  1. I love the new night gobbo look, but agree the flying stand/mushroom isn't so hot. I don't like the connecting things to the base like swirly bits and whatnot. I'd rather just the clear stand. Kinda kills the sense of movement for me. Looks like a squiq got impaled on a tree ?

If they do then, lets be honest, its not going to contain the stuff most people want. It will probably have a Navigator, company and a Gunhauler 9_9.  Be nice if it had company and riggers but that doesnt fit the theme of Start collecting, which is primarily as a start point for new players and not intended as a multiple purchase (or no-one would buy the single kits).

Still no rumour of new SC coming though, still just lots of hope-ers   :D

Navigator, Arkanauts and Gunhauler definitely seems like the box they'd do. Right in line price-wise and at least 2/3rds units that are probably not selling as well as others. Would love if that were a Christmas surprise but expecting soonest would be 2018. I believe 40k is getting a few new SC boxes, so maybe there's hope.

Likewise, I was looking at it like Gorechosen, some decent models with the game as an afterthought but having watched that, the deckbuilding side of things actually seems surprisingly fun! I was afraid it was going to be simplistic in the extreme but combos like the thunder cloud and charging with a souped-up Oberyn are pretty neat.

Same thought I had, just another of the dozens of boardgames/excuse for models GW has released in the last few years. Even Silver Tower didn't appeal much to me beyond the models. This seems quite neat though, compact but variable and pretty tactical. I'd love if they fleshed out the factions to where we had dozens of warbands to choose from in the future. I could see myself buying a lot of them. A Kharadron warband would be sweet! Hope this catches on.

Only thing I find a bit unfortunate right now is it seems all warbands are set, as in you can't compile your own? Seems like that could possibly change in the future if they released single heroes for factions but you still had to have the same number of models in your band.

It must just be the angle but that top left guy's fingers look extremely disfigured.

I'm interested to see how this turns out. GW seem to be selling it a lot harder than many of their boxed games, like the Khorne one. Pretty lofty claim calling it the ultimate competitive miniatures game in the previews.

  5. I quite liked the pack of real Libs I got too.

GW's release schedule has been a bit funny throughout AoS. They go through these decently long periods of nothing and then throw several things down at once. Even just these two big announcements both coming on the same day. Why not at least save one for the next day?

Not complaining though. I love the box sets. That judicators/corsairs one is up my alley.

I suppose the perception of each is based on our experiences... so yeah, can't really say which individual opinion over an internet forum is correct.

Whatever 8th really was, it was still a cash grab. Anything involving your unit gets better if you buy more models is by definition a sales tactic since people will be inclined to do so in order to be more efficient with their toys. Quite logical. And there is nothing wrong with that, just a private company trying to make money (outrageous, right? :P).

If people think it's a fun concept, good for them. If people want to field 200 skellies in AoS now, most welcome to do so :)

All the rules are just marketing for the models anyway, so that could apply to anything. I do agree that certain cases are more egregious/seem less justified than others.

I like hordes on my shelf but not without a movement tray in a game.

Although I am against the rule bloating that seems to be a trend, I think that points per model is one thing that is really positive.

With a calculator in hand (don't we all when armylisting?), I have a hard time figuring out how is point per model more complexe (unless some simple additions and multiplications seem insurmountable, which I doubt). In exchange, we can FINALLY use the number of models we want without feeling underpowered by the rules, like paying for a 10 man unit when you only have 8 models.

The whole system till now passively induced you to play a determined number of models per unit and eventually, to buy more models just to fit the rules. The liberty offered by per model points is great.

I agree. I am very anti-complex rules. But I am more anti-strict unit sizes. I hate buying 16 models and wondering whether I should even build and paint one of them, or trying to convert a model to a hero, such as crypt ghouls, and never ending up with the right number of models.

Personally I'm not a fan of all the artifacts and whatnot but AoS got too confusing for me long ago. I just casually paint now.

Rumours from Facebook of Duardin release in March. Aelves, Slaanesh and Slaanesh worshipping Aelves in Summer.

Guy on Facebook claims to have spoken with a GW employee, however rumours match up with other sources and GW expected release schedule.

    Use salt

But salt enhances the flavour! Thanks for the update :) Would wonder how they'd differentiate the Shadowkin (presumably Order) aelves and also Slaanesh-worshipping (presumably Chaos) aelves.

  9. My only issue is the same with all the Stormcast cavalry, way too busy for me to enjoy painting. Cavalry has always been a chore for me in the first place, even though I love the aesthetic, and they're only getting bigger and busier in the mortal realms.

Unfortunate the photo is so jaggy, makes it look a bit less clean than it should.
