' and armies would fight when they bumped into one another.

If I remember the person who said this was right about most of the other "WHFB is being replaced with AoS" information.

I remember that as well. There was also the rumour of the WFB dwarf release would include plastic slayers, which didn't arrive but then Fyreslayers arrived later [hastings is convinced the slayer designers turned into fyreslayer models]..I also remember a poster on Warseer suddenly got some rumours - new shaven rat ogres with sci-fi weapons [turned into Stormfiends ], dwarf tunnelling machine and new lizard men models.. none of which materialised but he also talked about new marines.. Harry had to talk the rumours down bit which had me thinking this guy had seen something too far ahead to mention in rumours.. so maybe there are dwarf tunnelling machine and new Seraphon concepts sitting there [this was before AoS arrived- Harry new Lizardmen would be called something else and also that a sprue that popped up and was being labelled "squat" was "something stranger altogether" -I'm certain it was a KO sprue, I didn't recognise it then as they didn't exist at all].

So somethings are planned/sculpted years ahead but maybe not put into production straight away or repurposed into other things [digital sculpted files for example can sit for a while- Angron etc could be done on a file somewhere just not modelled up].

Also using Dobkine(cow bugs) as Freeguild Duardin insect cavalry or fire variants (like the Soulbound rpg Aqshy spider pets) for Fyreslayer cavalry would be a magnificent addition fitting the Mortal Realms armies too. :)

"Dobkine are a variety of bovine that are covered in chitinous armor. The duardin of Clan Halgrimm use them as beasts of burden, pulling large carts and wagons laden with war gear and supplies, as well as their field artillery.

They are squat, bovid creatures with chitinous armor and long antennae"

Love that idea of Duardin artillery platforms pulled by giant insects, makes for an interesting divergence from goat/boar cavalry , although someone converted up a yak-type creature for their Bugmansson reclaimers and it looked ace.. More critters though the better- ants and termites tunnelling has a definite link to dwarfs as well..

Kurnoth and his subjects I'm particularly interested in but they aren't really mentioned in the lore other than hints of Kurnoth himself.

    Rumour:

Indeed Vampires are coming. Part of their army will consist of current zombie and/or skeleton models. They are not the usual gothic, noble vampires. Expect a twist to them like some other armies received. Legions of Nagash will be transformed into something new, some models will be torn out from it. Shouldn't say where have I heard it.

I could see them coming with the existing skeleton kits but not the zombies - they are too old an dit looks like new zombies have been teased. I wouldn't mind them losing the bald vampire guy thing.. the Underworlds war band looks much more like duelistsrather than gothic nobles.. interesting to see how these go..

On a separate note. How good are these conversions by @Anthony225

I love those conversions - the slayer models aren't that far-off-trousers, no raised tattoos and no helmets make a big difference. Hoping for proper slayers/norse dwarf bezerkers for the new WFB.

I wanted to love them because I love slayers but to me these are slayers- I love the fact that they were deranged/punk rock dwarfs with Mohawks not crests. Fyreslayers are Mercs- they are more 300 than slayers. I agree the old slayers had loads of character and the new Gotrek is amazing. I'm not sure where they aregoingto take them either- as a range they need more variety. Its funny -I like the helmet designs, just not on slayers and they really, really need trousers[pants for our American friends]... I also think the embedded runes are too much- it breaks up the flesh too much making it tricky to paint. Slayers came from the norse dwarf berserkers -so the crazed fury is part of them, I don't think the faces or the awkward poses of the current slayers capture that.  The Mohawks were punk as well, a crest is just too formal, so they added two things -formality and cold stoicism which are the direct opposite of what slayers are. I think folks can like them as an interesting dwarf faction, but not really slayer faction, more a dwarf Spartan faction, which is fine but doesn't scratch the slayer itch for me. They could evolve the design away form that a bit with added elements of the culture that we haven't seen or have evolved [Gotreks return could spark that maybe?].

  8. I don't think thats the case at all- Covid slowing the release pattern down and it being a 40k new edition year have distorted things a little but AoS is way more interesting and diverse- Broken Realms looks to be a really interesting series [much better than Psychic Awakening ], AoS has 2 supporting smaller systems  In Warcry and Underworlds. 40k are slogging their way through Marine updates [although the Necron range looks amazing]. AoS is[to my eyes]in away better place with real quality releases and great variety. They might not push back the next edition either- they didn't for 40k, releasing it during a pandemic - a new edition is years of work and also gives a games system a new uplift so GW might not want to shift it. Then again production might be interrupted so they might not have a choice but I wouldn't fret about it and the Broken Realms books look like they are going to freshen things up in the meantime..

  9. I think the Lumineth will just get the 2 characters - it brings them in line size with most recent full army releases. On release each army seems to get 4 unit boxes, a large box, centrepiece pox, 4 character packs and a mounted character.  Lumineth are short a character and a mounted character.

    Kharadron  -                 Lumineth.               Idoneth                        Ossiarchs

Arkanauts     -               Wardens.                Reavers                        Mortek Guard

     Thunderers -              Sentinels                  Thralls                            Deathriders

Skyriggers -                    Dawn Riders.       Akhelian Guard      Stalkers

    Gunhauler-                   Alarith.                      Allopex                         Gothizzar Harvester

Frigate -                          Big Cow                   Leviadon                      Mortek Crawler

    Ironclad.  -                    Teclis.                          Eidolon                        Katakros

    Admiral  -                       Eltharion.               Soulrender                   Boneshaper

    Khemist-                        Scinari                      Soulscryer                  Soulmason

    Navigator-                    Stone Mage.          Tidecaster                   Soulreaper

Endrin Master-          ? [wind mage].       Lotann                          Vokmortian

    Brok-                                ?[tyrion].                  Volturnos.                   Arch-Kavalos

Maybe - Endrinmaster in harness. - ?? The odd faction has an extra character or can use older models but this looks like the template GW uses to build a faction. To me it gives a solid base0 there is enough units/models but not a lot of room to manoeuvre and you have toile all the models in a faction, lose a unit you don't like/isn't effective and they get very small.

How they expand beyond this -who knows - those 4 look like large complete factions they could add to with new units or build complimentary factions beside.

The smaller model count factions like fyreslayers, FEC etc - need either expanded or buddied up with another faction. I think Sylvaneth will get "expanded" through Kurnothi, Fyreslayers maybe through an allied new Dwarf faction. Maybe they will look at mini alliances within Grand Alliances as way of blending the model ranges together..

Large feet, not particularly stout or barrel chested, and overall just smaller than modern duardin/dwarf sculpts. I'd say Halfling.

Plus Halflings have that glutton side [2nd breakfast!] already so fit the role..

I think after reading around they might be Draugr. Think the Kvaldir from World of Warcraft.

"Draugar live in their graves, often guarding treasure buried with them in their burial mound. They are revenants, or animated corpses with a corporeal body, rather than ghosts which possess intangible spiritual bodies."

"In more recent Scandinavian folklore, the draug (the modern spelling used in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden) is often identified with the spirits of mariners drowned at sea. The creature is said to possess a distinctly human form, with the exception that its head is composed entirely of seaweed. In other tellings, the draug is described as being a headless fisherman, dressed in oilskin and sailing in half a boat (the Norwegian municipality of Bø, Nordland has the half-boat in its coat-of-arms). This trait is common in the northernmost part of Norway, where life and culture was based on fishing more than anywhere else. The reason for this may be that the fishermen often drowned in great numbers, and the stories of restless dead coming in from sea were more common in the north than any other region of the country."

I think thats what I really like about it- it doesn't look like anything specific from the past - it looks like a new dead thing we've not seen before.

I love the look of the vampire huntress- I agree with others that this looks like a Quest game vs Death which sounds brilliant, probably followed by a vamp army faction the same way as Tzeentch followed Silver Tower.

The lumineth- yeah next Broken Realms is Teclis/Tyrion, I thought the rider was Tyrion as a first thought but might be a mounted hero they are missing, the cloud wizard looks cool too. Betting /hoping Alarielle is Broken realms 3, the Return of Kurnoth for Kurnothi action..

All looks promising and that is an excellent centrepiece model for Slaanesh too!

Strange aside, but does anyone else really enjoy the use of Kharadron Overlords in the marketing material ala. Bugmansson Claus or their Update on Warhammer releases?

I like that they are promoting AoS but also that they are doing so with a unique army that works well for the messaging and not simply pushing SCE but allowing one of the other armies room to be shown off. I also feel like it hopefully hints at continued support for released factions within AOS*.

*heres looking at youTyrion and Fyreslayers!

Yeah I really loved all that this year [being a Kharadron fan]. It really deepens the feel of the setting.

For lockdown- I think manufacturing will continue - it has always been "work from home if you can.." and if GW has set up suitable precautions they can keep going, just at a slower rate- which seems to be what they reset up to do with a reduced release schedule.

For the reveals - I hope for Seraphon and lady vampire underworlds and hopefully a few other surprises which might catch my eye. Maybe Killteam with unique sculpts, perhaps Keys and Critters [quest] which could be exciting .

Although nothing points to it I'd love wee hint at something dwarf-y or Kurnothi..Intrigued at the next broken realms book. I actually don't think it will be Gordrakk as I think that is underlying story being set up for the 3rd edition the same way soul wars was- its going to be the next big story arc in AoS and the Broken Realms is just the set up.  Just a hunch..

  13. Man this looks so great- Bretonnia and Wood Elves so prominent ! I think having a good mix of races is what makes fantasy work so well [as it does in AoS]. Nice they are setting it in an earlier period. Really looking forward to seeing the miniatures they bring out for this - the leap forward in the quality of sculpts recently they could do amazing things. I wonder how will be plastic and how much resin? Norse Dwarfs/dwarfs/Wood Elves/Brettonia... all very appealing.. Plus the options of kit bashing across systems- a lot of these things could find their way into AoS..

Okay, the new Slaanesh models are absolutely gorgeous. And am I the only one who think the Seekers look really, really cute??? Probably their big puppy/kitten eyes. Like, I want one as a pet!

Also, man, the Hedontes....gnnnh they are gorgeous!!! I am in love! And guess that is exactly the reaction Slaaneshi followers would, well, try and elicit.

Yeah I love the new steeds , I actually like the current steeds but their mortal riders aren't great- looks like you might get two sets of riders from this kit so you can swap them over. But the new steeds Rea;;y are something else.

Death players about to rage quit and burn our armies. Lolz.

On serious note the new Slanesh stuff all looks pretty good.

    Merry Christmas everyone :)

I'd say they have held some stuff back so they can do a larger "what's coming in 2021" around new year and some of that is bound to be death..personally I could be persuaded by lady warrior vampires .. they were my inspiration for my VC army..

  15. Really love that Lileth model- especially how hard and cold the expression is on her face.

The Slaaneshi stuff is amazing as well -the riders especially very dynamic looking.

Not my factions but great to see these models coming out. I'm pretty sure they will do a bigger preview, streamed etc.., of what's coming in 2021 around New Year, nice to have more to look froward to.

I went for the Ogroid Myrmidon, absolutely gorgeous sculpt.

Had another thought about the rumour engines, as we seem to have a dualist and a witch hunter maybe it is a warhammer quest as they were both adventurers in the old one.

If they do something like Blackstone fortress and we get lots of adventurers, based on the old stuff we could get

Barbarian, wizard, aelf, dwarf, witch hunter, dualist, fyreslayer, warrior priest, questing knight, chaos warrior, aelf ranger, pit fighter, wardancer.

Yeah I'd love that especially If they did it with AoS factions -like a Kharadron adventurer [not just a thunderer etc..], a Kurnothi Blade dancer [wardancer] etc.. [explore unique characters for the factions/sub factions].

For the vote I went for Bugmansson, cracking model but I agree with a lot of the other options folk went with - the Zoat was tempting as was the Formoroid Crusher, there have been a lot if brilliant models this year.

    Undead? Skaven?

Being a banner, I'm more inclined to say its for AoS rather than warcry or Underworlds.

    XKTQV2F5gGZoCGUM.png

Looks like a Death faction- very Black Knights/skeletons -maybe a Vamp army after all .

Love those Lost Kingdom knights - could see GW doing something similarly epic if they ever get back to Brettonia..

  18. The hammer looks a little like a simplified comet form and that gloved hand looks, if human, very feminine . One other connection is the Warcry map has a symbol with a hammer and anvil with a halo over it- I had hoped for dwarfs but the halo is probable a sigmar faction- maybe free guild/scouting force? It looks to plain to be a dwarf hammer to me, really intrigued by this.

I would love that... wait... that lizard thing? 🤯

I keep thinking that my desire for space elves riding dinosaurs should translate into wanting to play seraphon but they need model updates almost as badly as Skaven. Maybe the underworlds set will begin my journey into Jurassic Park.

I still hope this death stuff is a Legions of Nagash update!

I agree I'm intrigued about Exodites - I'd hope they would be wild - like Wood elves WFB. The Seraphon are very interesting- some of their big beastie kits are amazing but they need an update- new skinks and Kroxigor in plastic. I'm looking forward to the underworlds war band to dip my toe in the range.

    • the arm with books
    • the staff

    • the scrolls
    • and the fancy boots (matching the back with bag symbols and same skull as on the holstered pistol)

Yeah could be a single inquisitor rather than a retinue..
