  1. maybe GW realized the massive backlash from the upcoming release of yet more Stormcast and decided to pull the release and repurpose the awesome gryph models for a new line of elves!
  2. You can have this when I get to shoot in your shooting phase just like you get to attack during my combat phase. That's why shooting is balanced the way it is, it happens half as often as the combat phase.
  3. I think I get what you're saying. Stormcast need new units that are simultaneously: fast, long ranged, high armor, multi wound, high damage, high rend, mortal wound dealing, low points cost. Right? You say that if they get that they will stop needing to teleport in order to dominate all the tournaments? I tend to agree with you.
  4. I count 4 in the picture with at least another two on the way. My dark elves have exactly two, darkshards and repeater bolt throwers. Stormcast is already spoiled for choices in the ranged department.
  5. Come on now, the stormcast eternals need a third type of crossbow infantry WAY more than elves need a proper release of any kind. And clearly it is much better that stormcast receive more mounted troop options than dwarves or undead getting a battletome. Right?
  6. categorize all buffing abilities by effect and either have them increase the bearer unit of that buffing ability by a set amount or increase the points of units with that buffing ability by a fixed scalar. Do the same for buffing command abilities. That's the only way I can see to address that issue. At least that way you'd insure that you were treating buffing abilities uniformly across all units. Like you pointed out trying to address the "potential buffing" a hypothetical unit could receive is tantamount to madness and wholly unnecessary if you consider what I said in the previous paragraph. I believe there are is lots of room for many opinions on the subject and enough bright people out there with great ideas. Like you @deadalus81
  7. The pic is a better shot of the sheet. Between the rerolling failed saves and mortal wound generating bypassing armor the hunters have a big advantage. Don't get me wrong though, a score of 0.00308 is two or three times better than a lot of things in the game. for reference some benchmarks to get a better perspective: Darkling Coven Executioners: 0.00375 Extremis Chamber Fulminators (charged): 0.00566 Vulkite Berserkers axe shield charged >20 models: 0.005859 Witch Aelves: 0.0017 The units are really all over the map, something I didn't expect to see when I started investigating the data.
  8. this looks like baseless wishful thinking. Anything to back this up? The blood bowl dwarf model shoulder pad teaser pic doesn't seem to point to a dwarf release. The pic from the tzeentch book (?) where dwarf iron breakers and gyro copters are depicted being killed doesn't seem to confirm anything either. I could be wrong but I don't think there is anything solid that actually would lead a person to take seriously steam punk dwarves.
  9. I get Hunters with great swords clocking in at 0.01345 (effective wounds)*(expected damage)/(point squared) Brutes with gore-hacka pull a 0.00308 respectable relative to most in the game but still order of magnitude off. I think it would be a little closer if I factored for the unit champions and special weapons for each unit but I don't have the time. Pic of calculations. (assumed enemy rend of -1 and enemy armor of 4+) picture is blurry. my screen cap paint paste crop skills have failed for an unknown reason.
  10. compared side to side with everything I have ever analyzed (most units) kurnoth hunters are literally an order of magnitude more efficient point for point than anything else in the game. Prove it to yourself by determining the (damage out)*(effective wounds)/(point squared) coefficient for any unit you like. The numbers don't lie. if you don't like math and don't believe in probability because you think dice are always random so there is no point in doing math then move along and ignore this post.
  11. Nope. Not taking the bait this time. I see you with your bait but I'm not going to bite. Also enjoy my newest guys for cause why not.
  12. Here is a picture of the dark eldar raider baseplate overlapped on the cape pattern. I am reposting the work of an anon from another site who deserves the credit.
  13. Is there anything concrete behind the rumor that Steamhead Dwarves are going to be released? It sounds like just a lot of wishful thinking from disgruntled dwarf players who didn't like their all slayer release.
  14. Absolutely! Dark elves can be Order, Chaos, destruction, or death. Who are we to tell them what they need to identify as? Maybe they were born as Order but they always knew deep inside that they were actually destruction. I say accept every kind of dark elf and stop trying to put labels on things. Right?
  15. I apologize for triggering you with my micro-aggression. I will try my best to respect your safe space.
  16. Absolutely not. They are absolutely an Order force. Order is not the same thing as good. Being "good" is not a pre-requisite for order. Where are the D&D people here to back me up? Say it with me Lawful Evil. please for pete's sake stop asking dark elves to be made destruction or chaos that is completely illogical with respect to the fluff.
  17. 1) a complete balance pass on all units. There are lots of examples of units over preforming for their points cost and others that cost too many points to justify including because they can't compete point for point with alternatives. This is a shame because interesting, fun, flavorful units are getting left on the shelf and I would bet that is impacting sales of those units. I wont comment about means and methods to get this accomplished but I know there is a lot of talent in the world that can crunch every variable in this matrix and solve for the balanced solution vector. 2) Lets get some diagrams to supplement the official rules to explain some of the things giving people headaches. A solid diagram explaining how to pile in, and another for charge moves, retreat moves, these would go a long way towards mitigating some of the comprehension gap out there. The old WHFB rule books had great diagrams, shouldn't be hard to add these. 3) This will be controversial but I think that a return to the old percentage restrictions for armies would be a good move. Max 25% characters, minimum 25% battleline, one monster per 1000 points. Something like that but with a lot more thought put into it would go a long ways towards clearing out the monster mash meta, for a lot of armies the best way to be competitive is to field as many of the big behemoth monster leaders as possible with the minimum battleline tax and that is just not cool imho. 4) This is more of a request for a rules change but why not: please add some kind of cover system to give low wound "on foot" leaders better survivability in the shooting phase. I think that something like if the unit is within 3" of another friendly unit with at least 5 models then when they are targeted in the shooting phase a -2 to hit modifier applies. No line of sight shenanigans, no % of the model obscured, just if you're within 3" of a friendly unit that contains at least 5 models you get the cover save bonus. This portion is dedicated to common requests that I do not agree with: A) I do not want summoning to cost no points. The way summoning costs points now is good and should stay. B) Shooting while in combat is fine and should stay. Shooting only happens half as often as the combat phase already its working fine. C) I do not agree with the sentiment that all battleline restrictions should be removed. That moves the games further towards the monster mash meta. D) I do not agree with the sentiment that the game needs more rules, in general. Counter charge, charge reactions, other stuff that has been floated would just bog down the game and create barriers to entry it doesn't need. The clean easy smooth, yet complex enough, rules set is refreshing, compared to say the cluster bleep that is the 40K rules set. If you're still with me at this point then you deserve a medal, thanks so much for reading all my rambling musings. P.S. Please aleves and an awesome Malekith the Eternity King release of elves.
