  1. If Nothing is -1this is true, but once things are -1 to hit it changes the math. You go to an average of 1.6 wounds with three ballistas and 2.2 with two ballistas and an ordinator. With Nurgle, DoK, and all heroes running around getting -1 to hit, this is a consideration. Yes, 3 Ballistas and 2 Ballistas plus an ordinator are the exact same amount of wounds dealt on average , as long as there are no negatives, it is 40 more points for the same outcome, but as soon as there are -1s to hit rolling around it changes things. I like the ordinator as I often use the ballistas to take out things such as necromancers hiding behind skletons. Not to mention, an ordinator can take artifacts, his command ability is still amazing, despite not being as good as it was, and he can score objectives in three places of power.
  2. I Disagree. I have been running him with two ballistas for about 8 games now, and he has been amazing.
  3. I'll be replacting most of my paladins with evocators when the new multi-part kits come out.
  4. As I said above, we had 8 players playing tonight, and a a discussion up that I believe are worth talking about here. First of all, were were thinking of maybe doing a extra underdog gambit for every 100 points you are down, rather than only gaining access to a second one if your opponent is double. For instance if you were at 150 gold and your opponent was at 250, you would get one gambit for being an underdog, and a second for being down 100 gold. I think this would help balance out things a little more for people that come in later in the campaign, especially considering there is a chance you can get nothing on your gambit. Anybody else have thoughts on this? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. We are finding the same thing, I think that might be a really good solution. We now have people in our groups trying to play as many wizards as possible that have spells that are similar to arcane bolt (such as different battlemages). We had a group of 8 players at our local store playing today, and the biggest talk of the day was how to deal with wizards. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. The Following Pictures are current pictures of the warbands you will see in my stories. Most are currently WIPs and the pictures will be updated as they are painted. The "Lost Souls of Sigmar," the protaganists of our story are the creations of myself, Mrmattywoodz. The Ironjawz known as "The Dicks of Gork (or possibly Mork)" were painted by my brother Chopstick15. The beautifully painted Fyreslayers "The Berserker-gang of Ersatz Eightfold, the Runefather of karak long lost," are owned and painted by Tyromancer. "Snicket's Clawpack," are owned and painted by Kyle261.
  7. So far i have played a few games and i'm loving the system. My FLGS is doing a AOS game day this weekend, and many of us are going to try and get in some hinterlands games in between normal AOS games. I have decided to start my own blog telling the story of my warband as the their games play out. Ill also be posting WIP pictures and finished of my warband as it grows. I also will be posting pictures of my opponents warbands. Take a look if you feel so inclined. Comments and critiques are welcome.
  8. The Quest to Leave Ulgu The five warriors wandered aimlessly. Finding a Realmgate through the mist and shadows of Ulgu was no easy task. Although the Stormcast Eternals are magically imbued with a fraction of Sigmar’s power, the strength of these five lost souls was declining by the day. Tibalt, one of the three Liberators that had joined Valirius, was anxious about being lost in the realm of Shadows, and he secretly hoped that this anxiety was well hidden from his brothers. Courage and strength in the face of adversity was a defining element of belonging to the Hammers of Sigmar, and he knew that any show of cowardice or weakness would be met with disdain. The further they traveled, however, the uneasier he felt, as the weight of his new-found vulnerability compounded with his memories of this place. As a child, before becoming a Stormcast Eternal, he was told many Stories of devils and monsters that hid in the mist, and in his mind, he felt as if the very mist around him was alive. Feeling as close to defeat as they have ever before, the warriors prayed to Sigmar for aid. During their prayers, the wind blew and swirled around them, and for a fraction of a second, it formed what seemed to be an outline of a person, before turning into a cloud and blowing north. To the five warriors, this seemed to have been the God King answering their prayers. As the Warriors followed the mist, they could see a Realmgate on the distant horizon. As they approached, they found it lifeless. Despite their many attempts to open the gate using their combined knowledge and experience, it remained closed to them. As they searched for a way to coerce the Realmgate into operation, the warriors heard a thunderous bellow behind them. “WAAAAAAAAGH!!!!!” The battlecry of an Orruk Warboss was unmistakable and the warriors felt a renewed sense of purpose burst into their flesh and fill their armour. A band of Greenskins, large and heavily armored, roared towards the Stormcast like a river bursting out of a broken dam. Behind them trailed a single Grot, with a crude bow in hand. The battle was short and brutal, as the Stormcast were caught off guard, outnumbered, and their lost connection to Sigmar left them weaker by each moment. Hammers and choppas clashed, the grunts and war-cries of the warriors and Orruks rang off the Realmgate and echoed through the mist. The Judicator Elric was ripped in half by the claws of the mighty Orruk Warboss Grogstick, who “waaghed” in triumph at the Stormcast’s death, offering the Judicator Elric’s head as tribute to Gork and Mork. The Remaining four Stormcast retreated from the battle, as the disembowelment and decapitation of their brother reminded them they were no longer guaranteed a rebirth in Azyr. As the four remaining Stormcast stopped to regroup far from their most recent battle and the closed Realmgate, the mist once again swirled around the warrior brothers. They watched as the mist seemed to come alive, weaving an unnatural path about them, caressing their gold armor and leaving dew in its wake. As they watched, it slowly took shape and formed into an Aelf. Tibalt recalled in his mind legends of a mistweaver from Ulgu, and was positive this was her. This was Lyanna of the Shadows…….
  9. here is a WIP of my Counts as executioner. She is Known as "The Devil of Ulgu." and will be showing up later in the story (she shows up in chapter 3, which is the third game of the story. the game was played but i havent written anything out yet).
  10. Prologue As Valirius Stronghammer fell, blighted-sword skewered through his chest, he had no fear. The blue lightning crackling from his brother’s weapons arcing across the Realm of Shadows was a grim reminder of his purpose; to be reborn a third time, a Weapon of the God King. As his eyes closed, his final act of this life would be to lash out with his mighty hammer, reducing the beast that had slain him to nothing more than a pile of ash. “For Sigmar!” Valirius bellowed, as his head hit the dirt. He knew his soul was on its way to Azyr to be reborn. He was on his way home. The Awakening Although his eyes were still closed, Valirius could feel himself gaining consciousness. He had been through the reforging process before, but this time it felt different. He felt the chill of the Sigmarite armor against his awakening flesh. As he regained his senses, he once again felt the burn of the Plaguebearer’s corrupt blade, and a seed of panic began to grow in the pit of his empty stomach. With growing trepidation, he opened his eyes and looked around in shock. There were no bright skies or heavenly sounds of Azyr. Instead, he found only the Shadows and Mists of Ulgu, the realm where he had been slain. Alarmed and disoriented, Valirius stood, searching for any sign of his Retributor brothers. Surveying the somber battlefield, defiled by Nurgle’s rot, he saw no signs of the rest of his chamber. A few sets of Sigmarite armor were scattered across the landscape, but they were all empty husks, Stormcast Eternals that wore the armor had been brought back to the Heavens, just as they should. Movement caught the Retributor’s eye; he turned his head to see four sets of armor standing up. He raced over to find four more Stormcast, just as disoriented as he. Why had they not been Returned to Azyr after death? No longer feeling the presence of the God King, the quintet knew what they must do next: seek out a Realmgate.
  11. So I posted this on Bottle's blog, but thought I would post it here too. When a model has "exploding" hits on 6s, and then levels up and gets +1 to hit do you guys now count it as exploding on 5s? (Just like it was buffed with a hero). RAW says it works that way, but I was curious as to what other groups were doing, and how it is working out for them.
  12. Yeah, I was able to at least grab all the models that I had painted/converted. I actually was able to get a game of Hinterlands in tonight at a store in Sacramento, the area I evacuated too. The terrain at their store blew mine away! It was fun, and a good distraction.
  13. Ok, a situation poped up and I'm curious how everybody else is handling it. Retributors and executioners normally do nmortal wounds on a to hit roll of 6+. If, when they level up, I roll that they now get +1 to hit, do they now do mortal wounds on a 5+ (like they would in normal AOS when a character such as a lord Celestant buffs them), or is they simply have the minimum roll to hit be 2 better than normal? Just curious as to how everybody else plays, or what the RAI was when writing this rule.
  14. Yeah, like I said, it might just be us overreacting to a single character that is just very good. Honestly, of the 14 people in our group, I suspect only about 10 will really play more than once a month, but I will let you know our findings. It's also a good spread of armies, so we should be able to test a lot of different lists. I was planning on playing some games tonight, but sadly I live in the part of Northern California that just got evacuated.
  15. I understand the rule of three as you intended it, I was actually proposing a second rule of three. The ironjawz megaboss, even at half wounds, is insanely powerful for half his points cost. He still gets 8 attacks a turn, and he was destroying anything he touched, and. It much could stand up to him, even when throwing 100 points of models at him. What my playgroup is proposing is making it so you can not use more than 3 attacks against a single model. For instance, the megaboss comes into contact with a liberator, a judicator and a Retributor. He could do 3 attacks to the judicator, 3 attacks to the Retributor and 2 attacks to the liberator, but could not do 4 to the Retributor and 2 to each other model. I might be jumping to a conclusion after two games, and we are going to play at least a few dozen more with the rules as you have presented them before making our own tweaks, but the power level of certain heroes, even at half wounds, is very overwhelming at our initial first glance, as nothing but the wounds get modified for half the points. I will let you know how it goes as we play. We have 14 people in our playgroup participating and/or planning to participate in our campaign, and so far we are having a blast. Thanks for your hard work!
  16. Hey Sam, awesome job with the rules, my gaming group is starting and I got my first few games in tonight. Two Comments/questions/suggestions though. Maybe the rule of three should be made so that no One weapon can target the same model more than three times in a turn. We (my opponent and I) are proposing this because his Orruk Megaboss seemed to be an unstoppable force. His six attacks with his boss choppa were murdering everything, and even with only 4 wounds he was nearly taking out entire warbands by himself. The second question, have you considered the bonus spells Sylvaneth (and now tzeentch) get for their alliance? Do you still get those for having a purely Sylvaneth (or tzeentch) keyword army?
