Turn 1 -
longbeards in the center move and charge the ardboys along with a doomseeker. Shivertooth charges in as well. Only the doomseeker with 2 wounds and the ardboy boss left and of course Shivertooth.
Flame cannon got 2 wounds off on the ardboys. 1 intitial and 1 spread. Thunderers got 1 wound off on the same ardboys.
mom hindsight, I should have left the longbeards to defend and maybe benefit from the arcane powers.
The orruks moved up both flanks and failed to set the leading house on fire.
Now the longbeards can move in at their pleasure 😺also forgot the initial set up was with another 20 orruks so I threw in a few more.

Since it’s mainly an infantry battle, mostly infantry. Except that flame cannon. In an old village. Firing flames. What could go wrong? Similar to the story as to why the fuel oil for the steam engine was taken away quickly.
Also changed the layout. Steam engine is in the centre. - a trove of arcane glory. Using the shattered city , streets of death rules and battle plan. With arcane features.

More adjustments.

So the Duardin rounded up the upstart painters. Declared them heretical, had them drawn and quartered. The Knights Excelsior overlooked approvingly and decapitated them to underline their standards.
New paint crew brought in with traditional tastes.

Ha! Got feedback on the other site. Fort is off to be properly detailed. Will revisit with a new colour scheme. I can always refer back to this as something not to do 😺
-
Tried adding some colour instead. Not sure.
-
Did a little bit more colouring to the Fort walls. I had in mind a dark look to it but this is kinda dark.

Was able to finish the bases today. More Boingrots!
-
Started base coat of Fort today. Hope to get a lot tomorrow

Based units. Still need to receive my round bases but some paints came in today.

@Artobans Ghost I have an old metal flame cannon that I inherited from my late father, it's a big chunk of metal and it looks great. If you can get your hands on one I'd certainly recommend!
I would love to grab one plus the organ gun just to have them. Will probably nite the bullet and eBay them
-
This is one of my favourite units of all time.
I have 2 of them in my wfb elf army. -
@NauticalSoup thanks very much!
that bolt thrower actually had some parts missing when it showed up a few weeks ago so I had some fun putting it together.
I also ordered a flame cannon at the same time at an awesome price. Only realizing later that I got a warmaster flame cannon lol. The army is an order army of 1720 points to fit in the war machines and I personally like the 2500 range sI I have room to grow with a proper flame and organ gun -
So this puts paid to my new Duardin army that will occupy Fort Stanley. I will be adding a runelord and cogsmith and whatever other cool units show up. This saga started maybe 12,13 years ago possibly longer with the starter sets and the dwarves that came with it. They all need new bases of course and maybe some day this year they will show up. I’ve got 5 evocators and 200 bases floating around the world for more than 2 months now. Hopefully they will show up.

I may have committed heresy but I wanted a unique Warden King and group of unforged with models I had.
White dwarf 2007 will be the king. His shield bearers are awesome models as well so they will join my old thane and deamonslayer as new unforged.
I will buy the runelord and cogsmith as I love the new models. That will be my command team.

Just an update. Another unit of thunderers, a cannon, a bolt thrower and a unit of miners/warriors that will substitute as longbeards with ancestral weapons.
getting through the lot. Still another unit of miners , and some slayers to go.
These are posted in the painting contract but I’m just loading this to keep in order😺

did you use actual stucko for the walls? or did you just use plaster or something?
I used a spray with a stone finish. Created a rough stucco like surface.
love the spray. -
Very busy this weekend. All I was able to do was scratch some stones into the face of the wall. A bit of progress on another unit of Duardin but that’s it.
-
Should throw in the inspiration for Rubyville and Fort Stanley.
I'm sure my Lord Exorcist’s eyes are twitching when he beholds the diligence of these 2 noble namesakes.
A quick set up will be expanding the Fort walls and adding gun platforms as well -
Indoor pluming is not on the spec sheet so it’s the old fashioned way

GT 2 finally.
All along the front, the Duardin advance. The longbeards and a doomseeker move into the residence on the south flank, make some tea and hunker down while a swarm of spear orks surrounded the house and started poking every opening with their pigstikkers. This downed one dwarf. The first pic is missing the longbeards and doomseeker by the objective. In hindsight, I should have left the doomseeker seeing how hard they are to hurt and should have defended the objective. Bad lack of Duardin fluff. The war boss came running around and stared disapprovingly at just the objective and no fight.
A doomseeker made his way close enough to charge Shivertooth and does so. Meanwhile my general did nothing but die and the unit champ hacked some bits off the wyvern. The flame cannon added some fire but it burnt out quickly. All in all, Shivertooth was substantially hurt. 6 wounds out of 11 and only GT2. Oh well, better than the thane.
An orruk mob charged the slayer and doomseeker who had moved up on the north flank and were surprised at their inability to be hurt. Battleshock and a not so surprising bundle of condensed anger that was unleashed on them decimated the mob.
In the centre, the ardboys saw another doomseeker and gave him his wish. The thunderers dropped 2 of them. The ork archer boys tried to heat up the ensconced Duardin’s tea but failed again to set it alight.
