  1. If this comes to pass, It would be wonderful! - I have around 80 or so Orcs from this era just waiting to be re-based on to rounds.
  2. Well, I have to admit that what drew me to Illiatha initially was the (albeit small) lore. It felt like the Nation that was closest to the ideal of balance and harmony following the fall - the reference to Mothers of the Spirit aligning with my love of Wanderers, of which I have a full army and no real place to put them. I've tried, but Wanderers from a city doesn't work for me. I do think, though, that from a playing perspective, they could likely be stronger in 3rd edition, if some of the rumours are true. If Inspiring Prescence disappears and/or 40k battleshock comes in, then that +2 bravery suddenly looks much more useful and units less needful of a hero to chaperone them. Likewise, there is talk of units, with some exceptions, being capped in size so the opportunity to affect 2 units with one Command Ability would be something to plan a strategy around, perhaps 2 units of Sentinels next to a Shrine so no CP spent at all. The CA they gain is just right for Sentinels and there is a distinct possibility that the generic rerolling 1s to hit CA may disappear too. Also, as I said, I like the flexibility it allows when creating your general. Include a Battalion and you could have any variant of General you like: an 8 wound Stonemage with a 4 up against spells; a Cathallar (or Loreseeker?) with 2 spells from the lore and 2 casts, or 2 casts with a reroll; A 2 cast Windmage with a 5+ DPR. Even without a Battalion, the Artifact you have to take isn't bad - an 8 wound Stonemage becoming a 16 wound Stonemage on a 4+ may be enough to make them a less optimal target. Under the current edition, I agree they are not as strong as Syar or Zaitrec, but that could all be about to change and anyway, their Lore drew me to them and helped to fill my Wanderers' void. I'm sure I will try out others from time to time, once playing is possible again, but Illiatha is where my heart is.
  3. I always considered it a mass prison breakout, rather than complete destruction of the oubliette. It does say "Some souls were trammelled once again", so some of the gaolers must have been still around to recapture them and put them back in their cells.
  4. I'm wondering whether the maximum of +/- 1 is an overall maximum, but can be affected still. For example an enemy unit has +1 to hit; it may be possible to put -2 to hit on that unit, bringing it back to an overall -1 to hit. If that is the case, then there will still be play in having multiple ways to modifying a roll. I also have a feeling that bravery and battleshock are going to be overhauled in 3rd ed, possibly like 40k, so I'm happy sticking with Illiatha with their +2 bravery. Given that this tome was written with 3rd in mind, I'm hoping that bravery will not be affected by modifier restrictions. It's also the only Nation that allows you to choose your own Command Trait and I like that flexibility. The artifact would also be nice on a Loreseeker, if the FAQ goes in our favour. I'm personally quite looking forward to the new edition. It'll be here before I've painted 2000 points of Lumineth that's for sure - I'm only just reaching 1000 now.
  5. The chapter in the book that describes the fate of the Sigmarite Brotherhood is called "Ruination" - just saying....
  6. Thanks, that makes it clearer - I use Google Chrome. I've only had a smartphone for a couple of months (after years of resistance), though gradually getting used to it. I'll have a look into how to refresh. The main thing is I still have access to this site, so any inconveniences are minor issues. Thanks for the breakdown. Every time I think I'm getting the hang of it, it all changes again, but that's modern life for you. (I really must learn how to do more emojis)
  7. I have a query about the ballistas. Do the Blinding bolts also do damage in the same way as Starshard bolts or do they only give -1 to hit. You still have to hit and there is only one attack profile, but they are called different names. I like to err on the side of caution, so don't want to gain something I'm not supposed to.
  8. Thank you for the your breakdown, It has been very clear and helpful. I saved it to "comments I haven't read", but it kept taking me to page 1 anyway. So I changed to "take me to last comment" and that works. I have a tick next to "mark site read" and I'm wondering whether that is the problem, but I have no idea how to undo it if it is. If this is the issue, any help in undoing that would be greatly appreciated! Otherwise, I can live with what I have . Thanks again.
  9. I have no idea what a cache is or where to find it, I'm afraid, and I have no idea what browser I have - yes I am that ignorant . When my child returns from uni, I'll ask them for another crash course. I have managed to get it to take me to the last post each time, so that's a bit of improvement.
  10. Hi. Since the site update, I am being taken to page one on every thread I go to, no matter how many times I go to any particular one. Before, it would take me to the last entry I had read. Can anyone give me (simple) instructions on how to fix this. I'm sure it's something I have done as the change took me by surprise and I probably clicked something I shouldn't have done. Thanks.
  11. I would love it! Give me flying Grots! - and I don't mean from a catapult.
  12. The warscroll of the unit using the Endless spell has a movement characteristic, therefore the unit can move.
  13. Brings back wonderful memories of when Grots were among the best with bows. That was Gitmob, of course with their +2 to hit with 30 or more and a shaman casting thier spell of "Sneaky Stabbin" giving +1 to wound and +1 rend. In the most heady days, you could cast the spell more than once!
  14. If it was Morathi (or Malerion), Allarielle would have said traitor in our ranks, since She is also part of the Pantheon. I would say, therefore the traitor is either a Lumineth Realm-Lord or an Aelemental. So far I haven't come across any indications as to who it is in BR: Teclis, but currently reading "The End of Enlightenment" and there may be something in there.
  15. Although I like the Bladelord models, I have 20 Spire of Dawn Swordmasters still on sprue who have been waiting patiently for many years and I am not a millionaire. So, they will be my new Bladelords. I am assuming they are on 32mm bases, but could someone confirm this before I actually put them together. Thanks. (Now waiting for a Vanari Regent on Gryphon to be released )
  16. I agree. In fact, I find it irksome. It's just sloppy. I've started to just think in terms that they're not from whichever Nation I'm using (1st choice Illiatha) rather than that they're from somewhere in particular.
  17. I reckon that should work. Gold and siver are the standard go-to, so maybe a brass, bronze or copper would stand out in an overall theme. It wouldn't have to be much, just enough to show through when the units are all together. This is a really interesting concept you have. Would love to see the results, if that's ok.
  18. This is a bit of a tricky one. As you say, Ymetrica for Alarith and Helon is the obvious one for Hurakan units. After that it's not so straightforward since the Vanari are the standard troops for all the Nations. You could have the Scinari from Zaitrec, as that is the wizardy one, and any Bladelords as bodyguards. Perhaps Vanari Wardens and foot Heroes from Syar, since that seems to be the more melee killy one judging from it's abilities. Sentinels and Ballistae (and foot Heroes) from Illiatha, as the abilities seem to encourage units to be close to each other and both can do that relatively easily. Dawnriders and Lord Regents from Alumnia as that makes use of movement abilities and Cavalry are all about movement. Unifying them all with matching bases is a good idea. Each Nation is large enough that there will be commonalities among all of them. As for a unifying colour, I'm not sure. White is already taken, perhaps black? Or use the two main colours for each Nation on cloth, but have the same armour scheme throughout. Anyway, hope that helps in some way.
  19. I like to think that not all the Wanderers retreated to Azyr during the Age of Chaos and that some tribes (perhaps those dedicated to Kurnoth) remained to fight with Allarielle. The Kurnothi could be their descendants, kin to modern day Wanderers but distinct from them. There is no canon for this that I know of, but it would make a plausible explanation. I live in hope (as does my Wanderers army )
  20. They can, but they are only allies. I mean in the same way that 1 in 4 units in a Living City army can be Sylvaneth; gaining the CoS and Living City keywords and so gaining the abilities associated with the army. They wouldn't just be allies, but an intrinsic part of the faction.
  21. The last model I painted was a Sentinel, so I reckon I'll be fine.
  22. The artifacts and command traits have been updated. The thing is,if something is missing from BR: Teclis how am I supposed to know it's missing? So, I am reliant on those who have both to see any discrepancies. Also, if an opponent wants to see a rule, what do you say - "well, it's not in either of these books, but I am reliably informed that the rule exists"? It really means I will have to buy the new battletome anyway, if only for peace of mind.
  23. So, basically, what your saying is that having the first battletome and BR: Teclis doesn't give you all the rules to play LRL. I do not have the new battletome and now I'm wondering if there's anything else I'm missing.
