  1. The Warcry starter set does come with one of those nice thick cardboard folding ones, according to the product description on the GW web store. At least that’s something. Edit: Seems like even the GW webstore team can't believe it doesn't come with a cardboard game board. As Gitzdee pointed out, it's indeed just a folded paper playing surface...
  2. That ended up being more pricey than I had hoped. Yes, having the full rulebook and more terrain would have been nice, even if this pushed the price up a little.
  3. Welcome! May the light of Azyr shine down upon you!
  4. Concur with what was said earlier. Too short, needed another act. The first section was great though. Loved the Nurgle vs Flesh Eater Courts story, gripping stuff. Second section in Hammerhal Aqsha was good but didn’t quite hit the same heights as the first. Presentation is terrific throughout with glorious art and photographs. Was a fairly pricey book though, not sure if the value is quite there. Did enjoy it and it did set things up for an exciting series. Hopefully book 2 is more substantial.
  5. I play a Freeguild hunters heavy Warcry warband so I think these new guys are the bees knees. As others have said, very thematic and characterful.
  6. Just announced, on preorder this weekend!
  7. The web store occasionally has errors where temporarily out of stock items come up as no longer available. Given Sigvald is quite new and part of the main Age of Sigmar range, I’d guess he is just out of stock.
  8. We don’t really want the game to stand still. New models and armies and background keep the game exciting and alive. Eventually, our new models become old and then finally get updated or slip into the shadows. Age of Sigmar has a rolling time line. Armies have changed in the 120 years since the Realmgate wars and will continue to do so. I have played Age of Sigmar campaigns against the Tomb Kings and Sons of the Breton. I plan to continue playing with my old Empire models, standing in for the new models. I get the sad feelings, I really do. I just try and stay as positive as possible and remember that renewal is important for the health of the game.
  9. Maybe @Gitzdee, perhaps rules like what the rope bridges received in Heart of Ghur? Given the size of the game perhaps we will get some bespoke scenarios that focus around what is included in the set. I'd expect we will know quite soon.
  10. When those vampires came out, I remember thinking they were some of the best models citadel had ever done let alone best push fit models. As mentioned in the rumour thread, you don't get enough models out of the box for a standard game of Warcry. I bought Heart of Ghur and Sundered Fate but have no plans to paint any of the included war bands, (I play Cities). I bought those games for the scenery, rules and tokens. I don't have a problem with this set not including two standard warbands if it keeps the price low. Good to see a full card playing surface rather than a paper ones too. Others have mentioned the lack of climbable terrain. I also don't have a problem with this. I started playing Warcry 2nd Edition using the terrain I already had in my collection. Games were thrilling even without all the fancy rope bridges and platforms. Hopefully, this set will help others discover this gem of a game. Edit: Gitzdee pointed out to me that it is a paper playing surface, (oh dear...)
  11. A new starter set is on its way! Unlike last year's lavish Heart of Ghur box set, they have gone for a low price point introductory set. I found the tokens in Heart of Ghur essential for a good play experience. Those who jumped in after the box set sold out had to deal with the next THREE box sets not having the necessary tokens (🤦‍♂️). I think this set is great if the price is right. I also think the Underworlds war bands are perfect for Warcry and I am all for seeing more of them in the game. I do hope the core rules stay unchanged - they are just that good.
  12. Is this right for the base sizes? - Marshal and Warforger on 32 mm - Cavaliers on 60 x 35 mm - Freeguild Steelhelms on 25 mm Quite like that the big important characters have larger bases than the rank and file.

  14. Oh man, that new cities ogor is bonkers! I love it! 😃
  15. Totally, my preference would be four years between editions.
  16. Some of those leaked rules seem a bit incongruous. (If it was from a playtester, GW probably know which play tester has leaked it). Even if it is legit, unlikely this will be the finished version of the new edition. Pinch of salt recommended.
  17. Wow, what a fantastic looking game. It inspired me to light a fire under my Thondian terrain project I am working on. Really incredible the way the game brings my favourite location in the Mortal Realms to life. Would love to play it when it comes out. Super, super cool!
  18. I agree, I’d like to see something that plays direct homage to the 4th edition models personally. Just love them so much.
  19. Welcome! Nice to see new faces around here. 🙂
  20. I think the Fyreslayers are great. I have thought about collecting them myself. Probably getting a bit off topic though. Should we start a new thread?
  21. Interesting observations regarding the Era of Beast timeline @Clan's Cynic. When the Necroquake broke, I was starting a campaign in Ghur. I ended up changing the story to fit that event. (Wasn’t a problem though). The Era of the Beast definitely feels more sandbox which has been good for my campaigns. I have noticed they have slowed the passage of time too - realmgate wars over about a 100 years, Necroquake about ten years (if I recall correctly) and so far Era of the Beast has crept forward less than a few years (?). I wonder if they are deliberately going to a model that advances the plot through new editions? Easier for everyone to stay up to date on the timeline the way? P.S. Getting my narrative plot kicks from Warcry, we are getting close to arriving at Talaxis now… P.P.S love the lizards!
  22. On the old models thing, I love those old Bretonnians and Tomb Kings. I think they are really cool. Up close, yes I can see the things that could be improved. As armies, I think they both look fantastic. Probably nostalgia but if any new models don’t look the same as the old ones I think I will be disappointed! 🙃
  23. Good, well made points. I can’t see myself wanting to go back to the Old World again but I hope all who do have a wonderful time there. I am just loving the Mortal Realms too much to leave.
