  1. With the release of the new Contrast colors, I figured it would be a good idea to test them out with a tutorial. A few of the colors seemed perfect for the classic Rockgut Troggoth color scheme and I happened to have a few sitting around unpainted. After a quick test on a spare bit of troggoth it was time for the real deal.View the full article
  2. This is a repost of an older article, but with the release of the Horus Heresy and the importance of transfers for all of those shoulder pads, I figured it was worth revisiting! Micro Set and Micro Sol really do make it 1,000,000,000 times easier to apply transfers to all of those rounded surfaces on Space Marines. So without further ado, take it away me from 2016! 3. It's finally here, the new edition of the Horus Heresy and it's first official starter set, Warhammer The Horus Heresy: Age of Darkness! It contains all the glories of the 31st millennium, but this time in plastic. Let's take a look inside the boxset and the rulebook!View the full article
  4. Back when the Nighthaunt first came out with the launch of 2nd edition, they actually released two new technical paints designed to work specifically with them, Nighthaunt Gloom and Hexwraith Flame. The legendary Chris 'Peachy' Peach had a painting tutorial video shortly after that, showing how to use these on your Nighthaunt models, so I took the opportunity to follow his guide and see how quick and easy it really is. Spoiler, it's very quick and easy!View the full article
  5. If you're not aware, I'm a bit of a Nighthaunt fan. I have almost one of every unit painted, and collectively I have over 6,000 points of models painted for them, and even more waiting to be painted! How did this ghostly obsession start though?View the full article
  6. Today I have another special guest article from returning super talented hobbyist Groic (Loic) Muzy, this time showing off his spooktacular Nighthaunt! The maestro is at it again, applying his unique style to Olynder's favorite ghostly shock troops and telling us a bit about what went into making such a striking collection.View the full article
  7. While I'm a big fan of the more traditional Nighthaunt color schemes, it's always cool to see some that are more unique. In the new Nighthaunt battletome we get two new sub-factions, each with a pretty cool color scheme, the Scarlet Doom and Quicksilver Dead. Today I'm going to show you how to paint the metallic Quicksilver Dead in an easy to follow step by step guide!View the full article
  8. While I'm a big fan of the more traditional Nighthaunt color schemes, it's always cool to see some that are more unique. In the new Nighthaunt battletome we get two new sub-factions, each with a pretty cool color scheme, the Scarlet Doom and Quicksilver Dead. Today I'm going to show you how to paint the super bloody Scarlet Doom in an easy to follow step by step guide!View the full article
  9. Are you ready for a ghost story? Well strap in, because you're about to hear the greatest ghost story in the entire Mortal Realms, that of the Nighthaunt! With the storyline moved on from the Soul Wars, which was their big debut, what has changed with our favorite ghastly ghiests?View the full article
  10. The best army in all of AoS (totally not a biased opinion) has finally gotten its new book for AoS3, the Nighthaunt! Just like with my Maggotkin of Nurgle review, this ended up being pretty large, so I'm splitting it up into two reviews, one focusing on the rules, and the other on the lore and Path to Glory. Today we're going to take a look at all of the new army and Matched Play rules!View the full article
  11. I've long been a fan of Jon Davies' (known as JP Miniatures online) fantastic Beasts of Chaos army. They're the perfect blend of dark and twisted and really embody the "True Children of Chaos" ethos that the Beasts profess. When I saw that he was posting up new pictures of them with some wonderfully thematic background I just knew I had to ask him if he'd like to show them off on here, and luckily he said yes!View the full article
  12. The next core box (season?) of Warhammer Underworlds is here with Nethermaze! What's different between Harrowdeep and Nethermaze? What's all included in the box? Why didn't they name it Harrowdeeper? Let's find out!View the full article
  13. Our first real narrative expansion for Age of Sigmar 3 has arrived in the form of Season of War: Thondia! AoS has always had "event" narrative books, like Malign Portents, Forbidden Power, or Broken Realms, but not nearly as many stand alone narrative supplements as 40k has been getting. To say I'm excited for this is a bit of an understatement. So, what lurks within the Realm of Beasts? Let's find out!View the full article
  14. The last book of AoS1 has finally gotten its update for the new edition of the game in the form of everyone's favorite undersea aelves, the Idoneth Deepkin. What have Teclis' number one fans been up to within the Mortal Realms and what changes have been made to their rules? Let's delve under the waves and find out!View the full article
  15. Living on the wrong side of the pond, I've been jealous of the partwork magazine subscriptions they've had in the UK for 40k and AoS these past few years. Well, it's finally our turn, with the Imperium Magazine subscription now available in the US! What exactly is the Imperium magazine and what can you expect from your subscription? Let's find out!View the full article
  16. I assemble, convert, and paint a lot of models, as you may have noticed. Every now and then I get asked about what brush I'm using, or something along those lines, so I figured I would give everyone a quick rundown of some of my most commonly used tools while hobbying!View the full article
  17. I've held off on getting a wet palette for quite awhile now, but when Redgrass Games offered to send me one to test out I immediately jumped at the chance. They also send me one of their painting handles and some of their brushes as well. So what did I think of everyone's favorite style of miniature painting palette?View the full article
  18. Today I have my review of the new Illusory Might Rivals Deck, the first solo card pack for Harrowdeep. This is structured to be used as a Rivals deck by any warband, but all of the cards are normal universals as well, so it provides tons of options for other styles of decks too. Let's dive into the deep end of the pack and see what it contains!View the full article
  19. Oscar Lars is no stranger to this site, having shown off his Nurgle army in the past. Today he's back with even most beautifully painted Maggotkin models, as well as his thoughts on the new Battletome, and the future of the faction and his collection in particular!View the full article
  20. The title is a bit misleading, as there's nothing wrong with Daemonspew really, I've just personally never been a huge fan of his sculpt. The Maggoth is awesome, but the rider has always left me a bit wanting. I also really like the idea of making my own, unique Maggoth Lord, so with that in mind Orghotts went under the hobby knife!View the full article
  21. Today I have a special guest article from a super talented hobbyist named Groic (Loic) Muzy with his disgustingly spectacular Maggotkin of Nurgle army! Every model is lovingly converted in some way or another, and then given one of the best paint jobs I've seen. He tells us a bit about his process and how Nurgle got his hooks into him,View the full article
  22. I'm a big fan of theming my terrain collection to my armies. It just looks so cool when your models are fighting over scenery that makes sense for them to be near. Luckily, there's a lot of Nurgle scenery, that easy and fun to make, and fairly cheap too. What's more fitting for Nurgle than a nice swamp for his children to play in?View the full article
  23. The Maggotkin of Nurgle have a brand new model alongside their new Battletome in the form of a new Rotbringer Sorcerer! This model has a ton of character and also a lot of details. In today's article I take you through a step by step tutorial on how to paint this master of maladies.View the full article
  24. Today I have part two of my Maggotkin of Nurgle review, covering all of the lore and the brand new Path to Glory section! While a lot of "core" lore has stayed the same, there is a quite bit new. Whether that's brand new storylines or previously untouched areas that have been fleshed out a bit. So, let's find out what the Grandfather has been up to!View the full article
  25. I figured now is the perfect time for a resurgence of a classic tutorial of mine, the Nurgle Swamp Base! Any Maggotkin worth their weight in pustules loves to frolic in a filthy swamp. Now your's can too!View the full article
