Hi everyone.
I had to run a security update on the site yesterday.
This unintentionally broke the site. I've got it back up this morning but we have had to have new site theme/layout.
The positive side of this is the new theme has a bunch of additional functionality to make a much more modern and nice looking layout.
Are there any community members that would be able to help with the design and layout to improve the site?
We now have:
- Night Theme
- IOS and Android Apps
- More flexibility in the site design.
- more icons
- more footer and header options
If you would like to get involved with helping please leave a message below.
Even if you have no skills in this, but have plenty of idea, just post them below.

UPDATE:
We had to run a security update that broke the old site theme. It was a few editions out of date. I've put up a new one to get things working but it might look a bit odd for a while while it get it sorted out.
Side bonus. We now have a dark theme option.

I've only just noticed this thread.
To answer a few questions:
Running costs.
These are currently 330USD per month for the forum software and hosting. this goes up with volume of use but has been at this level for a couple of years now.
Additional 40-60GBP for Amazon AWS media server depending on usage
Similar amount for email provider.
Roughly 4-5k per year. Not accounting for the time spent managing it for me or the admin team.Ads in general.
Ads are needed to pay the bills. We tried donations and it doesn't cover it. not even close. We also tried merch that didn't sell and is another job to manage.
Pop up ads/Google Ads.
I don't know enough about this to make the most of them . From what I understand about the ad sets we added to the site, they display ads based on your own usage. This could possibly be tweaked to be more effective but I don't have enough knowledge of the system sort it out.
The pop-ups have been selected to NOT display. I think sometimes they slip through.
If we have a community member experienced in setting up google ads it would be a big help.

I end up paying a big chunk of this out of my own pocket most months. In previous years the payoff between selling event tickets and Scenery Dice has been worth the costs of running the forums. With no events its been an expensive year.

Hi,
just an update on this as it was myself that dealt with it
@xking spammed the site with Warhammer wiki links in every faction chat.
A bunch of spam requests came in and without looking into it too much (other than seeing the same link over and over and a “spammy” type user name) I marked the account as spam
Default treatment by the system is a ban and deletion of all content.
It was me who flagged this after seeing dozens of reports, and after a quick check seeing pages of copy and paste link posts.
Unfortunately this means the 1700 or so previous posts and threads are now gone and unretrievable.
It's the only time a regular member has been flagged as a spammer because no member has ever spammed like this, usually its just a single post to removed and is dealt with by hiding the post until it can be looked at by mods.
Along with a spammy looking username (sorry! it is!!!) I didn't notice at first glance and acted how we usually do in spam attack situation. I had no idea that action was a hard delete and not reversible.
I've lifted the ban but unfortunately can’t reverse the delete.

My LRL are arriving today and I’m planning lists.
I’m pretty sure I’ll be using Teclis for the foreseeable future. I’m liking the idea of a magic heavy list for a change.
