  1. Looks like Dark Sphere have come through with my Darkoath box 🤙🏻 Wasn’t overly worried as the AoS ones don’t tend to disappear in 30 seconds but I’m probably driving at 10am tomorrow morning so at least I won’t have to explain to the police why I was on my phone…

Is it that odd? After all this is just the army set and as most army sets, its coming first with the individual releases at a later time.

Gunnar will likely release together with the individual releases of the army set units and probably DB6.

He’ll come with DB6, the last 2 similar sets (Blzcktalons and the Callis and Toll ones) came with DB books as well. But I think the gap between army sets and individual releases is longer than I’m expecting the wait for DB6 to be - it’s usually about a month at least isn’t it?

Then again they new Gaunts are package as 10 (technically 11 with the random ripper swarm)

I think Clanrats are pretty safe for 20s because the sculpts we’ve seen there were 13 bodies with no double ups I could see. Obviously they might get a separate kit from the starter ones (it seems pretty random as to whether starter units get a full kit or the push fits) but Clanrats seem like a quintessential 20 man unit to me.

Both Gaunt units were only sold in 12’s anyway I think for years before the new kit (because they came 4 on a sprue), whereas Clanrats are in 20s now.

Darkoath box is a must buy. I'm guessing a lot of other people will feel the same and it could be a race to get a box Saturday morning.

I’m hoping it’ll be okay, AoS ones don’t go like space marine ones do. The Kroot one is still fairly easy to get from retailers in the UK.

I have the feeling Dawis would be "delayed" due to the Ruination box, so they would come in July or August.

They wouldn’t have announced them and showed the stuff off yet if it wasn’t coming til that late.

I hope it’s the Darkoath box today. Really tempted by that as a lil birthday treat (which I say about everything I buy like a month either side of my birthday)

How many of you like the concept of a "necromunda like game" but actually don't play Warcry?

Because we, the players (at least all my gaming circle) are comfortable with the game, would like minor tweaks (and don't like the removal of our warbands, because we have a lot and don't want them to become unplayable).

Again, my point being: Are you playing Warcry these days and think Necromunda style would be better, OR you don't play Warcry and think Necromunda rules would make you enter the game? Thanks for your responses in advance.

When I used Necromunda like game, I didn’t mean the rules at all. I’m fine with the Warcry rules. I just mean a more self contained setting with bespoke models.

Or, eliminate most of these game and focus solely on wargaming. The amount of synergy they try to force across all of their games is maddening

Synergy across games seems to be almost the opposite of how GW work, especially with like the Old World/AoS divide…

A 4 year cycle really does feel like the best fix to me. In the future they could have 4 main games; 4Ok, AoS, Old World and Horus Heresy and 4 side games; Warcry, Killteam, Necromunda and Bloodbowl. Put all of those on a 4 year cycle and they still have 2 major releases per year. Then they also have underworlds, middle earth, Legions Imperialis and warhammer quest that they can put out on an irregular schedule.

I’d rather Heresy, Old World etc weren’t pulled into a regular edition cycle at all tbh, but I’d much prefer 4 years for AoS and 40k than the three years.

Chaos-only Warcry = zero interest. I used to check this game out in the past and only started playing once GW pivoted from this weird initial choice.

Personally it’s not about it being Chaos only, it’s about the lack of emphasis of the models made for the actual game, and the watering down of it as its own thing. I like the warbands they’ve made for it for factions that aren’t chaos, but I don’t like the fact that a jumble of order models from the main game perform better than the cool models they specifically designed for Warcry.

I don't think ogors are really in danger but I don't think ToW is actually the measure of safety with cities dwarves, slaves to darkness, and gloomspite gitz all sharing kits across their ranges.

It seems like that argument only applied to beasts for some reason.

I don’t imagine the CoS dwarves will stay for long, and StD and Gloomspite have old versions of most (all?) of the models in the Old World lists that they’ll release.

I would love a "Necromunda" style game set within the Mortal Realms. As others have mentioned I think Warcry has pivoted to be a way for units to be released for factions outside their AoS release windows. The mechanics of the game are solid and with the removal of some of the Chaos Warbands, it frees up space to explore other units.

I have nothing against Underworlds but just see it as the logical area that might see a "replacement" if it's the case that Gw would rather replace a system than start up another one.

A Necromunda-style system with different seasons set in renowned cities across the realms would be cool.

This is why I was never happy with the way they opened Warcry up and let you use models from AlS factions in the game. The rules were obviously very different but it felt more like an AoS Necromunda equivalent. I liked it as a narrow focused game with bespoke models. I don’t mean I necessarily wanted it kept Chaos only, I’ve no problem with the Warcry warbands for other factions, but it bothers me that warbands made up of normal AoS models seemingly tend to be better than the bespoke units actually made for the game.

Possibly these Battleforces are to sweeten the pill of only getting a single model with the new codexes?

Just seems like they’re finding increasingly expensive ways of locking new single models behind old model purchases to me.

there are huge notes of pestilens, Eshin, and Verminous(?)/the martial clan on the designs?

which means you have the opportunity to mix and match to make clan-specific units it seems

There’s not really. There are minor details that hint at the clans (a hood, a crest and some pustules), all of which were present in the previous kit.

Gotta disagree with you on that. Hoods and pustules are common in regular Skaven too; I really don't think their design is pointing out at a merging of clans, but we'll see.

Yeah I think it’s maybe a fun little nod to Pestilens and Eshin at most, not actually those clans in one unit. Hoods like that were in the old kit and most of them there had pustules to some degree.

I hope it doesn't happen like what happened with the Gaunts, that at first look the new ones were looking like nothing changed.

In person though they’re so much better. The overall design was fine anyway, all they needed was exactly what they got, a modern remaster.
