  1. I really like this idea and the rider of the dragon. He looks great. Hopefully the paint scheme makes it scream undead because right now I think it could be seen as a proxy for a BCR or something besides a zombie dragon. For me, the grimghast reaper proxies don't work as reapers. Looking at the ones you painted, the look ethereal because of the color and remind me of the really old spirit host models. I think a proxy needs to remind the opponent of the base unit. Reapers have long handled scythes, float, have rags, a sense of movement, etc. I don't see any of those components on those models. I think skeleton warrior armored heads/marauder horsemen heads on reaper models, even with axes would match your theme and make the models recognizable at a glance on the table. You could also sculpt some fur cloaks in tatters mimicking those painted skeletons to add in the movement factor on the current models. Not meant as a slam, just a friendly opinion. If I walked up to a table to play you, I wouldn't know what they were and would probably ask throughout the game to make sure I didn't have them mistaken.
  2. meant it more as a question for the larger community, your stuff looks great.
  3. awesome, thanks for the write up! That etsy shop is where you saved the money!
  4. im gonna need some bigger pictures. And as someone just trying to find a box of tomb guard and a warsphinx, I can't imagine the price unless you still had the bits laying around.
  5. Took a look through your blog and all your stuff looks great. I wonder if and when a shift will come where GW will allow self produced/designed parts in their tournaments/events. As of now they allow greenstuff and self-sculpted if I am not mistaken. When will that digital jump happen as there isn't much difference between what you are doing and someone that sculpts out of greenstuff.
  6. I am working on gathering the pieces for a general order army based around Devoted of Sigmar. I have two options for it that I am working on. Option A: They Came From Above War Altar Warrior Priest Excelsior Warpriest Knight-Azyros Skywarden Prime 5 Reavers (3 units) 40 Flagellants 6 Prosecutors 3 Vanguard Raptors with Longstrike Crossbows The general idea is that the Reavers are battleline and mobile supported by the skywarden and the knight-azyros. The prime comes down to save the day in style while the rest of the stormcast shoot or charge in (with the knight-azyros improving their shots. Option B: Faith and Thunder War Altar Warrior Priest Excelsior Warpriest Knight-Azyros Cogsmith Skywarden 5 Reavers (3 units) 40 Flagellants 10 Shadow Warriors Cannon Hellblaster Volley Gun Helstorm Rocket Battery Obviously much more of a gunline with flagellants. Any opinions or thoughts?
  7. Was reading some of the warscrolls. The cannon seems a little overpowered. D6 mortal wounds on a 4+, per turn, if an engineer is present? Plus regen if the right unit is close by? I think 160 points is too cheap for that. I would either make the mortal wounds once per game or make the to hit roll harder each time till it acn't be completed anymore.
  8. @Elmir, dont you sell it! I mean, they aren't wrong BUT its a hell of a nice kit and I'm sure youll find a great use for it (like what you have above).
  9. damn you and that necrosphinx. a man could buy a house with 2 of those.
  10. very very cool, though having a ethereal shark pulling the thing would have been awesome as well.
  11. this thread is great. it looks like your list has changed, mind posting it?
  12. Some heavy infantry for a cog-fort. Might run them as free guild guard, ironbreakers, or something else, not sure yet.
  13. Yorn and his men were not used to doing things gently. That's how the old man had ended down on his knees in the mud. These folk were reluctant to serve aboard the Iron Fist. While it offered relative safety, compared to their village, their conscription did not include passage for their families. And with the strongest of them gone, they stood even less of a chance against raiders than before. The old man knew that and had resisted Lucius's guard pulling his son forward. And now here they were. A mob of villagers, who ire was quickly rising, shouting and spitting at Yorn's men. He didn't want it to come to blades. If that happened, the conscripts would be relegated to cog pits, scarcely better than slaver laborers. Suddenly, a handful of rotten vegetables hit on of Yorn's men square in the breastplate. The infantry man dropped the torch he was carrying and drew his sword. Have the first 5 of the heavy infantry mostly done. Still waiting on power swords. I also found out that Marauder Horsemen shields and Ironbreaker shields are the same size in diameter and circumference. Marauder Horsemen shields are a little thicker and I felt that their detail matched these gus better than Ironbreaker shields. Not totally pleased with the stance of these guys, turns out Scion legs and arms are a little static. Looking back, I probably would use Gor arms instead and leave them unarmored, since I have those laying around. Oh well, too late now! The next five will include the banner and musician. The damn champion may look like more of a general than the converted commissar in the last blog post.
  14. Bring the menfolk forward, boys too. The Lord Commander requires replacement across his ranks. Lucius dismissed his guard captain in one swift motion, turning towards the clutter of wooden buildings that were arranged along the near bank of the river. The Rumbling Fist had seen heavy action on their current patrol from Tempest Eye, first green skins, then those damned spirits of undeath, and most recently those skulking rats. In the Flamebloom, men had be picked off in ones and twos by poison darts. Now, with the cogfort looming behind him, Lucius was out on the plain, sent to collect conscripts for the gear works and rifle battalions, if any showed an ounce of talent with arms. This guy is complete at least until I get around to painting him. Up next are a unit of 10 heavy infantry. Typically used as a heavy assault force, they serve as Lucius's bodyguard. Lucius will probably end up using a freeguild general warscroll. Below are some WIP pictures of the heavy infantry for the cog-fort. They are waiting on more scion power swords and marauder horsemen shields. You'll see one model has a ironbreaker axe. I was planning on using Ironbreaker axes and shields but they are just too small for these guys, who are supposed to be imposing, hulking enforcers and griselled veterans. Originally I was going to use freeguild great sword weapons and arms with these guys but the poses and ratios were just off enough to make it look crappy trying to use those bits.
  15. @stato, totally! At my measurement level, we are pretty much talking table terrain feature lol. Titans get scaled down, 40k flyers get scaled down, I'd buy totally for a frigate sized cog-fort!
  16. If a freeguild solider is about 6 feet, give or take, and comes in at 28-30 mm. Then the top of cog fort deck or wall depending on how you want to interpret the story. 280/300mm to 380/390 mm. So about 1 foot, 3 inches on the high end of that 80 feet? I believe a Warhammer giant is about 4.5 inches tall?
  17. Cogfort commander now armed and ready for duty. Simple weapon swap, filed off the Eagle on his ha and added a feather. Was going to use the Freeguild General rules but may end up using Kharadron Admiral rules as the other units will WYSIWYG weapon-wise closer to Dispossessed and Kharadron units (just really tall human looking ones). Currently working on putting together Temptus Scion bodies for his shock troopers
  18. I'd try the pin and then some green stuff. Get a small thin string of green stuff, wrap it around the pin once the pin is in place and then pull it backwards to make it look like a trail of cloth. Put a little vaseline on your fingers, chapstick would work, and it'll not stick to your fingers. You could also try this a number of times off the model to practice the effect.
  19. interested to see how this develops, looking good so far.
