  1. I`m loving the Kislev preview, but for the me the most exciting thing out of this is the realization that GW is planning on producing new models for the Old World. I had seen the new maps and desire to build a new game system, but I thought that they would mostly try to leverage existing model lines (if they did I missed it) I`ve never played Warhammer pre-AoS, but I`ve been dreaming about having revisited/improved Bretonnian models. I had been crossing my fingers that GW would reinvent the army of AoS, but now it looks like more of a possibility for the Old World. I don't care really in which world they end up, if I get new Brets I'll be over the moon! I would guess that all Tomb King lovers would rejoice at that news.
  2. I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned before/I've been living under a rock, but on GW's website the Aelves have all been grouped under one heading - a sign of a new BoC/LoN-type battletome to come?
  3. He is not cheap and doesn't hit especially hard, but as other folks say it can play another role. Its near invulnerability has won me a few games. And since he is such a big piece, he often gets a lot of attention from other players. The more experienced one have just left it alone... In the past, like many, I have used the combo Ignax Scales + Staunch + Castellant buff, making it near unkillable recently, I have replaced Ignax Scale by Smouldering Helm. So you lose the MW protection, but in return, with the Staunch + Lord-Castellant buff you get: - for every 6+ save, the ennemy receives 1 MW. - A Stardrake with Staunch and/or buffed with a Castellant will get a 2+ save, re-rolling 1s. So he's saving nearly 98% of all hits with no rend -Fully buffed, he'll do a MW back on a 4+. So basically, send him into a large unit, and that unit will probably kill itself by doing a MW on half of their attack, and then let the battleshock wipe out the rest. It is a great anti-horde weapon
  4. YOu are probably right. Whatever they are called, they don't look like squigs. A few folks mentioned that in the video, at 0.44, we can see in the background what seems to be one/two grots (one a standard bearer?) on top of a purple mushroom - could be another addition to that family, whatever they are called...
  5. From a gaming standpoint, I think that adding a lot more units to Spiderfang armies is a great thing - it will give more diversity and make games more interesting. From an aesthetics standpoint, Moonclan and Spiderfang Grots don't look the same (similar to try putting Ironjaws and Bonesplittterz together) - hopefully there will be a few new models that help bridge that gap...
  6. Maybe not, maybe so... Usually Underworlds follows closely the AoS factions. The Troggoth unit does have some feisty mushrooms and some flying squigs - this is by no mean a guarantee, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll see a few of those in the new GG models...
  7. Great thread idea! My 2 cents: for my Stormcast Eternals, I love the Realm of Aqshy, using the following items: Ignax's Scales on my Lord-Arcanum - that 4+ save against MWs (the bane of Stormcasts) is great to keep him alive longer, especially combined with his Steel Pinion Mount Trait (another 6 save fro MWs and Ws) ... But my favorite combo is the following: Smouldering Helm on a Stardrake with Staunch Defender and buffed with a Lord-Castellant: - for every 6+ save, the ennemy receives 1 MW. - A Stardrake with Staunch and/or buffed with a Castellant will get a 2+ save, re-rolling 1s. So he's sdave nearly 98% of all hits with no rend -Fully buffed, he'll do a MW back on a 4+. So basically, send him into a large unit, and that unit will probably kill itself by doing a MW on half of their attack, and then let the battleshock wipe out the rest. It is a great anti-horde weapon!
  8. On the topic of potential upcoming Destruction battletomes: - my only wish is that, whether it be through their own battletome our a 'soup' one, Moonclan grots have access to Trolls. I like big(ger) units in my army, and the 400pts of allies can be somewhat restrictive. Whatever happens, I'll be running the FW TRoll Hag I've just bought with Moonclan, but I sure would like it if I could get to play with cooler allegiance abilities and artefacts... - I do not know much about Bonesplittaz, apart from the fact that they like to hunt big monsters and theat they already have a (older generation) battletome. Having said that, visually they are pretty similar to Spiderfang Grots - naked greenskins with a jungle-type look and a love of feathers. Combining both, an elegant solution to a) give a proper home to Spiderfang and b) expand a bit the range of the Bonesplittaz and give them some mobile and larger units? Just saying...
  9. I am confident that Destruction will get the love that it deserves. As a reminder, last year Death was in a similar state, with a lot of folks complaining (rightly so). The LoN book unified the smaller allegiances and made them playable/competitive at a tournament level; after that came Nighthaunt, a full blown new faction. I'm not saying that GW will take the same approach for Destruction. All I can say is that I am confident that Destruction will get a lot of love over the coming months/year. The previewed Troggoth and Grots Nightvault units, the Fungoid Cave Shaman, the marketing bits they are releasing - everything is pointing in the right direction. Getting a unified greenskin book would not mean that Destruction would not get a separate faction. For me, the question is more if they will release new Destruction products before or after the Slaanesh release (which, if the last two years are any indication, will be January 2019)...
  10. Sweet - thank you for that!!!
  11. Ohhhh, now that is some interesting news... So, to confirm the Taularon costs 340pts? If so, then my hopes of it being a circa 12 wounds hero might come true...
  12. What has got me most excited is the last drawing. At this stage it is pretty clear that robed/magical Stormcasts are coming. We’ve had rumours of Stormcasts on flying beasts (I remember reading that someone thought that they were the most impressive GW models to date), but very little to support it... that last drawing does show a new type of dragon which is not a Stardrake. The Stormcasts have all types of animals symbols on their armor (lions, bears, etc), so this might not mean anything, but i dare hope that this drawing refers to a new flying mount for the SCEs... So, fingers crossed...
  13. I agree with recent posters that Stormcasts are generally depicted as the good guys. As @ledha noted there are indeed a few Malign Portents stories which depict the SCEs as ruthless and extremist in their fight against chaos; based on those stories one could argue that the Stormcasts are not good at all and have a very Spacemarine-ish view of the world. A good counter-example is the more voluminous Warbeast novel, which depicts the Stormcasts as very human, noble and good. They have a job to do and must always consider the bigger picture, but they always try their best to save everyone they can. So, at least in my mind, they are good guys, but with some flaws. Not being the purests of paladins makes them more interesting... my 2 cents ;-)
  14. LOVIN' IT!!!!! Looks great!!
