Malekith had scars all over his body, he can now transform into a lizard with wings and he told his mother that he was going to teach the twins a lesson. If his mother conquered a city of Sigmar, why not him?

Sorry what's the source on him being able to turn into a lizard with wings if you don't mind indulging me. I think I missed this bit of lore.

Katakros has been stated to be preparing the Bonereapers for something, and I suspect that it has to do with the upcoming Skaven events, while

"A mysterious hooded lich" (Who is probably Arkhan) has been showing up, speaking Nagash's will, and then vanishing with their troops (A thing Arkhan has been stated to be doing in the Bonereapers battletome). Maybe Arkhan or Katakros get to be the protagonist for a bit this edition, alongside a Bonereapers Wave 2.

I mean is the death protagonist not Krethusa the Croneseer? She worships/is the avatar of/is maybe actually, Morai-Heg. who is an Elven death/fate god, an purportedly helps the good guys out. The cult of aelves that splinter off from DOK, that worship Morai-Heg, would essentially be Death Elves.

The elven god of death is Ereth Khial not Morai Heg unless they changed it for AoS.

Not exactly. At least according to WHFB Dark Elf lore, Ereth Khial is the goddess of the Elven Underworld. Whereas Morai Heg is the Goddess of Death and Fate/Prophecy etc.

  4. I actually like the Crypt Ghouls a lot! And I'll be honest, I'm really hoping for a refreshed Fyreslayer range, INCLUDING the Vulkite Berserkers, but I doubt that will happen since we just got the new Vanguard Set. Unless they were desperate to offload Vulkites. But they are a pretty dated kit, back from the End Times in WHFB.

  5. If they did Grimnir, it would be amazing to see him with a lot of Draconic/Salamander features/influence since essentially Grimnir and Vulcatrix's essence fused in the finale of their great battle. I could easily see them doing Dragon Ogre/Bull Centaur-like Fyreslayers (half dwarf, half juvenile sized magmadroth).

  6. Most competent players learn to stop the Warforgers spell in my experience with the new tome. Too much hinges on that spell getting off for my comfort whereas units like blissbarbs or the sentinels were great out of the box. I still like a unit of 20 though to give me some backboard protection.

  7. Good grief that new vampire looks PHENOMENAL IMHO. I'm definitely going to swap out the chalice for a shield though and swap in a different sword. Love the armor aesthetic and love how androgenous they look. Could easily pass for male or female.

I had a few minutes and an old laptop at hand today. I threw together a quick'n'dirty pavese for everyone to use.

Feel free to print it and tell me if it came out well :) (Can't print for a while now to test it myself :/ )

    Dimensions:
    width x: 2.03 cm
depth y:  0.547 cm (this one can be adjusted by about 20% -> be careful the shield has a slight curve)
    height z: 2.42 cm

I won't be using it myself as I'll be getting the new minis, but what a phenomenal gesture. I appreciate you!

  9. The issue is Fusiliers are painfully restricted. They are great as a backline objective protector, but the reason that Blissbarbs are so scary is largely due to their speed, inherent buffs, and the Slaanesh army, which has a lot of passive bonuses, and Seekers.

Fusiliers are painfully slow by comparison. Sure you can use advance formation and Misthavn, but then you are losing orders for the rest of the army and the Greywater All out Attack x3.

To inexperience players, facing a gunline of a cities army is going to be pretty scary for the first couple of games, coupled with the psychology of perceived "power creep" because new book.  I actually like the Hunters more than I like the Fusiliers but I still think the Fusiliers will be good for back board control.

  10. It’s getting really exhausting for Fyreslayer players. I’ll be honest. I was excited about the new character, legitimately, I wasn’t expecting anything, but seeing those two same damn kits being reused AGAIN in the dawnbringers box just really rubs me the wrong way. But guess those are all of the kits they could really put in there though to be fair. But even just ONE more dual kit would make all of the difference.

That being said… that Fyreslayers are getting a new Character means they are getting at least some attention in dawnbringers, so that’s rad! The fyreslayers lore is my favorite part.

  11. I think Fyreslayers have phenomenal lore. If anyone ever dumps on them too hard I know they haven't read much of their actual lore. These guys are religious fanatics who are so obsessed with seeing their fallen good return that they will literally hammer pieces of him into their bodies, and when doing so they are given visions of Grimnir's actual final moments in the battle against Vulcatrix.

Some become so obsessed with it that they keep hammering more and more runes to taste Grimnir's power. Going even so far as to kill other Fyreslayers to steal their runes. Additionally when Grimnir and Vulcatrix exploded in their final battle, their essence coalesced. So Grimnir's essence is also loaded with Vulcatrix's essence, so the Fyreslayers are tapping into the Ur-Salamander as well. Hence the control over magma in the Zharrgrim Priesthood, and the close relationship with Magmadroths. It's a super deep faction with a lot of untapped potential with a disappointingly small model range.

Great ideas to add to Fyreslayers that break the atypical Dwarf/duardin mold and give them a lot of character, all lore friendly:

    • Magma Constructs (Ogor/4 wound sized and perhaps Large monster sized as well): Already seen in part in the Magmic Invocation The Molten Infernoth, but the Zharrgrim Priesthood have literal control over Lava/Magama floes. Imagine Magma Golems (like K'daii from Chaos Dwarfs) with Fyreslayer Binding Runes all over it.

    • Vulcatrix/Grimnir Cultists/Fanatics: Fyreslayers with partial scaly skin/scale cloaks/kilts, breathe fire, shave their heads, actual fire for hair/beards, look absolutely insane, tons of runes hammered into their skin, explode when they die

    • Hatchling Magmadroths: Function like Seraphon Salamanders but smaller and not as potent

    • Chosen of Vulcatrix: Fyreslayer Dragon Ogors basically, upper half but Scaly/fiery, fangs/horns/crests, huge fiery beards and lower half are dragon ogre sized Magmadroth styled legs

    • Gigadroth: Already mentioned a lot in the lore, we also got the skeleton of it, giant Magamadroths essentially

    • Magma  Cannons: The tech is there via Magmapikes carried by the Auric Hearthguard, but think on a large scale. I'd like to see it more mobile though as static is more traditional dwarf, not Fyreslayer styled, maybe on the back of the Gigadroth war platform or an Adolescent Magmadroth.

All of this would do a lot to really make Fyreslayers stand out. Make them more of a monster/medium monster supported infantry faction, stay away from cavalry. It's cool to play Dwarfs with a lot of monsters IMHO. That's kind of the Fyreslayer thing.

Chorfs are not an if, they're a when. You don't reintroduce back the hobgoblins into AoS as hobgrots and don't make a Warcry warband called "The Horns of Hashut" for giggles. There's something bigger behind that.
In the dark, polluted land of England, in the forges of Zharr-Nottingham, great and terrible miniatures are forged to fuel the war machine of the Dawi-Zharr, as they prepare to conquer the Mortal Realms in the name of Hashut, the Father of Darkness. So have the Sorcerer-Prophets of GW decided !

Idk if Fyreslayers will get a "massive" range update. I always feel like there are more FS players than meets the eye, so if GW has deemed them profitable enough to warrant a second wave, why not ?

Kharadrons are in a good spot because even though they have a small roster it is well rounded so I don't see new big releases. Maybe a Warcry band ?

New Dispossessed, I don't know. Seems like a big stretch to me.

I'm only playing Fyreslayers because they are the closest thing I can get to Chaos Dwarfs to be honest, and I've kind of developed a love of them through that, but I would throw them to the wind for proper Zharr Duardin. I'm sure a few people remember me from the Chaos Dwarf forums, I was the one that created the Spell Cards for Legion of Azgorh spells.  But I would agree with you, the horns of Hashut and the Hobgrots and the lore references are just too much to turn a blind eye too. WAY too much foreshadowing.

  13. Hate to resurrect an old question but what happened to the Chaos Duardin rumors? For a while their launch seemed imminent based on a lot of rumors of them being on the horizon from a lot of reputable sources. Did they mistake the Horns of Hashut warband perhaps or was it all just Ash and Mirrors?

  14. So I realize it’s a bit early for some of these since 4 of these books are very fresh, but what armies do you think have the most potential for 5-0 in tournaments or being top performers. This is largely theoretical based on the books at their cover value and based on their toolboxes. Try to limit yourself to 1-3 choices.

  15. I’ll be honest after those leaks I can almost safely say that the SBGL, OBR, Gloomspite, KO, Khorne and Hedonite books feel like they are for a different game, not OP per-say, but just SO much in the toolbox of each army. All balanced great against one another but against some of the earlier tomes from 3rd edition it’s rough!

I am really curious RE the new flesh eaters though coming soon. And I have a feeling I am going to envy the range refresh they get. (Just one new Fyreslayer unit please GW 😫).
