  1. Okay sure I get that. Yeah it creates discussion and thought I suppose. Access to more information is always better.
  2. So Slaanesh went 5-0 at a tournament? Leaning heavily into what we know works. Apparently summoning 800-1000 points per game.
  3. Is that the necromunda release? For a while people were thinking it was a plastic Jabberslythe.
  4. a video painting guide is also more useful than a single page with 4-6 images. This is in a sense arguing media between what GW did 30+ years ago and what they are doing now. Way to much has changed to stay in the past.
  5. It is very clean and in the vein (vane?) of classic Darren Latham/Joe Tomazewski from about 10 years ago. Take the 'Eavy Metal style and push forward in that style.
  6. Not a heck of a lot is permanent in this game compared to what people realize. But we see stuff recycle edition after edition. A form of Incarnates or Elementals have been around since the mid-1980s. Spells in their various forms change how we access them, where they are written (Amber-Spear for example), High/dark/wood Elves, dwarves, Greater-daemon models.. etc. It is a core-recycler style game. NO KIDDING. I was disappointed to see BOLS linked here. They are the click bait STD of Warhammer sites. I guess it's time to finish my Incarnate of Beasts.
  7. Apocalypse like packaging. Yes it's a massive blow out on product but no way GW didn't print money from the first wave. In fact in subsequent releases I know GW lost money as people went into the local GWs asking what massive packaging they had then left empty handed. It is a weird "sets-precedence" issue for people who have been around enough but GW needs to get people into buying into armies, not walking away empty handed.
  8. There is a buy sell thread on TGA also. Good luck with what you are going through. life is hard.
  9. Rob on the Honest WArgaming talked about this list going 4-1 recently nomad prince knight incantor lord celestant on star drake 3 x 20 Sisters of the watch 2 x 5 trevs battle regiment I like seeing the 60 Sisters. I've run 30 and man they are good. Pretty sure I have 60 archers. I don't have a star drake but a couple wood elf dragons. I wonder if there is a build I could change it up for a tanky black dragon.
  10. That's funny, at one point I had 90 GG during 8th ed but got sold off 1/3 and converted others to Darkswords and the rest to SotW by scrouging flaming bows and using all my Waywatchers as well.
  11. goodness gracious, did you read Gav Thorpe's Alith Anar and want to paint the batman army? Kind thanks for the final tips. Good perspective to think about.
  12. The wood thing has been since the 2005 Wood Elf update. It was pretty amazing back then. Like,.. fairly OP. I feel since GW originally envisioned Sylvaneth as the successors to WE they keep bringing it along. The Herdstone is fairly critical to BoC so I'm not sure GW will move away. it's more a point on how to do it right perhaps? There was a conversation I had a while ago that a certain painter was possibly a leak since he was pissed they dropped Brets. I remember seeing one guy drop things up until he left. Personally I would just assume it was coincidental, he seems like the kind of guy to walk away instead of do nefarious things. Well all in all good news and onwards and upwards folks
  13. He has a reliable track record? I used to follow the dakkadakka rumour quality tracker but it started to be misinformation even back in the warseer days. Well glad to hear. On the upside people could spend this time painting their armies in preparation for the new book And really getting to know the army so when it drops and if it's a good improvement they will get to ride a high wave of being really good with their army! Learn the game and edition more.
  14. Thanks Gaz you are hero amongst men for taking this stand and posting it. This forum used to be people who loved AoS and worked on ways to make their armies work and find ways to solve problems. Some guy even posted in the positivity thread some rant about a couple things in retaliation to me saying i was happy about a few things. haha man people ,...
  15. weird, I thought I could come here for the positivity thread. My mistake.
  16. re: Slaangor be still my beating heart... Yes yes, we all hope that. However; Regarding the BoC update it was 2 phases. the Broken Realms which gave a couple nice little buffs to Warherd and Thunderscorn (still unsure if the Gor change really means anything other than "oh,.. um okay"). Then we got a WD that pardon me if I speak incorrectly on this (kids sick, i'm sick, boss is sick) but gave a blanket 4+ rally for the army as well as some more buffs, that were in particular fairly helpful for the game system (monsters, etc). I feel I'm mostly seeing those two factions, in large numbers AND i'm seeing tournament results from players who were long time champions of the army. I've played them since 2003 and the thing I've always noticed is GW is completely clueless about them AND they attract a significant number of hobbyist and competitive players alike. The player base is a relatively good community. So there are people around to leverage these benefits and for us to have these results in the visible channels. What we saw, uh 3 years ago? with the first Slaanesh was bandwagon hoppers following people like Rhelion who gets the game very well, buys an army, and dominates, but moves on when the army is balanced out in any manner. I mean, there are a couple champions here (enoby, celefaze) but since AoS was out there are few other long timers in the slaanesh thread. GW will still want us to buy new kits. TL;DR: blah blah blah 100% I have a mostly daemon army and given all the things in the world and my life I don't want to buy a new half of an army when I'm really fond of the large amount of Juan Diaz sculpts in my army. I want to use what i have not replace it nor say SWEEPING COMMENTS OF DOOM like "I've moved on from this army"
  17. It's funny how slow this thread moves compared to the rant-fest threads. Or sad,... Working on Synessa (or dexessa? I don't recall which name the model I built is). I don't like the flowing cap sculpting but man,.. this model is impressive. Also the staff is perma broken, ah well all GW models seem prone to this these days. Another positivity: it appears universally people feel AoS model range is just better than 40k.
  18. No. Primarily books are driven by model releases. Having just had a large model release wave, I would be pretty surprised they re-write a book that is,.. a year old? Has that ever happened (exclude 40k)? Now of course that's not always the case. Seraphon arguably. I'm not sure if Fireslayers or Deepkin had new models however they had older books. Even Stormcast are once an edition aren't they? The preview show this year's short term AoS releases was one Chaos (Maggotkin)? Where there any other releases for Battletomes in that preview? With all that's going on in the world (like,.. actual global problems) I don't see AoS Battle tome releases increasing in speed or tackling a book re-write. I think we would all love to see some problems addressed. I just think if you love this army and want to play it, may as well do it. Phonecium was written off entirely and some guy just went 5-1 at LVO with it. To quote him "play what you love."
  19. This is recent? I thought about a year+ ago he quit writing for BL. Maybe this is just royalties coming and and tempting him to write another BL novel. I hope he does.
  20. Yes both! The Shaggoth's utility is different from the Ghorgon's. The ghorgon is meant to butcher things. I quite like him and even when BoC were just bad his swingyness made for entertaining turns at least. And those moments of eating 20 KO are what people remember for years (not that they did nothing in the previous 4 games) These days Ghorgons are good. The Shaggoth right now has the move-debuff spell, can be a durable general, take artifacts, and doesn't degrade. Indeed his dmg output is minimal, and the good thing is as that rend goes up he'll have -3 Rend turns three(?) onwards. So as things get closer and more hairy his use comes up more.
  21. I don't own any PG, I have an old collection of Wanderers. Do you think there is merit in trying 2 phoenixes, assassins, Nomad Prince, Rangers (BL), Shadow Warriors? What about EG? Or is the disparity between PG and either Wanderer units to vast? Also appreciate your recent posts, thanks kindly.
  22. It's depressing to see the doom and gloom isn't it? It's not like Sylvaneth have been terrible the entire time. And is this not a game? If you are only concerned with Sylvaneth being top tier, likely the person is just a hidden WAAC player. To quote the person who just went 4-1 at LVO with Phonecium "I play the army and love and found a good way to make it work." Is that possible always? no, but if your only goal is 5-0 at a top tournament the issue isn't Sylvaneth. Will this army be good again? sure. Is it always bad? no.
  23. I suspect it will come back more. Chaos Dwarfs I think had a wicked one? Local player has/had them. Much like cavalry and chariots GW will most likely return to Artillery in a useful manner/implementation. If there is any hope in Ch. Dwarfs returning, or a classic Duardin, those would be places that appear good avenues for return. Or Stormcast because Stormcast...
