  1. What they do with the marks will be interesting. I can see them retiring it completely, similar to what you suggested. Another option, that I already posted here I think, would be adding a fifth mark for Archaon/undivided. Only an undivided army would be eligible for the allegiance stuff from the book and so on. The newer stuff e.g. Darkoath or Warcry cannot be marked at all. Which might indicate that marks are going away, that just low corruption chaos cannot be marked or that the marking mechanic comes from allegiance stuff/battalions. Overall, I'm really interested in what they decide to do with it. There are a lot of possible design decisions and a considerable amount of freedom compared to god-specific armies.
  2. No point in being senselessly negative. We know nothing and considering the current state of StD/Everchosen it can only get better. The only difficult part is the wait, it is entirely possible that a book is not even coming this year but early 2020.
  3. Furies and Untamed Beasts have something going for them but I don't see them being an auto-include or something like that.
  4. To be honest, the moment Warcry was announced for summer there was no way that a battletome would drop around the same time frame, at least for me ("rival" product that might take sales away from the boxed game, now chaos enthusiasts have to buy Warcry to get their fix). End of 2019 is now a pretty good guess I would assume. Some build up with a couple of "good" armies and then Archaon starts his campaign. Concerning squatting, I think StD and Everchosen stuff is rather save thanks to Warcry, art and books, at least the non-resin part.
  5. You shoot them. Celestar spam is one of the worst match-ups for Khorne (or ranged focused armies in general for that matter), regardless of what he is bringing. The more characters or big dudes he has, the better for you (at least in my experience). The Khorne player either has to rush you or play straight for objectives and nothing else. You kill about 1/4 or even more of his army every single turn without him being able to interact...
  6. I hate this thread, after the last couple pages there is no way I'll be satisfied...
  7. @AHTOXA I doubt I can give a qualified answer for your list but you should consider adding a Bloodstoker and maybe a Slaughterpriest for Archaon.
  8. Yes. Blood Warriors, Bloodreavers and Bloodletters are universal battleline in Chaos (among others, from different books) If you want to play the Bloodmarked Warband you can either run Everchosen or Chaos allegiance*. The latter makes a lot more sense because you gain nothing from Everchosen allegiance and Grand Alliance Chaos is more flexible. (I was sure that allegiances without abilities i.e. old books could use those from the grand alliance but I cannot find that passage in the Core Rules or FAQ currently, either way the result is the same) Just once, because of the "any" in the rule text. * Reason for this is an FAQ entry in the Core Rules and Everchosen FAQ. Bloodmarked Warband has Everchosen allegiance and everything inside that battalion would be Everchosen as well. Ergo you would end up with too many allied units to ever fit into a matched play list.
  9. Khorne can do this as well. The Wrath Axe judgement/endless prayer bestows -1 to hit to any non-khorne units within 3". It's arguably the best of the 3 judgements but it is usually only added if you have spare points. (i.e. not super frequent)
  10. It's just... I get a lot of you and I cannot refrain from typing out my frustration from time to time as well, but it gets old. The problems with BoK can be considered common knowledge by now (i.e. no baseline for discussion anymore) and are not going away anytime soon. Therefore, you either move on from an army or attitude standpoint (i.e. acceptance). Venting your opinion or frustration occasionally is fine and I'll most likely do that more frequent than I'd like to, but there are a couple of guys here that should just move on and switch armies. If for nothing else but their own sanity. EDIT: As a side-note, I don't like overly and constantly sugarcoating things either.
  11. Ignoring shifting playerbases due to newer releases for now... Khorne has a rather high amount of players/collectors due to them being one of two armies with which AoS started. There is hardly a player that's been with AoS since the beginning that does not have some Khorne models or even an army. While popularity ebbs and flows with releases, Khorne usually has a good and constant representation in tournaments (just look through the open lists of a couple tournaments on aosshorts or honestwargamer). There were some good performances when BoK2.0 dropped (mostly revolving around Archaon) but it has been rather quite recently (FEC, Skaven, Slaanesh taking the limelight). To answer the main question, except Gloomspite the powerlevel of the recent books is just beyond what BoK can produce reliably. Personally, I feel that all our possible setups are mostly okayish but have at least one popular army that will almost auto-win against it (which denies 5-0s, 4-1s and over all good results in tournaments).
  12. "Overpowered" seems like a stretch considering the current power level of books. More like "reasonable" or "maybe I am not getting slaughtered.
  13. Besides the Bloodstoker and Bloodsecrator... Slaughterpriest with Bronzed Flesh can buff either Archaon or your BT. Speaking of Thirsters, especially the flavour of the month BT of unfettered fury is really useful. Juggerlord is not really interesting anymore, he's expensive for what he does and his command ability cannot be triggered by Archaon. Realistically, Archaon will never be your general in a Khorne setup (abilities that are activated in the hero phase are surprisingly rare now and you would waste a command trait). Concerning the Deathrbinger, he's too hard to pull off for a buff that doesn't help that much. There are better and more impactful choices for 80-100p. Honestly, a lot of buffs come from the allegiance itself, like Locus of Fury, Blood Tithe activations, Reapers of Vengeance...
  14. Yes, he cannot but he is eligible for the other two Nurgle tables. Yes, it's probably a variation of a list that had some popularity last year. This might be an interesting read for you --> https://aosshorts.com/masterclass-darren-watson-on-archaon/ Keep in mind that this article is over a year old and it's not really played anymore in a competitive environment. Most likely due to not having enough damage output and DoK, FEC just chewing through even -3 or -2 to hit units. That being said, you could surely adapt it and play a really tanky Nurgle list, if that's what you want to do (some lists might be caught off guard hard by this).
  15. He pretty much stays base to base with Archaon or a Bloodthirster. It's not like you have to be in range the whole game, at some point it doesn't really matter anymore (especially if you alpha-strike for some reason, sooner or later the bloodstoker is a blood tithe point either way). That being said, it's not that difficult to stay in range with normal movement and the stoker running.
  16. And? For tabletops, there is certainly more than one aspect to derive enjoyment from.
  17. Khorne too, the Skull Altar is rather big and if we would have played according to GHB2019 I would not have been able to place it in my recent games. I expect this part to be redacted or changed significantly in a couple of weeks (FAQ).
  18. There is a section below that in the GHB2019, specifically for faction terrain. It strictly states that faction terrain follows the same rules as generic terrain placement (6" from edges, 6" from other terrain, 3" from markers, if not possible you cannot set it up). I expect this part to be gone or at least reworked in an FAQ, especially as seemingly we've been told to ignore it (via FB). To be honest, all this is probably only an issue in pick up games. In tournaments the TOs are in charge of the tables and set them up accordingly and in private games you can easily find common ground.
  19. I do not see me placing the altar successfully ever again lol. Except on a desert table...
  20. Not for every setup and considering the latest shift in design philosophy, command abilities that are activated in the hero phase are getting rare. Sooner or later his ability will need an FAQ or rework. Otherwise I agree with you, Archaon is definitely not a bad choice and I love him in Khorne currently. There is just so much stuff he can take advantage of... Reapers of Vengeance, Bloodsecrator, Bloodstoker, allegiance abilities...
  21. The real problem is that he doesn't (at least realistically) has is own army/book and doesn't fit in a whole lot of other armies (Khorne being the best host currently). The somewhat outdated warscroll comes after that (to be honest, the only thing being outdated is his command ability, which is sadly a big deal for some setups). Furthermore, pressing bigger models and special characters in the usual metrics is often not really productive. Usually these models are taken with the goal of combining them with allegiance abilities, spells or other sources outside their own warscroll. A common and rather faulty mindset that is often encountered with novice players or online boards, is the expectation that those models have to be equally or exponentially more powerful/killy than a similarly priced set of models. Ergo, they have this false expectation that fielding Nagash, Archaon and the like always leads to them automatically having the advantage because it's a 500+ model and they "should" kill everything they touch. That being said, metrics are always important but there is more to the game than that (especially when it comes to difficult to evaluate stuff like named characters, allegiance abilities and so on)
