  1. *cough cough* Seraphon please *cough cough*
  2. Captain Planet faction confirmed! They already have the Hearthguard Berzerkers!
  3. Honestly, my first thought was the Hamburglar from the (really old) McDonald's commercials.
  4. It's clearly that earthworm faction that everybody's been clamoring for.
  5. Note that the indication on the website is identical to that of the Carnosaur/Troglodon, which is also still available via a Start Collecting box. The Carnosaur/Troglodon has been that way for several weeks now, so I doubt that one is being reboxed (just personal expectations -- I have no information on that).
  6. In matched play you can't mix -- even in the FAQ for reinforcement points you have to maintain one single grand alliance. Narrative or open, sure. Let's see some.
  7. The idea of attacking your own units, while not explicitly outlawed in the rules, does not seem to be intended. For instance, in Picking Targets, criteria are mentioned "to attack an enemy unit" but not for friendly fire. Further, if "a model splits its attacks between two or more enemy units" there is a discussion of how to roll those attacks. In Making Attacks, under 2. Wound Roll, the rules specifically mention the opposing player. In 4. Determine Damage, there is mention of attacks rolled at the same time, but "must be directed at the same enemy unit." To me, then, the rules do not explicitly outlaw attacking one's own unit. However, there are strong implications that you can only attack an enemy unit unless specifically directed otherwise (e.g., from the Wrathmongers' Bloodfury ability).
  8. I'd love to see, if not necessarily full allegiance abilities, spells, and artifacts, etc, at least provide different command traits for the different factions (e.g., Seraphon get next to nothing from the existing Order trait about rerolling battleshock, but the generic artifacts are fine).
  9. I never did anything like this before buying the existing AoS starter. The only thing that was explicitly not user-friendly was writing the instructions with the Lord-Celestant on Dracoth being the first model. They should be arranged in increasing complexity of construction (e.g., starting with the Liberators, ending with the LCoD). Otherwise, I didn't find it too daunting. Also, as @Still-young pointed out, it's good preparation for your standard model kits.
  10. I think it would be nice to see an army composition rule that no non-battleline unit can be taken more than your most populous battleline unit... This could prevent "spamming" of units that are perceived as "broken" by many in the community (e.g., Kurnoth Hunters, Savage Orruk Arrowboys), merely by making the Battleline units actual forming the battleline in your army. Examples: With 4x basic units of 5 Liberators (Battleline) [in any combination, so 4 units of 5 Liberators, or 2 units of 10 Liberators, or 1 unit of 10 Liberators and 2 units of 5 Liberators, etc.] I can take as many as 4x basic units of 5 Retributors, in any combination [so I could run 4x 5-man Liberator units and one 20-man Retributor unit, as an example]. With 4x basic units of 10 Dryads (Battleline) [in any combination], I can take as many as 4x units of 3 Kurnoth Hunters [in any combination]. With 2x basic units of 10 Dryads (Battleline) and 2x basic units of 5 Tree Revenants (Battleline), I can take as many as 2x basic units of 3 Kurnoth Hunters.
  11. I'm pretty sure that when I teach my kids to drive (thankfully I have another 8 years before this becomes a real option), I'll be saying this ALL THE TIME.
  12. @CentralKarma, I think it will ultimately lead to abuses of certain things in tournament play. As it stands right now, Sayl the Faithless is apparently a staple of most Chaos lists. Now you can use him while maintaining your Tzeentch allegiance! Or all Order armies will run a big unit of Kurnoth Hunters with bows, maintaining allegiance as they see fit. I think it's great to play "points only" among friends -- as you say, tossing in a unit of this or that without "breaking allegiance" is a wonderful idea when you know that your playgroup won't be seeking to go above and beyond -- but for true matched play, it's a difficult sell.
  13. A 4+ save on a zero-rend weapon (as in the used example) is a 50% chance, not 33% (which would be a 5+).
  14. Yeah, I guess he's the obvious missing hero from Stormcast (but apparently not obvious to me, since I didn't think of him at all!). Damn!
  15. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/02/23/closer-look-expanding-your-game/ Any ideas what (who?) they're talking about with the phrase "In the most recent White Dwarf, rules for the Tzaangor Shaman were added, and there is yet another hero on the way in March’s issue." Is there a new hero release on its way (preferably with an entire new army to back it, right, Steamhead Duardin fanatics)?
  16. But if you were to make individual purchases of the models in the box, the savings are definitely still there. I, too, would hope for a reduced price with respect to the Silver Tower, but I'm not expecting that to be the case.
  17. I think that in Matched Play any summoning spell should be able to regenerate a wounded unit of the same type, but at some penalty. So for instance, my unit of 10 Saurus Warriors has taken four casualties. I would be able to cast "Summon Saurus" to replenish the unit up to its original size (10 in this example), but maybe the casting roll could have a -2 modifier or something (so I would have to roll an 8 instead of a six in this case).
  18. I swear I saw a photo showing the price as US$50.
  19. Interesting that they're composed of existing battalions. I guess it's going to take some planning to get those chamber bonuses.
  20. The Warhammer Community post about it indicates that it includes "all the current Stormcast Eternals units," so I believe that's a yes. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/01/23/the-vanguard-of-the-storm/
  21. Just to be clear, a unit of 6 Gryph-Hounds has 18 wounds.
  22. I'll be really impressed when they release some Gryphopotamus riders...
  23. I'm definitely looking forward to trying this out with my play group. It looks awesome!
  24. I know, I just thought I would sarcastically point out the even more ridiculous example. I agree about the Judicators, but the two monsters are absolutely outrageous as battleline units.
