  1. I stopped playing AoS 3rd edition. Rules are too complicated and often feel meaningless. Fantasy was/is far less complicated then AoS 3rd edition. Fantasy was large core rules that applied to all armies equally with minimal battle tome special rules. AoS 3rd is insane amounts of special rules on every facet of everything, core rules not that big. It's harder to memorise, for your own army or your opponents. New battalions suck, I hate making lists and remembering the rules. The new command point system suck, I hate playing and remembering it. Make a fantasy Warhammer army list and a AoS 3rd army list and try to tell me with a straight face that AoS 3rd is easier. You didn't have to pick your temple/tribe/special flavoured race rules up front, you don't have to pick triumphs, realms capes or grand strategy, Then pick which type of game your playing with which special rules attached to which battalions, then pick your spells and priest spells. Then remember what special interactions each warscroll has in the various phases of each turn, because you might forget that special interaction. On top of that you have battle plans with their own special rules and conditions. Fantasy had "wipe him out before he wipes you out". Don't get me wrong fantasy was not a popular game by the end, but complexity is a lie at this point, AoS is more complicated then 40k and I still play 40k. AoS models are awesome, the world and fantasy building up over time is awesome. Pity I cannot enjoy any of the gameplay of it. I've loved every model release for 3rd edition so far. Just do painting and collecting from here on, not building armies when it's no fun for me to do so. Anyways adding my discontent to the whingers thread
  2. Going off AoS 2 death focused releases, we had 1 new death army per year 2018/2019/2021(covid delay). I would be thinking to see it go kruleboys 2021 then Drogrukh 2022 then grots 2023/2024. The other destro factions prob get a hero and battletome like idoneth and slayers. With slaves2dark / sylvaneth already keyed more units. I think beasts of chaos and khorne are quite possible for more stuff based on core rulebook hints. Ossiarch hinted at the stalliarch horsemen mortarch in this edition. Skaven vs malerion are keyed for nearer 4.0, maybe pre leadup. Skaven could get beasties in the Clan moulder hints. Anyways thats my rambling thoughts based on the published books so far. They did flush out drogrukh in the warhammer article with kragnos then they are mentioned in the Orruk warclans battletome in the realm of ghur section. They are popping up alot after kragnos and like Nagash fitting in directly with ossiarch I feel that kragnos will fit in very much with the drogrukh release.
  3. Im going to speculate on the tomes reveal and say that Drogrukh are coming to destruction. Similar to how at the start of deaths release we had night haunt lead into ossiarch and finally soulblight. I think we see kruleboys lead into Drogrukh and possibly finishing with grots after Kragnos weakens at the end of the beasts era.
  4. Well from the hints in the core rulebook for 3rd edition. Clan Eshin vs Malerion was heavily inserted into the story. Clan Moulder getting new beasties from era of the beast was in the skaven section. Beasts of Chaos were first to respond to the new beast energy. Sylvaneth were empowered from their victories in the campaign so far. Blades of Khorne are ascendant in the era of the beast. Fyreslayers were feverishly collecting Ur-gold for Grimnir's return (probably 4th edition release from the writing) So all of those getting some love this edition makes sense to me, except fyreslayers who they are just teasing a longer term release.
  5. Doesnt look like 4+s to hit to me. 4 attacks 3+ 3+ -1 2dmg 1 attack 3+ 3+ -1 1dmg 1 attack 4+ 4+ 0 1dmg Looks to me like the flail gives 1 additional attack, the shield offsets 1 attack with a better save or something else.
  6. Removal of Battle line as mandatory unit choices. Replace with Behemoth(2+) for mandatory unit choices. Ensure all armies have access to Behemoth choices. Go over objective rules to ensure behemoths are now the mainstay of armies instead of blobs of infantry. Removal of textbook spell lores from the game. Replace with Endless spells only, with removal of points costs for endless spells. Remove ability for opponents to move your endless spells, Your choice or random directions instead of enemy directed. Theses are a few changes I'd make to the game to make it interesting to play. The fantasy style infantry/archer/cavalry dynamic is dead and will never come back in AoS with skirmish formations. Most suggestions just try to shoe horn 40k ruleset onto AoS, but why compete against your own products. My suggestion is to focus on Age of Sigmars strengths, which is the Gods and Titans aspect with foot soldiers being stuck in between these great powerful beings, it feeds into some of the Greek Mythology vibe, so make behemoths mandatory instead of foot soldiers, Not only is the game easier to play with behemoths it's far more enjoyable in my opinion. The Endless spells are also a unique aspect of AoS that aren't being utilized as heavily as they should be, in a skirmish game the ability for a model spell on the field to affect multiple units is unique and interesting, the Fantasy style Buff/Debuff magic system is atrociously bad and just stacks more power onto large awful infantry blobs with stacked buffs/debuff gameplay. Anyways none of this will happen, but you did make a thread asking.
  7. Alarielle is an Aelf goddess of life. She just abandons all the aelves in the lore. Games workshop posted the Aelf pantheon and she’s in the picture. The broken realms article states that the Aelf gods are rising against chaos and Alarielles named next to Morathi and Teclis.
  8. Aelves are basically the space marines of fantasy. Storm cast failed to be as popular as elves. So they do a big campaign of elf setup. I mean essentially they have 5 elf armies to setup into the story. Sylvaneth Daughters Lumineth Idoneth Malerion shadow elves. So the big army release we know is coming aligns with this because Slaanesh who is the ultimate elf villain is getting a major model release and update in the next few months potentially. Surrounding this Aelf campaign. We already had Morathi, Alarielle and Idoneth in the book 1 of the campaign. But Idoneth and Alarielle were not resolved at all. The hint on the warhammer article basically tells us to expect a lot more Alarielle and Teclis. So it is logical to conclude more Aelf love to come.
  9. My theory is it’s just an Aelf campaign as stated in the warhammer community article. Alarielle is soon, she spurns her allies because they are not helping and after the realmgate that Morathi opens.... she goes full angry bee mode. Probably allies with the new Kurnothi fae aelves as the mortal part of her tree “daemons”. Enemy update is nurgle and some warscrolls there. Prob zero model releases really, just lore setup for her kurnothi update. Slaanesh rising more in the story again. Teclis after that maybe with trying to tame slaanesh as he is rising with the mortal release coinciding as the big bad of the aelf pantheon. Tyrion rocks into the scene with some hints of the second Lumineth Realm lords release. Slaanesh fights the lumineth forces. Finish with Malerion and the shadow aelves. Full army release around the same time frame or following his introduction into the story. Tyrion teclis enlist Malerion for assistance against Slaanesh forces. Probably mix in some other armies along the way, or maybe Gorkamorka shows near the end and pummels slaanesh face in. Anyways that’s my speculation.
  10. Nobody knows the formula for designing a Fun game. People have tried for a very long time. But I do know that any game designed using statistics isn't a fun game for very many people. Games workshop makes more money then any other competitor and they don't do this level of competitive statistics. To change to this idea of designing would actually destroy the fun in this game and reduce their player base numbers to their competitors levels. So be careful what you wish for. It just might come true.
  11. Looking forward to seeing all the new Minis this year. GW has teased a large amount of new releases this year. Considering that Lumineth look like a 10+ kits model release means they will have some very interesting kits coming.
  12. I stopped playing sigmar because the game has no balance. It's entirely based on newer armies being stupidly power creeped with some massive random chances determining your fate. This is casually played amongst a group of friends, pretty much died after Legions of Nagash battle tome onwards came out.
  13. Let me know how blaming the player works out for you. That beast men player clearly showed his strategic genius on the battlefield with superior unit choices that could crush him in a single round of combat. My point that's relevant to this thread topic is that Double turns have existed since the start of sigmar but the movement and damage capabilities were never this high. When you cannot rely on winning a double turn you do the next best thing, You wipe the opponent off the battlefield so badly and so fast that the double turn becomes irrelevant. Just wait until your army gets a little old and they nerf you like they did beastclaw raiders and bonesplitterz, suddenly your high damage build doesn't work or it costs too many points to do the same damage it once did. Then you can join Ash in the "weak af roster" section of the gaming group. That next shadow elf/light elf battle tomes will surely bring in the great new meta of even higher damage numbers and even faster movement with pure teleporting into melee range style rules.
  14. First turn murder armies is definitely a problem that has stopped me from playing. Just watch guerrilla miniature gaming latest sigmar battle report of Beast of Chaos vs Stormcast. if you couldn't be bothered here's the quick take: Stormcast goes first turn: Shuffles forward. Beast men goes: Shuffles into position. Roll off for turn 2: Beast men wins roll. Beast men goes: Wipes out most of the stormcast army. Takes enough objectives to win the game. That is not an ideal game scenario to play as the stormcast player, if this sort of game play happens to any new prospective gamers then the game will shrivel and die. It's not an uncommon occurrence either in my opinion. Sometimes its less severe but the win/loss is the same. Most of this has occurred with damage creep in the newer battle tomes and less to do with double turns.
  15. Just a couple notes about the Kurnothi that people seem to be missing. 1) Kurnothi are "aelf-like" but not aelves 2) GW did confirm they are not aelves on facebook 3)The Satyr models are actually quite large in real size, close to stormcast size. Although it's possible some of the wanderers could fit in with this new faction like the witch elves mixing with Melusai concept, my personal opinion is that it is going to be a Idoneth Deepkin style release. Many people speculated that the corsairs from dark elves would survive into idoneth but they did not.
  16. Well looks like i was super wrong about the centaur being for beasts of chaos. Those beast men look awesome. Not personally loving those beast elves. I like the idea more then the execution.
  17. 1) The only other model with it is a Warcry model 2) Warcry is Chaos themed with "more warbands coming" 3) Centuars are chaos based in "beast of chaos" battletome
  18. I'm very keen to give these a go. They seem a lot stricter on rules then the current 2000pts games are, I'm getting pretty tired of spamming the most effective warscrolls as many times as possible. I think the 2 warscroll cap definitely is something that appeals to me personally. Similar with the lack of 30 model units, a lot easier to move 10-20 models and the bonuses don't stack so highly on effectiveness either. I'd love to see the rest of the rules like the battle plans for these types of games, see what they did with objectives and rules surrounding those.
  19. I was toying with a similar list to the Lords of the Clan battalion but: Heartwood Grove TLA 300 TLA 300 Arch Rev 100 20 Spites 200 5 Tree revs 80 5 Tree revs 80 Treelord 200 3 bow kurnoths 200 6 Sword kurnoths 400 Lords of the clans 60 Vengeful Skullroot 40
  20. Well the wording indicates a single drop of up to 6 trees in size, which is 2 current plates. but you could theoretically drop 4 or 5 trees into the ring depending on how big you need it to be, making a single large size tree section.
  21. yeah it would be 2 by 6 trees. Which is the equivalent of 2 current tree plates in size, each tip has to touch another tip.
  22. The new awakened woods is 3-6 citadel wood models. So technically we get 2 circles for free then each treelord ancient summons 1 awakened wood with is 3-6 more citadel wood models. So thats 12 trees in a ring for 1 treelord ancient guaranteed.
  23. Tbh I'm super happy with these changes overall. Brings the army forward a lot for me, I've been struggling to enjoy my sylvaneth games for a little while now with such crazy profiles coming in AoS 2.0 battletomes.
  24. Yeah warcry is shaping up to be really good. The addition of 9 armies outside the chaos selection is going to be really good. Slaanesh daemons look great, finish all 5 gods in chaos now. Fyreslayers release was pretty ****** for the army, endless spells and terrain only for an army of clones. I'm in general getting pretty tired of cheap terrain and endless spells from china coming out for every army. Also the original terrain was grown trees with sylvaneth or maggotkin but now they are dragging the equivalent to the black pyramid to the table somehow (magic?). Slaanesh looks amazing.
  25. Yeah its a terrain and fire golem for fyreslayers. Terrain is a dwarven head sculp with its mouth open
