  1. That’s awesome Baron! Great ideas all. I really like that idoneth spin. As it’s a port city this works really well. My son has been pushing me on the idoneth as well. I think I’m sold. Great to hear from you! Every time I think of you, I can’t help thinking about that chick with the hypothermia and your recovery skills 😺
  2. I tried to research the festermere gate and found it was a path that lead an architect and his builders into Ghyran who actually worked for Tzeentch. It doesn’t say from what realm. I guess it’s just easier to make one up but I liked that name and location. thanks for the input @Overread
  3. Not really sure where to put this. What properties do realmgates have. Are they gateways to multiple realms or just one place in particular. I ask this because as I come up with fluff about Matorea, I need a realmgate from Ghyran to Hysh. I found an almost perfect spot for the province of Matorea near or around an existing realmgate Festermere and was wondering if I need to make one up or use an existing. On the map there are only a few gates unless I can just have one handy.
  4. Couldn’t wait for corax white base so I tried a layer of white scars and Chikrit’s wash formula. Still not up to chikrits standard but I’m much happier. Plus a new Lord Exorcist
  5. I’ve been reading through the GH 2019 on the narrative campaign theme. A broader plan is forming. The Streets of Death sound amazingly good. I need more terrain. I have lots of 40K buildings and unbuilt boxes. Wondering if anyone has any ideas or seen conversions of this material to AoS. As I’m not playing 40k for the foreseeable future, I might be able to convert some of these buildings. some objectives will be needed as well. Made one and added a battlemage, a madcap shaman and an unmounted. Loonboss our of some old models literally lying around gathering dust. Plus a new unit of squig herd. possibly the next army to cross the aisle. my evocators and 100 25 mm bases for my 80 Gloomspite stabbas and archers hasn’t shown up yet. And my balance of castigators and liberators are out of base. I’m going with the new paint corax white and agrax earthshade ont the rest of the army so that’s stalled until GW opens again 😹. The grey pile is shrinking fast. A new group of liberators and a Lord Exorcist
  6. A couple of bad guys for the Gloomspite. Thinking about the ‘pile of shame thread‘ , the shaman has been based for 15 years. Never moving beyond that. The Loonboss, another 12 years in the unused. No shame people. The miniatures will come to light when they need to 😺 Also thinking (unusual yes) of being a goblin is complete freedom to indulge in any horror without mental consequences. ‘hey! Gitsnort boiled the bunnies this mornin.‘ ’Well at least he didn’t hang the cat’ on the other hand, no feeling or remorse when their untimely end is up ’hey! Gitsnort fell in the shredder!’ ’oh, is the rest of the lawn raked?’
  7. Squig herd ahoy! A pain building them, but I like em! Especially the herders.
  8. GT3 Now it’s getting serious. Green magic finally went off on ST w C. Entire left flank is gone and uncommitted greatswords are surrounded by ardboys. My general is gone, STwC gone. may least his giant is out of commission. Actually he landed on my general and finished off his final wound. My right flank flagellants are standing strong. Got victory points again CoS have 8, Big Waagh 0. I have a feeling that’s going to change soon. Dead pile this round
  9. GT2 - the Orb slides east (depending which way is north) thankfully to the benefit of the Greywater Fastness army. Score 4 VP this turn. The left hand flagellants charge the double choppas and almost finish them with the aid of the steam tank and commander. The hellblasters work great and blow a big hole in the same orks. Just not enough of them died. The 2nd steam tank hits the giant hard enough to ruin his charge and the right hand flagellants grab the orb and charge into the chariot. The ardboys counter charge the first flaggies and paint the ground red with them. Still lose 3 but that’s only fun for em and someone gets to try new armour. Shivertooth and the boar boys slam into the tank commander and cut him to half strength. Luckily one of his abilities is repair. The arrer boys knock off 2 wounds to my general. The great swords are yet to be committed. Orc magic ain’t happening.
  10. Lol! He loves attention so he must be some sort of slannesh deamon😺
  11. A force of 2000 each of Matorean Disciples and Shivertooths Headbangers are taking a chance to bash each other up. I have very little terrain, all of it homemade and I need. A lot more. first round, Matoreans don’t like to run, but the guns were doing some damage. Tank with commander managed I kill with the repeater handgun, 2 with the steam cannon and 7 with a 3rack hellblaster. 4 more ran after but there are a lot of them. The other hellblaster doubled and wounded itself. Other tank missed. 30 after boys took out 5 flagellants. Would have been more but I moved them. Round 2 tomorrow. since I play both sides, I will not have my ass handed to me. Had another player show up but left soon after.
  12. Once again, not on my list cause the idea only formed an hour ago but it’s my interpretation of a relocation orb objective. I’m looking at having a round of the battlefield ’The Relocation Orb’. I liked the idea of 2 army’s chasing a bobble. I went thru some old jewelry stuff that’s come down in the family (obviously not worth a damn as we own it 😺) so I found a clear crystal thing and doused it a bunch of inks. and a bunch of monolithic black crystal things and stood them on end for no their reason that 2001 a space odyssey.
  13. Made progress with my devoted steamtank, human runelord, and my human cogsmith (already done for a bit but hiding in the wings) the runelord is a bash of warrior priest, hand carved anvil, and a box of crazy bits from I don’t know were. A good day all in all 😺
  14. The final unit done. My grey water fastness army. Plus more if I went with an order army. the Matorean Disciples of Sigmar. List is above.
  15. Finally finished a project that had its roots in 2005 white dwarf 302. A devoted army. That became the calling card for my warhammer experience. When AoS came about, I could put all the units into an army. As it progressed, I converted all my units plus added some. Today, this group can be a legitimate Order army (with altar and warrior priest) or a Grey Water Fastness army with some modifications. What other game can allow this to happen? This is the reason I became a fan and will support this system going forward.
  16. I’ll try to build the other 5 bounders, the squig herd and paint. Holding on the SC until I get a new primer and shade. (Might be awhile) Stretch goals - 5 evocators on the way. Will build them. Also adding a steam tank and a proxy runelord (human) and cogsmith (also human)
  17. I had planned for an 8’ table to complete the scene but I’ll hold off till I get the feel for this layout. Some shelves for armies and terrain and a cabinet for my much reduced book collection. Very economical shelves - painted aspenite and cut up old cabinet doors for braces. Cost me in total $22 and my time. Now to unpack, build/paint models and delve into some much needed terrain.
  18. Wow! Great feedback everyone. I’ve wanted to quote just about everyone here. I bought tons of stuff in WFB era. AoS came along after about a 4 year hiatus. I always built fluff armies and has my ass handed to me thru years of tournament time. Loved it all though. This new system was hated by my fellow gamers but I embraced it fully. You could legally put all your favourite units in the same army. What could be wrong with that? Before I get derailed, I had loads of unpainted models which are still being used today although a lot less then before, so don’t worry about unpainted units. If you worry about painting quality, just check out my efforts. Very table standard. But I love it. Don’t worry about excess. There are no time limits on this hobby or rules. I’ve been farting around with this for 14 years and when it becomes a burden, I walk away till I feel like coming back. You can always sell what you don’t use. There are no rules.
  19. Ha! Very simple. The base is from some sort of scaffold that was built in the basement when we moved in. Just cut off some uprights and it was ready to go although it looks pretty weird. The top is just 1/2 “ mdf painted green and the trim around is outside wood corners. Coots about $25 all round as I had the trim left over from a job. I also had the lumber store cut it to length and slice it in 2 down the middle to transport.
  20. The table is in. Very high just as I want it. The old GW tables were a lot lower and my back was nearly broken after each game. As a new rule that just came to me, only finished models are worthy of being on the table. A self imposed rule to finish my units. Next on the agenda is an ikea wardrobe thingy that will be for books. After that, wall mounted shelving, 8’ x 16”, 5 rows to hold terrain and unused army’s. The final piece will be an 8’ table. Definitely no urgency on that. Also of course, the mad hobbyist’s laboratory.
